Images from Rocket Singh Salesman (updated)

Thanks to Sandy

Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year went on floors on May 2, 2009. This marks the coming together once again of the “Chak De India” Director/Writer combination of Shimit Amin & Jaideep Sahni in a funny & exhilarating coming off age movie, set in the new Indian economy. The extremely popular and talented Ranbir Kapoor plays the lead role as the salesman of the year. This Yash Raj Films movie is set to release in December 2009.

Nice look. I hope he plays a “normal” Sikh, as opposed to the usual Bollywood Sikh who feels compelled to “perform” his Sikhness in every frame of the movie.
May 4, 2009 at 1:13 PM
Hopefully with Shimit Amin and this subject it should be a more ‘normal’ film..

Fantastic look

Jaideep Sahni looks very much like Ganguly.

About the Rocket Singh picture… interesting. Shimit Amin, the Yashraj savior ?

I think they need more than one success at this point. They did have RNBDJ recently but again that isn’t quite the sort of project that could be the way forward for a company.

You beat everyone to it Sandy! Today this picture has appeared on Midday, Indiafm, Rediff, BoC.

With a name like Rocket Singh, it’s gonna be over-the-top comedy. Ranbir looks good; hope he does his Punjindi right!
Smells like ‘Employee of the month’, though!

Looks good, doesn’t look superficial

October 19, 2009 at 8:42 AM

October 19, 2009 at 10:01 AM
Yeahhhh good news !!

Another success in waiting for Ranbir. Excellent choices.
October 19, 2009 at 12:28 PM
Yup this looks like a winner. The cheeky smile is a winner for Rajen.
October 19, 2009 at 12:58 PM
This might be the first Ranbir movie I’ve come across that actually looks worth seeing.

The facial hair does the trick for GF! A failsafe formula.
If only Tusshar and Ritesh had a moustache!

I was about to type “explain Amitabh” and then I laughed at myself.
Really though, it’s the film’s feel and context…Rajneeti is also an interesting move for him in this sense…especially with the rumor that the film is a kind of “Mahabharat” set in the arena of modern politics. Sounds like a couple of good films coming up for him.

Appreciate you taking it in right spirit. I am fairly confident that you know that I am just yanking your chain with this kind of irreverential banter.
October 19, 2009 at 5:37 PM
You?! Irreverent?! Get out of town.
October 20, 2009 at 4:05 PM
Looks good!
October 20, 2009 at 4:11 PM
Clever. I like it.

Big bucks and Bollywood
“The film has generated enough curiosity and is getting billed as a success story already. It releases on December 11, 2009 even though there are rumours that Yash Raj Productions may just clash this film with 3 Idiots, which releases on December 25, 2009.)”

Is it just me or others also feel that the promos are not least exciting other than the dance steps. He looks like a Singh but talks in hindi which ruins the feel completely. I hope they have a strong screenplay to back up this salesman pitch of 2 hours about an underdog and how he balances this act. I am starting to feel that this actor may get typecast as an underdog Raj Kapoor type hero playing comedy/underachiever if he is not careful.
I have lost faith in YFR since 2007 so all their movies make me nervous.

this film keeps looking better and better to me. awesome poster and stills as well!
November 30, 2009 at 4:03 PM
I smell a big winner here. Crisp stills.
November 30, 2009 at 4:13 PM

November 30, 2009 at 7:28 PM
Love the new stills…I smell a DARK HORSE!
November 30, 2009 at 7:54 PM
Bonafide hit here. Actually, cannot say that withoutknowing the content, but surely looks interesting and Jaideep/Shimit isa proven team. And, Ranbir is THE star of the future.
November 30, 2009 at 7:59 PM
Wait, wait…you like Ranbir?!
November 30, 2009 at 9:33 PM
I suspect this will be his most endearing part so far..
December 2, 2009 at 10:27 PM
Ranbir got a pretty face & good height.kapoors must be very proud & counting on him to bring that Era back.
He looks much better for a change in typical Sikh makeover. at least his improportionate features got covered.(too small mouth for such a long, big nose)lol…..
best in newcomers ! is he? hope bachchans not worried much.
