This one is more glamorous though one can see the pain in her eyes.
such a gorgeous personality ! so sad ! every man in her life took her advantage and left her alone to die ! what a tragic life and a tragic end !
Maaf Kijiyega, aapke compartment mein galti se chala aaya.
Aapke pair dekhe, bahut haseen hain.
Inhein zameen pe mat rakhiyega, maile ho jayenge.
These few words formed the central theme of Pakeezah, and perhaps her life as well. In the movie, these words form the conflict within a courtesan’s heart, whether to forsake her ghungroos for the sake of her lover. Maybe in life too, she faced a conflict. Being an actress in bwood, and what was so common for many, to be forever destined to live a sad personal life full of compromises with men who just wanted to take advantage of her glamor.

Dil Sa Saathi Jab Paaya
Bechaini Bhi Saath Mili
One of her many pain-soaked couplets.
