Ranbir Kapoor interview
Posted in the bad on March 31, 2010 by SatyamLINK

Within two-and-a-half years of being in the industry, he has emerged on the top with the sheer strength of his performance, charisma and sex appeal. To add to that, he’s also a hit with brands that are queuing up to sign him on as their ambassador. But recently, Ranbir Kapoor turned down two endorsements. While one is a denim company, the other is a big name in suiting and shirting. Apparently, the money for the suiting endorsement wasn’t good enough. And the other brand was a not-too-expensive low-end label in denim. “Akshay Kumar is the ambassador for the high-end range and his contract with the company is still going good. Not pleased with the deal, Ranbir preferred to walk out. Considering that he’s getting good positioning with other brands, why should he opt for less?” says a source in the advertising circuit.

Bollywood co-productions in 2010
Posted in the bad on March 28, 2010 by SatyamLINK

Bollywood’s 2010 releases show that co-productions are the flavour of the season. With over 3.5 billion film tickets sold and over 1,000 movies produced annually, India is, undoubtedly, the largest film-consuming market in the world. It’s the reason why, according to FICCI-KPMG’s latest estimates, large global studios are showing an increasing interest in co-producing films with Indian film production houses and directors.

“When I first dreamt of becoming a movie star,” says one of India’s least starry but most respected actors, “I wanted to be a Gary Cooper, I wanted to be rich and famous, living in palaces and wearing dark glasses and white suits.” He looks around, curls his lip slightly. “I didn’t want to be an arty type of guy trudging up hills and through streams!”

Anjum Rajabali’s letter to Piyush Mishra on the script of Legend of Bhagat Singh
Posted in the bad on March 26, 2010 by munnaLINK

For years now I have resisted the impulse to react to your statements in the media and to your friends, some of whom have conveyed those to me. The lies that you have been circulating about your role in the screenplay of the ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ have outraged my family, my friends and unit members of the film, all of whom have exhorted me at various stages to hit back at you and publicise the truth. But, believe me, even the thought of responding to your wild statements felt indecorous and cheap. So I preferred to maintain a dignified silence, quite content in the truth. And, of course, since you too knew the truth, I was quite sure that you would get over your false frustration and move on in life.

Shahrukh interview ["I know Balasaheb Thackeray very well; he's been very gracious to me"]
Posted in the bad on March 26, 2010 by SatyamLINK

It’s fantastic to have you on the show, you are easily Bollywood’s biggest star these days. For those watching it might have seemed easy. You are so big they call you King Khan. Is this the way you saw you life panning when you started off as an actor?
Not at all, I still don’t believe it. I still think it’s like a dream. But when I started off, I never thought I would do anything else but wake up in the morning and work. But the only thing that’s added to it, and I tell this to everyone, is that I still wake up in the morning and work but the only odd thing my kids find is that I’m a man and I wear make-up. I still wake up in the morning and work but the only odd thing my kids find is that I’m a man and I wear make-up.

Karan Johar on Love Sex and Dhokha
Posted in the good on March 25, 2010 by munnaLINK

There is the romantic and honest Rahul, a lover and a dreamer who has to bear the opposition of his lovers’ rich and boorish family. Idealistic and mild mannered, Rahul is wholesome and well meaning, just like Hindi film heroes are supposed to be. Enter Adarsh, the foulmouthed, rough but handsome alpha male, the kind who needs to tell his woman what to do and how to behave, and possesses all the virtues of a manipulative and cunning Hindi film villain. Then there is Prabhat, the do-gooder, the one who will bring light to the darkness that falls on society through his earnest attempts at exposing the truth, just the kind of underdog that tries to make a difference in the world. Yet LSD is not your typical Hindi film. Read more »

“Yes, I have been invited through formal government procedure by the Chief Minister of Gujarat to promote tourism in the State of Gujarat. Yes I have accepted it. And yes I shall go ahead and do it. I am promoting tourism for Gujarat. I am not promoting the politics or the governance of Mr Narendra Modi the Chief Minister, or Mr Narendra Modi the individual. Gujarat does not belong to Mr Modi. It belongs to India and I as a proud citizen of my country have every constitutional right to promote a part of my country. Mr Modi is a democratically elected and constitutionally appointed head of the State, if people have a problem with him, why did you elect him ?”
