The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari is all set for a theatrical adaptation

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari which made Robin Sharma one of the top five leadership experts in the world 10 years ago, now leads him down the path of theatre. It is being adapted into a play by Ashvin Gidwani Productions.

A “fable about fulfilling your dreams and reaching your destiny”, this simple piece of writing has inspired many the world over, garnering millions of followers. With over a million copies sold worldwide and translations into 50 languages, including Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Italian and Spanish, the book is said to have changed the lives of numerous people.

That isn’t nearly enough, however, for the glib talking Sharma. “A theatrical adaptation can bring the book to life, and this is exciting for me,” says Robin Sharma, the enthusiasm clearly reflected in his voice. The play, set to be staged around Diwali, will be directed and produced by Ashvin Gidwani. “His adaptation of Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist was very successful and he is very well-known and appreciated,” explains the author, when asked why he chose to go with Gidwani for this project. For Gidwani, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari presents itself as “a potentially great theatrical work that is required in today’s time.” The stage production is expected to incorporate music, dance and other forms of multimedia to make it an “exciting, inspiring adventure”, as Sharma puts it.
