  1. Bachchan brings the house down! Love to see these superstars get together. RGV’s there too! LOL, got carried away with all of this and hence that tweet!

  2. Filmbuff Says:

Can’t believe how slim Chiranjeevi looks. He used to be a well built guy in his hey days as one can gather when we see his movies on DVD these days!

Bachchan was always very popular in Hyd and this news is not surprising

    • Chiranjivi has gone through liposuction to act in his 150th movie. After merging with congress, last week he declared that he is retiring from movies. I am sure he will do movies, not much political future to him.

  3. I am sucker of such images and video. It is almost an IIFA for me but unfortunately video is not playable on Indiaglitz.

  4. Found a way to watch entire clip..here is the link. Got to go through telugu channel link and not Hindi. Even the video has large dose of telugu and it must have been puzzling to AB too. Ramu really seems got carried away though his words were sounded alien.

  5. Main points of Chiranjeevi’s Telugu speech:

    - As soon as we hear the name Amitabh Bachchan, we think “Angry Young Man”

    - Especially in films like Zanzeer, the kind of anger he showed in his eyes inspired me when I did films like Khaidi. Later he did many diverse character roles, too.

    - We are lucky to have him here with us for this film

    - Puri Jagannath didn’t dream he could ever direct Amitabh, but due to the push from Ram Gopal Verma, he could do it. I heartily thank (?) (or appreciate) the way RGV gives opportunities to others whom he likes, and promotes them.

    - I thank RGV/Puri Jagannath for giving us the opportunity for again seeing Amitabhji as a “Angry Young Man” – he is young at heart. Now we don’t have to see him on TV, we can see this movie.

RGV’s speech (the sound was very distorted, so it was hard for me to understand a lot of it; hence the summary below may be disjointed)

    - We all know the kind of determination Chiranjeevi had and what he as achieved

    - I could never even imagine that I would be able to work with stars like Amitabh Bachchan or Chiranjeevi.

    - I used to stand outside the theater looking at the hoardings of Chiranjeevi, trying to buy tickets to his movies, and being beaten by lathis by the theater’s bouncers.

    (couldn’t understand a lot here)

    - Budha is nothing but a celebration of Amitabh Bachchan (said in English). Some time ago, I showed one side of Amitabh Bachchan in Sarkar — his intense side. Now Puri Jagannath has shown another side to him.

    Amitabh Bachchan’s speech

(How come he said if Budha works, it will be his first solo hit in 20-30 years? Wasn’t Baghban a hit?)

    RGV again

    - basically saying Chiranjeevi should end with 150 or 200 films and not an odd number like 149, and that the 150th film should be directed by Puri Jagannath. Chiranjeevi agreed and wanted Amitabh Bachchan to do guest role, to which Amitabh agreed.

    - then RGV said after PJ directs the 150th film, he will direct the 151st film with Chiranjeevi and someone else whose name I couldn’t catch.

  6. Raveena’s comeback item song dropped?

There is no space for Raveena’s item number Chandigarh Ki Superstar in Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap. The song has been dropped from the film at the last minute and Raveena is not happy with the development.

Movie critic Taran Adarsh confirmed that the song is missing from the film saying, “Didn’t see it in the film.”

The song will now be used as a promotional tool and Raveena Tandon who was super-kicked about her comeback item number is fuming. The actress who had worked very hard on the song doesn’t want to talk about it, post the announcement.

RaveenaRaveena Tandon was touted as the original item girl of Bollywood and had sizzled in songs like Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast and Sheher Ki Ladki before.

Interestingly, the track featured prominently in the promotional campaign of Bbuddah…

Axing it from the film just before its release is rather surprising.

  8. ‘No one can step into Paa’s shoes’

A day after Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap (BHTB) opened in theatres, actor-producer Abhishek Bachchan reveals that he and his 68-year-old father will work together in a film next year. His production company AB Corp will produce the film that revolves around a father and son.

Considering the company’s first project Paa (2009) was also about a father and son, is this some kind of a sequel to the National Award-winning movie? “No way!” says Abhishek, adding, “That child Auro died in Paa, remember? So, how can there be a sequel? Or actually wait a minute. If Vidya’s character gives birth to another baby, then we can have a sequel, and call it Maa. But that’s still a figment of my imagination.”

When asked what the yet-to-be titled project is about, the father-to-be informs us that it’s an emotional story, but with a funny twist. “Trust me, we don’t want people going to the theatres with tissue papers and handkerchiefs,” he says. “With this film, we want to purely entertain. It’ll be a fun, commercial movie. The last such movie where I worked with dad was Bunty Aur Babli (2005). It’s been long overdue, because Sarkar (2005) and Sarkar Raj (2008) were serious movies.”

With BHTB, Abhishek brought back his father’s hit dialogues. And one of the first few posters of the film had Vijay Dinanath Chauhan… poora naam written on them and Karan Johar’s Agneepath remake became an instant reference point. Does he intend to remake any of his films? “An entire generation has grown up watching my dad’s movies. The dialogue has superb recall value. So, we decided to use that for our film’s promotion. We weren’t trying to attack Karan and Hrithik’s (Roshan) remake.”

As for his father’s movies, Abhishek insists that they should never be remade. “Some things are best left the way they are. I don’t see any actor stepping into my father’s shoes. The only one who can technically do that is his son. And I’m daring to take that route,” he says. “I wish Karan and Duggu well. They’ve discussed the remake in passing. From what I know, it’s a completely different film. And I know, they’re not out of their mind to make a movie that even remotely looks like a disaster.”

    • Wonder if this is another Balki film though he then gives the BnB analogy suggesting something much more commercial. I wonder if this is the Prabhudeva Okkadu remake. Would make sense. There’s a role for a father in it and there’s a fair bit of comedy when the hero helps the girl escape and bring her home. And of course this project was once launched by Santoshi with both father and son (Ranveer). I’d be thrilled with an Okkadu remake though the climax fight should be changed.

    Balki or no Balki…
Bachchans separately and as a family brand—-
Need some good box office grossers asap—in ANY shape n form—from ANY maker—wont worry bout “quality” or “critical appeal”
Those “critical appeal/prestige thingy” can be achieved later but if the “massy box office appeal” is not addressed to instantly, there maybe a point of no return unfortunately (based on abhis recent outings and also budddhas opening numbers)
At the end of the day, movie making now is a costly exercise and sustainability and returns is paramount..
Someone has to foot the bills at the end of the day—for other things, there are other aveunes like tv, satellite releases etc.
Somehow i feel that dmd and buddha, per say have been more than decent projects from every sense possible.
But the failings of the recent past have come back to haunt bachchans as expressed in the opening nos and lack of dmd trending….
Hoping buddha picks up (which is not at all ruled out at the moment though)

  10. Bbuddah director Jagannath Puri shifts to Mumbai
    SUBHASH K JHA 02 July , 2011

MUMBAI: Jagannath Puri, who is one of Telugu cinema’s most successful directors, has shifted base to Mumbai now. In fact his next project in Telugu that goes on the floors in July would be shot entirely in Mumbai.

“It’s a project entitled The Department with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead. It would be shot entirely in Mumbai, as would be my next Hindi film, the remake of Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi,” Puri tells Businessofcinema.com.

Puri admits that the Big B is addictive. “It is every director’s dream to work with him. But I never knew it would be such an enriching experience. Amitji was right upfront in every department of the film. He helped out with every aspect of the film. I couldn’t speak a word of Hindi. But working with him I’ve picked up the language,” Puri says.

A diehard fan of the Big B, Puri says he stopped seeing the Big B’s film since 1985. “Before that I saw every film of his repeatedly. But after Mard I stopped watching his films…until I saw him in Balki’s Cheeni Kam and Paa.”

Balki, another diehard Bachchan fanatic, cut four “concept” trailers promos of Bbuddah without Puri or the Big B’s knowledge or consent.

Says Puri, “They’re amazing! Without a single visual from the film Balki has put forward the film’s theme and concept. It is unbelievable. I can’t get over it. All of us belonging to the generation that grew up watching Deewaar, Sholay and Zanjeer are the Big B’s fans.”

    • Interesting bit on the Hindi film. He’s starting work with Abhishek early next year according to the earlier piece. Wonder what this other Hindi remake is about.

Has anyone seen it by the way? I did look up the synposis

[Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi is an Family Darama based movie. In which, Chandu is a kickboxing student and aspires to become the champion. He has a caring mother (Jayasudha) and no father. His father leaves them long back to achieve his goal, as he felt that his family is becoming hindrance to his career growth. Chandu loses his mother in due time. His mother asks him to go to Vizag and stay with his father Raghuveer (Prakash Raj) for the rest of his life.

Chandu travels to Vizag and finds that Raghuveer married another lady called Shalini (Aishwarya) and they have a daughter as... ]

Seems to be a very family-oriented subject.

      • Yes, that stqrred Asin and raviteja. It is a good family entertainer (not masala). Abhishek suits well. He is starting businessman with mahesh, that is not good news.
You lose South business with two versions.

        • that’s a fair point.. just wondering if there’s been a change and he’s now doing this subject with Abhishek.. would be odd if he’s completing two films before starting the one with Abhishek next year. On the other hand judging from Abhishek’s interview the subject sounded very masala. I certainly want him to take on the more masala subject.

  11. He would have remade Idiot with Abhishek.
puri and RaviTeja were room mates with small roles and as Asst. director.
They started with idiot , then tamil Ammayi comedy entertainers which made both to top league.

  12. Filmbuff Says:

Raviteja is a natural actor and a good looking guy (not a choclate hero ). I liked Amma, nanna and tamil ammayi. Asin did very well as the tamil girl. the movie was good coz Asin speaks tamil dialogues as per her character in the movie. The tamil/telugu cultural nuances made it an interesting film (like maro charitra yrs ago). don’t know how they will adapt this in hindi.

Ravi Teja started out in tamil films. He was the villian in Srikant’s first film – Roja Kootam? Hope i am getting the name right – otherwise Satyam will correct me.

  13. Filmbuff Says:

forgot to add – i wonder why these producers/directors don’t cast Ravi Teja or Mahesh Babu in the hindi versions. These guys are good looking, natural actors and younger in age. I think Ravi Teja acted in the original telugu version of Ready too which was remade in hindi with Salman.
