Singer Amy Winehouse found dead in London home

LONDON (AP) — Amy Winehouse, the beehived soul-jazz diva whose self-destructive habits overshadowed a distinctive musical talent, was found dead Saturday in her London home, police said.
She was 27.
Winehouse shot to fame with the album “Back to Black,” whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop was a global hit. It won five Grammys and made Winehouse — with her black beehive hairdo and old-fashioned sailor tattoos — one of music’s most recognizable stars.
Police confirmed that a 27-year-old female was pronounced dead at the home in Camden Square northern London; the cause of death was not immediately known.

Sad news. Had a (perhaps the) singular voice among those of her generation. RIP.

Another tragic ending..

So young. What a shocker. What a great tragedy. I felt very shocked when Health Ledger suddenly passed on. One has to believe in fate/destiny/god after such events! May her soul rest in peace.

When young people die, we are shocked’
I read somewhere that she was depressed inspite of her success at such an young age. That is the flip side of fame and success. She got rid off her depression once and for all that tried to possess her and make her life miserable. Did she deliberately want to join 27 club? Now that 27 may become a craze for youngsters to go for it.

Why wait till 27?

Some will immediately say it is due to decadent western culture and too much freedom and lack of parental control.
In India, we have an exact opposite problem. too much parental control and pressure from them to do well st any cost. All for the good of the children.

club 27: sounds so exclusive and membership seems to be hard. Sorry black humor.
I don’t know about east-west. All I can say is that at young age if you get infinite amount of money (without too much struggle or effort) then it can wreck havoc. Therefore (our elders used to say) money should come after a lot of struggle (like Amitabh Bachchan) then you really value your success, work hard, not rest on your laurels or not go crazy..what happens to people who win lottery tickets (in usa)..they blow it all up and go back to their previous jobs. Anyhow Michael Jackson, lindsey Lohan and many-many others who are not grounded enough..get tons of money..and become basket case!

Thats why people like Dhirubhai ambani used to make his foreign return sons travel in economy class..for that experience cannot be bought with money. Sonam Kapoor (in recent interview with Simi on india’s most desirable) also mentioned how she travels in economy and had shoe string budget at university and even had to work as waitress in singapore to supplement her income. If you bypass all these life experiences and have loads of money then you will be reckless..that is foregone conclusion. Having said that there are quite a few out there who have head over their shoulders and have made it safely..Amy had a bad boyfriend who introduced her to drugs..so sangati kaa asar bhi padta hai…one needs to therefore always be in satsang/good people/ideas/thoughts around them!

A very poor role model for youngesters. Hardcore drug addict, alcoholic, immoral bahviour, in constant trouble with police and too rich to give a fuck.
Definately will not be missed….people will forget about her in a year or so..

Should show some compassion…we all are “lost” at times..only diff. she was rich/famous and therefore the impact compounded.
Youngsters these days need to chose their rolemodels carefully!

Yes, dimps. I felt for her mother. It is sad to lose one’s daughter. the daughter for whom the mother bought frilly dresses for birthdays, dolled her up, teaching her the alphabets, cradling her in her arms, wiping her tears.

And diapers…ahhhh. We make our own destinies though…parents can influence sometimes negative influence, sometimes positive. Neetu Singh’s mom exploited her daughter by pushing her into films as a child and lindsey lohan, kardasians…many others also pushy mom. Not sure what kind of mom, A.W had. Not sure if others need to be blamed. Not sure if others even tried to rescue her or tried and failed. IN the end, just a very sorry state of affairs…sad.
