  1. Seems more toned down but should be another easy 100 crores for Salman!

  2. This is a laughably poor trailer, but yeah, Salman will be laughing his way to the bank again.

  3. oldgold Says:

Interesting take on body guard’s presence everywhere. Will give rise to humourous situations…I hope.

  4. better than ready… but yawning trailer!!

  5. Way too much going on in the trailer but on second viewing I’m loving it. I don’t know how Bodyguards work but Salman seems totally in character. Bebo also looking very nice.

I hope the music is kick ass and the romantic song played I like. It just kind of reminds of Wanted trailer but I think I need to see it a few more times.

    • I have watched it a couple of times now and I feel the USP will be the romantic angle between bhai and bebo. That romantic song around 1.04 sounds soooo good. Jaldi release karo

      • but naveed, u know what i agree all there, but the fact is which i felt is that i am more excited for ek tha tiger! than this

also i read the story in wikipedia, and (spoilers)

the ending is dramatic, with reconciliation, and years of wait etc added, so it would connect emotionally imo

        • Not my cup of tea but yes another 100cr+ blockbuster beckons for Salman. Any movie which releases on Eid will get destroyed.

  6. I liked the way it starts with Sallu showing of his body and kicking and punching the goons. But seems a letdown post that to me and romantic angle seems uninteresting .However, masses might like it. But Its a fact tht no other current generation star can carry of larger than life roles like Sallu is currently doing. Lets see wht Ajay has managed in Singham.

  7. TheCoolDude Says:

What an utter piece of crap trailer……Salman is now doing an Akshay where all the movies look same. Again, this is not going to last for a long time.

Ready was probably the worst movie I saw in a long time….this might ‘one up’ it.

  8. alex adams Says:

Have hated Salman Khan all my life
    (except last year or so)…
Surprisingly found Dabang playing at a nearby plex and was dragged to check it out (no other good option)…
Must be the second/third day of release..
While seeing this song, i “predicted” that this will be the biggest film yet of Salman Khan and perhaps ever.
My co-viewer said that I had not seen his films and initially thought i was my sarcastic anti salman self and could not believe that i had really liked this stuff…..
Thats how blockbusters are created—people have to be “converted”…lol

    • have similar feelings about Salman and Dabanng. Didn’t mind him early on but started detesting him with the whole Dhawan makeover. But yeah it’s impossible to dislike him in Dabanng which is why it’s probably the most important film of his career after MNIK. He’s never united the audience as much as he did here. And this includes HAHK which despite the colossal success was widely seen as a MAdhuri show at the time (I think correctly) and consequently didn’t do very much for Salman’s career at that point in time.

      • MNIK? Wrong Khan, Satyam. :)

        • oops, meant to say MPK!

        • alex adams Says:

welcum back sm—nice to see u are alive n kicking…
in this current “salman friendly” season , wondering where a salman addict like u has disappeared.
Perhaps your “parents” have blocked your internet access due to other “stuff” u have been up2–hahahah
anyhow, good to see u back

      • Bhalo_Manush Says:

“but started detesting him with the whole Dhawan makeover.”

Same with me also…I hated all David and Salman movies post 2000…David Dhawan was in super form in 90′s…

Salman in comedy roles never seemed convincing to me..he should continue with this action image …

  9. I also feel tht with Dabang Sallu has finally come of age and masses are looking forward to him in such roles now only if he does not overdo it. Infact, your point tht HAHK was a Madhuri vehicle has absolutely been the general perception. HAHK dint do much for Sallu at all. Infact SRK gained a lot out of DDLJ and Sallu nothing much out of HAHK . But things have changed for the good for him now and hes the single most impt factor in his movies.

    • Dont agree with this dino.Salman is the bigest star of the 1990s BO wise. After HAHK he had karan arjun, jeet ,judwa,KKHH even in supporting role and in 1999 the top 3 films.
KA is seen as a salman film despite srk having equal role.

SRK only has dtph, kkhh apart from ddlj.dtph had Akshay, kkhh has salman. But perception wise he was on par with salman.
      1990s belonged to both salman,srk.
It is only after 2001 that srk became No1.
      He was No1 from 2002-2006.

      • well, saying that SRK only had those three films as hits to his credit would be unfair. Those were the defining films of his career but he had a string of other hits too – Baazigar, Darr, Karan Arjun, Pardes n Yes Boss.

  10. alex adams Says:

As mentioned before, Salman khans entire filmography pre-dabang (including HAHK etc) is inconsequential and lies in a “scotoma” to me.
But i was always aware he was a big massy star.
Its just that with dabang he has “breached” above a certain “glass ceiling”–in a way that happens rarely.
In his current form, SRK and even Aamir are feeling the tremors—providing he continues to choose the right project.
He is fine in ready and bodyguard stuff for his target audience.
But its projects like the bourne identity remake “tiger?” that maybe tricky for him (although it will be a more superior film)
Also, i feel this moment has probably come a bit “late” for salman to effectively threaten srk/aamir in the alltime stakes and for “legacy” issues…..

    • I too agree that Ek Tha Tiger isn’t really Salman’s cup of tea, Sure if he’s hot at the box office it will get a big initial and so on which will then of course get it to a decent total. But I suspect it will be the Hero (Sunny) kind of deal. It is precisely because Salman is the Dabanng/Ready kind of guy or most acceptable with that sort of persona that it’s a bit of a stretch to imagine him as a suave super-spy! Nonetheless with a certain admixture of masala this film could work, just not sure if Yashraj are likely to do this. If I were Salman I’d insist they do the sort of thing that was popular in Bollywood in the late 60s or 70s. A certain kind of masala espionage caper with Dharam gallivanting around Beirut and so on!

  11. He has always been a huge massy star and out of the three Khans easily wields the biggest star power imo. Staying in my college years in 90s in Bandra 5 mins away from Salmans Galaxy there used to always be a huge group of fans waiting outside Galaxy for a glimpse of Sallu many of them imitating his hairdo and bodyfit t-shirt stuff and this was the time when he was giving his biggest flops but still huge fans were there waiting for their star. In the current scenario he rules the Single screens completely and Aamir rules the multiplex audience unlike any. SRK is in between ofcourse more multiplex but never know this year is critical for him so interesting times ahead which could change some equations in BW.

  12. Bodyguard looks like a guilty pleasure even for strong detesters of masala fares. It looks way better than Ready if i am not reading too much into the trailer. You can love or hate Salman but you certainly can’t ignore him. He has that x-factor even if his movies are not much to talk about.

  13. I’m not particularly interested in this, but it will be better than Ready for sure

  14. Bhalo_Manush Says:

The Trailer is excellent…Another Block buster for Salman…

  15. Satyam ji, Thanks for the post and saw nice promo of Salman’s Bodyguard.Few month ago I watch ‘Bodyguard’ Malayalam film(with eng subtittle ) I love the movie for the nice story.Waiting for watch Salman after Ready.

  16. weird special effects…everythng seems plastic..! except for Kareena :-) …might work..but it shouldnt work!!

  17. Trailer is not even close to upto par! The action scenes are just taken wayyyyy out of line. Some of the comedy’s okay, but, other than that, the trailer looks pretty crappy. But, again, Salman will be packing full-houses! So, high returns, low material. But, again, you can’t judge from the trailer! We’ll just have to wait ‘n watch!

  18. Is is just me or someone also noticed that bodyguard in college angle was also in Main hoon na and some location and action seems direct lifted from WANTED.

  19. I just love this song. It was the best part for me in the trailer also. Really looking forward to the longer version of this song. This is the only 1 done by Pritam. Ash king has nailed it man. I loved Te Amo in DMD and he has done it again here.

    FaridoonS Faridoon Shahryar
Jus did an interview with Himesh. There r 4 songs in Bodyguard.Himesh has done 3 while Pritam has composed d ‘I Love You’ song.

Another Rahat song for Salman. Good news coz the 3 done previously were all very good especially Surili Akhiyon and Tere Mast Mast.

  20. Really disappointed with this trailer. I was expecting a much better one. I still agree that this will do 100 crores but that’s not good enough for this movie. This has the potential to beat 3Idiots. I hope they are true to the movie. Trailer seems to deviate or give wrong impression to the public. This is a bit like tree naam deal without any serious psychiatric stuff in second half and a very feel good happy ending.

    • “This has the potential to beat 3Idiots.”

      In what universe?!

      • Well I agree 3 idiots looks like mount Everett at the moment, but do you think it will not be beaten at all. Yes Dhoom3 certainly has the potential to beat it but I’m happy to bet 3i record won’t remain untouched till December 2012. Actually it’s not that impossible even though there are so many things that need to go together like a big star, big movie, big release which can guarantee a good opening and then if the film is liked it can touch 200 crores. It may not be exactly like 3i which made 79 cr in first week and onto make over 200cr but in a different proportions. More in first week plus 2nd weekend than rest of the run.

        • As long as inflation isn’t a major factor the 3I record is untouchable for now. Even by D3. Because the 3I trending was very strong and you just don’t get this with most films these days and specially so at that scale. Now if D3 say does 120 crores over the week it would get to 200 just based on the trending of this franchise. However then 200 crores wouldn’t mean the same thing. And this is something I keep saying. A barrier should be crossed when these other factors of multiplex increase and ordinary inflation are not significant factors. This is why by the way HAHK was a very special blockbuster even among huge blockbusters over the last 30 years or so. Because it grossed hugely in 1994. I’ve hard all kinds of figures on this ranging from 60-100 crores. It did so at a time when there were no multiplexes and even with multiplexes it took until at least a dozen years more for any film to get to this number with the exception of Gadar in between (itself historic in many parts of the country). In other words if you follow BOI the film did 70 crores, DDLJ did less than this, Gadar a bit more, if you follow IBOS the film did 60, DDLJ still did a little less and Gadar a little more (of course DDLJ still depended on major metros for more of the share, HAHK was great everywhere). The point here is that you couldn’t cross HAHK even after very many years and a fair bit of multiplex introduction into the market and of course inflation. With 3I on the other hand it’s still a matter of time, it is forseeable given some years. The D3 kind of film possibly doing it or some other. Much as the 100 crore barrier seems in play much more often than when Ghajini released. So Aamir ‘s films get enormous credit for doing it at the time they did but HAHK was something else.

The problem is that we have partisan debates where these other factors are never accounted for. So unless D3 does 250 crores or more it can’t get credit for matching 3I off a much higher initial. It would still be huge as barring a total surprise like Dabanng from some place no film is going to get within that 200 range. And Dhoom isn’t just any franchise to begin with.

          • Well I can understand the trending bit, but if a film makes more money than 3i with inflation adjustment, but more in it’s first 10 days than the rest of it’s run, it is still good enough. Of course it can’t be talked in the same breath as 3i but it still a bigger grosser. U can’t take more credit for that gross but you don’t need to be apologetic as well

          • It’s not good enough not just for trending reasons. Or rather ‘trending’ isn’t about sentimentality. The reason why films making a lot of money in ten days as opposed to 100 days isn’t better except in terms of providing an immediate safety net for all those who’ve invested in the film is that the opportunity cost of a larger scale production is much better served in every sense when the film runs longer. It is just better for the economy of the industry in all sorts of ways. But also as these grosses go up costs go up too. So if 3I makes 200 crores at whatever budget D3 at some point might be able to get to such a total with a much bigger initial but the costs of the latter will also be much greater all round. So it’s not only about using the gross standard after inflation. One also has to look at how much more has been spent to get to that same total. Which is why if D3 got an initial much bigger than 80s crores but then also did more than 3I it would balance out all of this not otherwise. For the very same reason any distributor under the sun would prefer to get his 100 crores from Ready than Don 2 or Ra 1. Because those films just cost too much. The overall 100 crore figure doesn’t mean much in a vacuum. So when people talk about SRK matching Salman or whatever that might be fine from the audience side of it but on the other those much greater costs have to be justified too. Otherwise here too there are consequences in the trade. And yet again all of this isn’t the sort of stuff the trade let alone the media get into. They present it all as completely clear cut and simple. It’s a lot more complicated in every sense. still trending is a good tool to at least gauge how an audience has reacted to a film leaving aside cost issues and so on. But otherwise I don’t disagree with the point you’ve made. I was just talking about the politics that crops up in these discussions a lot of times.

        • u forgot ra.one the diwali release…….buddy
          hav a good day

    • TheCoolDude Says:

BODYGUARD may not even beat Dabbang. Dabbang’s first trailer was just amazing. You sit up and notice right away. BODYGUARD looks like an extension to READY.

      • Dabanng truly interested the multiplexes because it had that ironic tone and certainly the more sophisticated aesthetic. You can’t get to the biggest numbers unless both multiplexes and single screens are on par in terms of interest. What happens with a Ready is that the multiplexes start dropping relatively quickly. The initial is enough to get you that big total of course. When a star is in the zone a Ready is possible. But here the multiplexes also showed because it seemed to be more of a comedy. The Singham test in some ways is the more authentic one and here we see multiplexes are much behind single screens. They could still catch up but that remains to be seen.

  21. The bodyguard title song is crap. There is so much of wanted and dabanng hangover. However, Salman looks very good and charming. Lost all the extra weight that he has put on in his last 2films.
If it clicks with the audience which it should then 200 crores is a done deal. it will open at close to 90 crores or may be even 100 crores first week. I know lot of people may laugh at me at this stage but I will stand by it until my prophecy gets proven wrong.

    • TheCoolDude Says:

This movie WILL NOT MAKE 200 CR….even if it opens with 100 CR Week 1. You can quote me on this right here right now. Dabbang had a mind boggling start on the weekend, beat 3I by about 12 CR or so and look what happened afterwards. Barely beat 3I’s first week record and ended up 60 CR ! short of 3I’s total. Remember…3I had a 55 CR 2nd week. 55. No other movie has even done 40 on its 2nd week.

    • TheCoolDude Says:

To give you an idea about 3I, Dabbang’s 2nd WEEK was 36 CR….which is the same as 3I’s 2nd WEEKEND !!!

  22. Dj this movie feels more like KKHH than main hoon naa. The college angle in the trailer seems to give us that impression and that’s why I said I am so disappointed with this trailer. They should have done some teasers first than this full trailer. They would be better off projecting this as a nice comedy or love story than an action film. Action is integral to this film but it is not just an action film at all.

  23. I was initially not sure if siddique could “bollywoodise”(for lack of better caption) this film as well as a priyan would normally do but looks like he has overdone it. Infact it would have been great if he was true to his sensibilities than compromise on his talent. Let’s see how the future trailers come out. I still don’t think all is lost for this film. it can still be a monster.

  24. filmifan Says:

Salman might not be one of the best actors, but he is such an awesome entertainer! Love his masala flicks,so really looking forward to this one!

  25. Aamirsfan Says:

i have to be honest here, i am not as pumped up as i was when i saw the first promo’s of wanted and Dabangg. This one has too much romance in it seems like.

Also, Kareena and Sallu and have a really poor box office history together.

  26. salimjakhra Says:

    hideous

  27. alex adams Says:

    Interesting contest @lords..
    Good double century by pieterson.
Interesting fact bout Dravid—-Dravid has spent more cumulative time while batting in a test match than ANYONE in the history of the game.
Saw a chink in his batting today also picked up by Nasser Hussain (like him)
Dravid hands are following the outswinging ball more (somehting that didnt happen few years ago)—thats age.,
Huge standing ovation by the whole crowd at 10dulkars entry–thats what a good sensible crowd is!
Anyhow Dravid n tendulkar now at crease @lords—should be good stuff…..

  28. alex adams Says:

Broad has been having a tough time….
BUt today he pitched it up a bit and didnt stay short—bowled both openers.
Illustrative how a few inches more matters(pun intended…)
Mukund played well—unlucky to miss his 50 @lords.#]
wtf is sehwag doing…he should not be cherry picking series .He is always fit for IPL. He would have been crucial here with those quick starts.
Zaheers injury maybe crucial but as kapil dev pointed, he shouldve been more careful about his fitness. Dev also wasnt happy that Dhoni bowled in a test match……
ps–this current partnership -dravid 10dulkar laxman will be crucial for this series…

  29. alex adams Says:

finally , it is good to view a match (india england) TRULY as a NEUTRAL.
One can really enjoy the intricacies & nuances of test cricket without supporting one team against the other .
    Supporting both teams here …
ps–know few guys have bought tickets in black for even more than 750 pounds each!!!!
A few english friends are here just to watch 10dulkar bat (probably for the last time in england)….

  30. alex adams Says:

10dulkar played well while he lasted!!
Laxman was dropped before getting out …
Dravid once again getting stuck in there—even wjhen not at his best, he is THE wall.
As i said earlier, just pitching up those extra few inches has made broad so much more difficult to play.
And swan (like every other spinner in the world) getting more spin than Bhajji!!!

  31. alex adams Says:

Seems india will be lucky to escape with a draw here!!
Disappointing performance from the test “no !” team !!–till now..
Always felt that this series will be different for the indians and will separate the “grain from the chaff”—Unsurprisingly, Dravid it is standing amongst the ruins…..
Absence of Sehwag and injury to Zaheer has swung the odds…
As for Sehwag, its not the runs he scores (or does not), its the way and the pace he scores even those 40 odd runs at the start of the innings.
These two have a big role to play in indias overseas success.
The rest of indian “pace battery” soemtimes resembles a club/county side and indias best spinner—-well, i can spin the ball more than him hahahah

    • India will find it difficult to survive the first test. England will declare arnd tea time Tom and India would hav 5 sessions to survive . Again the onus will be on the Wall. Hope they manage it somehow.

    • iffrononfire Says:

alex: india have always been slow starters due to their board which never bothers to arrange more warm up’s before the first test

even in last tour i recall in first test india allmost lost the first test but shreeshant the last haned on with bat abd saved the match for us ( and infact for the first time india was benifitted by steve buckdor’s decision of not judging him lbw …and later india was the dominant force in next two matches and won the series

same things happened in australia and southafrica and elsewhere

one wonder when the world’s richest board will understand that

  32. iffrononfire Says:

alex: india have always been slow starters due to their board which never bothers to arrange more warm up’s before the first test

even in last tour i recall in first test india allmost lost the first test but shreeshant the last hanged on with bat abd saved the match for us ( and infact for the first time india was benifitted by steve buckdor’s decision of not judging him lbw …and later india was the dominant force in next two matches and won the series

same things happened in australia and southafrica and elsewhere

one wonder when the world’s richest board will understand that

  33. iffrononfire Says:

and one thing is out in open statistically rahul dravid is the best indian test batsman ever ( though tendulkar is the best overall)

before this inning 32 test hundreds and india have lost only one in those ( that to surprisingly against zimbabwe and he there to set the game for us)

today he has gone past ponting to become the second test highest scorer and now if he continues it will be difficult for ponting and kallis to catch upto him ( though media will ignore this conveniently instead of concentrating on usual 100 hundred event of great sachin tendulkar

i can feel this is his second coming now ( with 2 hundreds in last 4 hundreads ) …….the same thing happened with sachin tendulkar after his 2004-2006 period worst patch

i have seen how media lapped up to pussy cat’s ( the so called youngsters and their agression but again on tough overseas tour its this man again both in west indies and now in england)

  34. alex adams Says:

yes agree bout the “slow starters” bit
but this is getting too common and if the board doesnt bother to arrange a proper warm up game or two, they need to pay for it…
anyhow, Indias bowling lacks fire power and is not commensurate with the “testNo1 team”.
Forget the pacers, even the spinners are not better than the others ..
The batting is definitely awesome but the fact is that sachin, dravid and laxman are not at their peaks.
And the rainas and yuvrajs cannot replicate their IPL heroics on a seaming overseaas track.
KNow they will come back in the series ultimately, but this is hardly convincing for the “top rank”

  35. iffrononfire Says:

lets see there are 2 more days to go

with the same bowling they have won test elsewhere … india as a test team on overseas tend to pick up slowly in both batting and bowling format

infact while indians where bowling englishmen to where very lucky having been beaten many times and survived ….

as spinner amit mishra is world class and he should play instead of harbhajan who is out of form for to long

  36. alex adams Says:

Im a neutral on this one here—there was a lot of hype for tendulkar from supporters of both sides….again somewhat of an anticlimax..
Apparently Sachin was supposedly playing in fever yesterday…and was convincing till he lasted!
Dravid once agains shows his class.
He has now spent more minutes on the batting pitch than ANYONE in test history.
By the way—have noted that VVS Laxman is good at the hard bouncy pitches in australia but on england seaming tracks, he was quite suspect…..

  37. alex adams Says:

    Game on now.
    england five down…
Enjoying this one—seems a win-win situation for me—hope rain doesnt spoil it!!

  38. Guess India are going to aim for a draw..

  39. Alex adams Says:

Omg– how can they lose the plot after Geting England down to 60odd for six!!!
Anyhow brilliant innings by Matt prior…
Now india have a v difficult task of surviving five sesssions.
    This is the real stuff–
Surprised at the lack of interest ….

    • I am one of those many many millions in India who lose a great deal of interest in a match the moment Sachin doesn’t have a big one! It’s not that I am uninterested in the team otherwise, obviously I’d like them to save the match (and I hope they can do so with sachin in a starring role) but the best news so far in the game has been for me Dravid’s century. This isn’t a knock on the team by any means even if I have always been a bit challenged on the ‘nationalism’ front (!) but an illustration of the fact that when God departs the world the world becomes a little less interesting!

    • iffrononfire Says:

prediction: match will be draw and dravid will score 100 in both innings for the 3rd time

      statistically

dravid: 6073 hours(highest ever) and 29000 balls (again highest ever and close to 12,500 runs)

sachins : 27000 balls (close to 15000 runs)

      • iffrononfire Says:

prediction going all wrong and england surely are deserving winners

famed batting line up could not last a single day is pathetic to say the least

        • Boss, India always seem to lose the first test of a series (greedy BCCI won’t let ‘em play very many practice matches), then bounce back strong. England no doubt is a very good team, with a much stronger bowling attack than ours, but I don’t think it is tougher to beat/match than SA in SA (especially for our players who prefer English conditions to SA ones). Certainly, without Zaheer they will struggle to win a match, but I am hopeful he will play a part in the rest of the series.

          • iffrononfire Says:

qalandar thats exactly the pattern but still again here bcci is blame for resisting technology look around today sachin was not out and as many as 3 crucial decision went again us

a fitter and stonger india will give a better challenge latee

          • The real ongoing worry is the continuing decline of Harbhajan — he gets more than 1 or 2 wickets only very rarely these days — right now WI, England, Pakistan, SL all have a better spinner than ours!

But this Indian team, while far from dominant, does typically show fight in test series, home or away, so I am still expecting this to be a pretty close series! Maybe 1-1.

  40. I’m getting a Kyunki Itna Pyaar vibe from this film….

  41. iffrononfire Says:

pragyan ojha the best indian spinner and having a much better record whenever he played is out of the team ( though i have nothing against amit mishra and bhajji)

  42. iffrononfire Says:

india’s bench strength in terms of young spinners is much better

ashwin is doing a commendable job in odi’s and t-20 and ojha whenever he played has done remarkably well (( 40 odd wickets in 10 tests ))

even amit mishra is decent but harbhajan is blocking their entry that to when he is not performing for so long

only his reputation is saving him and thats it

  43. alex adams Says:

“The real ongoing worry is the continuing decline of Harbhajan — he gets more than 1 or 2 wickets only very rarely these days — right now WI, England, Pakistan, SL all have a better spinner than ours!”—agree-I have harping this fact since ages…………..
“prediction going all wrong and england surely are deserving winners”—after the Prior/Broad partenership, the match slipped from indias grasp.
To my favor, I won a bet —knew only rain couldve saved india today (and rain wasnt on the cards)
Except the burst by Ishant and Dravids patient century, India did nil else of note and were deserved lowers.
Anyhow, enjoyed this match as a true neutral….lol

  44. i wont blame all those people who say that this wont make money in second week……but believe me, the director is someone different …he is not like any other directors you see in Bollywood these days…believe me almost all his movies made more money in its second week run….and i expect the same here…..

    • these days anyway it’s a game of getting the right initial. And Salman will get a big one here. Even with less than average trending it could get to 100 crores.

      • The law of average will and should catch up with such repetitious movie and will go down. One more flop is in the offing for flop pair.

        • THIS IS CHARISMA Taking an avg song and making something out of it. Salman looks a million bucks and some of the steps are AWESOME.

This will be even better in the film

          100 crs min GURANTEED

I did not like the latest song desi beat at all..

However I have seen the tamil version of Body guard…I am expecting this will definitely break dabaang’s record..One of the reason is that the director of the original film is handling the remake ..unlike Ready/Singham where Bollywood directors could not do justice with the remakes…Other reason is that it has a very emotional love story like Ghajini which will be liked by the family audience…this will be the biggest hit of 2011….

  45. Alex adams Says:

    Nottingham test interestingly poised.
Even this 200 odd modest England score can be a handful in these conditions. Anyhow – will be an interesting match ..
Currently a masterclass in test batting underway by laxman/Dravid – not sure how long it will last….

  46. Alex adams Says:

Laxman gone after playing a nice innings.
Sachins started like a wounded tiger—
Incitin contest and this next hour or so will decide th rest of the match(&series)….

  47. What a collpase for India.. from 273-6 to 273-9.. !!

  48. In Naveed’s absence, I thought it my duty to post this. :)

The current Birmingham test—perhaps “rock bottom” performance by India till now.Perhaps one of the worst by a majot test playing nation (forget about the no1 test team)

  51. Thiswill be a flop for sallu.. music is very average and hype isnt even half of that of Ready forget Dabangg..

  52. this dont need any promo..as its a all time blockbuster in the making…mark my words!

with due respect to actors its bound to happen when you use steroids for muscle building ( hair loss , face , knee etc ) will get affected

ya its more harder to go natural but again there are always side effects for short cuts …. look at most of bollywood heroes none of them look propotionately fit ( when you see the weight on face compared to jaw) … but ya there are exception like leaner and fitter akshay /again not high on bulk or beefed up look)

      • Since the neural condition is caused by either bloods vessels or a tumor pressing on the nerve, it has nothing to do with steroid use — a practice, incidentally, that Salman has been publicly against for a long time.

        • thanks SM… on steroid use though see this:

How did they get these fab bodies?

          Rahul Sabharwal, Hindustan Times
          New Delhi, June 30, 2010

They are Bollywood’s Greek Gods, with a seeming advantage even the Gods never had — steroids. As news of a leading actor being advised by doctors to stop gymming to counter acute muscle fatigue does the rounds, HT City spoke to celebrity fitness trainers and experts — and found some shocking truths a bout the shortcut men in the film industry use to get that perfect physique.

          The Steroid Train
A renowned fitness trainer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed, “A male star, known for his macho physique, approached me before he made it big and asked if he should take steroids to bulk up. I told him the pros and cons. I saw him after a month; he was a completely different person. Now that I see him in ads, I can bet my life that he’s on steroids. Recently, I read about him being unwell. He must be suffering from side effects.

“You don’t get big by training hard — you have hundreds of guys training in the gym… why don’t they get such bodies and only a handful of actors do? A male star who started the trend of taking his shirt off in films and a younger star who flaunted his rippling muscles in a double role in a recent hit film also rely heavily on steroids, he adds.

There’s a group of personal trainers who guarantee you a perfect body and put you on a steroid cycle,” he adds. He further says that a top actor who gave several interviews about how he acquired six-pack abs for one of Bollywood’s biggest hits and then lost all the bulk for a role of a college goer in his next film, is a “classic case”. “He might say he worked out hard for months but there are hundreds of guys who work out that much and drink protein shakes. They don’t get the kind of muscles he managed.”

Model-actor and former Mr India Aryan Vaid says, “I know of ‘trainers’ of mega stars who don’t know a thing about fitness. All they know is which steroids are legal so they can pump them into their clients. Most of the knowledge they have is off the Internet. But, they do good business because they have big names as their clients, some of whom pay these trainers as much as Rs 1 lakh a month for getting them perfect bodies. I’ve seen actors and models take injections to bulk up even before photo shoots… they don’t realise what it’s doing to their body.”

          Peer pressure?
Actor Rahul Dev, who also co-owns a gym, adds, “The pressure is a lot, especially for newcomers, so some are left with no choice but to resort to shortcuts like steroids and liposuction.”

The editor of a popular health magazine, who did not wish to be named, told HT City, “When a super star, earlier known for his romantic roles suddenly got six pack abs for a movie, he relied heavily on medications burn fat. During the last two weeks before his shoot for a famous song, he had trouble even going to the loo because it would burn so much.”

We spoke to Satya Chaurasia, the fitness trainer whose clients include Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan, and he clarified that none of his clients have ever used steroids. “It’s a common practice in Bollywood to take anabolic steroids to bulk up fast for photo sessions or shoots. I don’t recommend them because I know the consequences.”

Medical experts warn of severe consequences. Delhi based sports medicine specialist, Dr Jatin Chaudhary, who has clients such as sports stars Sania Mirza and Yuvraj Singh, explains, “Some known Bollywood stars take steroids under guidance. They first rely on steroids to bulk up their bodies and then go to the US for detoxification treatment. Steroids can be risky if not taken under proper guidance. They can lead to cancer, hair fall, liver cirrhosis, liver failure and impotency.”

“Steroids produce results but have side-effects. Muscle mass and strength gained by using them is lost once usage is stopped,” says Deckline Leitao, who’s working with the Indian swimming and diving teams for the CWG as Performance Enhancement Specialist.

        • I may be wrong, but thinking logically, I have always wondered at the side effects of botox which paralyses facial muscles, meaning, effects facial nerves. This playing around with nerves cannot be a good thing.
Perhaps the nerve’s numbness, position, blood vessel together cause this symptom.

It’s a layman’s POV. I could be totally off the mark.
This was my first thought on reading this news.

I wish him all the best.

  53. Just a under a week left for Bodyguard! Can’t wait! Sure Salman has done an awesome job!

  54. Alex adams Says:

Lo behold— the local multiplex that showed no recent Bollywood including db, bhtb, aarakshan etc isshowing bodyguard (of all films)..Lol
Chances of catching it sem high(no lethargy factor ). Hoping karisma has a small one( role )
Ps– the bodyguard title song(only)– which is actually a cheese-fest—
A bit of style n panache by salman.
Nice chemistry n rapport with katrina– something unseen when they were (supposedly ) “seeing each other”-/ whatever that entails!!
Like the new “unhinged” Kat — and this post dabang salman!

    • I just think Sallu rocks!!! Love when he does masala films like this! Complete entertainment, which is what one looks for in films from time to time.

    • @ Alex – with all due respect Bodyguard is a much bigger film than those mentioned above.

I’m in Saudi right now and the earliest I’ll be able to catch Bodyguard is on the 8th Sep. I’m sure it will do record business :)

What’s the weather in Eng been like over Aug?? It’s too hot here I miss the rain and cold haha

    • Taran is a funny guy (won’t add any thing further). However if am not mistaken all the films which he has given a 4.5 star rating to have caused havoc and I expect Bodyguard to be ‘much bigger’ than Dabangg.

      EXCITING :)

ps2–havent been to saudi–hope u dont get “singed” lol

ps3-This time hope to catch a bollywood release–surprised that Bodyguard will be that film!!!

Is Eid today/ tomorrow/ was yesterday?
Anyhow wishing Naveed, oldgold/salimjakhra & all others a happy Eid!!!
If time permits– may catch bodyguard today/tomorrow.
Bolly films get taken off from plexus b4 u know..
May have to go with a kareena specific scotoma…!!!
    Btw that’s how times change—–
Contemplating seeing a salman starter in first week — omg!!

    • RE: “Is Eid today/ tomorrow/ was yesterday?”

Ha, that’s a complicated question: Eid is different in different countries, and even within the same country it is different for different Muslim sects (sometimes it is different for people from the same sect in different places in the same country! And sometimes some countries follow others! Thus in Pakistan Eid is on different days in Peshawar than elsewhere in the country; whereas many Shiite Muslims always follow the Eid in Iran; and many Gulf countries follow Saudi Arabia)…Thus in India Eid for the Bohri Muslims was on Tuesday, for Sunnis it was Wednesday…

  56. Feel happy for Salman and hope this does record business (as it seems to be)

Anyhow, posted these initial impressions on bodyguard elsewhere…
“Alex adams Says: Watching bodyguard v shortly — housefull..
Got some “Bollywood-naive” nubile company– would be interesting to hear their views…Nice to be the “guide” lol

GF Says:You’ll probably find more interesting “action” in the aisles than on the screen.”

Well: the prophesy of GF has come true lol

Havent read any reviews so just some random thoughts/observations—in the tradition of b rangan-some “bullet points”…am a bit “spent” so just some incoherent unstructured bits…

Background/setting–Houseful #my routine multiplex NOT in a conventional “bollywood ethnic ghettoised area” –bollywood films dont find many patrons here normally–”houseful” here counts more than some other places….
#expectedly more family crowd–(but including some lecherous vagabond-ish characters—-had to be a bit of ” bodyguard” esp due to the accompanying multiple-eyecandy lol)
#85% of the film is a somewhat listless premise /buildup to the last 10% which is not only the highlight but the saving grace of the film (although that too is full of loop holes/lacunae/issues)
#My ranking of salman films in his current “golden” phase–
    Dabang>>>ready>bodyguard~wanted
#if one takes out the last 10-15% of bodyguard, it will get submerged way down into the rest of his long list of insignificant filmography!!!
But have to give it to salman & Salim khan (script consultant) for having the conviction that the ending WILL make up for the rest ..
#Dont think much money has gone into its making–shooting in india and significant bits indoors—relatively low cost excpet some songs
#good action (but sometimes too gimmicky)
#Salman carries the film (literally) on his shoulder and one cannot really fault him for anything here –he does his best to prop up this one..and he tries to put up an honest endearing/heartfelt yet massy act
#Kareena is (unsurprisingly for me) uniformly a pathetic eye sore. In addition the closeups were quite variable and unflattering mostly.
Overheard a guy somewhere–”she is so fair and “white”-what bollocks!!
A symptomatic mindset obsessed with “fair n lovely”-rest doesnt matter..lol
#There was herculean effort in making Kareena look as best as she can and the other girl (think her name is Hazel) as worst as possible. Unfortunately, imo Hazel still trumps her-although she had v little to do/say!!!
#this film has probably has more for the females than some other salman films. Could sense the females flanking me threatening to get “moved” somewhat towards the end lol(sic!)
#Music was a weaklink–desi beat was truly pathetic.
The title song & “teri meri” was reasonably alright .
Standout for me were the male vocals of Ash King in “I love u”

#it would have made this film much more worthwhile for me (not necessarily for the masses) if the last half hour was explored more.
Not a fan of how hazels character was made to look villianish towards the end and had to pay for her “sins” lol. If her character graph was more explored and “fleshed out”, wouldve been better…

btw my/our views dont represent the majority patrons of this type of stuff and for all u know, it will do v well/record breaking box office esp after the historic start……

Even in the most uttercrap films, my (hopefully) “discerning” eye does capture some key moments.
The shot (which may actually be unintentional on the part of the director)that i liked was the small child assuredly seeing the dustbin pass by from the train (where he had “disposed of the diary”)!!
With that shot the “germs” of a worthwhile film also passed by…….
