Punjabi folk singer Manak passes away

LUDHIANA: Legendary Punjabi folk singer Kuldeep Manak died at here on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. The last rites would be performed at his birthplace and native village Jalal in Bathinda on Friday.
Manak had celebrated his 62nd birthday on November 15. His illustrious career in music began when the 17-year-old was chosen to sing alongside famed vocalist Seema in 1968. This proved to be his lucky break and he went on to forge a successful career in the music industry. He is credited for popularising the traditional Punjabi songs called kaliyan. His hits songs include “Tere Tilley Ton”, “Chheti Kar Sarwan Bachcha” and “Garh Mughlane Dian Naaran”.

yes, probably…he is a punjabi singer, but, just like there was ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, there was Kaliyon ka Baadshah Kuldeep Manak! One of the best singers of Punjab!

he is one of the best singers. Almost all the time, his songs had a deep meaning to them. R.I.P.

A true legend of the punjabi music industry. He influenced every punjabi singer of the last 30 years including Gurdas Maan. RIP.

and i mean gurdas only simply because of the young punjabi and canadians youth ( who have grown up on punjabi remixes) tend to assciate the folk revolution with mann only
good to see great singers like bhupen hazarika and manak getting their due
