I made this point for the previous Vikram trailer but here again we see new evidence. These trailers are just getting repetitive after a point. The volume of the masala action films aren’t particularly large or anything compared to other genres but the top tier stars are consistently doing this stuff and the result is that each one is basically now trying to “out-God” the other.
yes did see that.. to be honest for sometime now I had some doubts about this because Abhishek seemed to be busy with other stuff and other potential films.. not sure why this fell through.. it’s also odd that Puri is doing a Hindi version at all with Mahesh Babu because he’s going to get pretty much no audience for this. Whatever the deal here I’m quite confident that the ‘change’ came from abhishek’s side.
They would have made Hindi version before Telugu. Then it would have worked.
RGV and Puri are keep posting about Mahesh babu
in twitter.
There were also rumours that Puri didn’t get paid for paa and conflicts with the.
I’ve been expecting this news . Abhishek has lost good movie which would have changed his image.
There were rumours of conflict between Puri and Bachchans.
Abhishek has lost on out on some promising projects lately. Beside losing out on Businessman and Special Chabbis, Ladies and Gentlemen has been postponed indefinitely. I would have prefered to see him in these projects rather than see him play 2nd fiddle to Devgan in a project like Bol Bachan.
I just hope that the Sippys will still put faith in him in any next venture. Rohan is a very good director and while DMD wasn’t a flop, it still wasn’t the success it deserved. And that was mainly due to Abhishek having a low spell at that time and coming right after a disaster like Game. I just hope Rohan will still place his faith on Abhishek because they click really well together.
While I am not sure about Rathnam and him working together again in the future, I do hope to see Abhishek working with Shaad Ali and Rakesh Mehra again.
And keeping away from the Dharma and Yashraj banners will do him lots of good.
I regretted Special Chabbis more than anything else though that was more than a year ago or so when the change came. Now even Devgan’s not doing it. On Bol Bachchan he can hardly be playing second fiddle if he has the Amol Palekar part in a loose Golmaal remake and the film has his name in the title (hint!). There’s a rumor that he’s even called Abhishek in the film:
As you can also see from this link Rohit Shetty went out of his way to make it Bachchan. In any case an audience is hardly likely to go to such a film thinking ‘Bachchan’ is in the title but Abhishek is otherwise playing second fiddle. What is happening though is that the anti-Bachchan media is playing this as ‘only’ a Devgan/Rohit Shetty collaboration. Some of this happens when you’re down on your luck but it’s one thing to do this sort of thing with D3 and quite another to do it with this film with that title. Leaving this aside Players is suddenly the ‘ensemble’ film and so on. So it could be any film, the narrative is always unflattering to him. Except of course when things don’t work in which case he has sole responsibility and suddenly it’s one of the most important projects around that has failed in disastrous ways!
On Businessman not sure what happened here. Ladies.. will only be made when Ash is ready for it though knowing Santoshi I wouldn’t hold my breath for this one. Again this would have been an easy one for the multiplexes but the only one of the three that I consider truly regrettable is Special Chabbis. Businessman was certainly a good masala opportunity but if he’s that dedicated to this sort of thing he could do something else along the same lines.
Not sure about Shaad Ali. He seems way too laid-back. But he’ll probably have to come up with a good enough script to make it happen and it will in all probability be a Yashraj film if it happens. Don’t think Yashraj/Dharma are otherwise much on his radar. D3 by the way won’t be a D2-like deal again. Pretty confident about this.
Rathnam meanwhile looks to be doing a Tamil love story at the moment with newcomers (though with industry links). There are daily rumors about this in the Tamil media. Nothing’s been confirmed so far though.
Good to hear. Ted will be really happy about it. I am more of a stoic on this. When Puri is on his game he can obviously deliver a big one with masala, and Abhishek could profit from it in a big way if he has a string of successes before this (quite likely because these are all commercial projects) but Puri is still not someone to get too excited about otherwise. It of course makes great commercial sense but I could think of a number of films that make as much sense and are ‘better’ masala. But on balance yes, he should do it than not. Will say I was more excited about the Prabhudevaa film based on everything I could glean on it. Hope it can still take off at some point.
By the way so much for all the Bbuddah rumors about Puri falling out with the Bachchans. AB Corp is producing this one too.
The only place in India where that matters is Hyderabad. But even here there are enough Hindi audiences who are not viewers of Telugu cinema. Even if Mahesh Babu sometimes transcends these divisions.
well as I said I’ve never been that invested in this one though it wouldn’t be a bad idea by any means. Would celebrate though if the Prabhudevaa project were revived.
Incidentally Abhishek hasn’t mentioned this film in any of his interviews recently. Not sure what’s up here. It’s also bizarre they’re doing this in Hindi with Mahesh Babu. No one’s going to turn up for this.

I still can’t believe it. As per Puri’s interview, Mahesh is doing the Hindi version.

I am not sure about commercial viability after Telugu release..
Puri will definitely show Abhishek in different image….

BM is not good , as expected by any of Puri’s movies. It is similar to BHTB with younger star.
As it is it doesn’t work in Hindi. BUT Abhishek has to work with Puri to get the macho image.
