  1. Not sure how many know or if it is even credited that Kaho Na Pyaar Hei (HR’s biggest hit) is a very loose remake of the tamil flick Love Birds (Prabhu Deva’s second solo hero movie after Shankar’s Kadhalan). Has a couple of magnificent ARR numbers. The story differs a bit in the second half besides the fact that Prabhu Deva does not play a dual role but kind of re-surfaces after he is presumed dead by everyone.

Wasn’t aware of this. I’m actually always enjoyed Prabhu Devaas screen presence as an actor from the days of HUMSE HAI MUQABLA.

His performance in SAPNAY is brilliant…love the song CHANDA RE as well…….

Glad to see Devaa getting all sorts of mainstream success now whether it be as a dance choreographer/actor with something like ABCD, and of course his directorial hits WANTED and ROWDY RATHORE.

      • Ya, I think Rakesh Roshan changed some of the elements of the story but I found KNPH very similar to Love Birds in some of the main plot points. Prabhu Deva and Nagma the heroine get into an accident after which her dad asks Prabhu to get out of her life. So he fakes his death and he goes off to London (instead of NZ). The heroine becomes so depressed she has to go to London to get back to her former self and surpirse runs into Prabhu Deva dancing to the ARR number “No Problem” (sung by Rahman and Apache Indian) which is the exact same sequence leading upto Ek pal ka jeena…lot of similar plot points if you will.

Aaah k, never knew that. KAHO NAA..PYAAR HAI is also one of the first movies to really bring New Zealand in all it’s visual/scenery glory to the big screen….

  2. Dunno bout this survey but know this track–yay

And now can enjoy the lyrics as well..

(Ek pal ka jeena, phir to hai jaana
Tofa kya leke jaaye, dil yeh bataana)
    Khaali haath aaye the hum
    Khaali haath jaayenge
Bas pyaar ke do meethe bol jhilmilaayenge
To hans kyoon ki duniya ko hai hasaana
(Ae mere dil tu gaaye jaa

    Ae aaye aao aaye aa
    Ae aaiye aao aaye AA

    gnite :-)

Yeah agree ! With KNPH a new star was born and the rage was truly crazy for Hrithik ! EK PAL KA JEENA was like an anthem as were Hrithiks dance steps….

  4. Always felt that KNPH was a huge hit for Rakesh Roshan but not necessarily his biggest achievement as a film maker. Definitely not his strongest film.

I voted for Khudgarz. Not the most original of stories but Roshan made a good movie out of it. There were great performances from Shatrughan Sinha and Jeetendra, lots of drama and emotions. Loved the main song of the movie (‘zindagi ka naam dosti’).

Of all the films Rakesh Roshan has made, personally I feel Koyla and Krrish are the weakest. Koyla was crap. And I found Krrish unintentionally hilarious at times. It was very poor compared to KMG.
