Jagdish Raj passes away…

The police inspector of bollywood has passed away. Actor Jagdish Raj who holds the record of playing a cop in 144 films passed away at his Juhu residence on Sunday morning.
His son in law Rakesh Malhotra said” Jagdish Raj had been in and out of hospital for the past two years and had respiratory problems. He passed away this morning due to respiratory arrest.”
Born as Jagdish Raj Khurana in Sargodha Pakistan the 85 year old actor has to his credit films like Mazdoor, Imaan Dharam, Gopichand Jasoos, Silsila, Aaina and Besharam. He is survived by his daughter Anita Raj and Roopa Mahotra

Legend has it that he was once even saluted by an actual hawaldar while shooting in the interiors. He also represents an entire era in Bollywood when you had many such familiar faces for smaller supporting bits… Mac Mohan, Sudhir Kumar, Iftikhar, AK Hangal, Zubesco, Manek Irani, etc.
His daughter is Anita Raj, of Ghulami fame.
