The best thing about SRK is he said politics is about selflessness thus he is not fir it.
I agree with that, atleast he knows what it is and who he is. Aamir’s morality is more about emotional exploitation and pretentiousness.

Also a major chunk of this debt is due to the Narmada project which is very important for the water needs of Gujarat. While on the topic of debt, it is imperative to discuss the interest on the debt repayment. The Interest payment on the debt as a percentage of revenue receipts also has been on a constant decline, from 26.82% in 2004-05 to 14.52% in 2012-13.

Only Gujarat govt cared for them and now they are reaping benefits like flood control, 24 electricity in villages, rise of employment and Solar plant installed on Dam which is unique and central attraction for many Foreign Governments.

  8. These are some of the worst, third-rate, absolutely nauseating ads from a person called Aamir Khan of whom I have been a fan for more than 20 years. I really hope and pray that he doesn’t fu!@ up the ‘privilege’ offered by mortals like me.

These are so pretentious, off-putting and disturbing ads that one really starts doubting one’s own self. What’s happened to this guy? He fucked his fans royally with D3. And no, I am NOT denying the right of AAMIR to do trash films. He has been as trashy as one can get from RH to ISHQ to FANAA. I am f!@#ing denying Aamir the right to screw over his fans. Why in God’s name did he have to go on and on and on and on about DICK3 being a superb script? F@#4 you. Give me an Amitabh, who is stratospherically more talented than you and who sticks by TOOFAN & JAADUGAR and doesn’t ‘endorse’ it as legitimate but as something that he stands by because he is a part of it.

And you postpone a film like PK to December because of your superstitions? Christ!!!! It is Hirani’s film and you are not confident?? What the heck would you do if it were to be directed by Anubhav Sinha!! This is sad.. very sad.. how you have sold out to the whore clubs of Hi-fi and no longer have the balls to trust the ‘script’ that was your USP. You post-pone a movie by Hirani for 6 months because you don’t want to miss out on those wh (cr)ore clubs?? Screw you man.

Jesus man, you got to get your act together. F!@k you and your and Hi-fi’s whore clubs. They are worse than any atrocities going on in Kamatipura.

I still stick by you, and your ethics because the wh(cr)ores that you earned with your trashy films I hope you are going to put to good use, and I trust you on that. Because you gave me DG, you gave me PL. But God, you got to get your act together and stop fucking being pretentious!! These ads suck man. They suck so bad it is embarrassing to even talk about them.

      • ‘Dhoom 3 was not a such a bad film. It has its points and it did well.’

        Well said.

Dhoom 3 may not have been a great film but it is NOT the terrible film it’s being made out to be. In fact some of us are quite ok with it. Yes, it fell between 2 stools, neither a full fledged mindless Dhoom film nor a drama about two brothers and their relationship— the latter, a good idea in itself. Still, a lot of hard work put in, self -evident; and it is a film that enough people lked to make it a blockbuster hit. I would be happier if he had not done it, but hey, he had his reasons , has spoken about them. He has made worse films–Merla…but I’m ok with Dhoom 3.

I guess PK is being held up for reasons other than those spelt out ( December is lucky, etc). It’s expected to create controversy especially among right wing elements spoiling for a fight–they even stopped the film’s shoot jn Chandni chowk, for the flimsiest of reasons. So my feeling is they don’t want to release the film right after the elections when a certain party is expected to win.And Aamir is also busy with SMJ–so the man obviously needs more time with PK. Even Sunjay Dutt is still to dub for PK, plus there is perhaps more work to be done.

As for Satyamev Jayate…so the knives are out even before the series has begun again. As expected.

I am glad Aamir did Satyamev Jayate part 1 and i am glad he is doing part 2 — cynics be damned. SMJ 1 was aimed at a target audience that is NOT net-friendly, that lives in the real India. It was shown on doordarshan, made accessible to audiences in small towns and cities. It covered topics beyond female empowerment–it spoke about topics dear to my heart–like the need for organic food, low-cost generic medicines, the necessity of maintaining our water resources.

I am a city dweller, but I understand the need for these topics, as much as shows on women’s issues. In Chennai we have become self-sufficient in water largely due to the mandatory rain-water harvesting procedures adopted by chief minister Jayalalitha and an IAS officer, around 2003. This story was covered by SMJ 1. As were many more important and defining true stories.

SMJ spoke to Indians about issues that matter — and I hope the series continues along the same vein, relevant, necessary for our day to day lives.

There was a follow up on each episode through star tv ‘s Asar show, every week; I hope they do it again. in any case SMJ’s fb page and website has enough videos on the show’s long term impact. Anybody interested in the issues, rather than about bashing a vulnerable star who does a few smj ads to try and catch your average smartypant’s attention–here is a sampler.

        • If awards are the criteria, then I think SRK has won more awards than anyone and will still win many.

Aamir khan fans never tell the world he is the best. They ask others to be not too negative about his every move.

Aamir khan did not win any awards. But his films speak for themselves about how much his films are awaited.

Let aamirkhan reach 63 and if he proves to be nothing during that age, his filmography is something that cannot be wished away in a jiffy.

That is why I always feel fandom in India is not mere work / talent related but a potent peripheral mixture of politics, religion and a whole lot of other things. In that respect survival of Khan trio/ Devgn and Akki for so long seem more commendable to me.

But please don’t doubt the ads. In fact they are all technically well shot with minimal chatter and seem perfect marketing to the target audience. Its election time in India and the episodes will be hitting the right note though strive for social equality generally equates to leftist thinking which the internet types don’t like.

  11. I watch very little tv; have never watched the Big Boss shows, except for a fleeting glance while rarely channel -surfing. But I watched every episode of SMJ 1 and was seriously glad that my favourite actor had decided to do this show. It was the best part of 2012 summer and I watched each episode plus the follow up. What I disliked then and what I will dislike this year is the constant carping and badmouthing indulged in by a cynical media and equally sour group[ of carpers-mockers on internet blogs and forums.

And I will watch smj 2 in the hope that old topics will be followed up by director Satyajit Bhatkal and team; the man is a lawyer-activist – children’s film and tv film director — and i hope he follows up public suggestions and covers topics that badly need to be discussed–like the rampanat rise in acid attacks on women. These are issues on which the government needs to be firm–but thew govt like our media and public is busy playing with words, rather than issues.

As for Aamir, he will survive it all–the jokes against his teary-eyed personality, his very presence on the show– saala hypocrite, pseudo, why can’t he stick to making his films, all the blather indulged in by Open, firstpost, the usual suspects….

    • I have never thought Aamir Khan was a saint: he is a man trying to make a living, undoubtedly ambitious, doing what he needs to in order to survive and thrive and best the competition in the industry. Within those parameters, I believe that in many respects, his standards have been higher than those of very many of his colleagues. As a film fan, I am somewhat satisfied with that (at different points, I have felt he sold out; or should have done x rather than y) — more accurately, i should say other film personalities aren’t satisfying me to a greater extent on that front (I know, admittedly it is a low bar).

I do resist and resent the “he’s no saint” complaint: why should this bar be maintained for Aamir when we don’t maintain it for others, not just other celebrities but even ourselves? There seems to be a little bit of a guilty conscience here: we are OK if celebrity X says “hey let’s just have a good time!” but pick holes if celebrity Y is trying to do something more meaningful, and I can’t help but think it is because he reminds us that we too are complicit in social and political structures that are unjust. Stated differently, “he’s no saint” is only used to sully people, never to try and exhort someone to do more.

Now according to latest reports, the duo are going to reunite after a long gap of eight years in the sequel to the film Bhoothnath.
Although both Big B and SRK were a part of the original film, they appeared in different scenes and did not share screen space.

A source close to a leading daily was quoted saying, “Technically, they haven’t worked together since Karan’s film. Even though Shah Rukh is doing just a special appearance in this sequel, he will be seen alongside Bachchan. The scenes will be shot either on March 6 or 7. SRK’s appearance connects the two movies.”

SRK’s rep has also apparently confirmed the news saying that he will be doing a cameo in the film, but the shoot date has not yet been finalized.

  16. It is sad to see Aamir’s fans come out in overt defense of him when really it is not needed. And to come back with the same stale points of – ‘if he does this he is ridiculed, if he does that he is also ridiculed’; ‘at least he is better than the rest’. And it is quite hilarious see that my comment is being categorized as ‘smarty-pants’ and ‘hate.’ Never knew one could be a fan and a hater of the same person. I apologize since I agree the tone is excessive, but not the content.

I have only talked of 3 points in his present career: D3, PK postponement, and these ads. What is the need to go on about SMJ1? Where have I talked about SMJ1? Complained or praised it? Please understand the difference between hater and a genuine commentator. I CANNOT say ‘All is Well’ for Aamir even if they are not. He is not God. He is allowed to make mistakes. He cannot please all. I understand. Please get out of these easy excuses and ONLY explanations; please do understand that I have the right to hold him to what he says and means because this is a freaking visual medium. They come across!!

    1. D3 was a bad film for me. I didn’t like it. And I was disappointed with it mainly because of Aamir’s stress that the script was ‘brilliant.’ The harsh fact is, Yash Raj used Aamir to rake in the moolah, Aamir used us (of course not to forget everybody used Hrithik to make money on D3). I watched the film twice to get my head around the fact that this is Aamir’s film post-Lagaan. I really don’t understand the economics of film-making much, but I think pretty much everyone showed up for D3 because of Aamir’s credibility; even ‘cynics’ like me showed up twice (the second time to confirm that I was not on drugs). So D3 making 300 cr is hardly inspiring or intimidating to me. I showed up for the film based ONLY on Aamir’s credibility with scripts. Nothing else. And I was let down the MOST with that point. So why wouldn’t my reaction be extreme? And the fact that this 300 crores ‘legitimizes’ this bad films is the last straw because in Hi-fi of today, quality is getting equated more and more with the ROI, and if an actor like Aamir joins this club, it is troubling for me. It might not be for you, but it is for me.

    2. Taking off from 1, if there is a genuine reason for its postponement, it is fine. But if Aamir has succumbed to (every argument I make is ONLY if Aamir is responsible for postponing PK – which I believe he is since he himself tweeted that Christmas is his lucky streak or something; if I am wrong, correct me) front-loading pressure, isn’t it bothersome? This IS the guy who believed/s in trending. This was the perfect opportunity for him to break the ‘Christmas’ myth. If you can’t do it with Hirani, when can you do it? (No sexual overtones should be construed). Christmas will add a 100 cr more. Really? You want to go down that route? You who had the audacity to show up in a film as its anchor 1 minute before the interval? We all know that if there is one actor in the Hi-fi of today who can buckle this horrible trend of front-loading, it is Aamir. And at this age/stage of his career, if he wants to play by the current ‘rules’ and succumb to numbers, what can one say?

    3. I am ONLY talking of the ads. Please DO not talk about Aamir’s life post his birth for me!! I have loved SMJ1. It is amusing that a specific comment I make about Aamir only gets me a biography of Aamir!! We all know that don’t we? That he is supposed to better than the rest and all? I find the same argument even with Anurag Kashyap’s fans. If nothing, the line I get is, ‘He is better than the rest in Hi-fi at least!!’ Was that really Kashyap’s only calling? The SMJ2 ads are condescending and downright atrocious. They don’t speak to me on an equal ‘pedestal.’ They look down upon me and are preachy (except for the traffic one that really felt genuine; that is how it should be – you shouldn’t talk DOWN to me; you just need to talk with me, and there will be a connect !). SMJ1 ads never did that! They are trying their hardest here to thrust ‘conscience’ on me and it really back-fires! There are many who thought AK’s tears on the show were glycerine and fake. It did not hit me like that! He is an instinctive person and I didn’t feel he was ‘pretending.’ Here, the ads reek of self-importance.

His fans really need to get out of this ‘defend him at all costs’ because he is ‘better’ than the rest out there mentality and talk about him for his specifics. Everything from his stand on awards to SMJ1 to how he is taking good care of his former wife and kids are thrown out as arguments! We all know that and it is time to move on from that!

This is not the first time he has gone wrong. Can any of you here please explain me the need for Aamir to undertake the ridiculous marketing for 3I where he went incognito for months and barged into some houses? How does that tie in with the theme of 3I? Was that marketing tactic really reqd for 3I? Did it dramatically improve the foot-falls? Aamir is the same guy who turned down SAAJAN in the ‘90s because he couldn’t ‘accept’ the logic that a woman could fall in love with a man long-distance based on his poems. And then he goes on to do FANAA and a D3. Just because I point out these doesn’t mean I am an Aamir hater!! I might be the biggest fan of Bachchan (the reason I brought him in my previous comment is to compare how these 2 guys have attained outstanding success but via different trajectories) but I find his blogging ridiculous and his ‘need’ to connect with his EF or whatever he calls it on a daily basis. Even husbands don’t connect with their wives on a daily basis!! But he has every right to do it and I have every right to comment against it because I find it a vacuous exercise. I am more interested when he recounts his experience with Mohamed Ali or if he waxed eloquent on some performance of Geilgud’s. I am not interested in knowing how many idlis Aishwarya had for lunch today or how many times Aradhya played LAKDI KI KATI.

Hard to please I might be. Oh there are better words for that – cynic and smarty-pants.

BTW, the less said about GUNDAY, the better. The only thing missing was Arjun Kapoor and Singh going at it d!@#$-style. The director almost convinced me he had that scene coming. I really don’t understand why these guys don’t get a motel in LA or join male strip-clubs. They are clearly in the wrong profession.

I think all fans are same to a degree and unable to accept criticism of their stars, even when it is valid or constructive. I have often said that at times Aamir fans can be worse than SRK fans. To add another twist there are some Aamir fans whose second choice is SRK. That is the most annoying and tiresome kind of fan.

“ or the new wave Tamil Films down south of which I do not understand a word but still connect with rootedness on display even with pathetic sub-titles”

      – totally my thoughts too and it’s a pleasure discovering these rooted films on satellite /cable rather than going to see trashy bollywood cosmetic garbage thrown in theaters these days.

btw – I still feel you are mistaking aamir’s intentions in those ads…. he considers SMJ as giving back to society for all the support his fans showered upon him with recent hit films espousing social causes. I do feel he is being overconfident in these ads and taking his core audience for granted and engaging with them with these short bursts of convo…

On Dhoom3, he is smart and canny and this is the way he has led his film career which I pointed earlier. In an industry where you can easily get typecast, he needed to break the mould and comeback to his commercial bearings otherwise he would turn a Nana Patekar very soon. What he did wrong as you rightly pointed was mislead all of us with script from Mars as reason for doing D3!!

With PeeKay delayed release to Christmas , he gets to a bigger number but then also postpones Ranbir impending stardom to another day as that was a date set for Bombay Velvet, a very big canvas movie for Ranbir…..so cunning yes !!! Today no big movie can get cash registers ringing to humongous level without the aid of a proper release.

      Like

      • Eid is booked by Salman, Diwali by SRK and now Christmas taken away by Aamir so where does Ranbir fit his release? Wait until next summer?? But that’s way off and he needs to develop patience like Aamir chacho. Releasing BV at any other date even considering it’s a masterpiece will not let it go past 200cr. Anything less will not change the ‘narrative’ for Ranbir in any case for sometime now.

Even now he wont mind if there are other heavy duty releases to counter his films. Bombay Velvet can easily upstage PK because PK seems to be a film without frills.

        • Anushka Sharma is the common thread to Peekay and Bombay Velvet….so makers have to make up their mind in colliding. Stakes on opening numbers and date clashes have gone way up with multiplex and front loaded release strategy leading to shortage of screen space. Something gotta to give..

You do however bring an interesting scenario of Peekay being a movie with no frills. But Hirani is not going to do a Dhobi Ghaat after all these years of waiting…and then there is Sanjay Dutt and Sushant in the trapping.

I loved Sunny Deol in his heydays and its so sad he is no more the force once he was used to be. His ghayal is still one of my most favourite movies.
As for Bachchan’s blogs, it is heartening that such a great man shares his day to day activities and does not forget to wish his fans on their birthdays. He is like a child enjoying the world of blogs and interactions. Thats called commitment towards his fans.

Eid by SRK with Raees, Diwali by Salman with Barjatya and with kjo tweet doing the rounds recently it seems Shuddhi with SRK on Christmas 2015. Republic day 2015 has been tossed around for SRK again with Fan or something a Maneesh Sharma movie….

His Narmada stunt was stupid, he realized it and hence since distanced himself from that. Instead now he is sticking to standard promotional means like doing contests, interviews and tours.

    • Both Modi and aamir have done well to let bygones be bygones.

Narmada is too dear to gujaratis and well now MP from where Narmada originates is also ruled by BJP. That helps.

Narmada oustees story is forgotten. And also Union Carbide honchos attitude. One was a villager’s problem and the other own was city dweller’s problem.

Genuine criticism is ok and welcome but undue anger is somewhat indefensible.

The bottom line is SRK fans will be SRK fans, aamir fans will be aamir fans, Salman fans will be Salman fans and so on and so forth. It is not possible to convert. Fans know what is genuine criticism. Just as one has right to criticise, one has right to answer back.

  20. I have a lot of respect for AnJo’s writing, may of her earlier comments. But in my humble opinion she has over-reacted here to these inconsequential ads, referring to the actor in pretty vile terms, taking of whoring and crores and whatnot. And if I am not mistaken she had mentioned, a couple of months back, that she had felt like vomiting after watching Dhoom 3. Ah well, looks like films and filmfolk can cause extreme reactions on the net I don’t react so to anybody, leave alone a favourite, so I reacted here the way I felt — upset at what seemed to me undue harshness.

The first ad featured above is actually funny without being pompous. the other two are ok, could be better.

Anyway, what matters to me is the SMJ show itself–and I am glad to read in today’s mid-day that Aamir will be visiting and meeting the family of Bihar’s late mountain-man Dasrath Manjhi, featured in SMJ 1.

Was also happy to read a short sensible Aamir nterview at TOI site. Aamir has talked about the real reason for PK’s delay; he asserts that he is not trying to be a Santa, claiming Christmas as his release time. And he has spoken about Satyamev Jayate 2. Anybody interested can read the interview here.

As usual with TOI, a misleading title has been given.

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/hindi/bollywood/news-interviews/Shahrukh-Khan-is-a-friend-Aamir-Khan/articleshow/30655302.cms

    Excerpt:

“Raju wanted to spend more time on the editing which is why the release was pushed to December,” he says. “Besides, some portions with Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) are yet to be shot.”
Buzz is, the delay was because he wanted to play Santa again. And with the second season of his talk show, Satyamev Jayate (SMJ), coming up in March, he wasn’t sure he’d be able to promote the film in June. “I had agreed to a June release without expecting to play Santa. And this season the 13 episodes of SMJ have been spread over three segments–the first five will air in March, the second lot mid-year and the final instalment towards the year-end,” he informs. The reason is that he believes the audience needs time to absorb and reflect on the issues raised, and be a part of the change they are trying to initiate.
But won’t this one-of-a-kind format affect TRPs and make the advertisers shy away? “The advertisers are there, and how can you follow TRPs for a show airing on eight channels besides Doordarshan, and dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Marathi?” he retorts.
The first season of the show had doctors up in arms over an episode on medical malpractice. Aamir insists the intention is not to hurt but initiate a discussion usually not spoken on a public platform. “After the episode on female foeticide, the male-female sex ratio has gone up by 40 points in Maharashtra and Rajasthan which is phenomenal. The episode that upset doctors brought to light that India spends only 3-4 per cent of its GDP on healthcare. If it spent more on subsidised medical colleges where students could train without having to spend crores, they wouldn’t be in a rush to earn back crores,” he argues.

    • not sure when Aamir said that he was actually in the movies for charity or for social work! But I’ll just reintroduce my older comment here:

Of resignations and other political matters..

everything you think people are saying about AAP and unfairly in many of these discussions, you are saying in similar ways when it comes to Aamir.

Now it’s true that some of his passionate fans make him out to be a saint. But that’s hardly his fault. And I might as well break the news to you today — no one’s a saint in the industry. hey no one’s a saint outside the industry! It’s a question then of privileging a) the relatively better person and more importantly b) the better body of work

Neither one implies that a person has become a saint or has given up all box office aspirations altogether. But again one can’t conveniently confuse the fans with the star. Nor can one have these impossibly high and let’s say less than honest standards where the moment Aamir tries to get a big hit he’s a sell-out and a liar for pretending to be ‘artsy’ earlier while when he does the latter he’s just a fake and doesn’t mean it and of course the films aren’t that different anyway.

Ironically this kind of contradictory logic coupled with the very high bar is exactly how AAP has been attacked! Which riles you up quite a bit!

As for Aamir being interested in the top position thank god some sane folks in Bollywood also have this aspiration. Would hate for just some of the others to want this!

        Just saw this comment today.

I must say I’m thoroughly amused at the weakness, and desperation you’ve shown here. The eagerness to grab at something, anything, **not even remotely connected** – and try to fit it into some sort of theory about my ‘ways’. LOL!!

The only connection between AAP and Amir is that they start with an ‘A’. (the others would say 2 As)

Your lack of understanding needs explanation (though I think you don’t really believe there exists some behavioural comaprison between my views of the two).

        1. Amir is an actor I don’t care for. I don’t like his personality (which comes out as what I wrote in my other comment) and looks. He’s not charming or handsome. Same way as many, including you, don’t care for this or that actor, for reasons one may have. While;
AAP is a movement where I see some hope for a country laden with corrupt people.
        See the difference?
One is man working for himself – the other is a movement for the betterment of the country (That’s what I believe). A movement I can join!!!!

        2. Amir makes films and earns millions and sits pretty in his world. He got into films the ‘vanshvad’ way. While;
AAP is struggling against a strong tide (or two) which threatens at times to dislodge it.

        3. My thoughts about Amir are idle ones. What one may have when the topic comes up, and I look back, recollect and say – nah! I don’t like him (for reasons given above)
My thoughts about AAP at present are consuming, passionate and filled with hope.

I hope you see the difference here.
I’m using AAP as a vehicle because they have the same views as I do in facing the corrupt ways in the country.
The day they stop this vehicle moving in the right direction, I’ll get down.
I’d like to know where I got riled by comments on AAP?
If responding to comments I see as false means getting riled, then did you get riled at my comment that you responded in this amusing way?

        • If you read my comment carefully, more carefully than you seem to have the first time around, you will notice that my analogy does not at all rest on the specifics of each name but the ways in which those who dismiss each employ similar tactics. You are saying here more or less that Aamir isn’t as important as AAP. That might be fine except that your own constant engagement in debates involving Aamir suggest he’s quite important to you. But whether he is as important as AAP or not is again not relevant to my argument. The point in each case is about the unfairness of the those who dismiss each name. Whatever my views on AAP and whether I agree with you here or your ‘interlocutors’ I do think that the terms on which AAP is attacked are grossly unfair (I made this clear in one of my two comments on this). Similarly whether you like Aamir or not is not something I argue against. It is the manner in which you question him or his work that seems to me grossly unfair. Just as it’s odd to see supporters of the BJP suddenly develop these high ethical or moral standards when it comes to AAP similarly it’s odd to see someone who loves SRK discover all sorts of self-promotion and inauthenticity in Aamir. THIS is the analogy. And I am always interested in the ethics or tactics of how people argue because it has a bearing on the substance of their argument as well. And these tactics are incidentally identifiable in a variety of political and movie debates (not only in India).

Either you want to see a similarity in my reactions to belittle AAP or my stand – or you want to raise Amir in my thoughts to the level of the other. Whichever reason you have it is a vile one.

  22. Ok hold on there now OldGold. I have only talked of 3 points that riled me and am not sure why this needs to be extrapolated to his entire professional and personal career! I guess everybody, from fans to non-fans, fall in the same trap of defending or disliking someone at all costs. This is what I have been saying, and somehow it is not working.

D3 was a pastiche movie and just didn’t click with me and it would have helped if AK had been a bit muted about singing paeans to the script. He did that and fooled me. And I got fooled. It is not the crime of the century. (Yes my tone in the other comment was excessive but not the intent). Maybe I would have been even less bothered about this were this to be produced by Aamir Khan! Because he has damn well shown the inclination to pump some money into projects like DG and PL which nobody wanted to touch!
If PK is not about front-loading pressure, then I am fine. Some link here says it is because of editing and I am ok. But his tweet was otherwise that talked of Christmas getting front-loading moolah. And if Aamir has fallen prey to this, then it worries me because there are hardly any old-school guys left. He did D3 and then he shifts PEEKAY by 6 months and in the process throws out other significant release dates haywire – especially a guy like Anurag’s (and I am neither a fan of Anurag nor Ranbir) whose films hardly find a release!! This overall trend as a result of one superstar’s superstitions and need to ‘rake-in’ as much as possible in the initial days is worrisome, especially if it is a person who gave a formula to measure a film’s success just a few weeks back! And the ads, ONLY the ads as of now, are condescending and come off as showing Aamir as possessing a conscience higher than mere mortals like us. JINHE DESH KI PHIKR HAIN.. and then he walks away all troubled as though he has been tirelessly working for the country for years! LOL .. & then the ad says – PRESENTED BY AIRTEL!! How does this sound? Jinhe GAS PRICES KI PHIKR HAIN..presented by Reliance!! Aamir normally has a good grip on these things and so am surprised he has let these slide. I understand capitalism, and am stationed in the citadel of capitalism but one also understands how fake American foreign policy sounds when it talks of ‘freedom’ and sends drones and rages wars for 13 years based on a lie. Anyway, the greater point is that he is NEITHER a saint nor a sinner but a person prone to excellence and mistakes. I laud him when I feel he has done well, and can also write about his faults when he errs. And I have mentioned in the previous comment about his great marketing skills and his ‘logic’ regarding SAAJAN.

I still prefer this guy way over the other 2 so no need for his detractors to claim victory that a fan has turned over!!

And to those rejoicing or keeping score of how many are jumping ship … LOL! Being a fan of a star is not like being a fan of a football team. The latter is a rather unconditional bond in most cases! You ride the good times with the bad, voice your irritations and usually get a thrill from the glories…but usually you stick by no matter what!
Being a fan of a star is a little conditional. One does not need to be “bonded” forever!
It’s funny how a few discerning opinions suddenly is a divorce! It happened when a few aamir fans were annoyed with D3 and suddenly that was a cause of a disaster like titanic when everyone is jumping off a ship! And now, it seems what is more like an argument in a marriage is turned into a full scale divorce where the “best friend” is informing one of the partners that the other half was always a bad apple! “I told you so” when you married him, when you met him, bla bla bla. Like it’s a brilliant revelation of sorts. The annoying voice that is clutching at any thread to make a point! At the same time, the voice has a friend who was always a better match! Always! No matter what! That person always sings the praises of that friend! LOL! It’s like a playground!
Being a fan of Aamir, the most annoying thing is his film NEVER releases on the slated release date. Every single time its delayed. One could argue whether its intentional or genuine…but jeez…can one film actually release when it’s supposed!

  26. My2 Cents on Fandom…

Once in 2002 i used to work as a data entry intern in Indore based Ad Agency, i used to get Rs.1500 for filling in excel sheets but had a free dial up access to the company’s only internet enabled computer which was the real perk. At that time i was not a fan boy…infact some inclination to Aamir Khan thanks to Lagaan but mostly my fandom centered around Sunny Deol. I became member of Indiafm and now Bollywood Hungama..saw forums and found new breed of fanboys..fanboys who would argue, post line after line of intellectual comments of movies and acting as if they have been born critics. This got me going and i jumped into bandwagon of participation movie talks. We had an office boy who was a big fan of Ajay Devgan, back then no one would be much fan of his work.

I switched my Fanboyism from Sunny D to Aamir Khan as Lagaan and DCH was part of the buzztalk and internet nerds were going gaga over these films. So i became a fanboy of these films and Aamir Khan to become the part of the crowd and to belong there.

Then came bashing SRK era..when everyone on the internet started bringing his old movies of the work profile of 1990s and early 2000s to compare to Aamir. I never bothered this comparison and enjoyed a lot of movies before this happened and i started dissing SRK and his work with KJo and Yash Raj and compared how Aamir does different movies and stuff.

Then came the box office fanboyism of talking numbers and boasting of opening weekends. As if we are getting a percentage of that money to us.

Today Fanboyism spans across technology, actors, franchises and even political parties. Infact let me give you the link to the verge articles on the psychological aspects of Fanboy.

    http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/21/5307992/inside-the-mind-of-a-fanboy

So i have mellowed down to a great level but still have some fandom left for Aamir, Hrithik. But not to the extent wherein we can start fighting about it.

    Mohanlal joins SJ.

The veteran actor will be endorsing the show by featuring in its promos. The superstar of Malayalam cinema recently shot promos for the issue-based show. Mohanlal will talk about the various subjects that will be tackled by Aamir in the show.

It seems that the channel decided to rope in Mohanlal in order leverage his star status and reach out to a larger audience, especially in the South. Mohanlal will be touching upon issues that impact citizens across the country — be it about Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi or Chennai.

Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India, says, “The issues raised by Satyamev Jayate are of national importance. Mohanlal’s iconic association with the show will help garner greater support for the cause of the show.”

Incidentally, when the first season was aired in 2012, Aamir had visited Kochi for his show’s promotions. The star caught up with Mohanlal over lunch along with Malayalam filmstar, Dileep. Mohanlal had apparently showed Aamir his collection of antiques, which are said to have greatly impressed the latter.

Serious kudos to Aamir for highlighting the issue of the two-fingered test; in my opinion, it’s the most demeaning aspect of the disgraceful treatement that rape victims face after being subject to such a devastating crime. Even a middle-eastern country like Eygpt (during the height of it’s political instability) apologized for it’s use of this dehumanizing test, so it’s depressing the way it has become silently institutionalized in the Indian system.

  35. Saw the episode on Rape. Much better but still I will like little debate towards the end. Most of the narrative is unidirectional. Some of Aamir’s reaction could be still edited out. You don’t need to show reactions; Any sane mind will be disturbed by stories. To be less controversial they were not even mentioning the city or State. I think you need debate in public to have intended result.

AAP has been fighting with the police in Delhi to have FIR lodged ‘by’ rape victims or their families which the police refuse to, for a long time. For this they have been beaten up and many have court cases against them including Kejriwal, that is why their names come up when calculating the number of ‘criminals’ in a party.

During their 49dys in Governement a lot of corrupt hospital heads were transferred and to take on rape or burn (acid or otherwise) victims was made compulsory by all hospitals including private – and free of charge.

        Don’t tell me that you haven’t read the article. It says clearly;
“police said they are **yet to probe** the MLA’s role in pressuring the victim”

        Later on it says;
“He was recently in news when he alleged at a press meet that he had received a call from an “unknown number” and the person who spoke to him said he would make him talk to a “big person” and mentioned Arun Jaitley’s name. ”

Hahaha … and you don’t see the link in coming up with this? Seems like nothing came out of the ‘probe’ which the police wanted to carry out.

        As for the second piece of news;

” the party’s public silence was slammed by several people, including Congress, which is giving outside support to the government, and BJP. Congress workers protested outside the secretariat on Thursday, asking for immediate action by the government. ”

What do you expect? It’s congress and BJP complaining.

In fact Kejriwal kept on about ‘Danish’ pronouncing it as
        दानिश many times.
His dharna was for the suspension of the 3 SHOs.
-One was of the locality where this Danish woman was raped. The lady left India that very night and so what could be done? She didn’t register any complaint.

-the other was the inaction of the area where a girl was burnt by her in laws and the AAP MLA was trying to get the police to register FIR which they weren’t doing

-and the 3rd was for the inaction in the now notorious khirkee case.

So what are they talking about in this news?

  37. I think the last segment where someone sings is unnecessary.
Instead they can rap it with some advice as to how to prevent rapes and what precautions one can take, how special police forces can be deployed at vulnerable and deserted places, how the courts should stop granting bails to criminals.

Basically most of our political parties have their own goondas thus encouraging criminality in society. Films where item songs are nowadays performed by heroines make women look like they invite undue attention. Every item song depicts a skimpily clad woman gyrating amidst lecherous men. A symbolic act of gangrape.

The advertisements can be reduced drastically for a program of this sort.
