Box Office India Trade Network
Queen grossed 2.25 crore nett in its fifth week and now stands at close to 60 crore nett. The film will surpass the 60 crore nett mark over the weekend.
The film has now crossed 20 crore nett in Mumbai, 15 crore nett in Delhi/UP, East Punjab has crossed 6.25 crore and Mysore comparatively is the best circuit with business over 5.50 crore nett. The distributor share of the film has hit the 25 crore mark.
The business of Queen till date and the weekly drops is as follows. The film has withstood the competition from films like Ragini MMS2 and Main Tera Hero very well.
Week One – 18,54,00,000
Week Two – 20,13,00,000 (+7.90%)
Week Three – 12,07,00,000 (-40.04%)
Fourth Week – 6,63,00,000 (-45.07%)

Main Tera Hero Crosses 30 Crore In Six Days
Thursday 10 April 2014 11.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Main Tera Hero has crossed the 30 crore nett mark in six days as it was helped by the Ram Navani holiday on Tuesday which pushed business up by 15%. Wednesday saw a drop which is a natural after a holiday but still collections were decent at around 2.75 crore nett plus.
The film has grossed around 30.75 crore nett in six days so has already added more than 50% of the weekend business in the weekdays which is the norm.
Despite weekdays doing well and a holiday giving it a boost the film is still depending on business after week one to emerge a decent success. The best comparison with the film is Shaadi Ke Side Effects, that film had a better weekend but Main Tera Hero will score a better week and now it remains to be seen how much further Main Tera Hero can go in terms of lifetime business.
BO update: ‘Bhoothnath Returns’ has a slow start!
By Taran Adarsh, April 11, 2014 – 13:30 IST
With MAIN TERA HERO eyeing a major chunk of the pie last week, one expected the keenly-anticipated Amitabh Bachchan starrer BHOOTHNATH RETURNS to open well in the domestic market. Notwithstanding the solo release status, aggressive pre-release promotion and a brand value attached to its title, the start has been sluggish almost everywhere. The morning/noon show trends suggest 15% to 25% occupancy across several circuits.
The tepid start is being attributed to the fact that being a family film, the audience turnout in morning/noon shows is usually low, with a radical improvement occurring over evening and night shows, if the word of mouth is positive. In Punjab, however, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS has been severely affected by the much-awaited Punjabi biggie, DISCO SINGH.
Meanwhile, MAIN TERA HERO, which performed very well on weekdays, is expected to continue its winning streak, especially at single screens.
Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Taran Adarsh Site:Bollywood Hungama
While the first half is breezy, with several pleasurable moments and witty one-liners laced into the proceedings, the film does a U-turn in the post-interval portions. The goings-on, all of a sudden, turn serious, while the humor goes missing. On the whole, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS is made with noble intentions and the message it conveys resonates in the second hour, although those looking for entertainment may find it lacking in the second half. Watch it for some wonderful moments and superior performances by Bachchan Sr., Boman Irani and the child artist Parth Bhalerao.
I doubt this will match the first parts total. The WOM is not so great. And it is not even a kids movie in the second half where it gets all preachy. And who makes a kids movie 150 mins long? It will be hardpressed to reach 25 crores IMO.
Yep… This movie looks to bite the dust as well (just like the first one). I has to wonder what did BigB see in this film? Complete waste of his talent. I saw it last night and found it ok … Yes the 2nd half was a complete drag. I don’t understand why film makers have to try and be preachy esp for loves like this. People want escapism not to be lectured esp in a film promoted as a kids/family film.
BigB was good as expected but again nothing extraordinary… These type of roles he can do in his sleep. The kid was a revelation. Others incl Boman were adequate.

Bhoothnath Returns Day One Business
Saturday 12 April 2014 12.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Bhoothnath Returns had a poor first day as it grossed around 3.25-3.50 crore nett. The business of the film was better in Mumbai circuit. The mass circuits did not gross well while East Punjab was hit by Punjabi film Disco Singh which meant centres in Punjab had very low figures.
The film will show growth over Saturday and Sunday but unless the growth is huge and followed a strong run over the weekdays and second week only then the film has a chance..
Bhoothnath Returns has fair reports but from this start it really needed good reports to have a chance of making a mark at the box office. Now it may even struggle to make the average mark..
Bhoothnath Returns Takes Slow Start; Expect Growth Over Weekend
by Soumita Sengupta (April 11, 2014)
Although Bhoothnath Returns has taken a slow start at the ticket counter, distributors are confident that business will pick up by evening and over the weekend as the reports of the film are very good. Also, the film is a solo release and has cornered the maximum number of screens across India.
Rajesh Thadani, Multimedia Combines, Mumbai
The film opened at 15 per cent all over India as well as in Mumbai but the reports of the film are very good. So the chances of its numbers growing by evening or by Sunday are very high. The content is good and it’s a family film and will definitely do good business.
Brijesh Tandon, H K Tandon and Company, Delhi-UP
Bhoothnath Returns opened at only 10 per cent in Delhi-UP but the film. The film’s business will increase slowly as the content is good but it needs word-of-mouth publicity. Also, Amitabh Bachchan and the kid have delivered a mind-blowing performance.
Jaspal Dhingra, Nanaskar Enterprise, East Punjab
The opening of the film is a little dull but the chances of it growing are very high as the reports of the film are good. It is, however, that time of the year when people don’t really visit cinemas as exams are underway. Still, times are changing and if you’ve delivered a good film, nothing can stop it from doing well at the box office.
Debashish Dey, Aum Moviez, West Bengal
Bhoothnath Returns opened at only 8 per cent in the West Bengal circuit. Now everything depends on word-of-mouth although the reports are good.
Sarang Chandak, Shri Rang Films, CP
The film failed to take a great opening but the reports are positive. So perhaps by Monday, the film will see growth because a good film is bound to succeed at the ticket counter. Also this film is a sequel to Amitabh Bachchan’s Bhoothnath, so the family audience will come to watch it during the weekend.
BH Basha, Bahar Enterprises, Mysore
Bhoothnath Returns barely took an opening as it is exam time. I wish they had released the film a little later when the summer vacation will be underway because this is a family film. Also, it is based on elections, so the chances of its numbers growing are even greater.
good thing is his agressive response..remember karan thapar(the man whose father surrendered in 62 war and known sychophant dynasty product from nehru era was once nailing with so called verbose and he walked out and has been always aggressive in dealing with them …there are no friends around for him in msm
Pure class from both sides!
As for Bhootnath 2’s BO performance, what a pleasant surprise. Very happy.
Again, this clip shows what sats him apart from all other superstars.

#BhoothnathReturns has fantastic growth on Day 2. Collects ₹ 5.85 cr on Sat. Total: ₹ 9.92 cr nett. India biz. Sunday biz should be super!
Bhoothnath Returns Shows Good Growth On Day Two
Sunday 13 April 2014 10.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Bhootnath Returns showed good growth on Saturday with collections around 5.50 crore nett as per early estimates. The two day collections of the film are a little less than 9 crore nett.
The film showed growth of around 60% and it was needed after low first day collections. Bhoothnath Returns now has a chance of succeeding if it can follow up on Sunday and the weekdays. The growth on Saturday was all over though the film is poor in single screens therefore single screen dominated circuits had less growth.
The film should now comfortably beat the business of the first Bhoothnath film which did not look so easy after the low first day collections.
The business of Bhoothnath Returns saw a significant jump on Saturday. The earnings at ticket windows stood at Rs. 5.85 crore. The film has averaged Rs. 9.92 crore, almost reaching the figure of 10 in two days.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh speculates “super business” on Sunday for Bhoothnath Returns.
(Figures: Taran Adarsh)

Krish,
I was surprised aswell,if w.o.m. was not that good then if was doomed.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh predicted its Sunday business should be super and as expected, Bhoothnath Returns showed further improvement on Sunday. Today the trade expert tweeted, “#BhoothnathReturns Fri 4.07 cr, Sat 5.85 cr, Sun 8.10 cr. Total: Rs 18.02 cr nett. India biz… Excellent growth over the weekend.” Released in 1300+ screens across the country on April 11, Bhoothnath Returns has collected approximately Rs 18.02 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. The movie, which has been made on around Rs 35+ crores, has recovered 50% of its production cost in just three days. Trade experts predict that Bhoothnath Returns is likely to collect Rs 10 crores in the domestic market on the weekdays. Well, it will be interesting to see how the film goes at the Box Office in the coming days as highly anticipated movie 2 States starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will be released on April 18. It is to be mentioned, Bhoothnath Returns having veteran actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Boman Irani has been mostly reviewed as a film with very fine performance by the actors but a little low in terms of the story line. Moreover, little star Parth Bhalerao also has been highly applauded for his bindass acting in Mumbaiya style. Bhoothnath Returns directed by Nitesh Tiwari is a horror comedy flick with maximum stress on the importance of voting.
Monday is almost certainly higher than Friday – around 4 crs.. The movie seemed to have found an audience. But next week 2-States release will affect it for sure as that movie is very hot in the trade.
It’s disappointing infact disturbing seeing a 2 Crores opening day for a bachchan solo starrer–this seems a family friendly commercial reasonably packaged project.
It’s also interesting to note that the same bachchan fan(atic)s who become ‘Zealots’
Abandon the same bachchan flick where it matters be it a satyagraha or a bhootnath leaving such embarrassing low numbers…
Hope the bachchan fans ‘support’ their icon and help this towards atleast 50 cr…
Anyhow…
It’s good to know that queen, Ragini, and nargis-ileana have all ‘delivered’–
A 50 cr(wh)ores product ….
Haven’t/won’t see this film but both nargis & ileana seem to have performed well…
O chhote kapde pehan ke yun nachna
To galat baat hai
O khote nainon se humko yun takna
To galat Baat hai…
It’s a close one–but Think nargis has the edge here (maybe I’m biased –wotsay folks)
I did but barring the feel didn’t like it at all. To my mind it’s a Hero-like (Ghai) tale in the guise of the alternative. Not that I have a problem with this but certain things that are completely acceptable in a commercial format become absurd in this kind of film. Then there was the [SPOILER] sexual abuse bogeyman. I had a problem with this angle in Monsoon Wedding too. Not that this isn’t a legitimate subject to be highlighted but as always in ‘Bollywood’ only those things (subjects, formats, etc) are given attention that have already been Hollywood-authorized. Even otherwise the film’s essential premise that some kind of liberation might be possible for a woman who otherwise feels trapped in her class by way of a ransom kidnapping is more than a little ridiculous, specially so in the light of what actually happened in Delhi recently. To be honest I found the film’s formulations in all of these ways appalling. Which would still perhaps be somewhat forgivable if it were a lot more entertaining than it is. Nonetheless it is often well-shot, there’s the usual ‘ethnographic’ detail that comes about but all of this is put at the service of a plot and a set of messages that I at least find impossible to digest. I’d say that Ghai’s Hero is not just better as a ‘commercial’ film or for its format but that it has greater ‘truth’ than this film. This is the point people often miss. My argument is never only that masala movies are more entertaining but that they have greater truth in them (and Hero is hardly the greatest example of this genre). Now this might seem too harsh for a film that is clearly trying to be more sensible than most films. But this is the problem. It’s precisely when many of these directors try to do more that they royally expose themselves. I actually have a great weakness for Rockstar. That was way better than this even accepting the uneven narrative. So it’s not as if I’m simply against Imtiaz Ali (even if I haven’t quite discovered Ratnam in him yet as some have). He’s just made some very unfortunate choices here.
Satyam: Ah! Pretty strong reaction from you and quite clearly the film didn’t work for you at all (you didn’t even say word on Alia’s performance). Just wish you would have liked the film a little more considering I thought of it as a genuine effort. But I do want to debate with you on the film later when I have time to spare 🙂
to be honest I didn’t think her performance was anything special. She had her moments but I didn’t quite see any extraordinary here. She carries the film, perhaps she gets some credit for this.
Ha
In my book, what ileana has achieved in the above song is truly remarkable. Obviously W’re not talking hard core acting skills but let’s call em ‘soft skills’ (another term I’ve coined)
To me, countering/matching nargis in this sort of ‘eye candy’ terrain/space is v difficult. Can’t think of any current ‘heroine’ managing this–except the current seasoned número uno – (deepika & katrina)
To me, this film main tera hero & the ‘hero’ are entirely incidental now and don’t matter at all..
Raise a toast to the pair of nargis & ileana
Ps: Satyam:(though i don’t consider this your area of expertise)-what’s your take on this nargis-ileana debate (in this context)..
Mai tera hero has an extremely silly premise. But I kind of ended up laughing at it as well as with it. Expectations of it being a garbage helped. An okay timepass with David dhawans madcap touch evident in only a few scenes.
However, it’s obvious that it was the unbelievable comic timing of Govinda and able support from Kader Khan and the likes that made Dhawan’s films work in the 90s. You give Govinda a silly line and he could improvise on it with hilarious results. Varun Dhawan is not even a patch on the former.
Satyam–just read your thoughts on highway..
Must say I TOTALLY EXPECTED this from u..word to word lol
whilst I won’t say these are ‘right’ or ‘wrong’– since there’s nothing like that…
U did say –about the ‘truth’ of the film.
I ask u –what IS the ‘truth’, my lord??
Nothing !!!
The ONLY absolute truth is ‘death after birth’.
Rest is all a facade…(& can be ‘conditioned’)
U do make some useful points though
For eg I agree that the ‘sexual abuse’ angle was not needed….
But my reason was different…
I wanted that NO reason should have been given for alias ‘actions’–and though it gave Alia a chance to show her histrionic skills that whole segment could have been done away with (may expand later)
Satyam—it’s not really your fault really.
Not many can cross over (& tackle) all genres and styles.
Imo this wasn’t a film for u–as I sometimes say in short…
Forget reading the doosra or the teesra..
U totally missed the pitch of the ball..my friend.
If I remember correctly –Even a teen like Amy read highway much better (though incompletely)…
As for main tera hero-
-I don’t even remember the name of this ‘hero’ nor will watch the ‘film’–just commented on the two songs.
But whatever noteworthy is in the film, folks , I’ve shown u already in the two songs above …enjoy…
Never before heard song from Coolie sung by Shabbir Kumar.
For those who have seen the film the original ending of Coolie was Amitabh Bachchan dies, however since he had an accident during filming the ending was changed. This song has never been released on any audio, record or cd.
Still, as a social document, Bhoothnath Returns isn’t without value. Inquilaab and Aaj Ka MLA Ram Avtar were released within months of each other, and they came to be considered zeitgeist films, filled with bitterness and cynicism and rage. Three decades later, we’ve have, almost back to back, Youngistaan and Bhoothnath Returns, which are filled with simple-minded hope and the belief that good things will happen to good people. Have we really changed that much? Or is it just that the multiplex popcorn goes down better when things don’t get too disturbing?
I do like Usha Uthup but I also like mera nam chin chin ghu – it’s quite iconic. So I don’t really know what to make of this. I think the liveliness is missing.
Bhoothnath Returns Has Good Monday
Tuesday 15 April 2014 11.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Bhootnath Returns had better collections on Monday than Friday as it was a holiday in most of India for Ambedkar Jayanti. There were only a couple of states which did not have a holiday.
The Monday figure of Bhoothnath Returns should come in at around 4 crore nett but depends on the final figures in Maharashtra and Gujarat as both states had holidays and what sort of growth they showed if any. The four day figure will be in the 20-21 crore nett region.
The film now has the chance to go near the 30 crore nett mark for the first week depending on the next few days. There is a big multiplex film 2 States releasing on Friday and that will affect Bhoothnath Returns as it is mainly doing well at multiplexes.
Oh he better be sorry. Besharam is quite honestly the most wretched theatre-experience I have ever had.
And Rishi Kapoor always sounds too full of himself in these interviews (this is not the first instance, there is a long list here). Yes, he has had some good roles as of late though this is hardly like Bachchan’s second innings. But really, he is plain annoying off-screen. Thankfully Ranbir is far better and saner on this score. Also when some of us blame Bachchan for being humble to a fault, we should really look at folks like Rishi Kapoor and ask ourselves- “Would we prefer Bachchan’s humility or the utter arrogance of some of these icons of past”?

Update: Bhushan Kumar & BR Studios to celebrate the success of #BhoothnathReturns at a grand event on 16 April in Mumbai.
The recently released Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bhoothnath Rerturns produced by T-Series and BR Studios has met with phenomenal success at the box office. Though the film had a very important social message, it fared much better than usual socially driven films. Apart from this being a sequel and simultaneously catering more to kids, the film has performed much better than expected.
Now we hear that the makers of the film, who are thrilled with its performance, have decided to throw a success bash. It is learnt that the success party of Bhoothnath Returns will be attended by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, along with his young costar Parth Bhalerao, and the producers of the film which includes head honcho of T-Series Bhushan Kumar, Renu Ravi Chopra, Abhay Chopra and Kapil Chopra.
XCLUSIVE INFO ON HRITHIK – KATRINA STARRER ‘BANG BANG’…
Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif will do some never-seen-before in Bollywood action sequences in Abu Dhabi for BANG BANG. ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ stunt director Andy Armstrong to design some mind-blowing car stunt sequences. Film releases October 2. Vijay Singh, CEO Fox Star Studios says, “BANG BANG is shaping up brilliantly. It has massive canvas with spectacular action and romance. And the film will release on 2 Oct 2014.”
BHOOTHNATH RETURNS: Amitabh Bachchan set for a solo hit at 71 years!
As per the stats with us, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS, which started on dull note on the opening day (4 crore) kept on improving as days progressed, ending the opening weekend with nearly 18 crore. The next two days (Monday and Tuesday) added another 7 crore plus and BHOOTHNATH RETURNS has thus netted in excess of 25 crore in five days flat!
The movie need around 50 crs to become a hit. I will say it is unlikely seeing the Tuesday drop. Next week 2 States will affect this movie as it will lose lot of screens.
At the moment it looks like reaching 40 crores…or less…
This movie will never touch 40cr considering Tuesday drop. This looks like a clean flop. I am surprised after reading that its makers and Bachchan are throwing a success party..

According to taran Bombay Velvet is now coming on Nov 28. No surprise here. All is well is supposed to be Dec 5. However Shukla in a recent interview said it might not be done in time for a July release. Not sure what’s up here.
The date seems to be the same (Dec 19), would be surprised if it released with PK, specially since Akshay is far from his peak box office returns some years ago.
Tevar is coming on Dec 5th now…I dont think All is well will come before next year considering the releases in Nov/Dec. Anurag Kashyap was okay with releasing BV on Dec 26th as scheduled , the issue was Aamir insisted on a 2 week arrangement with all exhibitors for PK and then Anurag was left with no choice.
“When contacted, Shukla put an end to these stories stating that, “All these are just rumours. We’re definitely starting the next schedule of the film on April 9. There were a few problems, and also date clashes with Abhishek’s Happy New Year, but all of that has been sorted now.” The unit starts shooting from April 9, in a start-to-finish schedule till June 10 in Himachal. Whether the film will release on the scheduled date of July 11, however remains unconfirmed.”

Bhoothnath Returns has further dropped on Wednesday, hence making things more tough at boxoffice. On one side people have rejected the film completely and on the other side makers and its lead actor are misleading people by projecting it as a huge success..This is ridiculous and shameful act from them as the time has changed and every moviegoer has enough knowledge/awareness about boxoffice.

Krish,
I was surprised aswell,if w.o.m. was not that good then if was doomed.

An appeal to bachchan fans —

O kare dil tujhko invite
Ho saari night besharmi ki height
Ps: Perhaps Ileana has the best ‘waist’ in Bollywood on current form..
Nargis v ileana –Competition’s tough here .
..I’m gettin tempted to roll out my dreaded ‘spoof’ here to figure out in real terms …

Nice one by Rangan…..

As per the stats with us, BHOOTHNATH RETURNS, which started on dull note on the opening day (4 crore) kept on improving as days progressed, ending the opening weekend with nearly 18 crore. The next two days (Monday and Tuesday) added another 7 crore plus and BHOOTHNATH RETURNS has thus netted in excess of 25 crore in five days flat!

Actually John Abraham is in it. Akshay would have at least a little chance, John has absolutely no chance!

A bit of sense suddenly. I suspect P.K will get a solo release once all the musical chairs is done with.

Why BOI is negative about Bhoothnath though it trended very well during weekend and did not do too badly on weekdays?
