On Wednesday, the promo of Karan Johar’s ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya’ was slated to be certified by the CBFC.
After viewing the promo, the censor board decided to ask the makers to delete a smooching sequence between lead pair Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.
A source from the board says that Karan Johar’s team questioned the board’s suggestion. “Karan Johar’s team argued that in the recent past, several films featuring smooching scenes — including his latest film, ‘2 States’ — have attracted no such instructions. But the board was not okay with the close up shots of the kissing scene between the actors. They have, however, allowed a long shot,” says the source.
The source also says that regional boards across the country have been asked to watch out for excessive skin show, intimate scenes and risqué content in new films. This is said to indicate that CBFC is currently adopting a wait and watch strategy before the new central government’s outlook on such films becomes crystal clear.
It maybe recalled here that Mithlesh Tripathi, the national convenor of BJP’s art and culture cell, had recently said that they plan to support movies that are rich in cultural values and have a strong Indian flavour to them. “Many films are released every week, but they are hardly able to portray Indian art and culture. Our attempt will be to showcase Indian social values through movies,” he had said.
Apurva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, confirmed the news. He said, “Yes, the censor board has asked us to delete the kissing scene and we have done the needful respecting its concerns.”
Just woke up to this movie ‘heropanti’

And looks more a son of Danny than jackie (sorry jackie!)
But he’s got some urge/appeal-
Tigers no Hritik –but he will be around (beyond this film)

Heropanti Records Good First Day Collections
Saturday 24 May 2014 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Heropanti had a good first day as it collected around 6.50-6.75 crore nett on its first day. The collections were the fifth highest for an opening day for 2014.
The film put up some very strong numbers in mass circuits. Rajasthan was best as it collected a huge 58 lakhs nett which is the third highest opening day of 2014 in that circuit. CP Berar, CI and Bihar were also very good while Mumbai circuit was good.
South India had competition in forms of two big films in Tamil and Telugu so collections were expected to be a bit lower. It was North India which did not quite hit the mark for the film as Delhi city and big cities of Punjab did not collect too well. The film will just need to hold these collections on Saturday to emerge a winner as Sunday should see growth.
‘X-Men’ Thrives at Holiday Box Office
By BROOKS BARNES MAY 25, 2014 2:00 PM Comment
The strongly reviewed “X-Men: Days of Future Past” gave 20th Century Fox its best opening-weekend result since “Avatar” in 2009, ending a bumpy box office stretch for the studio and demonstrating the ongoing strength of superhero movies. But as strong as ticket sales were – “Days of Future Past” took in about $90.7 million over the first three days of the holiday weekend – Memorial Day 2014 will also be remembered for the crash of yet another Adam Sandler vehicle, “Blended,” which arrived with a dismal $14.2 million.
Overseas, “Days of Future Past,” which cost roughly $200 million to make, took in an additional $171.1 million. Ticket sales from 3-D screenings, including those in Premium Large Format auditoriums, helped boost ticket sales, but “Days of Future Past” was notably not released in Imax theaters, which continued to play “Godzilla.”
Fox, which is already working on an eighth X-Men installment, “Apocalypse,” was forced to release “Days of Future Past” without the promotional help of its director, Bryan Singer, who was accused in a lawsuit filed last month of drugging and raping an underage boy; Mr. Singer has ardently professed his innocence and last week filed to have the suit dismissed.
Second place for the weekend went to “Godzilla” (Warner Bros.), which took in an estimated $31.4 million, for a two-week domestic total of $148.8 million.
“Blended,” produced by Mr. Sandler and Warner for about $45 million and co-starring Drew Barrymore, arrived with estimated three-day ticket sales of $14.2 million – roughly 35 percent lower than pre-release estimates. Although Mr. Sandler found recent success in the “Grown Ups” ensemble comedies, years of terrible reviews and derivative plots seem to be catching up to the star; his previous two efforts as co-headliner, “That’s My Boy” in 2012 and “Jack and Jill” in 2011, were both misfires.
Satyam – did you catch X-men? I saw it yesterday.
Really liked it…I definitely find this set of characters the more interesting of any marvel films. Logan and Mystique are a hoot. They manage to carve out the right level of humour in this franchise without getting to the comical stage.
yes liked it a lot but I still think First Class (the one just before this) is the best one. You should check it out on DVD if you haven’t seen it. It’s connected to this one in certain ways. But quite a ‘nostalgia’ trip this film!
Heropanti Does Very Well On Sunday
Monday 26 May 2014 11.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Heropanti had a very good Sunday as it grossed around 8 crore nett takings weekend business to around 20.75 crore nett. The business on Sunday was good practically all over, even the places which did not start of too well.
The film had collected around 6.50 crore nett on Friday, 6.25 crore nett on Saturday and 8 crore nett on Sunday giving it a very good 20% plus jump on Sunday.
The figures are very solid as in the South it has been hit by the Rajnikant starrer and at high end multiplexes by X Men – Days Of Future Past so for a non cast film to go over 20 crore nett for the weekend with competition is a good result. Heropanti should hold over the weekdays and has an little competition in week two so can have a good run for two weeks.
These numbers are really good considering the negative reviews, specifically trying to hang the ‘effeminate’ tag on him. Some have compared the romantic scenes to “Blue is the Warmest Color” !! Perhaps, like his dad, keeping a moustache might help him. However, he appears very charming and level-headed in all his TV appearances, which could explain these numbers. Lots of audiences would like to try out a movie from a likeable personality.
I seen them in comedy night with kapil, jackie looks so good but has anyone noticed he is wearing a hair piece, naturaly his son looks ditto like jackie,
Thought it was okay. The story was weak and the film takes too many liberties but Tiger Shroff keeps the viewers distracted through his unconventional looks. Im not sure if he can act, but the film does a good job of hiding his weaknesses and showcase his strengths – flexible dance moves and good fighting. He can be a fine action hero. the heroine is also pretty and a few songs are really hummable.
While Delhi was guarded like a fortress in wartime, a hapless citizen of 30 years old was brutally beaten by 5 policemen for not confessing. If it is UPA government event, the electronic media(you know who) would have highlighted this brutal murder for 2 days.
Even a big railway accident was not given space and the usual helpline numbers was not there. Even the encounter in Srinagar between army and militants was ignored.
The electronic media is simply crawling.
Almost every second family has one relative who is disabled or retarded or mentally disturbed. I have seen how even a smart person was treated as mentally disturbed as his relatives could not understand him. And he died a pathetic death. It is one of thousands of such cases.
Some interesting decisions by Modi and his advisors. He gave more than 2 portfolios to arun jaitley and this may benefit defence expenditure on valuable purchases stalled by the too scrupulous previous defence minister. And there are whispers of article 370 being repealed. Just cant imagine what protests will emanate from the valley.

Rajni has to live in Chennai. He cant have the cake and eat it too. He chose the safe option. And Modi also did not give in and stuck to his guns regarding Rajapakshe. And also Nawaz Sharif.
Regional parties which were holding centre to ransom and ridicule must be careful from now onwards. In place of a weak master now they have to deal with a no nonsense centre. How this new state of things work in future, we have to watch and wait. Even Mulayam attended.
Satyam: I hope you watch Aankhon Dekhi at the earliest. I haven’t seen a better Hindi film in the past 6 months or so. Would love to your views on this. Also would like to know what you thought of ‘Shahid’ once you get around to watching it.
Two versions of World War Z are now available on streaming. The theatrical release and the unrated version. Saw the former when it released, liked it a lot. Will check out the latter now.

At a very exclusive and private tea party on Monday afternoon at 5 pm, hosted at the residence of steel tycoon Sajjan Jindal in Delhi, Shabana Azmi met the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif.
The two hit it off from the word go.
Says an informed source, “Nawaz Sharif Saab was most very comfortable at the tea party. He specially seemed to have a lot to share with Shabana Azmi about cultural exchange between India and Pakistan. Nawaz Saab is a big fan of Bollywood. He asked Shabana numerous questions about her father Kaifi Azmi, and about Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan. He also invited Shabana and her husband Javed Akhtar to Pakistan and wanted to know how he can invite Lataji and Bachchan Saab. From the tea party Nawaz Saab left straight for Narendra Modiji’s swearing in ceremony.”
When contacted for details Shabana was startled, “How did you get to know about this? Yes, I met Nawaz Sharif. He was most gracious and courteous. We had a conversation about our film industry. He’s a big fan of my father, Lataji and Mohd Rafi Saab.”
Shabana suggested that India and Pakistan must share cinematic space.
Says the actress-activist, “Yes, I insisted that we have co-productions between India and Pakistan. He wanted to know if such attempts have been made in the past. I told him this matter needs to be addressed to the powers-that-be. He laughed and asked me, ‘Am I among the power-that-be?’ I said, of course.”
Shabana says the meeting was very fruitful. “And perhaps a precursor to the peaceful times ahead between the two countries.”
Lol this is filled with irony…all this muscle bound, heroic swagger…whose real name is Tiger…but onscreen is called Babloo and dances like a ballet dancer, quite the metro-sexual…so un-Tiger like.
Once upon a time when Tiger was a baby Ghai decided he would launch him. Of course the world has changed quite a bit since then and no one wishes to be launched by Ghai at this point!
eropanti Rock Steady On Tuesday
Wednesday 28 May 2014 11.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Heropanti remained rock steady on Tuesday with collections in the same range as Monday. The film is now at around 28.50 crore nett after five days and is heading for a 35 crore nett first week.
Tuseday is an important day as it in recent times there have been many films which have held up pretty well on Monday but then gone and shown big daily falls over the rest of the week but with Heropanti holding on Tuesday it is set for a solid run till the release of holiday on 6th June.
The second week not having a major release is a big advantage which should enable it to put up a good number in week two as well.

Appreciating Mehta’s “fearless” filmmaking spirit, Mahesh Bhatt told Hindustan Times, “Several directors have arrived through our (Bhatt productions) platform but when I see Hansal Mehta, I feel he really takes inspiration from the kinds of movies I have created.” – See more at: http://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/hansal-mehta-is-a-dangerous-filmmaker-mahesh-bhatt/article1-1223332.aspx#sthash.AxMWay5y.dpuf

the stars who didn’t attend the swearing-in:

Rajni’s absence was interesting given his support otherwise. Modi invited Rajapakshe which became a deal-breaker.

Satyam: It did release theatrically around 2 months back, but it hardly stayed in theatres. What you can do is watch it legally on Spuul (where it was officially released within a month of its theatrical release)- https://spuul.com/#movies/5755-ankhon-dekhi

Rahman fans can feel happy as once again on June 12, he will be coming to Mumbai to perform live unplugged. But, this time, coincidentally, it will be for Imtiaz’s brother Arif Ali’s film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’s music, which will see Raj Kapoor’s second grandson Armaan Jain getting launched into films. Armaan happens to be the youngest star for whom Rahman has lent his voice (in the song Khalifa) and it will be fun to see the two unplugged.

eropanti Rock Steady On Tuesday
