Abhishek Bachchan, who was last seen in the 2013 hit Dhoom 3, is all set to bring sexy back as he hits the gym with a vengeance for his next home production to be directed by Amit Sharma. In fact Abhishek has already started training under the guidance of fitness guru Prashant Sawant, and is working hard to sport a meaner and leaner physique in the film.

The actor was also spotted flaunting a wrist band, which not only monitors his body movements but also keeps a count on his calories. Says Abhishek Bachchan, “Yes, I wear it every day. I have to look slimmer for my home production, which will begin in November.” Commenting on the same, Abhishek’s trainer Prashant says, “Abhishek Bachchan has become more involved with fitness than he has ever been.”

The yet untitled venture will be directed by Amit Sharma, who has earlier directed Abhishek in the Idea commercials and will be making his directorial debut with the Arjun Kapoor – Sonakshi Sinha starrer Tevar. As of now, the film which is said to be an action packed movie has yet to finalize a lead actress and will go on floors later this November, after the completion of R. Balki’s Shamitabh.

Currently, on the film front, Abhishek Bachchan will next be seen in Farah Khan’s Happy New Year that features an ensemble cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani apart from Abhishek. Besides this, he will also be seen in Umesh Shukla’s romantic drama All Is Well alongside Asin and Rishi Kapoor.

  3. I think he mentioned once that this was a masala sort of subject. Either way with a new director it’s important to be careful with the script. Looking at the Idea ads the director has a nice touch with this stuff but nonetheless an entire feature is a different sort of beast. Bachchan Sr might be here too if memory serves. Not sure.

[Will Abhishek Bachchan produce films for himself?

As per the latest buzz, the Dhoom:3 actor will be producing his own film soon
A little birdie tells us that Amit Sharma will be directing Abhishek Bachchan on the big screen. In the past, the ad filmmaker has directed Abhi in several commercials for a mobile operator and this will be his first time where he will be directing Abhishek on the big screen. Anyways, here’s the story. Reportedly, Amit Sharma narrated an action-packed story to Jr Bachchan. And Abhishek loved the script so much that he told Amit that he wants to produce the film under his own banner.

Earlier, the Dhoom:3 actor has produced Paa under his banner AB Corp. Ltd. Abhishek has been starring in multi-star films lately. In fact, even his next film Happy New Year is a multi-starrer. So we wonder if he is producing his own films so that he doesn’t have to share the film’s success with other male leads. Also, considering that his ads with Amit were so successful, we hope Amit and Abhi deliver a good film together too… Watch this space for more goss on Abhi’s next production.]

my comment on this at the time:

[“The AB Corp fi lm will be a full masala film. I just realised that dad and I have never done one. We’ve done comedy and drama but never this out and out potboiler masala fi lm. We’ll have songs, dance, emotion, drama, sab kuch!”

I’ve said this before but if Amit Sharma could really make a film out of that Idea campaign which is to say masala married to a more auteurist aesthetic this would be the ‘sequel’ that BnB should have had long had and never really got.]

    • Abhishek kept delaying this movie and luckily Boney Kapoor was hunting for a good director for his ‘Okkadu’ remake and now Amit Sadh is doing that movie – Tevar with Arjun and Sonakshi.

      • Ironically at one point many years ago Abhishek was supposed to do the Okkadu remake. Bachchan was also in it. Santoshi was supposed to direct it as Ranveer. Ironically as well because the film has a kabbadi climax and it would have been just the right time for Abhishek! At this point the film needs a younger actor though. Not that this was an insurmountable problem.

        • Good it didn’t materialize. They were going completely wrong with ‘Ranveer’ as a film. Amitabh in dad’s role is not worthy role, Sanjay Dutt in Villain’s role wasn’t good choice either. Moreover it didn’t needed any Rajkumar Santoshi, just Prabhu Deva or any south director would have sufficed.

Tevar comes across better Arjun, Sonakshi and Manoj Bajpai as villain (Not sure who’s doing ad’s role) and promising debut director in Amit Sharma. Boney has such good relations with Prabhu Deva, he should have offer this film to him but nevertheless good project on paper.

        • yes I do agree that Bachchan Sr in the father’s role was gimmicky and Santoshi wasn’t the right director for the film. Didn’t know Dutt was supposed to be in it too.

  5. 2003 news from rediff

It was in the pipeline for a long time, but kept getting postponed. Now, finally, the wait is over.

Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek will soon star in a film together. Ranveer, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, will also feature Sanjay Dutt.

This will be AB Corp’s comeback film after lukewarm past attempts like Major Saab and Mrityudaata.

The film was launched on Amitabh’s birthday. Close friend Amar Singh gave the clap.

After Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn, now it seems the remake bug has bitten the Bachchans. Reports claim that they will be seen as father and son in the forthcoming multi-starrer Bollywood movie, which also features Sanjay Dutt in an important character. In the original film, father’s role did not have much weightage. So, the movie bosses of the forthcoming Bollywood movie, are making some minor changes in the script to give importance to Amitabh Bachchan’s character.

Dhee was an action-comedy film, which mainly revolves around four characters. Babloo, a fun-loving-guy is sent to work under Shanker Goud (Srihari), a don, by his father Narayana (Chandra Mohan). However, Babloo with his brilliant ideas impresses Shankar and wins the heart of his sister Pooja (Genelia). Soon, she elopes and marries him. The rest of the story is about their cat and mouse game.

Reports say that Sanjay Dutt along with Sanjay Ahluwalia, Dharam Oberoi and Vinay Choksey will produce the film. Indra Kumar directorial movie will take off in March 2012.

  6. There also was Kutumbh announced at that time to be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and once again starring Amitabh, Abhishek and Sanjay Dutt. It was supposed to be a Godfather remake. The project then changed hands and there were reports that Vikram Bhatt was taking over and that Akshay Kumar was to replace Dutt. However, Kutumbh never happened.
