I guess sometimes people on this forum make too much of anything.
I love Basu chatterjee’s movies but Shaukeen was not in the same league as his other movies. It has some funny moments but overall it was only the basic plot of the movie that was more interesting than the implementation of the movie itself. The old Shaukeen was equally slapstick, explicit and “whatever adjectives you may find to describe this trailer”.
If a version like this was made for “Chitchor or Khatta Meetha”, I’d have agreed to the RIP comment but no ways for Shaukeen.
True. the original was pretty raunchy for its times. Rati was very bold, and the thadki-budha adjective was pretty much born out of that movie.
The remake needs to uphold the raunchiness quotient for its contemporary time as well. Nothing to complain about.
LOL…it looked pretty bad. The problem with the trailer is it takes so long for Akshay to arrive in it! And it just looks like a sleazy film.
The other trailer I saw was a film about tigers. Absolutely shocking trailer (looks mediocre storyline wise) but I must say the close ups of the cats looked pretty well shot. Can’t remember the film, looked more like a documentary,
Kill Dil looked OK but doesn’t seem like something YRF can pull off with aplomb. Only really interesting thing is seeing Govinda as a baddie.
Actually instead of Jackie, it would have been hilarious to cast Govinda in HNY. I reckon he could have made it a total spoofy type of film. Jackie is out of sorts, haven’t liked him in a film since the 90’s.
Agree with that, it looks sleazy. So, families will stay away, and younger audience wont like to see old guys romancing. I dont know why abhishek sharma chose such a script after Tere bin laden.
Also, akshay plays himself in side role wont excite his audience.
This looks absolutely disastrous, Akshay Kumar really just signs every film that comes his way. People say Akshay’s way of doing multiple films a year is better than the Khan’s 1-2 in terms of busies but his combined BO collections of this year from his 3 films are going to be less than Kick, HNY, PK. Lol still can’t believe he was a threat to the number 1 spot at one point in 2007-08
Looks like you have not watched Holiday, Special 26 , OMG or Rowdy rathore. His 4 out of last 6 films has trended better than last 4 films of SRK, Aamir, Hrithik and Salman.
Not sure how could one call OMG as an Akshay film (it’s clearly a supporting part and it’s not even like his role in Khakee)…the same with Shaukeen (in case his role corresponds with that of Mithun in the original). And Holiday, Spl 26 and Rowdy trended better than 3I and Ghajini
Saurabh: you might be right on Oh My God as far as length of footage is concerned, but Akshay is clearly crucial to the film (he is, in fact, the title character!), and is its charismatic center in a way that elevates this beyond other guest appearances…
‘but his combined BO collections of this year from his 3 films are going to be less than Kick, HNY, PK.’
Really ? This is epitome of hatred.
Going by BOI-
Holiday – 113
Entertainment – 63 bring to 176 cr total so far.
And Shaukeens can definitely add 50 cr easily to this total due to comedy genre. Bringing, it to 226 cr.
HNY is not going to cross 176 cr as per current trending. Kick has not done more than 225 cr.

Yeah well, if you end up watching most of Akshay Kumar’s films, you’d bid RIP to Bollywood!
Luckily, we have people like Prasoon Joshi and Amitabh Bhattacharya writing lyrics for music lovers as well. I wouldn’t be too worried about the quality of lyrics as long as these two are around. Also, loved the lyrics of the entire Queen soundtrack recently…

Re: “Nothing to complain about.”
The minutes of my life spent watching this trailer I will never get back. That is something to complain about.
…although, I watched this trailer for Lisa Haydon (really thought she was good in Queen), so I guess I can’t really complain.
