Actually speaking Bachchan must avoid doing such kinds of movies now. He should be more selective while accepting roles and should only accept any offe, if there is something different and innovative. This kind of stuff is becoming repetitive and is making things worse for him day by day. This man is gifted with infinite talent and he should know his strengths very well.

I wonder why some directors like Balki, Sojit Sircar, Ramu etc are bent upon to ruin his credibility as an actor by offering him such kind of roles one after another?

  10. Now this is some film that promises some brilliant performances and will surely prove to be a time and money worth film. After all, we have three talented stars in just one spot, also, a very unique and interesting story, too. It’s like a cherry on top of the cake. After watching the trailer, it’s not wrong to say that director Shoojit Sircar‘s Piku is going to be a bumpy emotional ride with no halts. The film hits the theatre on May 8, 2015.

  14. Watched few seconds–
Amitabh has been given a HORRIBLE role
    Infact a SHAMEFUL situation
This director and others of his ilk need to be publically reprimanded!

Why did he have to present amitabh like this ?
There are 10001 oldies who could play this & better than amitabh!
Why is he MACERATING the persona of one of the biggest screen icon of Asian cinema

And why are his ‘fans’ clapping ?

And above all, why does amitabh himself do such roles
These things are all good in theory but effectively amitabh is destroying his credibility, GRACE & STATURE
By PROSTITUTING his legend ( as somebody pointed out here before!!)

    This is personal
But if I was in that situation, would never have entertained such roles–forget hearing or doing them!

why is it that every ” tom dick and harry” expects amitabh to do something dhoom dhamaka,i think he has done absolutely wonders to this role,he looks just about right.

name any other actor who has done varaity role, some are stuck to romance and still stuck there approaching 50s running aroung 20 year old girls, some are stuck to action as ever and some are still stuck to art films…all kudos to Big B considering his ages that whatever challenging roles given he is giving 100%. stop complaining …….

This is a DEEPIKA vehicle which is fine
Will comel to her ‘acting’ & ‘styling’ & ‘diction’ later
    But
GOOD to see deepika with clothes on, for a change

This also goes to show HOW MUCH deepika EXPOSES in real n reel life

As I said–It’s a PLEASANT SURPRISE (infact shock!) to see Deeepika here with some clothes on…

I don’t see anything absurd in BOI’s above comment. They have simply answered a question regarding age of stars Just by quoting an example of Piku. I fail to understand why some Bachchan fans try to play victims whenever somebody puts his point of view on a subject related to Bachchan directly or indirectly? As far as Piku trailer is concerned, Deepika is playing a character of Piku and toilet problem is related to Bachchan. Now I also question to some people here as who could have imagined in one’s dreams during 70’s or 80’s that one day day Bachchan has to play this sort of charecter in a film whoes lead actor is a female? This is what age can do to any star/actor. One day Khans will also be playing such characters if they continu. BOI wanted to convey the same message but people have started twisting the facts just for the sake of their ego Which itself is absurd and shameful.

      Like

    • Agree with Charan. Don’t think BOI is undermining the only Bachchan here.
The success of Amitabh is doing films at the age of 73 and his son doing lesser films at the age of 38, flopping but still managing to get work but did manage to get the best girl of the town.
Don’t see any other actor achieving this distinction.

Do you think Bachchan fans are such fools that they cant imagine an actor in his 70s not taking the centre stage. Didnt Ashok Kumar do that in film after film?

Both sides are right or wrong. I belong to the second category but understand the alternate point of view. Will not watch PK. Will revisit DON instead.

      Utkal Mohanty,
I don’t think you have understood my point here. I’m not saying anything against Bachchan’s charecter in Piku. It is ok but my point is about age factor as when you go to 70’s or 80’s and try to recall Bachchan’s persona, you can’t imagine about him doing this kind of stuff. This is whathow can play the role in any actors career.

Shweta Bachchan on Big B’s on-screen daughter

Your thoughts on the Piku trailer?

I’d like to see more of him in the trailer! Look forward to watching the film.

Which five words would you use to capture your dad’s essence?

You cannot capture his essence in words he is indescribable. To me he is the length and breath of “my” entire universe.

How often do you talk and meet him now that you live in a different city?

Everyday. We are in touch everyday he texts me every morning without fail.

Who according to you is his best screen daughter?

Well, I would have to say Deepika.

How was he while growing up? A fun dad or a disciplinarian?

When I was growing up he was working extremely hard. I started spending more time with him when I went to college. Mom was the disciplinarian.

Are you more close to him or mom? Who are you more likely to go to with a problem?

I am close to both, can go to either one with my problems.

In what ways are you like him?

We are both shy and to a certain extent introverts.

What feedback does he give you about the column? Does he critique them?

He is extremely biased and likes everything I write, whether it’s good or not.

What were his words to you when you were getting married and moving to Delhi?

That is my most precious and private moment, and I would like to keep it so.

How has your equation and rapport with him evolved over the years?

Absolutely, while growing up I didn’t see him much. As I grew older, he became a bigger part of my life. Today, I spend a lot of time talking to him, we talk about everything from his work, current affairs, music, from the mundane to the essential.

Any favourite holiday memory with dad?

He is at his best on holidays. We enjoy doing regular stuff going out for movies, lunches, shopping! Walking on the street uninterrupted.

What kind of a grandfather is he?

    He is an indulgent grandfather.

How was it being a famous father’s daughter. Do you have people coming up to you to talk about him?

People come up all the time, and one never grows tired of hearing how he has touched their lives.

Any phrase he uses all the time while talking to you…

He is a man of few words.

Any piece of advice he gives you all the time…

Ahhh, where to do I start so many things….

What is it that one parenting tool that you learned from him that you have applied to your kids?

To learn from you children. He is always asking and learning he wants to know what the kids are listening to today, what kind of games they play, books they read, clothes they wear…

As his daughter what do you feel when you see him playing father to actresses?

To be very honest, we see it him doing his job. We are used to sharing him with the world.

He reads your columns before they go to print. Do you see his films before the release?

No, I see his films when they come out, in the hall with the rest of the world.
