  1. House, build up, all characters and whole setup is so western if you change actors from indian to foreign actors, it will fit to be western film with no change even in a single frame.

  3. its a fantasy….a movie……pretty sure most of our households are not exactly like the ones in the tv dramas either with all those expensive saris…..on a separate note, dont think it will be a huge success, will do moderately …like that …Meri Brother ki Dulhan….a timepass movie…..

    • Apart from the fact that every male here is a Punjabi, there is a certain “un-evenness” built into the casting: Fawad Khan is always himself, and comes across as a rather posh Lahori/Pakistani Punjabi, and his accent and everything in the trailer is rather different from that of his brother/father (the grandfather’s more “salt of the earth” accent is more explicable). Personally I find that jarring, just as was the case in “Kill Dill”, where he was unable to get into the skin of the character (stated differently, only in films like Khoobsurat or Tv serials like “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” or “Humsafar” does he end up seeming appropriately cast — he has no range, although he is quite good within that range).

      • Ali Zafar was in Kill Dil, not Fawad

        • Very true (my bad): but the same “posh Punju” problem as Fawad that made him a misfit when juxtaposed with Ranveer and Govinda…(Ali Zafar was fine in a film where that isn’t an issue, like London Paris New York)…

Ali Zafar is Punjabi…Fawad Khan was born in Karachi!

        • Dude he might have been “born in Karachi” but I don’t think you’d deny that he is Punjabi, no (I don’t know if he is “ethnically” Punjabi or Pathan, but I am pretty confident he is not an “Urdu speaker”, and I believe he considers Lahore his home city)? Rishi Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra were also not born in Punjab, I suspect…

No..I don’t think Fawad is Punjabi. His accent does not come across as one. When I think of Punjabi (atleast in Pakistan), actors like Shaan Shahid comes to mind!

        • thecooldude: his accent to me comes across as very “upper-crust” Lahori. Shaan might have a more “populist” kinda accent, but that goes to the point I had made initially: both Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan have “posh Punjabi” accents, and Fawad in the Kapoor & Sons trailers seems out of step with the rest of the family (in a way Rishi Kapoor does not; with Siddharth well he doesn’t do anything I suppose)…

I know that ‘born’ is not a criteria (Shahid Afridi is Pathan even though he is from Karachi) but Fawad Khan def comes across more as a Urdu speaking guy than Punjabi.

Looks like Fawad was brought up in Lahore which is why you may feel that….my last 2 cents on this 🙂

I do agree regarding your Kapoor and Sons point that Fawad’s accent comes across as completey different than everyone else….same problem that Ali Zafar has in all his movies (except Tere Bin Laden)
