  1. Where is the title character? Is it about his sister only?

    • It is about Sarbjit only. But then she thew a fit and stopped shooting because Hooda was talking about Sarbjit (and she felt discounted). So the poor producer has to ‘promote’ her now. So in a movie where she is a character (sarabjit’s sister), in the poster they have to give her 100% coverage. 😦

This looks to be a Bachchan influence on poor makers. How come they’ll reveal image of anyother star when Bahu rani is there? When it comes to promotion regarding B achchans, LOGIC GAYA TEL LAENE.

      • That couldn’t be more wrong. The journey of the film is through the sister. Sarbjit was merely jailed and imprisoned for 23 years. It was Dalbir who ran from pillar to pole to get her brother out. Randeep has shot mostly the jail scenes where he is shown to be tortured and attacked. But the rest of the story unfolds in India where Dalbir is spearheading the campaign to get him released. So showing Randeep on the poster would have been misleading IMHO. This poster seems apt as far as their roles and screentimes go. Don’t go by silly rumours or gossip printed by the media.

  2. Movie might be Okay with great performances but this is one of the most ridiculous media coverage for years. Don’t see the big deal of this issue. Sarabjit was caught in Pakistan and they believed that he was a secret agent. Even some Indian unconfirmed sources claimed that he was working a secret agent. He claimed he is NOT but who ever claims he’s a secret agent and there is never any trace. So the sister fighting saying he’s not agent makes no sense when the real agents don’t even reveal that to their immediate family. No one would know except the govt officials. So, how in the world can anyone claim he’s not? Moreover its not like he was arrested from his home but directly in the land of Pakistan and then claiming. So many of them are shot at sight at either border and just coz he was not shot and put in jail.. there’s huge struggle to get him released and then claiming he’s innocent and all that drama. What’s the worst scenario? That he’s innocent. But so are many others.. once you cross the border, expecting to live and come back safe is far off dream IMO. So many Indians die so cheaply in India itself on false charges without doing anything and they made a huge issue coz one Indian is dying in other country(going through the court case get convincted, etc). It is very frustrating to see in trying to make a hero out of Sarabjit or his sister.

    • You are blind by love for srk and hate for everyone else, even for your country.
”Singh was caught on an unmarked Indo-Pakistani border area in Pakistan and arrested by the Pakistan Rangers near Kasur.”

He was not found in pakistan, he was a farmer on the border of pakistan, found without any weapon. If so, how come munni from Bajrangi bhaijaan wandered along the border. and there are many such incidents in rajasthan/punjab/gujarat where people especially farmers/fisherman become victim.
And it happened long back when there wasnt much security along the border. And evenif he was a spy, lets assume 1% chance, then why do you presume they wont keep this angle open in the story.

There is enough meat in story on the struggle of her sister for his release, and later she was dumped by same some people for cheap publicity.

        • he was indeed caught on the border. This has many times happened bet. north and south korea too. Of course everyone who accidently crossed over to north korea, the north koreans are going t say “they are agents”. Sahi hai naa. Same with people who are poor farmers, fishermen. They become pawn in the hands of govt. who then want to use them to negotiate release of their terrorists what not. Otherwise they could have killed the real agents jaldi se, why keep him imprisoned? Even they know that he was just a farmer.
What I don’t understand is why Ashwarya is pouting in this picture? That is inappropriate expression for this movie, I think.

So, him being an innocent and was jailed by Pakistan is a big deal through legal procedure and warrants a national issue? So, there are no innocent people jailed by own Indian govt? That’s precisely my point. Okay, assume he’s innocent but he’s just One of the many unnumbered people killed around the border area over the years. Media has just selected this one case and highlighted and dragged so much that now a movie is being made. There are countless innocent people lying around in Indian jails as well and they are equally or more suffering.

  4. Too much reaction over one poster.

Films is a business after all. It’s simple logic, Ash is more saleable than Hooda. Not saying it’s right but that’s just how it is.

Bhai, when you’r presenting a realistic story on a man and who is in jail since long, you’r supposed to be a bit honest while handing different aspects related to story.
Here it’s the matter of Bahu Rani and nothing else.

Remember, Baaghban first or 2nd promo had salman song.

    • It’s not just that. The film is more about Ash’s struggle to get Randeep out. She has the highest screen time in the film. It is but obvious that she will be the highlight of the poster.

  5. WRONG! The story is about Dalbir Kaur and the story is from her perspective on the whole Sarbjit situation, the makers actually mentioned this in the announcement. It is a female oriented film. She is protagonist and Sarbjit is more of a catalyst.

WHAT NONSENSE!! The film is about Dalbir Kaur than Sarbjit, please get your facts right before commenting. Infact Ash was the one announced first, others joined afterwards.

  7. Apart from commercial reasons, there might be a logical reasoning as to why the image of Dilbar/Rai is being shown rather than Sarabjit. The movie might be focusing more on the bureaucratic and emotional travails of the family — sister particularly — in order to get Sarabjit released. It is the impact on family and what they go through rather than the ‘technicalities’ of how, why, and when Sarabjit got arrested or what HE goes through during incarceration. So the movie is titled Sarabjit, but the meat in the story works around the family. Just my 4 cents.

However, I do not place such high hopes of logic on this film simply because it is directed by Omung Kumar – the director of cliche-ridden MARY KOM [Husband’s character was the only one that was fleshed out with some soul].

One of the better portrayals of sister-brother relationships I recently watched was in MILKHA. It was a manipulative tear-jerker role but Dutta played it with amazing grace against the wooden and hoary Akhtar.

This one looks like a sureshot disaster. Ash will ensure its doomsday by her bad acting. Kangana would have suited the role though box office prospects wouldn’t have changed much.
