Rajinikanth’s Kabali Teaser takes the internet by storm, records highest likes
The teaser of superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ was unveiled earlier today and the teaser has already garnered 2.2 million views and 187,000 likes in less than 10 hours.
The minute-long teaser introduces viewers to Rajinikanth’s character Kabali, who goes on to say that he is no stereotypical gangster, in his typical hard-hitting style which will be received with whistles in theatres. His inimitable laugh is also one of the highlights of the teaser.
Towards the end of teaser, there’s a shot of Rajnikanth from the 70s, where the superstar is seen walking out of a restaurant.
Rajinikanth plays an ageing don in the film. The Pa. Ranjith directed gangster film also stars Radhika Apte, Kalaiarasan, Dinesh and Ritwika.
In Bollywood, the most liked trailer is Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN which has 176,629 likes. Rajnikanth’s Kabali teaser has already surpassed that in less than 10 hours.
The first Sultan teaser, which was unveiled about 20 days ago, currently has 116,609 views.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kabali has been already booked for Rs 200 crore, say sources. It will be shown in around 5000 screens around the world. For the first time ever, an Indian film will be dubbed in Malay, Chinese and Thai. The film is also breaking ground in Indonesia.
The film’s producer Kalaipuli Thanu, who gave Rajinikanth the “superstar” title in the Eighties, said: “Believe it or not, in the US alone 500 screens would show the movie. It’s normally impossible. We have achieved it.”
Kabali’s promotions too will literally scale new heights. A few Air Asia planes will be painted around the Kabali theme. At low altitudes, these will draw eye balls. Onboard passengers will be served a special Kabali menu.
The superstar has chosen a young film and music director. The Rs 160 crore film is about don Kabaleeswaran and Rajinikanth sports a bearded look that suits his age.
Actor and film historian Mohan Ram says, “Rajini’s charisma is undying. He should continue to pump the industry with funds through his films.” On his new look he said: “Historically he has the youth to give him from the past or from the most successful past. So it’s magic at work.”
Actress Radhika Apte is the film’s leading lady and Taiwanese superstar Winston Chao will play the villain. Kabali’s teaser received 20 million views on YouTube. Over the weekend, the film’s music too will be released on the social media. The film is slated for a July release.
If PA Ranjith is successfully able to marry MADRAS’s grittiness with Rajnikanth’s antics, this will be massive!!
I have never been able to warm up to this guy as a non-Tamilian and non-south India..post ’90s, he did turn into a caricature..But there have been surprises too what with DALAPATHI and the biggest of them all till now, ROBOT.
I am actually eager for this one..mainly since I want to see what PA RANJITH is able use him as wisely as SHANKAR..
On that note, can’t stop hearing the sound-track..especiallly NIRUPPA DA..
Santosh Narayanan is one of the great talents in the Tamil industry…has a great repertoire..
S.V.Rajanedra Singh Babu, the Chairman of Karnataka Chalanachithra Academy the has confirmed that no Kannada film will be hitting the screens on July 22. A few films that were earlier scheduled on that day have been postponed by a week to make way for ‘Kabali’. This is because no one is ready to clash with the indomitable Superstar and burn their pockets.
‘Kabali’ will be releasing in over 300 screens across Karnataka and also a few Five Star Hotels in Bengaluru.
Affecting the trade of film industry of another state. This is possible by only one person and his name is Rajinikanth !.
The latest addition to the long list is that ‘Kabali’ will be the first South Indian Film to be released in the Hawaii state of USA. A source from Cine Galaxy which has acquired the US distribution rights has confirmed the news that ‘Kabali’ will be released in Regal Dole Cannery movie hall located in Hawaii.
‘Kabali’ has been produced by Kalaipuli.S.Thanu and directed by Pa.Ranjith with Superstar Rajinikanth and Radika Apte in lead roles.
My only request to all fans would just don’t expect too much as hyped . Just watch as if you are about to watch Ranjith’s MADRAS, with the same mindset and then you’ll enjoy it, but over expectations will disappoint you. Doesn’t the film isn’t worth the expectations, but what you expected would have been a mass movie, but it’s class here.
In a hill village of Kerala, the Dalapathi Rajinikanth Welfare Association, a 25-year-old organisation started by his admirers, is planning to run 10 buses to Thrissur for the first day of the film’s release. And, an enthusiast on a visit to India from the US intends to delay his return home till he has seen his film.
The frenzy defies logic. The critics remain flummoxed. ‘Nowhere in (the) world, a man who looks like this can be (a) superstar. I wonder what he did to God that God did this to him,’ recently tweeted filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. Wonder as one may, but the fact is that there is no denying the ‘Rajinikanth Phenomenon.’
Behind the hype and hullabaloo is a simple 65-year-old balding man who was born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad in Bengaluru, who lost his mother at the age of five, worked as a carpenter, a coolie and a bus conductor to make a living, and finally found a calling in Tamil cinema.
