We all know that, after exiting the corporate world, Ronnie Screwvala is now all set to make his first film under his own production. While the film is titled Love Per Square Foot, it is being made by the debutante director Anand Tiwari. The film stars Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar.

The latest update on Ronnie Screwvala is that he has signed up Abhishek Bachchan and Irrfan Khan for his next production, which happens to be a light-hearted rom-com. The film will see Akarsh Khurana making his debut as a film director in Bollywood. Akarsh Khurana has co-written the script with Hussain Dalal.

As per the reports, the still-untitled film will have Abhishek and Irrfan playing friends, who are forced to take a road trip together due to unavoidable circumstances. The film’s leading lady is yet to be finalised. Buzz is that, the film’s makers eagerly want to cast a fresh face in the film as the leading lady. The film is expected to roll early next year.

  1. Does sound interesting on paper (even if AIW was one disastrous road movie).

The presence of Irfan Khan is re-assuring. Not that it guarantees a quality film in itself, but rather it ensures that you have another competent performer. It’s much, much better than having ‘wooden’ John Abraham!

I do think that Abhishek-Irfan can make an interesting duo. They have that under-stated comic timing.

It’s a project with a debutant director, so it may be slightly risky. But glad to see Abhishek signing new projects. The sooner, a film of his hits the theatres, the better.

    • there seems to be a rumor a week for Abhishek. Supposed to be in 9-10 films by now. Let’s see which ones actually happen. Of all the stories I was truly excited at the possibility of another Ratnam film.

        • the Indo-China war is an odd choice. Not the subject for Dutta but the fact that this was such a bad loss for India. You can do a story set against this backdrop but Dutta doesn’t do this. If you deal directly with the war it might be a hard sell, specially in today’s India. I wish Dutta would return to his original Rajasthan setting.

He says towards the end of the interview that the Ministry of Defence asked him to make a movie on the Indo-China war despite the loss

    • but this makes me very suspicious of the ideological agenda behind such a move!

      • Valid point. Like you said it’s hard to see the benefit in doing the movie as it’s hard to see how they can snatch victory from the known defeat unless they’re going to focus on a battalion or squadron that was successful in their mission despite the overall defeat
