One has to give it to Akshay. This guy is a workhorse with a movie releasing every few months. But this toilet love story might find it difficult to do 100 cr. If it does then its will be quite a streak with a biggie assured in 2.0.

It will be difficult for this one to do over 100cr. The theme does not look like one to appeal universally. It is coming during Ramzan period as well which is a low period BO wise. The director and the most of the cast are quite unknown.
Looks like a purely muliplex kind of deal. With such limited appeal, I would be surprised if it does huge business. I am looking at a report that says the shooting is wrapped up. They’ve shot it very quickly, it seems because only 3 or 4 weeks back, there were reports of the shooting having started.

This us to be THE riskiest project taken by any actor in a main role.
Usually stars do a cameo is such films to keep their image and stardom safe. This can be an extraordinary movie if made well. If this has been a 2013 release, I would have been wary. But now one can vouch that this will be a very good story, script and movie – thanks to new found confidence in Akshay Kumar and his films. It’s now a general feeling.

So, what is Akshay Kumar’s line-up, Naveen? As a fan of his, you will probably know. The amount of films that he signs, I can’t keep track. From what I gather, he has the following:

There was a Murugadoss film re-make called Ikka. I don’t know if it is still on.

Akshay Kumar : I have earned enough money
Actor Akshay Kumar says the business aspect of a film doesn’t interest him much, as he has made enough money and now wants to focus on content and character. Akshay has delivered back to back hits like ‘Rustom’, ‘Housefull 3’, ‘Airlift’ and ‘Singh Is Bliing’.
“For me the love of my audience is more important than the business. I think I have earned enough money. It is also important to get the right script, character, director and studio. It was my first experience with them and I would want to do more films for them,” Akshay told reporters during a press conference to mark the success ‘Jolly LLB 2’.
‘Jolly LLB 2’, sequel to the 2013 hit film of the same name had Akshay playing the role of a lawyer and he says for his role he was fully dependent on director Subhash Kapoor.
“I have never dealt with lawyers, as I never got into in any legal trouble. Subhash Kapoor (director) explained to me everything because he was a political journalist before turning a director. So, he had covered cases and knew how it works. I have never been inside a court.”
Despite delivering hit films one after the other the 49-year-old star doesn’t think he understands the mindset of the audience. “I don’t think I have managed to catch audience’s pulse… it is just a phase and your hard work pays off eventually. Many people make good films but they don’t do well. But they always think that they are making ‘Mughal-e Azam’ or ‘Pakeezaah’. But it does not happen… some films work, sometimes it doesn’t.”
Appreciating the work of his co-stars Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor, Akshay says the sequel has done well primarily because of the team work. “I think what has helped this film is team work and screenplay. Saurabh Shukla, Annu Kapoor, they are the biggest pillars of the film. Huma Qureshi and Sayani Gupta have also done a wonderful job. I got to learn many things from Saurabh and Annu ji.
“I always used to crack this joke on the sets that Subhash has got six actors from NSD and four actors from FTII and I am the only one who is from Khalsa College.”

I am liking Akshays line-up quite a bit.
Not sure of Toilet Prem Katha (hopefully it turns out to be a small sweet film). And then he is working with directors like Shankar, Balki, Reema Kagti and Neeraj Pandey – all of which can be interesting films.
Not to forget he has these movies lined up after 4 back to back hits from Airlift to Jolly LLB 2.

2.0 starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in the lead role is one of the most awaited release of the year after Baahubali 2. The film with the impressive star cast is also one of the most speculated about movies. From the characters to their roles, every tiny detail is written about. Some media reports have suggested that superstar Rajinikanth has played five different roles including two dwarves while Akshay Kumar will be seen in 12 different avatars in the upcoming sci-fi film, 2.0. Putting all the speculations to rest, director Shankar has clarified that the news was not true. “No,” he said while responding to a fan’s question over the alleged multiple roles of Rajinikanth and Akshay in the film.
Earlier, reports suggested that besides playing Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti (the robot), Rajinikanth has apparently also played two dwarves and a negative role. And Akshay’s interesting look inspired by crows, which was leaked online even before the filmmakers officially released it at a grand event in Mumbai, is also just one of the 12 looks he had sported in the film apparently.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and Revathy’s ‘Good Morning Sunshine’ based on same story?
There’s almost a sense of déjà vu for Akshay Kumar. Just before Rustom (2016) released, filmmaker Pooja Bhatt had spoken about her long-in-the-making project, Love Affair, being centered on the same subject — the 1959 Nanavati murder case.
Now, as Akki gears up for the release of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha themed around PM Narendra Modi’s pet project, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, we hear another film on the sanitation campaign is in the works.

Too much of coincidence with recent Akshay releases. Pooja’s Nanavati Murder case movie was announced first and then you have Rustom announced and made and even released. Now, Good Morning Sunshine/ Toilet. Similarly Padman vs Phullu. 4 films in a row!!

In a tweet, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu praised Akshay Kumar for his efforts to spread awareness about PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign through his film
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar have begun promoting their upcoming film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. On Tuesday, the stars met Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in New Delhi and spoke about their film which deals with the need of sanitization in India and closely identifies with PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign. In a tweet, Mr Prabhu praised the 49-year-old for his efforts to spread awareness about government’s campaign through his film. He wrote: “Pleasure meeting @akshaykumar , fine actor,wonderful human being.Appreciate his efforts to spread awareness abt #SwachhBharat through cinema (sic).” The Housefull 2 actor thanked Mr Prabhu for his kind words. He tweeted: “Thank you so much for your kind words and time Sir. Looking forward to associating and making a difference.”
Last week, the Airlift actor met Prime Minister Modi. In his tweet, Akshay Kumar revealed that PM Modi’s ‘smile at just the title made his day.’

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh and co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey. The film also stars Anupam Kher and Sana Khan in supporting roles. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is scheduled to release in theatres on August 11.
Bhumi Pednekar posted a selfie with her co-star Akshay Kumar on social media. “With a lot of pride we start our journey to bring our Prem Katha to you.It all begins today @akshaykumar @ToiletTheFilm #swachhazaadi #delhi #gratitude,” she wrote.
Akshay Kumar recently won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in 2016 film Rustom. He is currently busy shooting for R Balki’s Padman along with Sonam Kapoor.
After Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in Aanand L Rai’s Shubh Mangal Savdhan, co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana.

Animals dont have toilets! They use nature. I think whales and sharks dont have toilets along with innumerable sealife. They use sea as their toilet.
The world itself is a big toilet!

LOL – a cat is using my garden to do it’s stuff in for months now. I’m told the cat has marked it’s territory.
A solution I have been told is to re-mark that territory with my own urine. Might give it a spray, see if it works.

This film will work big time in India if it connects well with the audience. Plus, clash with Srk starrer will make it more public friendly in the country as lot drama like DESHBHKT( Akshay) vs DESHDROHI( Srk) will come to surface by that time. Bhakts will leave no stone unturned to make sure that SUCH BHARAT ABIYAN is a success. Srk can add more fuel to it if he opens his gutter like mouth at that time which he usually does during release time of films.So, overall a win win situation for TEPK and another flop on its way for Sir Srk the so called global superstar.
