  1. The comment section is closed on previous thread. …but what an explosive but at the same time endearing interview of Kangana there. I hope we could have a separate thread on that interview with Rajeev Masand.

On Hrithik…@” He runs away when he sees me ….. 🙂 🙂

That interview has some sordid data! Commendable for Kangana to have stood up like this against both Roshans. Hrithik was a married man and a father of two during all this and couldn’t handle his libido and be a bit more dignified….she is right when she says if you care so much for your image don’t do those things,,,,

There is another sex mongrel Ranbir who is using his position hunting fresh ‘cauliflowers’ (sounds cheesy but this is what censoring does). This is bollywood version of Baba Ram Rahim 🙂

    • Kudos to kangana. Roshans are a bunch of assholes.

      • We have to take her comments with a pinch if salt. She is the only one talking about it since quite some time and the Roshans have been pretty quiet. We don’t know what happened really.

But looking at the e-mails, Suman’s story etc.., it does seem that she is no saint as well and it does seem she was harassing Hrithik. The sad thing is that she seems to have fallen away and made enemies with practically everyone she has worked with and it is going to be difficult for her to last long.

        • I see no reason to be skeptical of Kangana. Her only fault is that she did not fall in line with the Roshans like Barbara Mori did. Hrithik is definitely one thadki idiot. Cant find a single film to do after mohenjodaro disaster and kaabil flop. Meanwhile his papa is busy fixing a new krrish nonsense film along with some less privileged actress whom his ladla can harass and take advantage of.

          Like

        • actually Kangana’s projects also off-late haven’t worked and she knows that being an actress – her shelf-life is short – so go all out and create publicity – but it takes tremendous guts still to openly declare a war against the likes of KJo / HR / Adi etc…….ha ha HR ki to vaat laga di 😉 in full public view – which should follow a gruelling legal battle…..

          Like

        • Hritik and his papa can fight legal battles over this for sure, but the damage has been done. If not the BO flops, these controversies (also the ugly divorce) have killed hritik’s reputation for good. Add the massive BO manipulations done on his films like Krish and Bangbang. He is one star with least credibility at present, and Kangana had her say in that.

        • Marcus, in bollywood, such controversies may or may not last for long – Sallu was beating up Aish when they were in relations and the news was all over then there was that Vivek Oberoi’s press conference against him – what happened? Aish and Vivek both gave flops after that and Sallu? 🙂 so yeah for few days, ppl have got good gossip masala and then one fine day, u will see ppl coming in support of HR and the show will go on 🙂

        • Bhai IdeaUnique – kuch bhi bolo, Kangana ne toh aap ki HR ko dho dala 🙂 And you cant compare Salman with Hithik. Firstly Aishwarya never went after Salman the way Kangana has gone after Roshans (Kudos to her!). Secondly Salman thrives on his bad-boy criminal image, it is his USP. Hritik is a kid’s star, and his image getting tarnished is a different thing. He has no more movies and will piggyback on his papa again for another krish. But I doubt if he is going to be accepted as a superhero now (not just for Kangana episode, but for all the other reasons I also mentioned).

This HR crap along with Ranbir’s track record on these issues gives all the more credit to people like Salman , Shahrukh and to an extent Aamir who were hero worshipped and deified on a much larger scale and level but remained grounded for most part.

Rahul you must listen to the interview 10-12 mins onwards and this one of the first time a woman is looking into the camera and openly challenging the status quo and asking for some sort of reparation. She is no saint but give her credit for coming on camera to say these things and the crap about HR hacking her computer, getting her passwords, fabricating emails on her behalf from her email id and what not………. this level of illegality / immorality or infringement whatever u may call is devious and HR should either confront this or just admit the wrongdoings and move on.

        • Salman? Really? Least Ranbir’s record is two way (both consent) – it takes 2 to tango, Salman’s fist is one way.

Zero tolerance for beating, harassing women. Salman’s record should get credit LOL, guys like you are so incredibly morally screwed up.

An eye for an eye turns the world blind. In your world only you and Salman can see.

We are not party to all what really transpired between the two but just a gentle reminder a person who has truly fallen in love will attest true love / separations painful esp when one realizes the episode was just a use and throw game and this whole façade was treated disposable….

I don’t wish to change any minds and people can continue believing what they feel is accurate. This one is closest to what may have transpired –

“….A few months later, Salman responded during an interview to MiD-Day: ‘Obviously, she will not recite poems if she is disturbed. Every person reacts in his own manner and I do not have an objection to that.’

But Salman has never admitted to physically attacking Aishwarya. He told MiD-Day in an interview on September 18, 2002:

‘No. I have never beaten her. Anyone can beat me up. Any fighter here on the sets can thrash me. That is why people are not scared of me. I do get emotional. Then I hurt myself. I have banged my head against the wall; I have hurt myself all over. I cannot hurt anyone else. I have only hit Subhash Ghai. Yet, I apologised to him the next day.’

‘There are times when you do get out of control. That person hit me with a spoon, almost broke a plate on my face, pissed on my shoes and grabbed me by the neck. I could not control myself. And see what happened. Next day, I had to go and apologise.’

Aishwarya claimed harassment but of course you’ll believe Salman naturally.

In any case how are Ranbir’s sexual experiences ‘worse’? He is not raping these women – they are more than happy to consent to his womanising habits.

Threats to SRK, Vivek, Aishwariya. Rude comments on Hrithik. Aishwarya’s parents filed a FIR. Black buck, hit and run. Probably others I’ve missed. All this and you believe in him like a demigod.

You’ll pull out comments where he says ‘i didn’t do it’! LOL! Obviously if you want to protect yourself you’re not going to say I did it! What is it that makes you want to defend everything he does? Only a blood relative would and even then it’s obvious why!

Salman through his own faults is this generations most unforgivable star and only Dutt comes before him as he’s been proven guilty. I don’t deny his popularity or box office success (even if it’s overrated – that’s a different discussion) but I’m not falling for the he is innocent act. Too many bad things seem to happen around him, it’s a leap of faith to believe innocence. The legal system for any famous person is polarized. They get caught up in unnecessary lies against them or they are favoured too. The average Joe like us would be in a jail cell right now.

Pretty average (the remake.. the original was hardly anything special to begin with.. I don’t like either version at all) and hardly the most refined film but it got the job done.

        • Raja Hindustani is pretty cringeworthy stuff. The soundtrack done wonders for the film. But that’s ruined by a singing ending that is embarrassing stuff. It’s easily the worst of those 5 big hits HAHK, DDLJ, DTPH & KKHH.

Still take QSQT and MPK over the lot.

Aamir did not disown that film or was he ashamed of it as far as I know. He was sincere as the OTT type. Dil, Rangeela, even QSQT all these films were before Aamir became evolved and calculating. Every filmstar has cringeworthy films which sometimes become great hits bafflingly. It tells more about the audience than the star himself or herself.

He was a slacker by nature and he admittedly made those films to prove to his father that he could do it. In many essence, JJWS is quite based on his own story. He soon lost interest in films and retired into his farmhouse. I think he may have at times been involved with the production side of AKP.

It was somewhat on the lines of Caravan. Aamir’s fondness for such toilet jokes percolated to Delhi Belly and even to 3 Idiots. Thank god, he came out of that.

  3. Baadshaho Decent – Shubh Mangal Saavdhan Low
    Friday 01 September 2017 12.30 IST

Baadshaho had a decent start of around 25-30%. The opening of the film is similar to Toilet Ek Prem Katha at multiplexes but better in single screens but that does not necessarily mean a better opening day than Toilet Ek Prem Katha as the collections of that film shot up in the evening at multiplexes and this being an action film that is not likley. Though with a big holiday for Eid tomorrow it could help the evening collections. The opening of the film is better than Shivaay though that film opened with another major release and was a pre Diwali release and the budget of the film is also less than that film. The best opening is in Rajasthan probably due to the setting of the film and next best was UP.

There is the holiday for Eid tomorrow which should help though Saturday is probably not the best day to have the holiday as its a good day for the box offie and you really want a holiday on either Friday or another working day. The fate of the film will depend on how the multiplexes of the big A centres like Jaipur, Nagpur, Surat etc fair.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a low opening of 10-15% which is expected for a film with no popular faces but it is slightly better than Bareilly Ki Barfi as occupancy is same but Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has a wider release so it could do a slightly higher number than Bareilly Ki Barfi but it wont be much. Considering the competition of Baadshaho this is not bad but its going to come down to that Monday having to be at the level of Friday to get a good run. The weekend is not an issue as far as growth is concerned because from this level it is sure to grow and on top there is Eid on Saturday but Monday is the acid test.

  5. Recently, it was confirmed that the beautiful pair of Ajay Devgn and Kajol will be doing a movie together, after almost a gap of 7 years. And today, we are hearing these reports that one more beautiful real life pair might team up once again exactly after a gap of 7 years, on big screen. And it’s none other than Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Reportedly, both of them will feature in a film, produced by Shailesh R Singh which will see them playing the role of IPS officers, who are also married to each other.

Recently, in an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, producer Shailesh R Singh spoke about the possibility of the same. He said, “Yes, I have approached Abhishek and he has shown interest in the film. We are discussing with Aishwarya’s team and will be giving her a narration soon. She has conveyed to us that she’s interested in meeting us and hearing the story. I am planning to give Aishwarya a narration soon. I would definitely love to make a film with Abhishek. I had wanted to work with Abhishek for a long time but we got a good story now. Abhishek and I are both excited about the story. He is a superb human being and a great actor. The subject is strong and befitting his persona. I would love to work with Aishwarya in this film too as she suits the role. We cast actors in films keeping in perspective whether the roles suit them or not. I like to cast the actor according to the character.”

An industry insider too has quoted to Pinkvilla. He said, “The film is based against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh politics, based on a true story and about two IPS officers, who are husband and wife. It’s their love story and journey. Abhishek has liked the story and given his nod to the film though he is yet to sign the contract. Aishwarya Rai has been approached for the female lead and will be hearing a story narration soon. She has expressed interest in the story but as Aishwarya takes time on her scripts the film is on hold. The producers have been waiting to give her a story narration for almost two months. Shailesh’s first choice is Aishwarya as he thinks she will be wonderful in the film. Both the roles have equal weight and are performance-oriented.”

The film has reportedly made Rs 65 crore in the last seven days. Interestingly, Vivegam is the first Tamil film to enter the 100-crore club post the implementation of Goods and Service Tax by the Central Government. The film began its box office journey with more than 800 screens across the state.

Footfalls in theatres have reduced to an extent due to weekdays, but, it’s expected to go up again during the weekends. And, it looks like the Tamil audience has accepted the film, despite its mixed reviews. The film is directed by Siva with whom Ajith had earlier teamed up for Vivegam and Veeram. The star cast includes Ajith, Kajal Aggarwal, Akshara Haasan and Vivek Oberoi. Music for the film is by Anirudh. The film had already surpassed the opening collections of the Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali and the magnum opus Baahubali 2. The film is expected to rake up around Rs 80 crore in the state.

#Deepika PadukoneDeepika Padukone not paid more

Sources in the know are embarrassed and appalled by reports in a section of the press claiming that Deepika Padukone was paid more than her two leading men in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati.

“First of all, the information is false. One doesn’t know who could have leaked out this misleading information because there is no truth to it. Secondly which professional discusses remuneration in public and that too while knocking down the pay scale of her colleagues?” scoffs the source, adding that Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor would be most happy to accept any remuneration from Sanjay Bhansali even less than what Deepika gets.

“But it’s just not true. One of the arguments put forward is that she deserves to get more than her male co-stars as she plays the titular role in Padmavati. By that logic in Ghajini, Pradeep Rawat who plays the title role should’ve been paid more than Aamir Khan,” reasons the source.

One doesn’t know why Deepika’s marketing team is leaking out such absurd stories. But she should immediately put a lid on them.

Now the film will now fall short of Rowdy Rathore and Raees. It seems that Akshay will have to wait a bit longer to deliver his grosser after RR. Also, the record of Raees seems to be safe until the release of Golmaal 4 or Tiger Zinda Hai.

    • Baadshaho 1st Day Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi starrer has a decent opening day. According to the producer figures, Baadshaho 1st day collection is around 12.03 cr.

The film performed very well at the single screens and mass centres. It fared best in UP and Rajasthan while it was average in multiplexes. Overall the numbers are decent but the initial should have been higher considering that it is an action film. The opening day is lower than Toilet Ek Prem Katha which had less appeal.

Other release Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has collected 2.71 crores on day 1 which is a low number against a fair number of screens. The film has collected better than Bareilly Ki Barfi but it also had higher screen count (1400). Shubh Mangal Saavdhan will show good growth over the weekend but eventually, it will be the hold on Monday and 2nd Friday which will decide its fate.

She was also not her usual confident one on this interview, lot of stories flying here and there. I was mostly with Kangana on this issue and now seeing and understanding the whole case carefully, I think she has some issue and linking the emails with Hrithik while Hrithik says it wasn’t him. Everything Hrithik seems to say to Kangana is only via emails and never on face. She has never even kissed or even spent time with Hrithik and everything is only via emails. The only time they spoke face to face at Karan’s party and Hrithik right away said he’s not sending her any emails and it is not him. Kangana says she was so shocked how he is denying him on the face and its not the same behavior as in emails. Also, Hrithik is not so dumb to open a case in cyber crime or even otherwise while he was sending that emails himself to trap himself.

Anyways, unfortunate for Hrithik to go through this even though I agree that Hrithik has his share of affairs and all and he’s no saint but I think he’s clean on this one. My 2 cents!

    • Remember that pic posted with her and Hrithik in a supposedly romantic pose? That’s all she had as proof of their relationship. It was later revealed that Suzanne was right there. If anyone wanted to prove that there was something going on, then surely there must be some kind of proof. But all seems to suggest that Kangana was merely harassing Hrithik. There has not been one single proof of a relationship produced by her.

IT is easy to come to the media and claim she has been a victim. She is doing all the talking alone. But it does seem there is absolutely no proof to her claims. On the other hands, Hrithik has not been talking to the media about it since then but has produced some kind of proof that he was being harassed. Suman also spoke of Kangan’s obssession for Hrithik while he was in a relationship with her. She was even seen alone performing a pooja for Bang Bang’s success!

      • The bone of contention is according to Hrithik there was no relationship. There may have been sex but Hrithik is not owning it. Kangana believes there was a relationship and you could gauge that she was enamored and wanted to marry.

Now If that is the case why would you get ruffled by silly ex (why she was removed from Aashiqui 3) comment when there was no direct name. To shut her up you send legal notice . Obviously there was some degree of relationship and you don’t want your manicured image to have any blemish.

Take a case of Aamir, there were rumors of relationship with Dangal costar; he went ahead and released pictures of his family with fatima sana shaikh. That is how you kill rumor.

“On the other hands, Hrithik has not been talking to the media about it since then but has produced some kind of proof that he was being harassed. ”

She answered it ver clearly without being an IT person. The leaked emails (1439) are with Hrithik which were sent to Imposter. How did Hrithik got hold of Imposter account? If it was indeed Hrithik account then why didn’t he called or filed a report with police?

        • Kagana has made these “allegations” with almost all the evidences pointing towards Roshans being the culprits and now onus is on them to debunk her claims as keeping mum in this very case would strengthen Kangana’s claims. If Salman despite all the criminal cases and his volatile & violent behaviour can be the “masses favourite and remain their idol”, I don’t reckon Kangana has indulged in anything remotely as grave as Salman & Sanjay Dutt have in their career & yet retain the label of being “pure heart” bullshit in their defence!!

Kangana is not a saint either but she is not pretending to be one with making all her frailties and vulnerabilities public without bothering for her public image. She might have committed a harakiri by coming out with all these things in open at the prime of her career, yet I’d give it to Kangana for not allowing her career come in the way of her decision which she deemed right come what may!! She has some personality issues like believing herself to be “the best” out there in her profession and taking it far too seriously by speaking in condescending tone towards most of her directors and co-stars which implies as if she is the most knowledgeable person out there in entire film industry, yet she is not hollow like most of the stars who are neither talented nor promising like her which makes her nepotism stance all the more plausible and relatable to the outsiders. I wish she, from this point onwards, spends all her energies in pushing the envelope in her field than frittering away her talent and skill.

  20. Eid Holiday Gives The Box Office A Good Boost
    Saturday 02 September 2017 13.00 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

The Eid holiday has given the box office a good lift with both Baadshaho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan recording good collections. It does not mean much as its a national holiday and the real tests are to come but at least the films have shown good growth. Baadshaho is looking at collections of 13.50 crore nett as per early estimates which is 35% growth and it was needed. Anything under 30% and this film would have been in trouble considering its a big holiday. The film has shown good growth all over be it multiplexes and single screens but it is the holiday affect. The collections could even go higher in the morning as collections from smaller centres of Gujarat and Maharashtra come in. These could have more growth due to Eid. The two day total of the film will be around 23.50 crore nett.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has shown huge growth as the film will more than double up its collections to around 5.50 crore nett. The growth is phenomenal but some of that growth is because of the holiday factor. The film has comfortably scored over Bareilly Ki Barfi over the first two days and is already close to 2 crore nett ahead in just two days. The two day figures will be around 8 crore nett but still its about the weekdays as even if the weekend comes out at 13 crore nett ans that is better than Bareilly Ki Barfi and even Hindi Medium but its what happens after the weekend which make or break these type of films.

  28. National Award winner Ujjwal Chatterjee, who is helming a trilingual film produced by Priyanka Chopra’s company on the relationship between Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and his English teacher Annapurna Turkhud, has submitted a revised version of the script to Visva Bharati University for consideration.
“I have submitted the revised script,” Chatterjee told IANS.
According to Visva Bharati Acting Vice Chancellor Swapan Datta, the revised version will be sent for scrutiny to poet and noted Tagore scholar Sankha Ghosh.
“They (filmmakers) have submitted revised version, it will be circulated to our members and will be finally put up to Sankha Ghosh,” Datta informed.
Visva Bharati had earlier recommended the removal of certain “intimate scenes.”
Chatterjee had agreed to chop off one scene.
Annapurna Turkhud, also known as Anna or Annabai, was the daughter of Atmaram Pandurang Turkhud, a Mumbai-based (then Bombay) doctor. Tagore had stayed with the family prior to his first voyage to Britain in 1878 and took lessons in spoken English from Anna.
He gave her the nickname Nalini, which Anna used later on as a pseudonym for her writing. She inspired some of Tagore’s early poetic expressions. Tagore never forgot about Anna and used to reminisce about her in his old age.
The film will portray the platonic relationship between the two.
Chatterjee had explained in one scene of the Marathi-Bengali-English film, Nalini kisses her fiance as Tagore looks on while in another Nalini pecks Tagore on the cheek.
“Actually we have to retain the scene where Nalini kisses her fiance because its documented. The other scene will be removed,” Chatterjee had said.

So, she did nothing about it while he was sending hundreds of e-mail to himself all the while, with content pointing towards harassment from her. Very hard to believe. All she did was complain to Papa Roshan (who then did nothing about it).

Much later on, after Hrithik had already sent hundreds of mails to himself, at times hundred of them on a daily basis (from what the police said), Kangana then decides to change her account number.

Who would believe such a story? Even a 15 years old kid wouldn’t allow anyone to so that. Yet she wants us to believe that.

Despite China, Baahubali 2 to emerge winner over Dangal at the box office
    Wednesday, May 24, 2017
Much is being made about Aamir Khan’s Dangal’s collections in China putting it in the same class as Prabhas’ Baahubali The Conclusion. To some extent it is justified as Dangal is said to end up receiving $150 million from China. However it is worth noting that unlike Baahubali, the Aamir Khan starrer is not going to be top grosser of any country and nearly half of Dangal’s worldwide gross is going to actually come from China where Dangal’s China box office givings are reportedly higher than its actual all India figures; improbable to say the least. This brings the 2nd issue in light, which is the components and relevance of worldwide gross. Baahubali 2 hasn’t released in China yet but they have both released in India and there the gap between Baahubali 2 and Dangal is nearly 3:1. Almost 3 times as many people have seen Baahubali as have seen Dangal. The grosses reported from China include different fees which are not counted in India or other parts of the world so the grosses are not comparable. More importantly, the average ticket price in China is much higher than the average ticket prices in India, and also the box office share Chinese allow Aamir Khan or other producers to receive off the reported grosses are also paltry. So regardless of gross amounts from China, neither the crowdsizes nor the box office returns are going to compensate for Dangal being behind Baahubali’s margins across India.

In rest of the world where there is some visibility and where both Baahubali 2 and Dangal both have released now, it’s been a nearly total domination by Baahubali over Dangal. As mentioned, across India, north to south, Baahubali is already ahead of Dangal by nearly triple the margin and may finish ahead by a thousand crores or so. Baahubali 2 is also ahead in USA (all versions) over Dangal’s all versions, Baahubali 2 is ahead in Australia, it’s ahead in New Zealand, even in UAE.

In Pakistan and China Dangal is ahead. Baahubali 2 hasn’t yet released in China. Infact it hasn’t released yet in several world markets.

Pakistan’s collections hardly matter but China has thrown a big number for Dangal. Nonetheless, India has thrown a bigger number for Baahubali. Rest of the world, Baahubali leads. And there are talks of dubbing and marketing Baahubali in proper English now for release in the regular English theaters in USA, UK, and Western Europe for release for the mainstream western audiences as well. If that happens, the 2000 crores that Baahubali is chasing right now will look like a small figure in few months.

So when it’s all said and done and both films have played out their runs, it’s pretty certain that Baahubali 2 will be eventual winner over Dangal in most of the world, no matter how it does in China.

Beyond that, it is worth keeping in mind India is the best place to compare 2 Indian films. And Baahubali 2’s all India national record is such that, it is bound to finish at a box office figure that will stand for years with no hope of Dangal or any Bollywood film touching it in the near future.

    Even worse:

Aamir Khan production Dangal, starring the story of Hindu Phogat family of girl wrestlers of Haryana, is doing very well in china. Infact according to unconfirmed reports the movie may even do nearly USD170 million there. This has suddenly come out of nowhere in light of blockbuster release of Baahubali 2 (which hasn’t released in China and a lot of other places yet) but if the Dangal collections there are true, then that means for Aamir Khan his movie has done better in China than in India itself where Dangal’s all India collections will be nearly tripled by Baahubali 2 in terms of gross ticket sales across the country.

Good news for Khan who complained about intolerance in India after Narendra Modi rose to power, may finally have found a country to move to: China. Bad news is he will have to realize China is appreciating the Indian Haryanvi hindu female upliftment characterization of Dangal based on the real life Phogat family sisters, and projecting it to their own world.

Because when it comes to intolerance, and specifically intolerance against Islam, China has actually made its muslim imaams dance on the streets forcing them to utter ‘our income comes from the Chinese Communist Party not allah’. (see link). China government has also in 2017 banned the name ‘Mohammed’ recently outright.

Given so much ‘intolerance’, despite the film screening there, Aamir Khan, like the rest of the Bollywood intolerance brigade, will likely be applying to renew his Indian passport still.

What’s more it can be argued Aamir Khan’s and most of the other Khans’ success in Bollywood has been mostly when linked to hindu cultural ethos (be it a 3 idiots which is take on hindu middle class and education system or Dangal now on the story of Phogats). It is the attraction to that culture that is what is drawing the audience not Aamir Khan. Because it will be seen how Aamir Khan’s similar attempt in the muslim genre in the upcoming Secret Superstar will fare. Odds are it won’t do anywhere near Dangal.

Another one. God knows how I nissed these extraordinary bullshit articles for so long:

Baahubali supremacy proves Hindi cinema hero need not look punjabi-muslim in appearance
    Thursday, May 18, 2017
    Commentary
Among many things, the thumping box office victory of Baahubali in 2017 exposed Bollywood’s ethnic and cultural biases for what they are.

In the just released Sarkar 3, the character of Maharashtrian political-mobster and upcoming leading man is actually played by an unknown Punjabi actor named Amit Sadh and his predecessor, by the half-punjabi actor Amitabh Bachchan.

In next week’s Half-Girlfriend, the Bihari leading character is played by another punjabi actor, Arjun Kapoor, who is neither very popular nor great actor. The other film releasing, ‘Hindi Medium’, has an Irfan Khan and actress who’s not even Indian, a Pakistani named Saba Qamar.

On surface this would be fine. Except that much of the big budget, high profile leading men roles and distribution support in Bollywood has been given to Khan or Punjabi actors in the name of box office. Whereas other mainstream hindu talented leading men rarely get the same opportunities, regardless of whether they are north indians or south indians.

This sham is dubbed as ‘secularism’ of bollywood when it’s just ethnic bias/racism in favor of punjabis and muslims, usually orchestrated by a network of punjabis and muslims themselves, who are much overrepresented in Bollywood. In previous eras of Bollywood, this was let go as Punjabis (like Vinod Khanna or Dharmendra) used to be legitimate hindu-leaning Punjabis and even the muslims would change their names (ex. Yusuf Khan to Dilip Kumar, Abbas Khan to Sanjay) and generally appeal to middle India hindu characters. Which is barring some exceptions, not the case anymore. Over last two decades, case in point the occasional Sunny Deol or Vivek Oberoi, the industry tries to shun the ‘Hindu’ Punjabis and the ones promoted are Punjabis-soft-on-Pakistan instead, and of course the Khans.

This change in tilt towards muslim and islamicized punjabi culture of bollywood is what Baahubali has exposed, because without a single punjabi hero or khan actor or even a single rabba or maulah reference, a movie starring dark skinned Indian heroes (Prabhas, Rana) speaking telugu is more relateable, ‘starry’ and appealing to the Hindi audiences, and has ended up ruling in its *dubbed* form in northern India hindi circuits along with rest of India over every other bollywood movie ever made featuring a khan or a khanna or kapoor actor.

The all India collections of Baahubali will double the collections of PK, Sultan, Dangal and more than quintuple the likes of Raees, Kapoor & Sons and others that bollywood advertises as its ‘popular’ hits. What Baahubali has done to Bollywood is tantamount to what Narendra Modi did to the Congress in 2014. They said he wasn’t popular enough to be elected beyond Gujarat. Instead Modi dominated outside Gujarat, captured Delhi, and smashed all preconceived notions about winnability. That is what fighting with conviction does.

So it’s time to take the next step long overdue. The refrain ‘Ye hero jaisa dikhta nahi hai’ is pretty much useless because Bollywood and its media want you to think ‘hero jaisa’ means ‘Punjabi-muslim jaisa’. That premise has been shattered now. Indian superstars don’t need to look like Shahrukh Khan or Hrithik Roshan or even Amitabh Bachchan of his prime. Indian heroes need to look like how Indians look, not how Arabs look. Big budget bollywood cinema needs to be opened up to leading men from all hindustani backgrounds (from north and south India) and that ought get backed by big funding and marketing efforts also, ie not just released on limited screens For it’s been proven that you don’t need a Khan or a Kapoor or Malhotra as the hero face to create the actual box office record breaker for Hindi and the greater Indian audiences.

Post 2017 Bollywood needs to let merit and actual content demand dictate who India wants, or gradually it will get reduced to regional industry status contained to the Jalandhar and Aligarh markets.

What a great astrologer he must be! And then Prabhas comes to destroy the khandom singlehandedly and gets the country rid off them once and for all! Even Rajamouli will be astounded by this theory! Shubh Mangal Saavdhan collections remain on the lower side over the weekend despite a good trend over the weekend. The film has comfortably outscored other content films like Bareilly Ki Barfi and Hindi Medium but still a 14 crore nett weekend is a low weekend. It has also managed to beat the weekend figures of bigger films like Mom, Commndo 2 and Mom. There was competition from Baadshaho but that was probably compensated by the big holiday on Saturday. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan has even managed to grow on Sunday a little after the big holiday but everything is depending on the weekdays and how they hold up. The weekend figures of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan are as follows

    Friday – 2,64,00,000

    Saturday – 5,50,00,000 apprx

    Sunday – 6,00,00,000 apprx

    TOTAL – 13,14,00,000 apprx

The best collections have come in Delhi NCR pretty much like Bareilly Ki Barfi (Hindi Medium was tax free in Maharashtra which meant Mumbai also recorded good figures). In many premium multiplexes in and around Delhi the film has higher weekend collections than Baadshaho. The target for the film is probably to beat Bareilly Ki Barfi which it should despite the competition as has a little more appeal than that film and it would also be a decent result

The latter still has a shot (depending on how much of a script there is here), Race 3 will be the Sultan kind of graph in the best case scenario. But it’s also (getting back to a discussion Jay and I had the other day) proving the point about Bachchan. He wouldn’t be in these two films if adding him didn’t mean something.

        Like

        • I am not sure if having Bachchan in the film adds anything significantly to the BO opening or total. But the marketing around the films will revolve around Aamir/Bachchan face-off or Salman/Bachchan face-off, which adds prestige to the films as Bachchan is still so relevant.

Thugs, I think, will do much more than Race 3 at BO. It can cross the 400 cr nett milestone which Dangal failed to do by 12-13 cr. But I doubt if it will go over 500 cr like Baahubali 2, unless the film turns out to be v good. TZH and Race 3, if they do 300 cr, then Salman and his distributors should be happy.

Personally, I am not that excited by TOH, mainly due to the director here. I have v limited faith in his sensibilities and capabilities. I am rather looking forward to how SS shapes up as a film and what it does at BO. As AKP production and Aamir in a supporting role, this is much more representative of what the long term future holds for Aamir. Salute is another film I find interesting, but that one is most likely to release in 2020, which is quite far away.

  44. Baadshaho And Shubh Mangal Saavdhan Monday Estimates
    Tuesday 05 September 2017 00.30 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Baadshaho has had a fair hold on Monday with the film looking at a 50% drop and collections of 5 crore nett apprx as per early estimates. It will be very important that final collections in the morning do not show a drop more than 50% as its limited competition over the next couple of weeks so the film has to take advantage but if the drop is over 50% then it will be unlikely to benefit. If the film holds strong in Mumbai / Gujarat than expected at present and the drop goes under 50% then the film could actually turn out to be a surprise at the box office. Its still a decent Monday but a 45% drop can turn it into a good Monday. Its a small margin but can make a big difference to the final outcome. The four day business of the film will be around 41.50 crore nett.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is a success as collections will be in the 2-2.25 crore nett as per early estimates which is a strong hold. Ideally it should have been same as Friday or even higher but this will do and the film is at worst an AVERAGE fair with chances to go higher. The film will be a bigger success than Bareilly Ki Barfi but that was sorted of expected as reports were better but still its a question of how far above the 30 crore nett mark it can go. It has advantage of limited competition unless some film or films surprise and with this Monday hold it is set for a good run for the next few weeks. A solo release for the film may have even given the film a chance to emerge an outright HIT. This is still possible but it has a long way to go. The four day business of the will be around 16.25 crore nett

  45. Anyone planning to catch the big matches at Flushing this week? Both Nadal and Federer have made to the quarters with straight set wins in R4. They face decent opposition in the quarters, both Rublev and Del Potro have been playing well and causing upsets in the tournaments. If Fed-Nadal manages to get to the semis, all eyes will be on the much hyped possible encounter. The other lot in the draw is comparatively weaker.

I hope Federer pulls through this one and gets his 20th slam. With age not on his side, constant fear of injuries, and competition to get a lot tougher next year when other top players come back from injuries – i think this is Federer’s golden chance to make it count once more.

Today’s quarters will be interesting and give us some hints about what to expect in the possible Nadal-Fed semis. Nadal should breeze past Rublev IMO. But Del Potro can give a fight to Federer. While Fed has a good chance to rest the ghost of 2009 US final with a win here. But if he gets stretched by del Potro, Nadal’s chances will be more in the semis.

  46. Baadshaho had a decent Monday with collections of 5.25 crore nett which takes its five day total to a little under 42 crore nett. It has a pretty good hold on Monday but there is a holiday after affect as some places have remained very steady on Monday while others have dropped over 50-55%. The film has only dropped in the 20-30% range in UP, Bihar and Nizam which is probably due to the after affect of Eid. These areas are likely to drop faster over the weekdays as collections are so high on Monday. Still overall its a decent Monday and remains to be seen where the film can go from here. The film is best in Bihar and could become the top film there after Bahubali – The Conclusion if it continues there with normal trending over the next two weeks or so.
    Monday – 5,25,00,000 apprx

    Total – 41,85,00,000 apprx

The first week will depend on how the film holds over the next two days and when do collections in places which are hugely outperforming come back to normal. It is probably looking at a 54-55 crore nett first week but the next couple of days will decide that.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan held up very well on Monday as it grossed a little under 2.50 crore nett. The drop is under 10% from Friday which is strong trending.

All these records months after official release – a parallel release would surely be more. It’s comfortably into the top 30 WW earners of 2016 and a parallel release it would be much higher.

Almost likely it will be in the top 400 grossers of all time.

  48. Bollywood megastar Salman Khan will play a role with “completely grey” shades, Ramesh Taurani, the producer of the soon to be announced ‘Race 3’, has confirmed.

“Yes, Salman’s character is completely grey in Race 3 and it’s an extremely slick, stylish and exciting one – something he has not done before. The Race franchise always has grey characters in them – we are just continuing with that. Like Saif in Race or Race 2” Ramesh Taurani was quoted as saying.

The extremely popular ‘Race’ franchise has fared well at the box office, but none of the films in the series has featured a major box office star in the lead. While the first film featured the likes of Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Anil Kapoor, the second film had John Abraham who replaced Akshaye.

Taurani also confirmed that the film will feature Jacqueline Fernandes as the female lead.

The director duo of Abbas Mustan will be replaced by Remo D’Souza, who has previously directed the successful ‘ABCD’ franchise.

Saif Ali Khan has also said that he hasn’t been approached for the third film.

“Ramesh ji (Taurani) told me about this last year that he wants to make Race 3 but as a new movie, with a new cast. We spoke about it and I love Ramesh ji. Who better than Salman Khan for this? I wish both of them luck. But I haven’t been approached.” Saif was quoted as saying.

The film is expected to go on floors next month, after Salman wraps up the final schedule of ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ which is the last release of 2017.

There are also reports that ‘Race 3’ is targeting Eid 2018, which should be considered only a rumour, until an official announcement is made.

Industry superstars playing negative roles has worked big-time at the ticket window. When Hrithik Roshan replaced John Abraham in ‘Dhoom 2’, the film went on to become the biggest grosser of all time. The result was the same when Aamir Khan replaced Hrithik in ‘Dhoom 3’. All roles were negative, but featured the villains in large-than-life ‘hero’ characters.

With the inclusion of the industry’s biggest crowd-puller, the third film in the ‘Race’ franchise is set to become by far its biggest – both in terms of investment as well as box office returns.

  49. Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan Is Not Glossy, Says Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub

Press Trust of India | Updated: Sep 05, 2017 20:11 IST

Mumbai: He will be seen in the forthcoming Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khan film Thugs of Hindostan and actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub says though the film is commercial, it is not “glossy”. The period action-adventure film is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and also features Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. “Thugs of Hindostan is a classic story well said. It is a grand period film. I have tried something completely different in it. I am having absolute fun shooting it. Thugs is not a conventional glossy film, though it is very commercial,” Zeeshan tells PTI.

“It has a story to tell, it has complexes and plot points like a good classic and still they are trying new things which makes the project interesting,” he adds.

With Raees, Tubelight and now Thugs of Hindostan, the actor has worked with all the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir – respectively and says they all have distinct style.

“Aamir tends to analyse a scene completely in depth. He is a perfectionist in that sense. He will be on it till it isn’t right. On the other hand, there is Salman Khan, who is opposite. He doesn’t read a scene more than twice. He will say the lines once and then make them his own. He will go for the shoot and he keeps it very raw. So there are chances it might not work or magic might happen too. He is that good,” he said.

On Shah Rukh, Zeeshan says, he is a “typical theatre actor doing films.”

“He will rehearse a scene may be 10 times, will ask you what you’re doing, bring in changes accordingly. Then suddenly when you are doing it, he will be the first person to change it and you are allowed to change too,” he said.

Currently, he is awaiting the release of his latest film Sameer, a political drama in which a man gets wrongly framed in a bomb blast case.

Zeeshan says no one in the industry wanted to talk about the political scenario of the country. So, when director Dakxin Chhara narrated him the film he immediately agreed to be a part of it. “I was quite upset and disturbed by the political scenario in our country, two-and-a-half years back. I was thinking someone should talk about it but no one in the film industry wants to get involved in this, specially because during that time fringe elements were targeting individuals,” he said.

“I thought if someone has to do, I should do it. Around the same time he (Dakxin) came to me and narrated the story. It just clicked and within two minutes I said yes,” the actor adds.

The film is scheduled to release on September 8.

But it nonetheless will need a strong script and screenplay to make a good film. I will take this guy’s vouching for the script with a pinch of salt (as he is part of the team). The grandness is expected though, given the budget and the scale of the film.

The question on the director’s sensibilities and execution remains.

  50. Prasoon Joshi introduces new rules at CBFC and filmmakers are not very happy

CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi has sent a brief to his officials asking them to refrain from sharing any informal information to filmmakers. Earlier, informal communication used to help filmmakers negotiate before they received the certificate.(PTI)

When the former chief of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Pahlaj Nihalani was sacked and lyricist Prasoon Joshi was brought in to replace him last month, most filmmakers cherished the ‘progressive’ move. However, reports suggest that producers may face troubles even with the new CBFC chief. Joshi has reportedly sent a brief to his officials asking them to refrain from sharing any informal information to filmmakers.

A DNA report claimed on Tuesday that Joshi has introduced new rules for the board, according to which, no information about suggested cuts will be shared with the filmmakers and that the certificate will be the only communication with them.

Earlier, informal communication used to help filmmakers negotiate before they received the certificate.

“Earlier, we were at least told about the problematic scenes, if any, so we could take care of them. Now, we will be in the dark till the certificate is issued. This way, precious time will be lost. Sometimes we have just two-three days between CBFC viewing a film and its release. This new policy may cause delays,” DNA quoted a film producer as saying.

The report further said the decision was taken after there was some confusion over the cuts in the recently-released Hollywood horror film, IT. The CBFC initially ordered 12 cuts, then restored all of them, then asked for three cuts again, and finally settled for just one cut, it added.

Talking about censorship, CBFC’s role and his new job, Prasoon earlier said in an interview, “Any legitimate industry works within certain frameworks and so does a creative industry like films. Let’s not discredit the CBFC. The body and its officials work hard to fulfill their part of the work. The scope to do better is there in all spheres of all industries. As far as I can see, my role is not to micromanage but that of guiding sensibilities — to be more of a sensor according to changing times as well as not lose moorings in the velocity of change. Striking a fine balance is always a challenge worth attempting.”

‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ continued its strong run, showing growth at the box office on Tuesday. The film is a winner already, but if it holds well in Week 2, it could challenge the lifetime business of Ayushmann Khurrana’s highest grosser ‘Vicky Donor’ which was one of the most acclaimed movies of 2012.

The Tuesday collections are higher than Friday, inspite of multiplex tickets selling for lower prices.

The first week will now be around the 24-25 crore mark. It should cross the 30 crore by the end of its second weekend – beating films like ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.

Small films have fared quite well in the last few months, with films like ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and now ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ performing very well at the box office. It’ll be interesting to see if films like ‘Lucknow Central’ and ‘Simran’ continue the trend.

    Growth / Drop
    Day 1 (Friday) 2.71 crore –

Del Potro is serving really well and has a better chance against Nadal in semis, than Federer would have IMO. Federer has been out of sorts since the beginning of this tournament, perhaps too worried about his back rather than keeping the focus on his tennis.

At 36, it remains to be seen how long he carries on. I thought this was a good chance to pick up his 20th slam, as next year will be tough. But never say never. As this surprising year has shown, he can still win a major as long as he is keeps playing.

Even had he got to the semis, I think Nadal would have been v tough to beat. Nadal will now have to work hard for this one, but then he is a workhorse.

During his peak (between 2004-09), Federer won the US title 5 times in a row. But it has been surprising (and sad) that he has not been able to lift it again in as many as 8 attempts (including this one), inspite of regularly making it to the quarters, semis and finals.

        • I think we will see him play for another 1 or 2 years (max) from here. May pick up a stray major in the process. It not about injuries of others, its more about himself being all fit and at his 100%, which was not the case here.

I am sure he will at least try to defend the his current 2 slam titles next year (unless he is injured). Any major injury at this point may mean earlier retirement than hanging around for another couple of years.

Sanjay Dutt has openly spoken about his drug addiction and how he managed to come out of it. He has also been a heavy drinker but earlier this year; it was revealed that he has stopped consuming alcohol as well. However, smoking is something that Sanjay Dutt has not been able to free himself from.

Recently, Sanjay Dutt shared an interesting anecdote with regards to his smoking habit. He said his father, late actor-politician Sunil Dutt, had beaten him up. The strict father had caught Sanjay smoking in the bathroom. He took Sanjay Dutt inside a room and thrashed him. Remembering this incident, the actor admitted that he needs to stop smoking and that he’ll attempt to kick the butt soon.

Sanjay Dutt then opened up that his father made sure that his sisters Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt were treated equally at home and it’s a quality that he has also imbibed. The actor was in prison from May 2013 to February 2016 and said that if he learnt that a fellow prisoner was a rapist, he would not talk to him. He justified that women are symbols of Goddess Durga and Laxmi. We pray to them and still it’s bewildering for him that how anyone can violate them.

It’s this point of view of Sanjay Dutt to perhaps drive him to sign his comeback film Bhoomi, which releases on September 22. It deals with a father’s struggle after his daughter is exploited by a ruthless criminal. Sanjay admitted that he was more than happy to be a part of this film that gives a nice message.

Aditi Rao Hydari plays Sanjay Dutt’s daughter in Bhoomi. In real life, he is a father to Trishala and also twins, Iqra and Shahraan. He says that he isn’t strict disciplinarian but he has one complaint. He fails to understand why his children wish to have stayovers with their friends at their houses. He reasons that the children have the duration of the entire day to bond with their friends. Then why do they want to spend nights together and this is something he detests to the core.

    • Basically only 4 BO hits from Bollywood this year – out of which two are Akshay films and one is a small film, Hindi Medium.

Not too many releases left for this year either – Golmaal, SS, Padmavati and TZH from the top of my head. And as I said, TZH may turn around the year for Bollywood with a solid 300+ cr total. Salman to play the savior?

      • There is also Judwa 2 and Bhoomi which may turn out to be hits or semi hits depending upon how these films are directed.

        • Bhoomi I am not sure, but Judwa 2 can become a hit. However, I doubt it will go much beyond 100-150 cr. We may get a few 150+ cr movies at best in Judwa2, Padmavati and Golmaal Again. Maybe a 100 cr with SS. But TZH should be the biggie that the industry is waiting for.

        • bhoomi will be a DISASTER for sure – there is no curiosity abt films and in any case films surrounding rape do not succeed at the BO – all the flops of recent times on the same subject (Kaabil, Mom……) prove it

  63. Will respond to some of the tennis-related comments:

1)Pity Federer couldn’t pull it off but other than the second set never looked convincing. Of course he’s had back problems throughout this tournament anyway.

2)Think (and assuming he’s healthy) he should see how he does in the Australian open. Similar surface. Even if he doesn’t win it and goes deep he could attempt one more Wimbledon and really retire at that point (win or lose).

3)In ’09 when Del Potro won the US Open he beat Nadal in the semis and Federer in the final. Think this is the only time anyone has beaten both. Then the poor guy had wrist injuries over the years. 4 surgeries apparently. That’s tough.

4)I still think Nadal should win the encounter. But Del Potro is clearly getting mentally stronger with each such win (the match against Thiem is being called the greatest of the year.. McEnroe is one of those who’s said this.. even allowing for some exaggeration I’m really sorry I missed out on it).

    • Del Potro without injuries would have won more slams. He’ll give Nadal a stiff test.

Not fussed on Federer – pretty stupid of me to advice him on when to retire LOL.

      • Federer played poorly , literally threw it away in the 3rd set tiebreaker .. 4 set points , 2 on his own serve and way too many errors . I doubt Nadal will make that many mistakes expecting him to win in 4 sets wouldn’t be surprised if he win in straight sets . I actually think Kevin Anderson the guy with a big serve and solid ground game who beat Querrey in the QF’s can give Nadal a tough fight in the finals .

I doubt if retirement is on his mind. In any case I dont see him retiring before end of 2018 ATP tour season. He will probably skip the clay court swings again next year and play the rest of the slams before considering when to retire (provided he stays healthy).

      • Interesting, how he talks about feeling throughout the tournament that the right guy could beat him. Here too one finds a clue to his greatness. To be truly that extraordinary you also need a sense of perspective. Lots of people can win when their at their peaks but when they’re somewhat off-peak or more than this they have to adjust their game in various ways. It requires a certain mental discipline but also humility. And this is where a lot of careers go from being ‘great’ in the age to ‘among greatest ever’. No matter how extraordinary your stats at your peak you need to be really good off-peak to really put up those mountains (of numbers). Take Sachin, at one point he was having trouble getting to his 35th test century. The last few had not come that easily. He’d dealt with some injuries. I never thought he’d get to 50. 40 seemed a stretch too. The rest is history. He got at least 16 centuries (of his 51) if not more when he was clearly off-peak or slightly worse than this.

England looking good to take on Aussies in the ashes battle. They have a solid middle order with likes of all rounders like Ali, Stokes, Bairstow. Aussies meanwhile have a fragile middle order with no all rounders. English problem is at the top. No good batsmen other than Cook, Root.

        • He’s self aware. Unfortunately Bollywood stars fans aren’t. With experience he knows his limits. He maybe hoped the injury would go away or his big competition were being knocked out. The margins against a Del Potro on form are very thin.

At his age and achievements it was worth a risk.

Taare Zameen Par actor Darsheel Safary has been roped in as the face of &pictures’s The Harry Potter Film Series festival.

The magical adventure of the Harry Potter movies, based on author J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels, will be showcased as part of “The Harry Potter Film Series” in Hindi every Sunday on &pictures channel.

Darsheel, a fan of Harry Potter, said in a statement, “Like any other kid, I have been a huge fan of the ‘Harry Potter’ series since childhood. There was a time in school when I would enact casting spells with my pencils and wooden sticks.”

“All actors have a dream role and mine is my childhood dream of being a part of a wizardry school. I really admire the chemistry between the three friends – Harry, Ron and Hermoine. I hope that someday ‘Harry Potter’ is made in India and I get to play Harry’s character,” he added.

The Harry Potter series followed its protagonist Harry’s quest to overcome his arch-enemy Lord Voldemort.

The Harry Potter Film Series will kick-start with the successful franchise’s first instalment Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone on September 17. In the films, Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, was well supported by his friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson).

Darsheel Safary will soon be seen as a lead in an upcoming film titled Quickie. The makers of the film had recently released the first look of the film. The poster had various words which are related to the youth such as Netflix, Sexy, Bromance, Nightout etc. The film is captioned as ‘Inspired by true emotions’. It has been directed by Pradip Atluri.

However, Rohit Shetty has now revealed that while he has bought the rights of Temper, the film that he is going to direct is not exactly a remake. He clarified that he has taken only four-five scenes from Temper’s original version but to avoid any problems, he thought that it’s better to buy the rights. He also reminded that he did something similar with his hit 2011 film, Singham. His version was drastically different from the original version and yet, he obtained the rights.

  66. New Releases Daddy And Poster Boys To Find It Tough Going
    Thursday 07 September 2017 12.30 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

There will be many new releases this week with Daddy, Mr. Kabaadi, Poster Boys, Sameer and The Rally with Daddy and Poster Boys getting the best releases. Poster Boys is a comedy film which is a remake of a Marathi film but the production values of the film are poor and its look more like a film for television than a feature film. The film has Sunny Deol who ruled the box office in the nineties and still has some face value. Ghayal Once Again opened to 5.50 crore nett but was an action film. The Yamla Pagla Deewana films were comedies and opened even better at 7.5 and 6.25 crore nett but they looked bigger films than Poster Boys. The plus for Poster Boys is that its low cost with it being released and marketed at under 30 crore but its this factor also which probably comes in the way of the film getting some sort of starting point.

Daddy is that typical underworld formula which does not even work in Mumbai today. There was a time when the better underworld films worked in Mumbai circuit as Mumbai / Thane / Pune belt did well but the dynamics of the box office have changed as at that time these cities could contribute 70-75% of the circuit business but now its much lower and also the audience seems less interested in this type of cinema. The rest of the country was never really interested and its the same today but still the industry seems to have a fascination for these type of films for some reason.

There is the Hollywood horror film IT also and this could give the two main Hindi releases a run for their money despite being an adult film. Also holdovers Baadshaho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan will be fighting for an audience so its pretty much a clustered week with the new releases facing plenty of competition.

The makers of Julie 2 thought it was a good idea to invite the former controversial CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani, now the presenter of the adult film Julie 2 for a press conference but it turned out to be a horrible idea. Nihalani, who proudly called himself a sanskari and gave a tough time to filmmakers during his tenure was slammed by the media for presenting an adult film soon after being sacked from his post.

    • Almost a month ago, we had reported that Saif Ali Khan will make his web debut with the original Netflix Indian show ‘Sacred Games’ based on Vikram Chandra’s novel by the same name. The crime drama that delves into the dark and gritty world of Mumbai city features the actor in the role of Inspector Sarjat Singh. In fact, the actor was recently spotted shooting for the same.

A picture of Saif Ali Khan in a Sardar avatar has been doing the rounds on social media and it is from the series ‘Sacred Games’. The actor kick started the shooting of the same along with the rest of the team recently and the actor’s intense expression in the attire of the cop says it all. In fact, Anurag Kashyap who is directing the series have been sharing quite a few updates about his experience of shooting the web show on social media platform.

On the other hand, for the uninitiated, let us remind you that the web show also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the prominent role of gangster Ganesh Gaitonde whereas Radhika Apte plays the role of RAW analyst Anjali Mathur. Based on reality, the series will trace the deep nexus of crime and politics as it takes you through the journey of a police officer named Sartaj Singh.
