  4. While celebrities and fans of her poured their heartfelt condolences on Twitter, It was Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet that left us with an eerie feeling hours before the news of her death broke. Big B’s tweet suggests that he either had a premonition or was informed by the actress’ family about her untimely death
Mr. Bachchan on Twitter wrote in Hindi that he had an uneasy feeling and he did not know the reason behind it.

    See the tweet here –

    • Enough of Bachchan and his Twitter antics. Its not a premonition as being claimed by stupid media. By the time he posted, Sridevi was dead and Jaya Bachchan was in Dubai with Sridevi, she might have informed him right away before it was announced it over the media. Even my own post on this blog was hardly less than 30 mins after Bachchan’s tweet. So, Bachchan won’t know the news 30 mins before online forum people? Why this act of premonition, I don’t get it.

  13. RIP!!! Life is so unpredictable and her untimely death is a reminder that life is shorter than we all think…her daughters are still pretty young to go through the experience of losing their mother and hope her family finds peace during this heart-wrenching situation.

She was a true Bollywood legend and probably one of few superstars in female fraternity. Since she is a public figure / out in the arena my few personal observations –

Though death knocks the door for no real reasons but given her status and access to best medical advice and services this is too sudden and was extreme weight loss, plastic surgery has had some sort of diabolical effects to her inner well being…hope she was not upto lipo or popped a pill something etc…

On Bachchan tweet less said is better….. If he came to know about through his sources earlier than others, he could have simply tweeted the exact news or simply kept quiet if he did not want to be the first one to relay this new instead of these insinuations and acting godly if what he felt……. probably Amar Singh got this news earlier due to Boney Kapoor / Sahara link etc… disappoints again….. !!!

      • meant to respond to Master earlier too but actually Bachchan didn’t say any such thing. He just put up one line (cryptic for sure) on twitter and his blog. The media then gave it this spin. He might or might not have known but either way the idea that he was pretending to foretell things that he already knew about is absurd. Today too he just has one line on both platforms. Hasn’t said anything about Sridevi. I’m sure he will eventually.

Bachchan gave enough fodder for media to carry out huge articles calling it premonition. By the time I saw that same post on here, I was pissed on the media and Big B. He might have known by then about rushing to hospital and all that stuff. (His tweet is just 30 mins before my msg on this own blog). You want folks to believe that it is co-incidence and that he really felt something bad going to happen without referring to Sridevi’s condition at all?

Simply put, if it was not related to Sridevi, he shouldn’t have put that tweet. If you want to believe its co-incidence and without knowing about Sridevi(impossible knowing Jaya is in Dubai) then you are behaving like media.

He might have known, and then felt what he did emotionally, didn’t feel at liberty to reveal anything but was in that mood and said what he did. Now your point is why say anything? And I’m saying he’s human too! I wouldn’t jump on him for this.

Rests of my posts are about basic timeline media or the family could have shared to stop any speculations esp since she is such a big public figure and if she was not ill it becomes all the more important…… several celebrities in the west have revealed their struggle with a chronic, often invisible, illness. Just few months back Selena Gomez revealed that she suffers from lupus and she shared a post on Instagram that showed her in a hospital bed, having just undergone a kidney transplant…. Now god forbid something happens to Selena Gomez the context will be known.

        • I think all those pics and videos circulating are not from the day of her death but from the day of marriage / reception held earlier. As per this article Boney Kapoor had returned to Mumbai for another function and flew back to Dubai to surprise Sridevi and was with her during her last few hours.

A short press conference either by family, police or hospital as done in the West could serve all the anxious fans.

          https://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/news/sridevi-stayed-back-dubai-spend-time-her-sister-boney-kapoor-flew-back-surprise-her-399480

“…. Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi flew back to the city after attending Mohit Marwah and Antra Motiwala’s wedding in the UAE. Sridevi reportedly stayed back in Dubai to spend time with her sister Srilatha. She checked into Emirates Towers after the wedding after Boney and Khushi left for India…..”

        • Great. Time stamp makes it clear with the color of dress worn in those videos. So all those media stories of her singing and dancing before her final moments are false.

When you read the article below along with the comments one starts to feel a bit uneasy……may be Bachchan knows more than meets the eye and that tweet starts to make sense now.

          https://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/news/sridevi-s-last-moments-boney-kapoor-found-her-motionless-bathtub-399505

“…..A source recounted her final moments to a gulf tabloid. According to the source, Boney Kapoor reached her hotel at 5.30 PM and woke her up and invited her for dinner. Sridevi was resting and after Boney’s arrival, the couple chatted for 15 minutes post which the actor went to the washroom.
Sridevi did not come out after 15 minutes and a worried Boney Kapoor knocked on the door. When he got no response, he forced open the door to find her motionless in a bath tub. “He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9pm,” the source said….”

Few valid comments below the article show many are interested in getting to the bottom of all this esp the timeline given publicly –

“PV, this report is false. MidDay has confirmed with the hotel staff that they found her in the bathroom and boney wasn’t there. They took her to the hospital right away. Sanjay Kapoor also confirmed.”

“the timeline is really confusing now. I thought she passed away between 11-11.30 pm. Here it says Boney called the police at 9 pm. Looks like there are multiple sources (from the family?) putting out info, but they’re not lining up.”

” This is poorly written and inaccurate, there are too many numbers missing, you will have to wait for medical/police reports. I was pretty sure it was from plastic surgery operations wearing down her heart, because they do that… but you are right, it is sounding a lot like drug overdose. But why? And high at family wedding with daughter present? It must be a diet related pill, not hard drugs”.

“ok. the numbers are NOT adding up, and its creeping me out. pls say pinkvilla and the guld tabloid got it wrong, not that those stupid ass producers waited for THREE GOD DAMN HOURS before taking her to the doctor. That was literally give her 6 hrs during which she could have been revived. wth.”

“He forced opened the door to find her motionless in the bath tub” why did he forced opened the door? Was the door locked? If so why will a wife locked her hotel bathroom door while her husband is with her? Why did Boney come to India and returned to Dubai less than 48 hours later? Too many questions. We need answers

“Boney Kapoor reached her hotel at 5.30 PM and woke her up and invited her for dinner. Sridevi was resting and after Boney’s arrival, the couple chatted for 15 minutes post which the actor went to the washroom. Sridevi did not come out after 15 minutes and a worried Boney Kapoor he forced open the door to find her motionless in a bath tub. “

“Okay emergency ambulance should have been called at 6 or 6:15 pm why SRidevi was not taken to hospital emergency before 9:00 pm does not make sense.

…..so on and so forth and questions will keep arising…..

        • Also, the time the medics come and declare dead have meaning in case of cardiac arrest. I have seen/observed couple of incidences.. you probably have attack or arrest and dead for most part.. they will try to do resuscitation and take you to hospital.. even they may try the same but actual timing is when doctor gave up and in reality the person is dead when you call medics..

This is strictly my opinion..A person in medical field may give better explanation.. since Jaya was there it is possible someone told Amitabh about the situation and he basically wrote it on Twitter…and Indian media with zero journalist capability feed on such comment..

        • More than Jaya B, I am angling more towards Boney Kapoor / Amar Singh side of things with Boney member of the Sahara Group plus both referring to each other as brothers and it may have spilled out to Bachchan from there…

Personally I cannot imagine murder / foul play as this is a foreign nation with strict laws but yes autopsy report may be compromised to assist the family / higher up for the sake of confidentiality & secrecy. This now does not seem like a natural death to me but complications with overdose / medications / procedures… Boney Kapoor flew back to UAE urgently to attend and rest is all made up. I am thinking on the lines of MJ and Prince but on a much smaller scale.

    • Pretty sure the first film of hers I saw was Chandni. Always remember seeing that VHS when I opened my dad’s cupboard when I was little. In fact I was watching it recently on TV too as I always thought Rishi Kapoor is thought to die and then comeback. That’s what over 20 years of poor recall value did to me.

Then an odd film of choice is Gumrah with Sanjay Dutt. Loved that film as a kid – no idea why.

I can’t recall names of others just that whilst growing up she was always synonymously talked about with Madhuri Dixit. With Bollywood rarely on TV or accessible, it was radio or those stardust magazines where we’d learn of what’s happening.

We just had more Madhuri films but always grew up in the knowledge of how big Sridevi was.

Bollywood’s favorite diva, Sridevi left for heavenly abode last night. The actress who was in Dubai, UAE to attend the wedding festivities of Mohit Marwah, succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest.

Her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi Kapoor were by her side when she breathed her last. Brother-in-law, Sanjay Kapoor had just landed in Mumbai when he got the news and he immediately, from the airport itself flew back to Dubai.

As per sources, Sridevi’s body will be coming to India today. Her family members, including husband Boney Kapoor, daughter Khushi Kapoor and brother-in-law, Sanjay Kapoor will be getting her back to her residence in Lokhandwala, Mumbai by today.

“Sridevi’s mortal remains are expected to reach Mumbai by Cargo or a Private Jet at the Cargo Airport Terminal between 12.00 PM to 3:00 PM as per the Indian Standard Time,” says a Mumbai International Airport official.

As per Dubai Law, the body has been sent for a post-mortem, post which the various paper work will be issued and only once the Doctors and Police Officials there clear all the certificates, the family will be handed over the body.

Rajdoot Singh, an official from UAE, said: “The body of the deceased shall reach post 3 PM.”

After reaching Mumbai, her body will be kept for her near and dear ones to pay their last homage. Many celebs will be reaching her residence once her body arrives. Post all this, her last rites and cremation ceremony will be held later in the evening at the Hindu Cremation Ground in Juhu.

    A write up on Facebook:
“While we are all mourning the untimely demise of Sridevi, it is important to remember why this may have happened to her. society demanded that she stay slimmer/look younger than a 40 year old, 50 year old and plus 50 woman needs to be–hence, the continuous surgeries. when i met her about 5 years ago, she was beautiful but a sad version of that self that we loved so much in a movie like Chandni. What a lot of pressure to keep her weight down, to make sure that her face had no wrinkle lines….continuous clinic visits in Southern California. as a friend of mine, Dipanwita Basu wrote this morning…do we need a #metoo movement in fashion, #notsize0? Milan has already implemented this but these patriarchical implants were in her head — the husband, who claimed to love her so much should have intervened, did he love the way she looked as his arm candy more than he loved her? She herself did not trust in her own beauty — she was a clothes horse for whoever would care to dress her. What i conclude is she had such a lack of love for oneself and such a lack of self esteem that her own lips didn’t suffice, her own face was not good enough, her flesh and blood had to be sucked out of her so that she could wear the best of couture. that is the sadness of a life that could have been lived so much better not just for her but for her daughters. what a terrible legacy for her girls.”

There is always chance of infections, side effects, drug reactions, body rejecting foreign substances on implants, anything can go wrong. It is matter odds. As you grow older the odds are worse.

She has done huge blockbusters in all Southern languages and then went to do huge movies in Bollywood and then did massy roles and critics pleasing roles and everything. She has covered length and breadth of the country and charmed everyone with her beauty and acting. She has huge fan following in middle east and Pakistan too. Hema Malini comes to my mind as second big star well known in India but still she never had any southern movies blockbusters as Sridevi does. Sridevi is and will be unique unifier of all India interms of movie/stardom. There will be just ONE SRIDEVI!!

There is no reason to believe any foul play here…..

But yes I believe it’s important for celebrities to share their health struggles if any in the open. When they share what they are going through esp the tough times just like we normal people do, it is not only empowering but validating at some levels. They help us relate and we all can see bits and pieces of ourselves in their lives.

Actually in the Indian subcontinent it’s a bit of a cultural stigma attached and through our diseases we are made to feel as if we are paying for our sins / karma. This is where I admire the westerner esp. the Americans where we regularly find celebrities speak up about their illness. It is a brave move to make it public and share your story which helps to spread awareness about the struggles the diseases and the things you go through….as sad as it is sometimes that offers validation and helps others understand.

The more awareness we bring toward what we live with each day, the more others will understand. The more we share the more we learn. The more we learn that others have struggles too, the more we realize we are all human and we do not have to go through anything alone.

Sridevi’s body that was to reach India today is now likely to be flown home on Monday. The delay has been caused due to the paper work process and her autopsy.

As per fresh reports from Dubai, the body of legendary Indian actress Sridevi, who died in Dubai on Saturday night, is likely to be flown home on Monday.

The reason for the delay, as stated by the officials happens to be the paper work and final investigations.

The body could not be repatriated on Sunday as the final investigation reports from Dubai Police were not ready by late evening, officials dealing with the legal formalities told Gulf News.

By 4:00 PM it was speculated that the Dubai authorities will release Sridevi’s mortal remains and handover the body to the family members. But, by 5:45 PM, official sources confirmed that Sridevi would not be sent home today, i.e. Sunday.

They further assured the family that they will try their best to complete all the formalities by Monday.

Authorities in Dubai had been trying to assist Sridevi’s family to send her remains to Mumbai at the earliest on Sunday.

    As per the latest Update:

    1) The approx departure time from Dubai will be 8:00 PM [9:30pm IST]

    2) The Kapoor family and mortal remains of Sridevi should be in Mumbai by 2:00 AM – 3:00 AM approx. After which, they will straight away head for their family home.

    3) 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM the near and dear ones will be paying respect to the Legendary actress at the Kapoor residence, Bhagya Bungalow, Versova, Andheri (west).

    4) At around 1:00 PM approx the cremation ceremony will take place at Pawan Hans, Vile Parle

All this while, the Kapoors received a great help from the Indian Consulate representatives who had been coordinating with Dubai Police and other authorities concerned.

Even after repeated attempts, the procedures could not be completed before the office hours in local departments in Dubai.

The postmortem and forensic investigation were conducted by a special team of officials from Dubai Police department.

“This will take time,” an official source said around 4:15 PM.

A relative representing the family was allowed inside along with a representative of the Indian Consulate to talk to the officials at the mortuary of Dubai Police Headquarters.

As reported earlier, Bollywood’s first female superstar succumbed to a massive heart attack on February 24, 2018 at around 11:30 PM after collapsing in a bathroom at Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

The first time I heard of Sridevi was in the early 1980s. Actor Jeetendra spoke to me about her while interviewing him. Then he took me to watch some songs of Himmatwala in which Sridevi was being launched.

And he told me: “Just watch her, she doesn’t speak a word in Hindi but she is going to be a sensation in Mumbai after this film.”
I was on the sets with Shekhar Kapur when he was briefing her on the ‘I love you’ song in Mr India. Whatever Shekhar Kapur told her about what he wanted in the scene, she would just blankly listen to him and translate it in Tamil to her sister Srilatha, who stood next to her. After they went away, I asked Shekhar why she was explaining everything to her sister, especially because her sister is not going to do that scene. Shekhar said, “Maybe that is her way of processing.” When the camera turned on, again she was an absolute joy to watch.

  41. 10.02 pm, Feb 26: Sridevi’s body could not be repatriated on Sunday as the final investigation reports from Dubai Police were not ready by late evening, officials dealing with the legal formalities were quoted by a Khaleej Times report.

Officials also said that as per usual protocols, these tests take up to 24 hours in the case a person has died outside a hospital in Dubai. The same safety and administrative protocols are being followed by the police in this case as well. Sridevi was getting ready for dinner with her husband Boney Kapoor in Dubai when she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest in her room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers hotel, says a report in the Khaleej Times, quoting family sources.

According to the report, Boney Kapoor, who had left Dubai for Mumbai, returned on Saturday evening to surprise his wife. He reportedly woke Sridevi up around 5.30 pm and the couple chatted for around 15 minutes, the report says.

Then Boney Kapoor asked her to dinner. The 54-year-old star went to the washroom to get ready. When she didn’t come out for some time, her husband knocked, then forced open the door to see the actor “lying motionless in a bathtub full of water”, according to the Khaleej Times.

“He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9pm,” the report says, quoting a source.

She could not be revived. Her shocked family says she didn’t have any heart condition.

To get ready she went to bath room. she was way too sleepy and fell asleep in the bath tub full of water. If she had gone for shower instead of bath, this would not have happened. There were earlier reports too tht she did drink and sometimes a lot. He shouldn’t have woken her from deep sleep.

      • It is the lack of information that is crreating a tamasha It is better for the family to post correct information from time to time, to separate fact from fiction. If she was indeed in inebriated state, assuming that she did drink, then someone must have filled the bath tub. It takes much longer than 15 minutes to fill it. If she walked in, filled bath tub, how come he forced the door within 15 minutes of her going to bath room. If a spouse has gone to bathroom, there is not need to knock the door down within 15 minutes. It is more likely to be 45 minutes to an hour, that one gets suspicious. How come Sridevi’s body had been found in a “bloated state” and that she had not left her hotel room for 2-3 days prior to her death. Bathtub filled in 15 minutes and bloated within 15 minutes is not possible.
The time line doesn’t add up and it could all be because media is generating timelines, creating fiction when nothing is known for certain. Swami also weighed in and thinks it is a murder.

I remember, for the track, Dushman Dil Ka Jo Hai Mere, choreographed by Saroj Khan, she had to descend a flight of stairs while staying in character. And she did it without even glancing at the steps. It was commendable. Amitabh Bachchan had sent her a truck full of flowers, and a note of appreciation after seeing the scene. He wondered how she managed to descend the stairs to the tune so smoothly. In fact, he even tried to do so at home, but was unable to get past a few steps – Satish Kaushik.

The step is around 40 secs mark.

After her death, Amitabh Bachchan is on record in the interview to Lehren: ‘She had a sixth sense… she had a premonition. I was shooting for Coolie in Bangalore. I was staying at the West End Hotel. My association with Smita was limited to the sets. Other than that I never made contact with her. We never met socially.’

‘But one night, at about one, I got a call in my room. The operator said Smita Patil wants to talk to you. I first thought it was a prank. But then I took the call and it was Smita.’

‘She said, “Amit-ji, I am sorry to disturb you, but are you okay?” I said, yes, I am fine. She said, “no I just got up and I had a very bad dream. I just wanted to call you and find out if you were okay.” She was on location somewhere. And that was it.’

‘Next morning I had my accident. It was just unbelievable. Throughout the two or three months I was in the ICU, she was a regular visitor. When I came home, she would come every evening and enquire about me. I can never forget that.’

According to a source, Boney Kapoor was questioned at the office of the interior ministry at Dubai DXB about the sequence of events. The family of Mohit Marwah was also questioned. Besides, the hotel’s staff was asked questions about the incident.
Sources in Dubai said Dubai Public Prosecution (DPP), will if necessary, ask for another post mortem on Sridevi’s body. It is also learned that Kapoor has been asked not to leave Dubai until DPP permits him. Meanwhile the police are examining Sridevi’s phone call records.
Sridevi’s medical records from India have also been sought. The prosecutor’s office wants to know what medical treatment she had taken before and what surgeries she underwent and if that had any bearing on her sudden death.
As per Dubai rules, the death certificate was first issued in Arabic. The attested English translation was also provided.

    • Dubai is a shady place and a haven for Indian money-bags. It may have looked less suspicious if this had happened in Europe or States. That autopsy report is likely to be cooked, since no way can an autopsy reveal that drowning was ‘accidental’ or suicidal or homicidal. That can only be concluded after police investigation and court case.

Things dont add up here. And the entire twist from cardiac arrest to drowning has given fodder to the media. The sequence of events from stray reports also dont make much sense. Its all over the place and foul play cant be ruled out. They just found ‘traces’ of alcohol and some are bringing in MJ and Jim Morrison into the picture here. Heard a talk show about her being depressed and suicidal, our own Heath Ledger! In reality, it seems more in lines of Divya Bharti’s death.

Liked her work in English Vinglish and Mom. Would have looked forward to see her more onscreen, than her daughter in Dhadak or Sadak. Her comeback was much better than say Madhuri Dixit’s.

      • The only reason I brought up MJ as I found her skin never stayed consistent and gradually grew paler and she may be doing skin bleaching and changing of her features to appear white. Jackson had similar obsession with white skin and his life ended to a cardiac arrest resulting from all the complications and then consumption / intoxication of heavy duty pain killers and drugs.

Blaming media is pointless as none (family, police or hospital) came with any update to allay, blunt or subdue any fears……unless they were busy with their own ‘firefighting’ and media speculation was least of their concerns…..

The only normal child artist I can think of is Jodie Foster. Her single mom recognised her as protege, used her for making money maybe, but invested in her education. Sending her to premiere institute , studied in french, Later she even went to yale. She grew up as normal as one can be in Hollywood and media setting. Sri didn’t have that luck. She didn’t have the normal, healthy childhood the way say a Madhuri Dixit had. Her life, possibly closer to Rekha’s, parents pushing the kids for their own ambition. Though Hema Malini somehow escaped pushy mom and found her own voice and strength, without leaning too much on Dharam. She carved out an identity of her own. Strong lady. I can never imagine Sri doing anything alone. take a flight abroad alone, go shopping alone. I think she would be lost without Boney. That explains why she didn’t step out of hotel room for days. Possibly her sister might have some hand in all this. The swift way Dubai police concluded the case is also very unlike how it would have been, had it been in India or for that matter any other country! Fishy. Lot of unexplained and unsolved mystery!
May she finally rest in peace. May media and people leave them alone in this time of grief.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_Dutt

    Death[edit]
On 10 October 1964, Dutt was found dead in his bed in his rented apartment at Pedder Road in Bombay. He is said to have been mixing alcohol and sleeping pills. His death may have been suicide, or just an accidental overdose. It would have been his third suicide attempt.[12]

Dutt’s son, Arun Dutt, considered the death to be an accident. Dutt had scheduled appointments for the next day with actress Mala Sinha and actor Raj Kapoor for his movie Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi, to discuss the making of colour films. According to him, “My father had sleeping disorders and popped sleeping pills like any other person. That day he was drunk and had taken an overdose of pills, which culminated in his death. It was a lethal combination of excessive liquor and sleeping pills.”[13]

At the time of his death, Dutt was involved in two other projects – Picnic starring actress Sadhana, and director K. Asif’s epic, Love and God. Picnic remained incomplete and Love and God was released two decades later with Sanjeev Kumar replacing Dutt in the leading role.

The extra-feature on the DVD of Kaagaz Ke Phool has a three-part Channel 4-produced documentary on the life and works of Dutt titled In Search of Guru Dutt.

A Doordarshan documentary on Dutt aired on 10 October 2011.

it’s not some old Mirza Ghalib sher but written at the time of Guru Dutt’s death by Kaifi Azmi.

and then since her immediate family seems contented and is not chasing any sort of ‘foul plays’ plus the circumstantial indications till now, this seems to be pretty logical……more so after watching her clean innocent face during her funeral…

They prey on common public sentiments and join the chorus to play along and kill time with red colored captions of Breaking News.

        • For some weird reason I am thinking about Princess Diana’s death right now. I remember being shocked yet moved by how a very controversial and confusing death was turned into a historic event on UK TV without turning into a shambles of investigations. I don’t know how it was presented outside of UK, but on our TV and newspapers it was handled with so much class. Yes she was royalty (and some privileges to boot) but in so many ways famous people in India practically are royalty. But some of the absurdity and utter nonsense post death is inexcusable.

I’m happy to see her funeral is some what glorious in amongst the common people and by in large has not been some industry only event. That’s true adoration. The media have been very poor in forgetting someone died and not going through her life/accomplishments and instead trying to piece together ugly misguided versions of her final hours. She’s got 50 years of life to speak off as a famous star yet the media focussed on her most darkest moments and made hay while the sun shined.

The reality is the consumer is the fault. The media sells what people want to read. I’m learning a lot through bits and pieces, some write ups are interesting. I can’t even say I was a huge fan, Madhuri always trumped Sridevi for me. But once I factor in all the new stuff I didn’t know, Sridevi sounds ethereal and this is a horrific loss – a legit living legend.

Social media is quite a polarised piece of technology in itself. In this kind of situation it’s full of some terrible traits. I mean we shouldn’t be insistent on hearing from public figures through these mediums. For centuries people communicate face to face and now if X celebrity talks or doesn’t talk we get riled up.

Worse still her children sit through all the rubbish noise in their most testing times. This is not media, it’s just gossip.

The poor cameramen had to get rid of the setup but I did not mind as I managed to make the otherwise media-shy Sridevi speak her heart out, albeit in Hindi.

“Mujhe mann karta hai wapis retire ho jau. Camera pasand nahi aate aajkal (I feel like retiring again. I have started disliking cameras these days),” she said, staring back at the prying camera eyes with contempt. “But you never retired in the first place,” I said in a star-struck-cum-reassuring tone. “Of course I did. From day 1 there was never a singular story / timeline floated and that too kept changing. Death of this celebrity took place in a foreign land which infamous for its underworld operatives and laundered wealth of the money bags. Then there Boney Kapoor type of a shady personality with checkered history associated with white collared criminals like Amar Singh / Sahara….of course they is bound to be speculations…. .even if a close associate from family or senior figure came forward and released the circumstances that caused her death, the matter would die like the other ones from recent past for RK, VK, Shashi Kapoor and it would be part of the history books…..she isn’t a ruling star from any angle the whole thing turned into a manufactured frenzy…..

In terms of privacy just watch how quickly and within days this same family will be out and partying and going about their ways…..so why this sudden shyness and what’s there to hide even if a cosmetic procedure went wrong, or the person was an alcoholic or mixed his/her drinks drugs or pills. It will serve common interest to warn people of the dangers. If this same person enjoyed being alone and ended up dying that way why is it so shameful to disclose …why do we need to put up a façade and prove all was hunky dory. If they had simply put out a statement upon hearing her condition Boney flew to be by her side all this speculation would simply have died on day one……Crime , mystery and then whodunit is part of human genetic….

    • Read some surprising wise words from our great Salman. He said something in the lines that he cant afford to get depressed or emotional about anything in life. Whether he is an asshole or a criminal or a sadhu, he has intentionally chosen to be a ‘Star’ and he has to oblige to that life of glamour and pretense. There is no escape from it.

For the general public, they are just a means of entertainment. Go to a political rally in India and ask the crowd if they care about the politician speaking or the so-called cause; but then you already know the answer.

    Rekha’s deep connection with Sridevi
    Bollywood Hungama

    BySubhash K. JhaMar 5, 2018 – 11:03 am IST

Sridevi was truly bonded with Rekha in more ways than one. And it was not just personal. It was professional as well. In the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Aakhri Raasta, Rekha had dubbed for Sridevi. But the bonding goes back to before that time. Over to Rekha, “I’ve always loved that girl (Sridevi). She has a special spark about her. I believe after Vyjanthimala and Hema Malini, Sridevi was the third Tamil superstar in Hindi cinema. Me? No, I don’t think I was anywhere near these actresses.”

Rekha specially singles out Sridevi’s dancing skills. “She was a much better dancer than I was. I just managed to look like a dancer without being one.” Interestingly Rekha was instrumental in facilitating Sridevi’s stardom in Hindi cinema. Jeetendra who has worked in 18 films with Sridevi and 30 films with Rekha, reveals that Rekha was the first choice for Himmatwala, the film that catapulted Sridevi to stardom. But Rekha was committed to another project.

“That’s when we decided to launch a new girl. And the rest is history. Aise ittefaq aksar hote hain hamare industry mein (such coincidences often occur in this film industry). Rajesh Khanna and I were college friends and we entered the film industry together. I was supposed to do the film Raaz. But when I couldn’t do it due to date issues I sent the producer G P Sippy to Rajesh Khanna. The rest is, again, history.”

Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Anushka Sharma visited Sridevi’s residence to pay their last respects.
Actors Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Anushka Sharma – with cricketer husband Virat Kohli – met Sridevi’s family on Sunday to pay their last respects to the veteran actor who died in Dubai on February 24. The three actors could not attend Sridevi’s funeral on Thursday. On Friday, Sridevi’s ashes were immersed by the family – Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi and Khushi — in Rameswaram.

Other than Anushka, Aamir and Kangana, Sridevi’s residence was also visited by Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra and Janhvi’s Dhadak co-star Ishan Khattar.

Anushka could not attend the funeral which saw Bollywood celebs paying the actor their last respects as she was out of Mumbai to shoot for her next film. Aamir was also away, shooting for Thugs of Hindostan while Kangana was busy with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’s shoot schedule.

No mention of Om Puri (guess they may have covered in 89th academy awards earlier) and Vinod Khanna

Also, none from the music industry when ironically the song is by Tom Petty originally. There were great losses in music industry too – Tom Petty, Chris Cornell, Dolores O’Riordan

    http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/news/features/heres-why-aamir-khans-phone-call-from-la-made-boney-kapoor-weep-like-a-child/

‘It had so happened that Aamir’s close friend was on a holiday abroad, with his wife. While there, the wife had one day gone to the bathroom for a bath in the tub. Not having much to do, the husband, after a while, entered the bathroom, wanting to chat with the wife while she bathed in the tub. To his shock, he saw about half his wife’s face, including the nose, submerged in the water. Calling her out by her name, the man saw her stare at him blankly and make some feeble sounds. Wondering what was happening, the man shouted out to his wife, ran towards her and still screaming her name, pulled her out of the bathtub. The wife could barely stand. On being asked what had happened, all the wife could say meekly was, “I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what happened.” She looked half-conscious and could barely stand. The visibly shaken husband sat his wife down for a few minutes till she felt better.

“What had happened,” said Aamir to Boney, “was that my friend’s wife suffered from low blood pressure, and when she lay in the bathtub in extremely hot water, with her entire body, except her head, in the water, the blood pressure went further down. This made the blood rush down from her head (which was not in the hot water) to the lower parts of her body, making her feel giddy and semi-conscious. The doctor told the couple that because of the low blood pressure and the consequent flow of blood from her head to the other parts of the body which were inside the hot water; she could have lost complete consciousness and drowned in the tub. Had the husband not entered the bathroom, he would have, in all probability, lost his wife that day as she would have drowned in the water.” Aamir added, “The wife would not even have got a chance to shout for help or scramble to come out of the bathtub as she would not have realised that she had drowned, because of her unconscious state.” On hearing this, Boney started to cry inconsolably on the telephone. Revealed Aamir, “I feel, while I was narrating the incident of my friend’s wife, Boney was probably imagining how Sridevi ji, in similar circumstances as my friend’s wife, must have drowned to her death. He was so shaken that he was sobbing like a child on the telephone.”

    • It seems it is her first national award. It is sad that greatness or talent is sometimes recognised posthumously. If she was alive, would they have given this award to her? Mostly they would have given to some unknown or little known actress for an art film.

      • No way would she get this if alive. Good performance at best. There are better ways to reflect on her than give her a performance award.
