    • Really dont care that much, dude. Not a fan of Aamir spending 2 yrs on such films. That 300 cr demand is just to cover my arse for being a fan and a face-saving (death)wish.

Lagaan, TZP, Dangal, RDB, PK is what I expect him to spend his time on.

    • I am still skeptical..not saying this because I said it will end below 200 but I genuine wom is not there..I have said about wom.for.many films.before and generally you get the sense after speaking to film theatre owners..here many of my filmy friends are waiting for bated breath for today ..today if it is more than 35cr the movie has a chance..the day 1 number are extraordinary and it has clocked 80 percent average occupancy all over India overall during the day..so there is going a drop today..just how much no one knows…my own sense is this will drop to below 35 today..again I am.not trying to prove my case..I have been wrong many times before and have admitted as much…

      • ToH clocked 70% overall occupancy on day one.

      • This ain’t doing 300, will land somewhere between 200-225 crores. Even a gold did just about 105 crores with a start of 25 crores. So atmost it will follow the same trending and will get to that total. 300 crore is still not possible for an outright rejected film. This ain’t doing 35 crores today , a 25-30 crore seems to be more feasible.

This is the biggest disappointment of not only this year but of the last decade or so. The biggest bollywood movie has been the biggest disappointment.

        • Neither will it do 35 cr nor 25-30 cr.

Its set to do 30 cr today. Real question is IF it can grow over the next 2 days. It unlikely to have another 40 cr day, but ok kind of growth over sat and sun would mean the game is still on irrespective of a 65% fall or so on Monday.

  2. Interesting tidbit was the movie clocked lesser footfall in multiplexes than both tzh and sanju..the reason was.not lesser occupancy but longer length curtailing the number of shows…

Come on marcus Dont lie. Show me my one comment where is said that i am looking for ZERO. Nowadays i look forward to Raveer singh’s movie.

As far as ToH is concerned from day 1 i am saying if it does 300cr+ i will count it as success. Doing 300cr+ is not as easy as people are making.

It was just a flat film more than a bad one. Nothing exciting happens. There were probably 2-3 good moments in the movie when there should be at least 20. Not nearly enough highs. Even (SPOILER ALERT), when a family is murdered, you don’t feel anything. The first half was still watchable but the second just spiraled down. All sense and logic went out of the window and it just dragged on… and the climactic action sequence which should have been the high point was the weakest of all. Really sad, both BigB and Aamir Khan deserved a much much better film as their first one together.

    • Reading between your lines ToH is not as dramatic as BB2. But Yrf is always plastic. Not convinced yet that its any worse than TZH for example.

      Like

      • Filmy~Geek Says:

Not saying it’s worse than TZH but then is that really your benchmark? What were the expectations (quality-wise) from TZH and what were the expectations from ToH? Purely on *that* parameter, ToH feels like a much bigger letdown.

        Like

        • TZH/Sultan is Yrf’s benchmark for sure! Aamir’s involvement has added nothing to it, and thats the real disappointment (ignoring the propaganda part).

      • I haven’t seen TZH but have seen ETT. Now the latter to me was pretty flat in general, had a blockbuster song. It didn’t humour me. Parts of TOH are better but some parts worse. Overall I would watch TOH than ETT.

    • This is fair. I’ve heard some thoughts on the lines of this that it is boring rather than bad. I actually found it both in second half. The first half was fine as a setting up of the second half IMO. The second half just wasted the opportunity. If that scored, the difference might end up being 250Cr. That’s the size of the blunder.

      Like

      • You keep saying blundering second half, and I am sticking to my plan to watch it tonight just to know how messed up it is. I dont think Victor can outdo the D3 mess he created, but am willing to be surprised. The BO is not going to be as per expectations even in the best case scenario of 300 cr or so. Thus the only point of interest in this is to experience first-hand how much Aamir has screwed up …

PS – This is perhaps the last bollywood film that I have followed through the years since its inception. Nothing currently in production in bollywood has my interest. Even if MB happens (big IF), dont think I have much faith after TOH in Aamir to pull that mammoth series to proper destination.

He did not devote so much time on D3, and quickly followed it up with PK. But this is at a different level altogether … How will Aamir salvage his conscience about spending 2 years on this?

            Like

        • Marcus – Aamir has screwed up here. It’s not going to be rocket science once you watch it. His performance is pretty good overall. Let me know if the build up to Manzoor E Khuda moves you.

But children will be non judgemental in this sense. So in that segment there is scope.

    Box Office India Trade Network

Thugs Of Hindostan has set new ALL TIME RECORDS in Rajasthan and Mysore though both circuits missed the 3 crore nett benchmark by very small margins. The top opening days in Rajasthan are as follows,

    1. Thugs Of Hindostan – 2,91,00,000

    2. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 2,52,00,000

    3. Bahubali – The Conclusion – 2,36,00,000

    4. Tiger Zinda Hai – 2,12,00,000

    5. Singham Returns – 2,10,00,000

Thugs Of Hindostan also shatters records in Mysore though considering the numbers of past Aamir Khan films it should have got over 3 crore nett. The top five in Mysore are as follows.

    1. Thugs Of Hindostan – 2,88,00,000

    2. Dangal – 2,19,00,000

    3. Happy New Year – 2,05,00,000

On Firangi – it is on paper a pretty good acting role. But it’s trajectory is pretty lukewarm. When he should be serious he’s deceitful and when he is deceitful he should be serious. These moments are messed up a lot in second half, in the first half when a lot of character development takes place it makes sense.

Of course case here is different and Aamir is much bigger star and the film got the biggest opening.

Dont think ToH will get bad numbers in its final total considering the start it got on day 1. It will emerge as HiT, though expectation was more.

I will keenly tally the numbers with my prediciton now as i had predicted the day wise returns needed for ToH to be HIT.
All the best to Aamir fans. I hate their dramas and agenda and few of them are quite disgraceful, but love their passion.

  15. Thugs Of Hindostan Sets Huge Benchmark On Day One
    Friday 09 November 2019 12.30 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Thugs Of Hindostan has set the box office on fire on day one with records all over the place and the highest opening day ever of around 50 crore nett. The film has smashed all circuit records with possibly the exception of Mumbai, CP Berar and Tamil Nadu / Kerala.

CP Berar and Tamil Nadu / Kerala are not records while Mumbai final is pending. The film was hugely aided by the Diwali holiday which is the biggest day of the year for collections. It has beaten Bahubali – The Conclusion by around 9 crore nett and Prem Ratan Dhan payo by aroound 11 crore nett. These two were the top two prior to Thugs Of Hindostan with Prem Ratan Dhan Payo being released on the same day as Thugs of Hindostan and Bahubali – The Conclusion was a non holiday.

The film will see collections come down from these huge levels on day two though mass markets will hold better due to the Diwali follow up. Gujarat has an extended five day holiday period so that will hold but most multiplexes will see falls and it will be about where the film settles on day two.

The collections of Thugs of Hindostan are as follows. The final figures from all circuits are yet to come so those are apprx. The places where the final number is in has no apprx next to it.

    Mumbai – 16,25,00,000 apprx

    Delhi / UP – 10,60,00,000 apprx

    East Punjab – 4,90,00,000 apprx

    Rajasthan – 2,91,00,000

    CP Berar – 2,59,00,000

    CI – 1,76,00,000

    Nizam Andhra – 2,77,00,000

    Mysore – 2,88,00,000

    Tamil Nadu / Kerala – 70,00,000 apprx

    West Bengal – 2,10,00,000 apprx

    Bihar – 1,40,00,000 apprx

    Assam – 55,00,000 apprx

    Odisha – 60,00,000 apprx

    • Morning and afternoon shows are tracking 50% of yesterday’s in linited plex data available. That is 25 cr range considering lower ticket pricing today. Pickup in evening and night shows can take it to 30 cr, lets see.

    • Expect it to trend like Gold but at much higher levels. Today, it may go down a fair bit after a fantastic first day. It will then pick up again on Saturday and Sunday. Monday will show where the film goes.

It is a front-loaded kind of deal. The maximum it collects during this extended week end, the better. It doesn’t look like one that will collect well for weeks.

From the reviews and feed-backs and all the negativity around it, 300cr or anything above will be ok. People won’t be losing money at least.

The same cannot be said for those China distributors. It seems they have invested massively on it and if it tanks there, there will huge financial losses there.

Aamir’s goodwill there may take a hit but it will be up to him to bring it back. In India, Aamir’s market will not be really affected. He has delivered record breakers for so long. One slight blip (if it happens) will not matter much.

I feel he should just stay away from YRF in the future.

Alright friends, back from TOH viewing. We were 7 people total and we all liked the film. Now my few points here:
1). Aamir Khan: I can see why he chose this role, it gives him so many moments (and he has delivered everywhere, even in front of the master Big B). 10/10 for this to him.
2). Bachchan: This man is God of acting. Every frame he is in, he lifts it to dizzy heights. 10/10 for him
3). Kat K: I like her and whatever space she gets, she delivers. 10/10 for her
4). Fatima: she has a uni-dimensional character and she does well: 8/10 for her
5). Clive (whatever actor has played it): has a solid screen presence as a villain: 7/10

    – It is the acting of these main characters which makes the movie a one-time watch and one can enjoy it for what it is.
    – I met so many kids in last 2-3 days, they are all praise for the film.

Now some weak points, purely as a cine-critic:
1). Victor – 3/10 – this man has no idea of what was at his disposal….forget the big banner…he had such wonderful actors at his disposal who have still lifted the poorly written screenplay….the worst thing I found was that such movie has to have an impactful start within first few minutes….but nothing that soft of happens…..well, i don’t want to go in spoilers so more on that later….
2). Old, ghisa-pita plot and I can tell u that without these superb actors, this film would have gone down the drain without a trace…
3). BGM – too grand for a script which does not offer anything of that sort!!

    Technical Aspects:
    – Good Cinematography and some good VFX

Overall Verdict: 3.5/5 – one time watch and do not carry any great expectations for a masterpiece kind of cinema….then u will enjoy it more 🙂

2.0 trailer was pathetic on big screen
Zero trailer looked little better – much better than 2.0 trailer

Go watch it guys – bachchan and aamir’s scenes together alone are worth the ticket-price and aamir delivers a many-layered performance (with those close-up of talking eyes) and Bachchan is Bachchan…..wow! what a presence…..

      • Honestly speaking. Both on paper D3 and TOH were good masala scripts. Better director will have done more justice to them.

Bottom line is Aamir Khan will learn his lesson the hard way.

I agree a fair bit with Vee’s longer comment but in general Bollywood stars will turn to this kind of mass entertainer as audience is there. It’s the bread and butter of the industry – it’s just whether that refinement reflects sensibilities and demands of the audience.

I feel here everyone involved with TOH has disrespected the audience a fair bit. Raising ticket prices, avoiding pre release shows smells of them knowing they had a big failure on their hands so they deserve lots of rants. Once the dust settles, reality will click in even for me. It’s 1 bad decision against a bunch of good quality since Lagaan. Nothing to be overtly harsh about except don’t overhype rubbish!

Take the pill and swallow it, move on and don’t do it again. If Aamir ever works for VKA again I’m sure day 1 would be washout.

He surely knows how to help out and ensure good films in the terrains of Lagaan, TZP and Dangal (all his own productions). And its not just his association with YRF that has been poor overall, his limited understanding of masala films is the root of all such embarrassments.

One man cant be equally good in everything, he just needs to understand what his strengths are and stick to it.

  32. Guys, why is everyone discussing the box office so avidly and using it to justify this film? As far as I’m aware this is a forum for cinema lover not film producers/ investors so whether this film recoups it’s investment or not is not our primary concern. We all know that the monstrous initial is purely for Aamir’s star power and the marketing hype, not the quality or content of this film.

Comparing it to Sultan or Race is laughable because Aamir is a much more ambitious and capable artiste than Salman and the bar should be FAR higher for him. If he was going to take 2 years and spend 250 crores to make an adventure blockbuster set in a historic alternate universe my expectations would be more along the lines of Baahubali and less along the lines of a sub-par Salman potboiler!

Saying it’s a family entertainer isn’t an excuse either; just look at the kind of enjoyable, innovative, intelligent content that studios like Pixar or Ghibli regularly churn our for children! Even if Aamir doesn’t have the budget to match a Pixar production there’s no justification for why he went with such a half-baked script and crass, unintelligent filmmakers like Acharya and Chopra.

Personally, the trailers really disappointed me. The promos seemed so visually unoriginal (and derivative of more impressive Hollywood blockbusters) and tremendously tacky (particularly the presentation and outfitting of Katrina – although it’s typical of sleazy YRF which makes disasters like Befikre). When a star has Aamir’s intelligence and resources at his command, I think we’re justified in expecting a fantasy film that builds an imaginative, intelligent, enchanting universe and not some tawdry, forgettable pirate flick with 18th century courtesans clad in glittery crop tops.

Aamir is at the peak of his star power and given his age, he has only a limited amount of time left to helm such memorable projects. As someone who admires the singular path he has carved for himself in contemporary India cinema, I really hope he uses the next few years to make much more ambitious and distinctive films and I’m disappointed that he chose to dedicate two years at this stage of his career to this film, regardless of whether it makes 100 or 1000 crores.

    • No one here is justifying his decision to do TOH on the basis of any numbers of crores earned. Thanks to his clout in China and previous BO record, this film will earn enuf money for everyone concerned.

We just want this to get to a respectable total to ‘decrease’ our embarrassment levels that he had actually spent 2 yrs on this. Thats pretty much it.

However, Aamir has his arse stuck in the masala-hole like most people of his generation. In that way, he isnt above any of his contemporaries. If he was, then there would have been no Mela or RH or D3 or many other films in his career. He still talks about Ghulam and Rangeela as some great achievements. He is a mixed bag, like it or not.

      • Marcus – I agree that he has done his fair share of mediocre masala films as recently as D3. But even that was more forgivable IMO since it was an iconic franchise that he wanted to be part of and he was obviously limited by the Dhoom universe and could only do so much with it. But after the pan-Indian success of Baahubali you would think that he would set his sights higher and make a big mass, masala entertainer that is daring and imaginative and propelled by compelling characters and a richly original universe. And when he announced this epic, original project with Bacchan as a co-star and spent so much time and effort on it and gave it such a wide international release, expectations were justifiably extremely elevated.

I’ll agree that his career has been a mixed bag but I’m sure that you’ll also agree that his choices have mostly been more interesting (which is not the same thing as good or flawless) and that he has more intelligence and ambition than his contemporaries. After all, who else in his league and generation boasts of an oeuvre that spans from Lagaan to Taare Zameen Par to Delhi Belly to Dhabi Ghat to Satyameva Jayate? I wouldn’t necessarily call myself an Aamir ‘fan’ but I do think that he is the one current super star that I find very interesting in an otherwise banal, rather vacuous group of celebrities (this just my opinion – I don’t insult to offend or engage in argument with any SRK/ Salman/ Ranbir/ Varun/ Ranveer/ Ajay fans!)

    • I am going to skip this one. Canceled my booking. It’s not because I think this will be the worst film around or something. It’s simply because I find it upsetting that these two stars together and with this production house created something like this. I wasn’t expecting too much to begin with but to make a film like this is simply inexcusable. I have followed all the responses here on the blog, have read only a few reviews and now I’ve read Rangan’s. Again this is where with a serious film one can argue whether it went wrong or not but the debate is mostly about the box office. But with a film that’s just trying to be an entertainer there’s nothing redeemable if it fails at that basic level. To repeat the point to have this setup and to fail this badly.. it’s truly a historic failure. And it’s not like many great such failures where the films were important but not appreciated by their immediate audiences. I criticize Salman’s films all the time for being junk but at least they’re not trying to be much more than this. Simply amazed Aamir didn’t pick up the problems here. As for Aditya Chopra given the resources he has with his production house it must be the worst such thing in India. No vision, not even evidently enough horse sense to get true blockbusters even when the setup begs for it.

I’ve also read the comments on Aamir’s masala sensibility. It is indeed curious that he seems to do some utterly mediocre stuff when he goes in for this option (Ghajini is an exception). Whether these work or not they’re just poor films. Here there is a charitable explanation and a less complimentary one. I think the truth is somewhere in between. On the one hand for anyone who wanted to do masala in the 90s and beyond there wasn’t much choice. It was either the Inder Kumars and Darshans of the world or nothing. Of course this still isn’t an excuse because certainly post-Ghajini Aamir could have worked with other Southern talents if he wanted to. But the point is that the industry’s best talents have been into masala for 25 years or so (there are complicated reasons for this). This is not the case in the major Southern industries. In Tamil for example, and even if masala is ‘exhausted’ here too in many ways, you still have some very good examples of the genre. These aren’t ‘important’ films but they’re very good narratives and sometimes they’re interesting as well. I’ve said it before but Baahubali can only emerge from a ‘tradition’. Since the latter has long been dead in Bombay (not because it wouldn’t work, Salman’s Telugu inspired attempts should prove the opposite) it’s not possible to suddenly make the equivalent of this. Forget this, even Ghajini needs a Southern director! Santoshi has become extinct otherwise his Khakee was an excellent film in every sense. Not pure masala, more a thriller or drama with masala elements, but that’s fine. This too is the history of the genre. At its purest you get Desai and the like but then you also get a leaner, more narrative-oriented drama like Deewar. And of course there’s a lot in between.

But this brings me to my second point. A lot of people associate masala not just with these stronger branches of the tradition but also a kind of escapist fare that among others Aamir Khan’s famous uncle Nasir Hussain was also associated with (at least in the 70s, Hum Kisise Kumar Nahin et al). These were often enjoyable films with great soundtracks but really nothing to recommend them otherwise. This was the truly formulaic stuff. Of course there is always the element of the formulaic to any major commercial film, there are always buttons that the director is trying to push with his audience. But there’s a difference between using these elements to support an already strong narrative or an already distinct directorial style and as ends-in-themselves. It’s the difference between Ghajini and Sultan (to use two contemporary examples). Aamir I suspect, and for all his interest in Bachchan’s cinema and so on, is also a child of that poorer masala tradition. Much like farah Khan (OSO is a classic example of this). But it’s not just them, its also an entire class that’s grown up not housed in the stronger examples of the masala tradition that a) thinks everything that’s commercial and escapist is ‘masala’ b) that finds it hard to distinguish between strong and weak examples of the genre. Ironically Bachchan himself is responsible for this perception inasmuch as his one man industry phase from the 80s (though arguably an even greater triumph for the star than his 70s phase (because the films were mostly ‘nothing’ in that later age) itself becomes ‘classic’. It’s hard to argue against films like Namak Halal or Coolie (I’ve done this for both) because they’re incredibly iconic and because the star at its center really makes the audience forget just how weak these scripts are. Between Naseeb and Coolie (both Desai) or between lawaaris and Namak Halal (both Mehra) there is a gulf! The bachchan of the 70s is an incredibly gifted performer, including in the improvised sense, you need to just put the camera on him and it doesn’t matter what else is happening in those films (the production quality, the co-stars etc etc). Once again this sense of masala contaminates the glories of the 70s tradition. This is why I have forever argued for the 70s, never the 80s.

And so getting back to Aamir there is probably, and despite interest in this tradition, not enough of an understanding of what separates the true hallmarks from the merely enjoyable ‘superhits’. Yes he doesn’t have those talents at his disposal but this explanation only goes so far. What else could explain the failure of his otherwise uncanny judgment when it comes to this genre or more correctly super-genre? And all his success with Inder Kumar in the 90s (before Mann) probably confirms as much for him. But again this is also a failure of his audience. Just on this blog I’ve had many discussions/debates with people over the years who don’t seem to understand the difference. Whether people love or dislike masala they think it’s all one thing. it definitely isn’t. Much as the Westerns of John ford are very different from those of Anthony Mann much less Sergio Leone.

Getting back to TOH it’s clear that even the merely-enjoyable-masala category was a bridge too far. But this too confirms the point. Even to do this there has to be a healthy tradition. In any case, the best examples of masala depend on a certain cathartic element. The viewer must be invested in them as an emotional matter . Kranti isn’t some extraordinary example of masala as a narrative but it does what TOH isn’t able to. It works with a good enough script for sure but it also gets the catharsis right! Masala belongs to a history where cinema was ‘experience’ not consumption. Of course masala can be reduced to the latter. Again Bachchan heralded this move, in the contemporary age Southern masala has followed this lead (compared to this of course Bachchan’s 80s work seems fine!) and Salman has then followed it in turn in Bombay.

To underline all this once more I think TOH is a perfect symptom of the absence of this entire tradition for so long in Bombay. The fact that Bachchan himself is an integral part of it as is the otherwise incredibly shrewd (in terms of script sense) Aamir, only underlines the problem for me.

I also admit I’m generally quite intolerant of Hindi cinema these days. It just isn’t my thing most of the time. For example take Sanju. The second half was better than the first. It was ok for home viewing but I’m very glad I didn’t go to the theaters for this. The same holds for all of Salman’s films barring Bajrangi. A group conned me into going for Sultan on the spur of the moment and I was miserable! I could go on. I’ve never missed an Aamir film in the theater since Lagaan, this might be the first one! Or I might show up at some point when the dust clears a bit. Never say never!

Case in point the debacle of “Brothers” and underperformance of the new “Agneepath” . TOH is as close to Masala as one can get, I think the biggest culprit is Aamir’s get up/ character thru out the movie.. • yes but I’m not arguing for ‘old-fashioned’ masala. I am arguing for the equivalent for this in the present age. Now you’re certainly right in that the audience that has grown up on Yashraj and the like for 20 years now is extremely unlikely to celebrate such stuff. But a lot of this can be addressed with stronger scripts. The older masala films weren’t really about blood and gore. The action wasn’t ‘serious’ in most cases. The scripts were darker of course but again these can be sold. Also note how most of the films (any end of the production spectrum) just don’t trend too well. These might gross enough but are rarely that stable. The small ones do because of course without that quality they wouldn’t be doing anything. Clearly the initial can’t save them. My point is that even the genres and films that are supposed to be perfect for these multiplex audiences actually don’t do too well in most cases. The writing just isn’t there. If you follow SRK’s Yashraj/Johar graph over the years (DDLJ onwards…) it’s also a case of diminishing trending in most cases. But then the films are also usually worse. This is true across the board. PK neither trended like 3I nor Ghajini. But the latter is a good example. How could such a dark film become is huge in terms of the initial (surpassing everything else in sight by quite a margin) and maintain that trending. Indeed it did even better in smaller centers but it couldn’t have generated that kind of gross without marquee multiplex participation. The bar might be higher for masala. But at the end of the day the more Bollywood imitates the South the more it has the same sort of successes (from Salman to Ghajini to horror comedy). Baahubali was bigger than every Hindi release (the sequel). The audience isn’t as different as we think. Much as in those same Southern multiplexes a lot of the Bollywood genres are also popular. It’s not either/or. You can do both. But the attempt has to be a credible one.

          • on TOH I think it has all the tropes and gestures of masala but not the authentic commitment. And that is precisely my point. Of course it might just be a bad masala film. There were several in the 70s too that flopped. More to the point a lot of major multistarrers in the 80s also flopped along the same lines. Because these too just weren’t interesting enough as scripts. Just because one makes a grand masala film doesn’t mean one has also made a worthwhile one. TOH is generating these reactions not because it’s masala (otherwise no one would show up) but that it’s inadequate masala. Despite the audience’s habits over the last 20 years the convincing masala film still outgrosses everything else. Ghajini proved this (with respect to RNBDJ in the first instance) but also Salman who in nothing films and really as a brand of Southern star high on empty gesturality nonetheless keeps producing these initials.

I think the Masala that was missing was a back story to Aamir’s and Katrina’s characters. But how can only YashRaj and VKA be blamed for this?

      • Most bets are off in this scenario. Think about a film that was doing well like Badhaai Ho loses all screens. Exhibitors will be scathing.

Aamir Khan will need something very good next – no stupid biopic please. He needs that RDB vibe type film following Mangal Pandey. If Khurana is finding 2 small films surely Aamir can? Instead he’s giving away films to SRK!

        • Yeah not sure why he is not doing the rakesh sharma thingy..that should be great for him..initially I suspected the script was not good but then he wouldn’t have asked srk to do that movie..their equations are not like rivals

          • actually Aamir not doing it is a sure sign that the film isn’t good enough. It’s easy to see this. Not very much happens in this sort of space film. You need to maintain a certain grip nonetheless, the Apollo with Hanks kind of deal, for which you need good FX, authentic atmosphere and so on. Don’t think Indian cinema is there yet in this sense. In the absence of such authenticity there aren’t enough events in the script to keep things interesting for the audience. The result is probably a Swades-like sincere but not too interesting film.

          • by the way I love Aamir but I don’t buy this ‘the film was so good but I thought SRK would be better for it’! I wouldn’t buy this sort of thing from any star. Even the stars with the best body of work, even the ones who are sincere about their work, tend to be hopeless diplomats (to put it kindly) in their interviews.

  40. Thugs Of Hindustan Drops On Day Two

Thugs Of Hindostan has had a drop in collections on its second day and will collect in the 32-34 crore nett range. The huge opening day was expected and post the release the drop was also expected due to the reports. The drop is looking in the 35% region though parts of the country especially mass belts have held better due to post Diwali.

Despite the drop the film has still collected well as its coming from a high level. Ideally the drop should have been around 20-25% but its not as if the film has crashed out on day two. It will be a healthy number on day two and it is now about consolidating at these levels over the weekend. The struggle will happen if it keeps on going down over the next two days. If the film can hold over the next two days it will take the film to a huge extended weekend and then it becomes about weekday levels.

The first two day business will be in the 82-84 crore nett range and it remains to be seen how much the next two days can add. The second day will see the best business coming from Delhi / UP, Gujarat and Bihar. The biggest drops are in the South with Mysore going down around 40%. The obituary of the film has already been written by the media but with 82 crore nett plus in two days the collections are very good till now and no film has ever collected this much over the first two days.

    • Decent hold. It’s not the crash so many were expecting. But the cracks are starting to appear as well on day 2.

I do still expect a very good weekend hold. The crucial test will come on Monday.

        • Don’t think this film has a shot at 300 at this point. Don’t think this is D3. many people weren’t crazy about it but that film generated nothing like this reaction, including with the reviews. Even if it’s exaggerated in certain quarters this never happens with a film that is otherwise fine in every sense. Saket’s 250 seems to be the correct prediction, even this might be the high end one.

Incidentally I’m going to debunk the small town/single screen theory also. I don’t believe at all and never have that this audience watches a substandard film just because of genre. This might be true in a limited sense but no film that is completely rejected elsewhere does well in these parts. Usually that happens with films that big city audiences are often not as drawn to and therefore those films never quite get the right start whereas in smaller centers they show up. If the former happened those films would do better there too. So most people liked Wanted but not enough showed up for Salman in the multiplexes that mattered at that point. For Dabanng they did. Dabanng did 20 more than the entire run of Wanted in week 1. Now if this audience had showed up for Wanted they would have liked it enough. So this is a different sort of situation. Similarly some films appeal more to small town audiences for other kinds of reasons. But again I’ve never believed that those audiences will keep showing up for inferior films. Even desperation has its limits!

          • I still think this is ending in 180 to 190 range…unlike usual movies this one will further drop tomorrow..this is following raone trajectory at a higher level..if it goes that way sat and sun together will give it another 50 crs and then a crash

            Like

          • that range is terrible for this kind of film. Put differently it’s almost impossible for a film to start like this and not get to that range. Now it could be that it stays stable at the somewhat lower end and this would then imply some acceptance within cross-sections of the audience. It all depends on how it gets to your range or 250 or whatever.

Again no one has loved it may be apart from children. So let’s wait and see. I wouldn’t put a no. yet. As Jay told it can end up anywhere between 150 and 300.
Aamir movies definitely bring out extreme reactions from audiences. And this has been happening all throughout his career. Even in 90s. He has always been under microscope.
It’s easy to be wise after the event but I must say I am not surprised at how things have turned out.

        • Also post Dangal and SS with all the media reports I have been getting the feeling that Aamir has been starting to loose his way a bit. He normally takes very strong and confident decisions even though he takes his time. Off late he seems to be unsure of what he wants to do. Hence probably all the stories of different movies Aamir may do post TOH. Also films like D3 and ToH are more like his stress busters. He goes through so much stress for most of his roles he then decides to let go for once.

  41. I still think people are missing the point. With the continuous influx of Hollywood films (Avengers: Infinity War made over 250 crores at the BO) the audience perception is bound to change. Hollywood has superior special effects, big budgets, great staging etc, which (like it or not) is, going to form a strong aspirational standard for Bollywood films. For better or worse, even the standards of acting as displayed in Hollywood will be applied to Bollywood movies. And the one genre that’s going to suffer the most because of this phenomenon, is old-school masala.

For a new generation vowed by the pyrotechnics of Hollywood, masala cinema will seem too archaic, too flimsy and superficial to be associated with. A similar thing happened to the likes of Govinda who was quite successful before the multiplexes started mushrooming all over India. Suddenly, the power shifted to the more upwardly mobile, elite class of cine-viewers, and they found Govinda (and his films) to be beneath them. The very first day of ToH’s trailer release, social media was agog with Pirates of the Caribbean comparisons. And most of them were making fun of ToH! In a different age and time, this would not have happened.

So in this changing environment, the masala tropes that define this mode of cinema definitely need an upgrade. To cater to an ever-increasing Hollywoodized audience, the only solution is to keep the masala elements that are most familiar (songs primarily, although here I think the item number has outlived its utility) and ditch the ones that are most derided (funky action scenes or unreal situations; a 60 year old romancing a 20 year old is definitely a no-no). To reiterate what I’ve mentioned previously, masala cinema is in our DNA, but with an increasing Hollywood influence, masala filmmakers need to adapt and adapt soon. The audience should not feel as if it’s watching an inferior product. Keep it simple and most importantly, keep it real.

    • I’d agree with a lot here Saket but note how:

1)Salman proves the opposite. Here’s the worst kind of masala, Sultan or whatever, and it’s still pulling in huge numbers. These films don’t trend too well because they’re ultimately poor but if the audience weren’t interested in them these wouldn’t generate the massive initials in the first place.

2)All these factors are also true for a multiplex Tamil/Telugu audience and yet masala is still viable as ever there.

Of course I do agree that masala needs an upgrade. I’ve never dreamed it would be otherwise. I’d go further and say that most of the time the problem even with Hollywood is that the films for all the technological wizardry aren’t masala enough. The ones that are gross the best. In this sense Cameron is the best example, his last two films trended better than all other blockbusters and he believes in a certain old-fashioned kind of emotional investment.

with salman the focus shifts on the man himself! no one cares about masala or the technical aspects. they need to see the man in a particular format and thats what his films provide

with others in a similar format, it suddenly becomes troll-worthy. of course no one really trolls salman films because those are on expected lines. anyways beyond the mass circuits his films have lately started developing cracks beneath the weekend period. tubelight and race 3 etc are recent examples

        • true, the expectations from Salman are very different. However if masala weren’t acceptable, that too in this rather lowbrow format, how could someone like Salman be enabled in the first place? In other words how would he even find the space to become who he is? And I repeat, he could not come up with these initials without major multiplexes being on board.

      • Salman’s films are priced reasonably. Such huge banner films with top stars open well and that does 70% of the job. Add the festival timing and even if such movies are bad, they recover the cost. Salman’s films are not bad…so they become clean hits.
Bad films like CCTC too recovered its cost and yes that too was loved by children and still is. 🙂

    • The emotions and drama still work wonders. That emotional connect worked well with Baahubali. Coupled with a director’s tremendous vision, it worked wonders

In Bollywood, the problem is that kind of vision is lacking. But the main issue is that even when lavish spending can be afforded to make a film grand, it comes at the expense of the script and the writing.

They simply can’t find the right balance. The focus is on being grand but without a good script and without the required vision to turn grand into creative excellence.

    • I would argue that if we’re talking of “masala films” of 70s (and very early 80s), than it doesn’t need any upgrade (of course, clothing, setting, etc would change). Make the film frame per frame and see what it does today. I guarantee you that each well made masala of 70s will be blockbuster in todays time.

What you’re seeing today is not masala. It’s plain sh!t.

If TOH was truly made like Kranti, I bet it would get close to BB2, if not crossing it. Kranti was well made film with well structured masala formula. Each actor had a well written role and actors were chosen which fit the role (even manoj kumar). Of course, the songs are still even heard today.

Coming back to TOH, I think it will get close to 40 tomorrow and possibly over 40 on Sunday. Monday may be around 20. I still think that by end of the weekend, it will collect about 160 and by end of week 1, close to 225 crore. Then there’s nothing next weekend and nothing after that either. 300 crore is given.

Aamir I’m sure will be spared – if he has any sense he won’t defend this film any further. Otherwise even he will lose his fans. Numbers fudging has to stop. This orchestrating by production houses, BOI and others is so silly and petty.

Easiest resolution is have production houses disclose numbers in their audited financials.

If Aamir is involved – good luck to you as it’s even more disappointing then TOH.

  53. I’ll give simple example. Srk did HNY with Farah and the movie was not flop and it did good but the feedback from audience wasn’t positive all around. Srk understood it and then declined further movies with Farah. Its been 4-5 years and she has no new movie.

On the other hand, Aamir did D3, it did great business but the feedback was not all positive and he should have known it. There’s no way in hell, he should have signed another movie with same director in so quick succession. It was not even being planned with Aamir in mind and he jumped at it without much thought. That itself is wrong reason to sign a movie. He did same as Salman did with Race 3 and signing Daisy Shah, Jaqueline, Bobby to revive their careers. Aamir forced upon us the Sana Shaikh and pushing her into Thugs. Both superstars doing same mistake and jumping into movie after half the script and development is done replacing other actors. Both will see failure.

    • I don’t agree HNY did good at all. it too fizzled out after the initial. I doubt it did more than 175 though the numbers were over reported at 200. TOH might well be worse than this unless the total surprises. On D3 this was historic for 10 days and it became the biggest grosser, so it had that going for it, nonetheless it too disappointed. Relative to the initial it should have done a lot more. Again in all these cases I’m talking about audience response and trending, not how commercially viable or not the project ultimately was.

You can’t go from massive opening day which HNY had to ‘hey there’s nothing to see here because expectations weren’t great’. Actually it was a big release at the time and the third SRK-Farah team up after MNH and OSO. This is precisely what always annoys me. You can’t change the rules of the game later.

10 times better than D3 and will trend way better than D3 in the long run. Almost full house and audience liked it. A much better disney movie than a hirani film, but not that sugary and only comedy. All masala elements are ticked off in a designer way but somehow works like a fairy tale. Aamir plays it to the gallery with gr8 effect.

If your favourite star is questioned and you turn a blind eye that’s your own issue. But if you’re the first out when it’s someone you dislike, your points are just pointless.

People who hate fudging (like me) can rest in eternal peace. I’ll call out Aamir like here. If he’s fiddling he may have done it before. This kind of insecurity is the saddest around. I’ve never understood it.

I continue that BOI is a bs site. No matter what they are as culpable as producers or even actors come producers. No one should be spared here. Anyone cherry picking is just protecting their favourite star.

    • There is no cherry picking. I always accept HNY numbers of BOI over RedChillies or Taran. I never quoted it did 200 crs ever, always 180. But sometimes BOI will take producers number and not their own number. They did with YRF’s Sultan earlier and now with Thugs. They are just reporting producer’s number now like Taran and not giving out their data.

      • I hope not. Thankfully he is not producer so some hope there. The known fudgers are Roshan, RCE, YRF (probably) and BOI (probably). The last 2 might not be unless every single damn distributor or trade is lying on Twitter as being posted by Master. I’d rather believe them as it makes sense that the ‘many’ are less likely to lie than the big YRF and some Tom, Dick and Harry whom we’ve never met in our lives running BOI.

I just think it’s disingenuous of some to come out now on TOH but indirectly defend RCE as they ‘had’ to retaliate to Filmkraft – copout. If you want to judge, judge everyone. Don’t defend one and attack another. Very opportunistic.

Rest all are pretty minor to call it huge manipulation counting Raees, Fan, Dilwale. No one is going to spend discussing few % difference between real collections and BOI or production figures. It hardly matters. Only if there is huge gap, folks come out as they did during Krrish 3 and now.

Perhaps I have grown up in the 70s full of masala that never made sense but was full of iconic moments. And ppl born in the 80s and later may not be invested in it. So that might explain the backlash. But I dont think this movie tanks that easily.

  73. Once again, I seriously cannot understand the backlash here. It can be explained only if one is not at all invested in Bwood masala. But literally everything from India contains dollops of incredulity and cinematic liberty. This has some awesome sets, outstanding BGM, and a majestic BigB perhaps in an action avatar for the last time in his life. And fight he did for this, in every scene. Its a treat for us original BigB fans. All that decades old physicality omni-present throughout the movie. There are also a few good scenes betn Aamir-BigB with the seeti-dialogs stitched in.
All the twists in the last hour are par for masala. And I do not know where the hell audience got bored. As for predictability, sure, one knows that the last event before interval is not for real. But the re-appearance in shackles was once again vintage BigB.
Anyhow, lets see where this ends up; but I dont think it tanks from here. If crap like TZH can get past 300, this one surely should.

NyKavi – did you find the pre Manzoor E Khuda lullaby song a complete stupid moment? So stupid that you wonder wtf is this doing here? The re-appearance of Big B I am very 50/50 on. I found it narratively stupid but his honesty deserved to be part of the end and climax. There are some baffling twists by Firangi here too like the non shooting of Clive which seems quite silly. In fact Firangi starts to annoy as he changes sides every so often and this displays a kind of Andaz Apna Apna vibe to me which doesn’t belong in the film.

I also have to state when everyone was displaying film length times UK, US, India and UAE were all different? I wonder if some of us are even watching cut versions here. As if I edit some of the worst portions out I would very easily like this film more (I could think of 10-15 mins and it would be a big difference IMO).

      Liked by 1 person

      • So, it was obvious that he would re-appear, just not when it would be. That thought was always in the back of the mind, searching when he comes back in the narrative.
And so, when I was getting ready to prepare myself for some Kat sizzle with Manzoor-e; and then all of a sudden, here he appears all shackled, to totally change the emotions behind the song. In fact for me, that Manzoor-e-Khuda moment is the epoch, and rising crescendo.
You know, the firangi-hatred so successfully harvested by directors in the past has in fact been harvested again to a good degree here. Which is why I dont see how the masses reject this outright. But then, maybe its just me??

        Liked by 1 person

        • Was it obvious? He’s handed over the wrist jewellery to Firangi (quite symbolic to say adiós I’m about to die) to safeguard Zafira so it feels like the second half would be entirely a crusade mission rather than an angle where he re-appears…if your last paragraph is a comment in relation to older masala tropes I’ll be lost. Firangi is perfect in 1st half, afterwards I feel once Bachchan is killed, Firangi’s side shifting ways would stop as his own conscious becomes clearer. In essence he matures into the Azaad circle without being a joker anymore.

Anyway I am an 80’s born and never watched these 70’s films or 80’s for that matter. So I might be missing something here.

      Rajesh Thadani, Mumbai
Yesterday, Thugs Of Hindostan collected Rs 15-16 crore in my circuit. Today, there will be a 30-40 per cent drop. Occupancy is very low today and even advance booking doesn’t seem good. Pan-India, the film will earn around Rs 20-22 crore, including Rs 7-8 crore in my circuit.

    • Ha good point. BOI had producer numbers before producers. And their estimates came out magically to producers. LOL! Hilarious.

And let’s say the numbers are 50Cr (hypothetically). These same distributors were predicting 30-45Cr opening no less than 2 days ago. They know very little. In fact Golmaal Returns on little advance shot up to 30Cr+ on 3000 screens last year! So 50Cr on 5000 screens is simple maths. With no choice, no Secret Superstar equivalent – high ticket prices and biggest film ever 50Cr is possible.

But I’m always open to fraudsters. If the accusers come with basic numbers that are irrefutable rather than distributors who are pretty weak with their own commentary and personal vendettas we can have some healthy discussions. 79. Here is some basic maths to work with (for those qualified with basic maths skills) without looking at any distributors comments.

    If capacity is 70Cr which I believe is possible;
Day 1 occupancy average of 75%=52.5Cr
Day 2 occupancy average of 45%=31.5Cr

Achieving these occupancies is not difficult. Addatoday had these as Thu and Fri averages already.

Even at 65Cr capacity, the hurdle of 5-10% here or the discrepancy ‘fraudster’ style reporting the YRF/BOI numbers are possible.

Day 1 65*75%*1.1(10% get out of jail free card courtesy Indian law)= 51Cr
    Day 2 65*45%*1.1(10% get out jail free card #2) = 32Cr

Let’s see the distributors math now!

These distributors are giving comments at noon as pointed out by munna. Let them give evening %’s and calculate for whole day based on that and TOH will be blockbuster!

Even 30cr is no big deal for this holiday period. The real test will be on Monday and the question is if it can even beat Dhoom 3.
And my only point was perhaps you should consider that the reason people are bashing it so much is that perhaps they genuinely didn’t like it and it’s not just negativity for the sake of it. Even Dhoom 3 (like I said) had some 3-3.5 star reviews. For me, this is the worst Aamir Khan film since Mangal Pandey and he (or his role) was the only saving grace of ToH for me.
Anyway, glad you liked it. We’ll both be around when the run ends, let’s see whether it’s closer to Dangal or under 300.

Yrf can say bye bye to Dhoom franchise and may latch on to take this further (its way better than the first Dhoom). There is potential for a great film in the sequel as this one is not perfect. Acharya’s life is made, and its good to see his improvement (quite big one compared to D3 thrash).

What a load of tosh this is. No character development, no seriousness, total bhaandgiri…and too much BLOODY SLOW MOTION.

In other words, a typical YR production…made by a director high on opium laced ladoos…the same ones that show up in the film as well.

Yes, it goes bang-bang in the last half hour but that’s not enough to negate its build up.

ToH is a pale shadow of yesteryear’s masala. It doesn’t even get its priorities right. Too much of a sloppy melodrama cum Hollywood khichdi.

Not trying to insult your choice or anything but there were moments when I was laughing uncontrollably — at the film’s stupidity. Most of it was reserved for the songs, which are probably the worst I’ve seen in any big budget movie.

Your own mileage may vary. If people have loved films like OSO or HNY, they won’t have any problem with ToH. They might even prefer the latter. For me, that is a very low bar — and I don’t expect Aamir to stoop down to that level. Which partially explains my disappointment with this film.

Many of the folks ended up writing huge reviews how good the movie is but eventually it tanked. Thugs appears on the similar line.. many good reviews on the blog but not in real world. Obviously as its in Aamir’s superstardom phase, it’ll collect more and 200 to 250 crores but that can still be called a failure if its lower end of 200.

  93. Comparing ToH to Ghajini, which I happen to love, makes some of my objections more clear.

Ghajini has a solid emotional core. The tragic nature of the story is quite affecting and the action/revenge sequences hinge on its overall effectiveness. There is some humour to be found but it’s not overbearing — the film, for the most part, remains an affecting revenge drama. The original Tamil version had some cartoonish sequences just after some of the violent scenes and those were removed from the Hindi version. I think that was the right decision because the tone of the film remains consistent. It does not veer from one domain to another.

ToH does suffer from inconsistency in its tone — it starts off as a revenge drama, suddenly goes into slapstick mode, goes back to being serious and keeps flipping back and forth. There are songs that make very little sense — call them time-fillers, a nod to old masala tropes of yore, but they are badly placed. They slacken the pace and also divert attention from the central conflict. It doesn’t help either that the song themselves are not easy to listen to.

These are all poor directorial choices. I mean pirates, ships, revenge, love and a fight for independence — how can this combination go wrong? By mixing and matching elements that don’t go together; by deliberately sticking to some kind of a formula that is past its expiry date, and perhaps, a little bit of hubris — Dhoom 3 was, after all, the highest grossing film of its time.

I can say with certainty that ToH would not be mauled so much if it had someone else in the lead apart from Aamir. It’s precisely because it’s Aamir that some people are disappointed. But I do not rule out some kind of foul play here. I looked at the hashtag about fake collections from YRF and most of the tweets were from SRK fans. This isn’t even debatable.

Saket, I disagree here on aamir’s part. He has done wonderfully well as Firangi. The problem is the director, and good that u bring in Ghajini here. Forget Rajamouli, even ARM would have directed TOH with the same screenplay much better ( I think u need to see his Ajith-starrer 7 OM ARIVU – What a crisp direction! he does not allow you to even blink and the story moves at breakneck speed with rich visuals, songs, fights….) – this is where TOH has failed. It is squarely a director’s failure and if aamir has to be blamed – he should not have backed VKA as but it would be impolite i guess….in the same way as he is not able to say no to John Mathew for S sequel and yet not able to accept his script also…..well.

    • Best review here and most if not all your comments Saket. I will respect those who like it but I think you’ve nailed it. It’s a confusing mess overall. I’ve made references to Mela and Andaz Apna Apna – you’ve mentioned slap-stick now too and the miss fire in tone. I just can’t write the review like you or Tony Montana. There are many flaws here, too many overall. It surely entertains at certain points but the sum of parts don’t add up to an actual movie that makes any sense. This is like all of Aamir’s best films transported into the 18th century but it’s a whole level of ‘f’ up. I will flatly blame VKA as even I could have got this right. He is utterly ridiculous director.

I see Mela, Andaz Apna Apna with the chaos, Lagaan with the fight against the British, Aamir is a mix of Munna, DJ, his Ishq character, Akash (smugness) and loads of other reboots.

It’s an utter mess overall. Any Aamir film since mid 90’s makes more ‘sense’.

On paper VKA had 2 golden eggs and blew them both up!

Coolguy, yes this is opportunistic time for some. Let them take it, we’ve had plenty of times on this journey. People have short term memory loss.

And welcome to all the new arrivals too!

    • Suraiya was totally seeti-maar due to Kat. And Aamir’s clowning notwithstanding, it delivered.
Manzoor-e-Khuda was apt for where it fit in.
Perhaps, an IMAX experience with the visuals and amazing sound is what differentiates the impact of this song.
Vashmalle was not required, especially bcoz they made BigB dance very awkwardly. I was wary of it during the trailor launch itself.

As for plot twists, loopholes etc, I did not go in expecting this to be a masterpiece. It is fictionalized history to begin with. There are enough glaring loopholes in BB itself, but it worked on the strength of its vfx, and convincing characters. But one had to be invested in Hindu mythology for it to work, and surely it failed outside that target audience, eg in China. Kranti if made today will face the same issues of illogical plot. But if one were to expect some major treatise out of fictionalised historical masala, I wonder how they couldve enjoyed 99% of similar Bwood offerings.

Here the action setpieces were the highlights. Lots of grandstanding, and reliance on Amitabh’s physicality. Aamir in fact does not match up in the action. His role is alright, nothing great, and with his rapidfire awadhi, may not have been clearly understood. And perhaps that what dissapointed many. Also, perhaps the emotional investment in Dangal may make many cringe at the scenes where he tried to flirt with Fatima Sheikh.
Perhaps ppl going in expected a Lagaan with Dangal combo. But those were totally diff movies.
After my expectations having been softened due to the initial reviews, it actually worked in the cinema.
I too didnt understand the big deal about Sanju, or TZH but they delivered in the past year. So thats the yardstick I apply to TOH. But since it was overhyped, and tickets priced extravagantly, for sure the First Day audiences wud be dissapointed after having paid higher ticket rates, and kinda felt cheated, resulting in this backlash.

      • Suraiyya is a good song IMO. In fact Katrina dances this song impeccably. The song seems to be out of the 60’s. Aamir is in Blackadder avatar and doesn’t suit it as much. But Katrina is gorgeous here. Some of the moves are impossible. She works hard in this song for sure.

OK, its NOT the next Baahubali2 or Dangal, i get it.
But this is what i also told Jayshah, who gave the best case and worst case scenario prediciton but ryles out a middle path which is where HIT movies land. I had then asked what if the movie is more like 2.5/5 and manages hit collection?
For me, i have liked such movies (usually time of india review of 3 and above is good for me). So ToH will be good for me.

See every movie is made for a reason. It’s not like the ToH team incl Aamir and BigB were not aware of the script and they would not have worked to make it better to its target audience.
It’s just that it is made for audiences like me. If we like these movies we will take it to a HIT mark. Just that they spent more as even with lesser scale the movie might have been same.

I am now certain i will like it. So will watch and share my reviews.

  98. Well as an Aamir fan it feels bad, the man has acumen for good scripts and it’s difficult to believe that he went ahead with the so called masala script of 70s and 80s . The success of Dhoom 3 might have played a big role here, but he gave two good films after that. It seems these big stars live in their cocoon and until unless the film’s collection aren’t bad , the criticisms don’t reach to their ears. Have seen umpteen number of interviews where Aamir dissects his past movies especially of the early 90’s Man, Mela etc. , but doesn’t utter a word on Mangal Pandey or Dhoom 3. Saying that he choose to do the film solely on the basis of his character in the film is again a farce. From hundreds of films if you are choosing a single there must be some very good reason then this.

I have never missed an Aamir film in theatre since Lagaan( with the exception of Dobhi Ghat) , but this one I may miss as the reviews from the general parlance are extremely negative. A few positive reviews from Aamir fans don’t mean much ! Just look at the BMS film has a pathetic rating of 59 % , which is below tubelight and Race 3. It seems in the garb of making a visual spectacle the makers have ignored everything else.
As far as box office figures are concerned yes it seems the numbers are fabricated. The single screens might be doing very good but can’t ignore that the major chunk of business is still from multiplexes and given the figures of some of the big cities there has been manipulation of numbers .
This is not a HNY/ Dilwale type of deal , the film WOM is near to the level of Race3/ JHMS . This film will tank big time after the weekend , even a single digit figure on Monday can’t be ruled out.
