Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga took a dull opening of 5-7.5% which is pretty much on the expected lines. The film is named after a HIT song from a flop film 1942 – A Love Story. The film is very niche and basically been made due to the recovery from digital which is 20 crore so ensures the film wont be a big financial burden on the makers but the audience is a different kettle of fish and they will not be easily pleased.
The theme of the film will have very few takers with only some section of the metro audience coming for the film. The film has no face value or stars so that is a plus as a film like this with stars could be asking for big trouble.
The banner Vinod Chopra Films and Anil Kapoor combination sent the 90’s audience to sleep with two duds like Parinda (1989) and 1942 – A Love Story (1994) and it remains to be seen if results are any different in 2019.
There will be a three way fight at the box office to be the top film with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Manikarnika and Uri – The Surgical Strike. Manikarnika had a negative response from the audience generally at a ground level though the business held up post Monday but the Delhi / UP collections cracked on the eighth day which will mean a drop in collections as that was the best circuit.
Uri – The Surgical Strike is super strong on its fourth Friday and will give the new release and Manikarnika a good fight and could turn out to be the top film.
The second half, while still a bit predictable, engages in a sensitive and beautiful portrayal of a girl feeling trapped by her own emotions. The story’s track of a father coming to terms with the sexuality and the suppressed emotions of his daughter is touching. Though a bit theatrical, ‘ELKDTAL’ puts forth a progressive and important conversation around personal feelings and the true liberating nature of love. All of this plays out, in the most fun and entertaining fashion, which in a way is the strength of the movie, too.
The bulk of the entertainment comes through the performances by Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao. Sonam K Ahuja plays the central role and while she does manage to bring in the required vulnerability to her character, she doesn’t always convince you of Sweety’s emotional conflict. But, some staggering performances by Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao add a veritable punch to the proceedings. The adorable romantic comedy between Kapoor and Chawla is a sure-shot winner, too. Supporting performances by Madhumalti Kapoor, Abhishek Duhan, Regina, Seema Pahwa and Brijendra Kala are all top notch.
Writer-director Shelly Chopra Dhar and co-writer Gazal Dhaliwal (who previously wrote Irrfan’s ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’) manage to spark off some pretty interesting ideas of love. Yes, their film deals with sexuality and seeking acceptance from the older and more-conservative family members, but at the core, ‘ELKDTAL’ talks about love being a universal feeling, one that cannot be shackled by societal norms and diktats. The writing isn’t all top-grade, but this film has its heart in the right place and sometimes that’s all that really matters.

Uri – The Surgical Strike To Cross 200 crore

Uri – The Surgical Strike is heading for business over 200 crore nett as it hardly sees a fall on the fourth Friday with business in the 3 crore nett range as per early estimates. The film will be the first small – medium film to cross the 200 crore nett mark but more than it has also crossed the footfalls of Tanu Weds Manu Returns on the fourth Friday to become the biggest small – medium blockbuster of recent times.
The 200 crore nett figure will probably be achieved by many small – medium films in the future but Uri – The Surgical Strike has hit 1.5 crore in terms of footfalls with more to come and this will be huge task in the future. The film is probably among the biggest small – medium films in the history of Hindi cinema with the 1975 mythological historic blockbuster Jai Santoshi Maa (1975) leading the way.
The weak competition from the new releases means that Uri – The Surgical Strike will be the top film at the box office this weekend.
‘Manikarnika’ Producer Kamal Jain slams director Krish for attacking Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut starrer period drama ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ has opened to good reviews and has managed to impress the audience with Kangana’s portrayal of the warrior queen. However, the controversies surrounding the film ever since the project went on the floors doesn’t seem to die out. Co-directed by Kangana and Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish), the film hit the theaters on January 25. Krish had expressed displeasure at Kangana’s name appearing ahead of his in the film’s credits.
The director had also accused the actress of blatantly reducing the length of her co-stars’ parts. He revealed that Kangana wanted everything to herself and took over the reins. Krish also challenged Kangana’s sister Rangoli’s claim that 70% of the film is Kangana’s hard work.
Speaking on the controversies surrounding the film, producer Kamal Jain slammed Krish and said it is very sad how Krish is trying to claim credit for what he doesn’t deserve. Jain said it was his and studio’s collective decision to give credits the way they are. Kangana stood by the film from beginning to end and whatever she did could have not done without production and creative team’s consent.
Jain also argued that why doesn’t Krish go legal way if he is speaking the truth and prove his claims. He accuses him of making it a media trial after huge critical claim and box office success of the film.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga collected 2.75-3 crore nett at the box office on the first day which is a low collection. The film had nothing really going for it so its actually not too bad of a number. The cast was not there and the music had not worked also. Even the story from the trailer looks weak and not relatable.
The film only has chances at selct multiplexes of the five metros and because of that there should be growth on Saturday and it could even be big growth as the multiplexes where this film can do better are the ones which see best growth on Saturday. But the key is that can Sunday grow well and what happens Monday. The film grossed around 85 and 75 lakh in Mumbai and Delhi / UP respectively and these were the main main markets.

Over the past year, we have seen numerous foreign films being adapted to fit Bollywood sensibilities. Now we hear that Shailesh R Singh, the man behind films like Tanu Weds Manu, Aligarh, Simran and others has acquired the rights of the French film Nuit Blanche that will be adapted to a Bollywood feature film. If that wasn’t all we also hear that Singh has approached by none other than Abhishek Bachchan to essay the lead role in the film.
Commenting on the same, a source close to the developments says, “Yes, Shailesh Singh has acquired the right of Nuit Blanche. The film is a thriller about a cop who gets caught. It is a fast paced action thriller and is a perfect fit for a Bollywood actioner.” Further talking about the casting of the film the source adds, “As of now Abhishek Bachchan has been approached for the lead role, as he is perfect for the role.”
As for the film, Nuit Blanche or Sleepless Night follows the story of a detective who steals from a drug lord only to be told that he is supposed to return the stolen merchandise or his son’s life is in jeopardy. In 2017, the film was remade in English by Swiss director Baran bo Odar starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan. If that wasn’t all, Nuit Blanche which hit screens in 2011 was remade in Tamil and Telugu in 2015 as Thoongaa Vanam (Sleepless Jungle). Directed by Rajesh M. Selva starring Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj, Trisha Krishnan, Kishore, Sampath Raj, Yugi Sethu, Asha Sarath and Madhu Shalini, the film was dubbed in Hindi as Khakee: The Real Police.

“He was the first one they approached after SRK exited the project. But even Akshay refused it on the word go. He didn’t even take a narration. He didn’t want to hold the producers up and waste their time. He told them up front he can’t accommodate that film. They want to go on floors as soon as possible and Akki has already blocked his dates for as many as seven projects in the coming one and half years. Plus, he is already part of R Balki’s Mission Mangal and didn’t want to crowd his filmography with another space film just as yet,” a source revealed.
Right now, the musical chairs are on between Vicky Kaushal, Rajkumar Rao, and Sushant Singh Rajput. It needs to be seen who finally plays the cosmonaut in the film.

Watched Kaabil. Inspite of all the ridicule it received.
Even I was hesitating but atlast watched it on Netflix. The suspense was well maintained. I will not talk about the actors but about the thriller aspect of it.
First it was difficult to believe baby faced Rohit Roy as villain but then he justified his role.
Felt how helpless sightlessness makes people. That is the reality. The revenge is a fairy story to satisfy the audience. Why to open the cards to the police? It is foolishness. They could have easily finished him with Shelar’s help.
Mom and Kaabil both deal with rape and revenge. If you dont hate Hritik, you can watch it. I dont hate any actors but just watch a movie and enjoy it.
Decided not to read reviews but just try to watch a movie and decide for myself.
I feel critics are sadists and they try to justify their writings and pose as intellectuals. And most of them are negative people posing as critics.
Both Raees and Kaabil were interesting movies. So what if they were not blockbusters?

films having rape-n-revenge as the theme have been failing miserably since many years……unless u r Rohit Shetty who can nicely mix that subject in super-masala like Simbaa….audiences have avoided paying for these films for a long time….
Kaabil did not fail and it was quite an appreciated movie overall. I liked Hritik’s stunts which were believable.
The Roy brothers along with Jha and Girish Kulkarni were good as antagonists.
The music was not memorable. Is Rajesh Roshan losing the touch?
Hritik did a good job without going overboard.
They took efforts to make the blindness of the leads to be believable. Yami was too sweet and too smiling. And in the beginning, Hritik also did not impress much. Only after the tragedy, he came alive as an actor.
There are many glitches but overall the film worked for me.
There are so many blind or partially blind people around. Why not give them a chance to play those roles instead? It would have given more authenticity.
Without competition, it could have done better.

I do not know if you all together argued against Kangana just for the sake of it because quite clearly you were taking side without understanding that Krish left the project midway after working like a dog. Now he is feeling bad because producers gave credit to Kangana and then to Krish.
Quite a bizarre arguments were presented which mostly were around Human Rights violations. I think by quiting the project, Krish showed the highest degree of unprofessionalism.
In the case of 2.0, Shankar stuck with the project for 2 more years. Imagine he lost out on another blockbuster but he stuck with the producers. never left him.
But here Krish does the opposite and now the MCP is looking for last minute mileage. Few others like Miss Chakrabarty got free PR.
Overall Kangana seems to have won the war for her high dregree of being with the project, working for the betterment and seeing it thru.
Worked like a dog – it means worked really heard and faithfully till he was in the project.
I am just specifying this commonly used idioms, so that this doesn’t get picked and the topic gets diluted. It usually happens here. JHayshah knows it very well. 😀

Uri – The Surgical Strike continues its insane run as it breaks records by margins. The fourth Saturday will go to 6 crore nett plus which easily smashes each outright Hindi film out of sight as 3 Idiots was around 3.90 crore on its fourth Saturday. So a non Bahubali – The Conclusion record is there for the fourth Saturday.
But Bahubali – The Conclusion grossed 6.20 crore nett on its fourth Saturday and Uri – The Surgical Strike could actually beat it when final collections come in the morning. The importance of this is that Bahubali – the Conclusion holds all daily records from the first Monday till the fifth Thursday. This is 32 days in a row where it has daily all time records. Now there is a chance this record run may be broken by Uri – The Surgical Strike.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has faced the expected rejection at the box office. The film will grow around 40% to 4 crore nett but today this is nothing for a film opening to such low numbers. These subjects on gays and lesbians are not relatable but more on that on another day.
As mentioned earlier in a column here that the combo of Vinod Chopra Films and Anil Kapoor gave the 90’s audience insomnia with Parinda (1989) and 1942 – A Love Story (1994) and things have not changed a couple of decades later. It takes really great minds to make a film on a subject that should be scrapped on paper but sadly many of these great minds actually do exist in the Hindi film industry and the other industries across India will be praying that these great minds stay put.
Boi is so cold to Manikarnika and so hot for Uri.
It could have given Manikarnika updates also along with Uri and ELKDTAL.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has remained poor at the box office. There was 40% growth on Saturday which can be regarded good for some films but for this film which did not open and the bulk of the business coming from multiplexes which have the best growth on Saturday it is a bad result. The collections on Saturday were 4 crore nett giving it a two day total of 6.75 crore nett. The subject matter of the film has been rejected outright which is no surprise. The collections of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga till date are as follows.
Friday – 2,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday – 4,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 6,75,00,000 apprx
Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi showed very good growth of 75% on its second Saturday as it collected 4.75 crore nett. This has taken the total of the film to 64 crore nett and it has a chance to be at 70 crore nett after ten days. The collections of Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi till date are as follows
Finally, after the Sat collections, BOI has toned down its negative rhetoric on Manikarnika.
It was quite clear that they were against Kangana and kept re-inforcing their biased commentary. Now they are being forced to eat crow !

So true! People expected it to fold under 70Cr. But it’s first week was pretty decent and weekdays trending good so it was a pragmatic approach to wait for 2nd weekend at minimum and now even the third weekend. It could still reach 100Cr with all regional collections using Taran’s numbers and it is contending with URI which itself is pretty historic with it’s run.
‘But on the second Friday it had to drop 5-10% from the Thursday and there was a good chance due to the weak competition but it was not to be and the film dropped much more. The film has a total of a little under 60 crore nett in eight days and is now looking to emerge an AVERAGE fare at best if it holds over the next 10-15 days or so.’
From BOI on Friday’s collections. That’s a ridiculous standard to set! It’s done AVERAGE to them but the commentary has been like that of a flop film. They’ve predicted expected drop in collections throughout entire first week weekdays but it was the 2nd Fri where it dropped and practically EVERY film drops on Fri by a number of factors! And if it’s flop trending 2nd Saturday wouldn’t increase this much. It’s basically AVERAGE. Neither flop or hit.
Maybe considering the reviews it has underperformed a little but I suspect URI has something to do with that.
The problem is that from BOI’s own numbers, it still does not look like going past 80cr. And it needs to much more than that. According to a post from BOI earlier, the regional versions have also not fared too well as per the economics.
It has trended alright at lower levels. But this was also predicted in the last BO thread as there were 80cr lifetime predictions here.
I do think for a film that does around 80cr business from reported production costs of 125cr, then BOI are in fact quite kind to call it average. It is as leniently average BO-wise as Ra1 was a hit for them.
On the other hand, the comments by BOI on ELKAL were really in bad taste. Agreed the film is a flop, but there was no need to once again use it to attack the banner, the actors and the director of Parinda and 1942 A Love Story.
Uri – The Surgical Strike is setting the box office ablaze as it collected 6.25 crore nett on its fourth Saturday which is an ALL TIME RECORD as it edged past Bahubali – The Conclusion which grossed 6.20 crore nett. It is not a record in GROSS numbers but just to be around Bahubali – The Conclusion is a big achievement. The highest outright Hindi film is 3 idiots at 3.90 crore nett and Uri – The Surgical Strike is 60% better than that. When any Bahubali – The Conclusion record is broken it means the film has done something special.
The film is breaking records now of all outright Hindi films and is unstoppable at the box office. the film has topped 180 crore nett and the 200 crore nett mark will probably be hit next weekend and even then the film will have some legs. The growth on Saturday was a huge 90% with South India giving huge performance and with more prints than week one in some South circuits.

I only follow and believe BOI numbers. But this time don’t know why but I think they are just edging past Uri to Bahubali. I mean 6.25 cr and 6.20 cr. No disrespectful for uri. It is superb trading.
The asterisk is always important. BB2 was pre GST changes so ideally gross is key. But URI being a much smaller film than any film close to 200Cr mark justifiably puts it in another league GST changes or not. There is no reason to believe even under old GST rates this one could have chased 250Cr! A strong trending film has to be given the benefit of the doubt whatever price of ticket as demand will always be there.
Our sources have confirmed that the movie is going to be a biopic and that Karan Johar will be backing the project with Dharma Productions. The project is most likely to go on floors in August 2019 and the final details are yet to come. All we know for now is that Sara is going to be the lead actress in this upcoming biopic. Sara has already given two hits in just the beginning of her career and now with the rate at which she is speeding up, it won’t be long till we see her name in the top 5 most talented actresses of Bollywood.
I watched it on hotstar. It is a collection of three real life incidents with a 360 degree perspective. I only liked the first and second narrations. Agree with Idea’s statement that slowly the socialist in Aamir is takimg over the entertainer in him

I think aamir khan is a laid-back guy now – not really in the race to do many films. And too much of these tear-jerkers have taken a toll on him. Hope he does atleast 2-3 more commercial films before he also starts getting rejected by audience like SRK…..fingers crossed….what goes up has to come down….

Aamir has repeatedly said that he is an entertainer. He makes films to provide entertainment. The social activist is different. He has said, more than once, that he spends half the year on films and half on his social work. On screen he attempts to entertain and succeeds. Even his tv ads are mini stories, funny, wacky, fun. Aamir was absolutely hilarious and entertaining in TOH. And he was rejected by many, other than a bunch of loyal fans who have understood what he was trying to do. His very first Firangi look saw the knives coming out. He wasn’t even given a chance. Aamir as Firangi Mallah, Katrina as the saucy Suraiya — their chemistry …👌 Also loved the wacky Sanichar, the interaction between these three. They entertained. The rest of the film was uneven, dumb, barely held together. Amitabh was impressive, but surely he has done better films and roles.
Roobaru Roshni is something that is the brainchild of its writer director Svati Chakraborty Bhatkal. Aamir has produced it. Yes, it is a docu drama. Loved the first story, yet to watch the second story fully, third one too. Will do do today, maybe.
Aamir is not going down. He is as always making films at his own pace. And he was never in the race. His next film should be announced soon,in a month. He has said that he is going through four scripts.

The original cost was escalated due to reshoots and delays.
As Rahul said Boi is not that unkind to it compared to its reaction Anil Kapoor’s film. European cinema? Lesbians’ story is unimportant and not worth watching? Anil Kapoor’s filmography is forgotten. He was part of a film(only known face for Indians in that film) which won Oscars. He also won national award for Pukaar. And he acted in many masala movies. He retains his look and still can carry a loverboy role without raising eyebows. Parinda is an iconic film. Beta was pure masala.
They spent 35 crores on re-shooting I believe. Period movies have huge budget and there’s no way around it unless you want it to look fake. Irrespective of trend the movie was made to at least make 200 crores for it to be clear hit. Even limping if it does 90-95 crores, its not. successful movie IMO.
The rehearsals began at 7 am and ended at around 2 am. While trying to perfect his moves, he ended up doing the particular knee-drop step for over 15 times and landed with severe leg cramps and a busted knee. The actor has been advised to lay low and rest for speedy recovery. He is going to continue to shoot but will try his best not to damage his knee further. Varun was supposed to shoot with three different dance crews on that day, V Unbeatable, Urban Crew, and N House Crew.
The team is gearing up for their London schedule which commences on February 8. Not only Varun, but Shraddha is also learning 5 different dance forms for the movie. Let’s just all take a bow for Varun for being thoroughly professional and also, we wish him a speedy recovery!
Earlier to this, there was a news of her being approached for Baaghi 3 alongside Tiger Shroff but seems Sara wasn’t too interested either. Though Sara was appreciated for her role in Simbaa but her screen time was questioned. Looks like the actress doesn’t want to bare the brunt of Simbaa anymore hence she walked out of Baaghi 3. Sara was even offered Coolie No. 1 remake alongside Varun Dhawan but the actress wasn’t sure either hence didn’t pay heed to the offer.
Seems like, Sara is scared of being overshadowed with her male costars.

Uri – The Surgical Strike had a historic fourth weekend as it recorded fourth weekend figures of 18.25 crore nett. This is only second to Bahubali – The Conclusion and has beaten every outright Hindi film be it Dangal, PK, Sanju or Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The 2009 film 3 Idiots had the highest fourth weekend at a little over 9.50 crore nett.
Not only has Uri – The Surgical Strike beaten the fourth weekend numbers of the above films it has beaten the fourth week numbers of all those films in the weekend itself. 3 idiots collected a little under 16 crore nett in week four which is the best fourth week figure.
The film now has a running total of 189 crore nett and it will cruise past the 200 crore nett mark next weekend and if it continues at this trend then even 225 crore nett cannot be ruled out.
Currently, a film takes between 18 and 24 months from script to screen, and a large part of this, almost six months, goes into pre-production.
A chunk of pre-production constitutes getting various permissions from different authorities to allow on location shooting.
With the introduction of the single window clearance provision, pre-production windows are expected to reduce significantly.
Not only will it have an impact on the operational cost of the film, it will also allow studios to release films faster, keeping the script fresh in case of topical themes.
“Goyal has provided a tremendous fillip to the Indian entertainment industry with the provision of single window clearance for films in the Union Budget 2019,” says Sudhanshu Vats, group CEO and MD, Viacom18. “Such policy provisions that seek to enhance ease of doing business will help the Rs 15,600 crore industry grow faster.”

Uri – The Surgical Strike continues to break all records on Monday with collections higher than any other film on its fourth Monday outside Bahubali – The Conclusion. The final fourth weekend collections were an ALL TIME RECORD just edging past Bahubali – The Conclusion. The film has collected 2.75 crore nett on its fourth Monday and is now has a total of 192 crore.
The film is very steady and it could be that it reaches the 200 crore mark at the end of the week. There is plenty of gas left it in the tank it could be a finish that is around the 225 crore nett mark. The film has put up phenomenal numbers in South. If we take the all South Indian circuits then it will do business double of Simmba there or at least very close to double. Simmba did 19 crore nett in Nizam / Andhra, Mysore and Tamil Nadu / Kerala and this will do 35 crore nett on a worse scenario.
The film is also chasing the fourth week record of Bahubali – The Conclusion which was a little over 29 crore nett. More than 200 crore nett this would be the achievement.. The collections of Uri – The Surgical Strike are as follows.

Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi (Hindi) remained steady on its second Monday with 2 crore nett. The drop is around 30% from Friday and its second week total in four days is a decent 15.75 crore nett. it will comfortably cross 20 crore nett in week two and probably even 21 crore nett.
The final number will be a good one for a female driven film beating all the films barring Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Raazi leaving with Kangana Ranaut with two out of the top three. The only difference is that no other female driven film has gone over 50 crore in terms of costs while this one is way over.
The problem becomes even if you go over in terms of costs the initial is still difficult unless backed by a combination of action and music and for a female driven film this probably has to be thought out cleverly and cant be done in the regular way like for the hero driven actioners. Manikarnika despite the bigger canvas could not push the initial much higher than other female driven films. The collections of Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi till date are as follows

Though Boi was negative about Manikarnika in the beginning, suddenly they changed their narrative which they will never do for other films and other actors. What happened? Strange!
Kangana Ranaut’s recent release Manikarnika has been into lots of controversies.
We all witnessed an ugly feud between Kangana and the Manikarnika director Krish. The actress has now targeted Bollywood beauties like Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone for being insecure.
Talking about how people send her their trailers to see and praise on social media, Kangana Ranaut said, “These girls send me their trailers like Alia (Bhatt) sent me the trailer of Raazi and said, ‘Please watch it’. For me, it was not a Karan Johar film or Alia film, for me, it was a film on Sehmat Khan, the girl who has given her everything to the country.”
Kangana further added that she spoke with Alia Bhatt and Meghna Gulzar for half-an-hour during Raazi, but, when the time came for her film to be promoted on social media, she didn’t receive the same favours.
Talking about how she never feels threatened by anyone around, the actress said that she praised Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and almost everyone in the industry.
She added that she even went to Deepika Padukone’s ‘Piku’ screening. She reminded us how she saw Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘Lootera’ and for an entire year kept on praising it.
The Queen star also said that she went all the way to the Ambanis’ house to talk to Aamir Khan about doing Dangal, but ‘they don’t come for my trials’. She said that she doesn’t expect any of them to write about her ‘two-three films’ that are coming up.
On the work front, Kangana will be next seen opposite Rajkummar Rao in the film Mental Hai Kya and then in director Ashwini Iyer Tiwary’s next.

A source adds that Prabhudheva recently narrated the basic premise of Dabangg 3 to the actor who liked what he heard and gave his verbal nod to the film. He will sign the project on the dotted line soon.
“Sudeep and Salman have been planning to team up on a film for a long time and things have finally fallen in place. The two will engage in Tom and Jerry kind of skirmishes in Dabangg 3. Sudeep’s character has shades of grey,” a well-placed source reveals.
Dabangg 3, which is being directed by actor-choreographer-filmmaker Prabhudeva, is set to start rolling in the month of April. If the source is to be believed, the film will be wrapped up within 90-100 days. There are also reports that Salman is planning to release the cop-drama around the festivities of Christmas later this year.

These are two different statements.
And not all Khans are alike. Aamir will not do 3 films in a year because he takes his own time to do each film in a specifice manner.
Only Salman can do 3 films in a year if he wants.
Srk would have done atleast 2 films per year if his films were great successes and if he does not mind small setups.
Akshay is successful in doing too many films at a stretch while Anil Kapoor is not successful attempting the same 3 to 4 films per year. For Bachchan success or failure does not matter and he just wants to do as many films as possible.
Talks have been rife about the possibility of Andaz Apna Apna remake with Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan. Now, Aamir Khan has spoken about it which makes us pretty hopeful about this film which has not been announced officially. When asked about the possibility of seeing Ranveer and Varun together reprising the roles of him and Salman, Aamir said that it would be great for young actors to be featured in a classic comedy like this. He later added that he is not sure whether the project is being made or not but if it is, then it is definitely a great news and he would love to see both Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan in the film.

It has not been a good week for the Tv industry. As in the very beginning we lost two of the actors par excellence. After Ramesh Bhatkar, the news of veteran actor Syed Badr-ul Hasan aka Pappu Polyester has come in. The actor who played many prolific roles all through out his career, breathed his last in Lucknow yesterday. Much is still not known about the cause of his demise.
He was an acclaimed actor and was known for his roles in TV show The Sword of Tipu Sultan and movies like Darmiyaan: In Between (1997), Ittefaq (2001) and Dhund: The Fog (2003). He was not a common man but had the lineage of Nawabs of Awadh. He was the descendant of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the tenth Nawab of Awadh.
He worked in the industry for an enormous period of 25 years and even won a National Award for his performance as Maharaja of Mysore in the 1990 television series The Sword of Tipu Sultan. Apart from being an actor, he was a classical dancer too and had won an award for best classical dance by Birju Maharaj himself.
He was fluent in not one or two but more than eight languages. In his span of career he worked in many films like Jodha Akbar, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Mann, Khoya Khoya Chand, Farishtey, Maharaja, Phool Aur Angaar, Tere Mere Sapne, Badal, Andha Inteqaam, Tumse Achcha Kaun, Mrs Shrimati, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage and Hero Hindustan.
Our TV and Bollywood industry is unfortunate to have lost such a gem. May his soul rest in peace.

It seems that Aamir Khan was the Dark Knight that helped Kangana Ranaut through her tumultuous phase with Hrithik Roshan, as per a report on SpotBoye.com. The report further said that during moments of alienation in the industry, Aamir could have possibly been her confidant. Both of them seem to have bonded well before the release of ‘Katti Batti’ when she reportedly broke down, venting about her personal life. The report also mentions that Aamir was deeply concerned about Kangana and advised her about Hrithik while also requesting her sister to be by her side.
As for Alia, Alia’s family had Kangana starring in many of their hits. Mahesh Bhatt himself was very kind to her when Hritik thing happenend.
By the way Kangana praised Sehmat more than praising alia.
And everyone knows about the competition and bad blood between DP and Kangana.
Kangana wanted Manikarnika to be the answer for Padmaavat. But Manikarnika is struggling to reach 100 cr. with all the support from critics and fans. And no karni sena ban and all states playing her film unlike Padmaavat which lost out making 400 cr. because 3 to 4 states refused to play the movie.
If at all, blame Uri. Without Uri for competition, maybe Manikarnika would have crossed 100 cr. by this time.
Clearly the underperformance of Manikarnika must have made her bitter and lash out against everyone. and also the running controversy with Krish and others.
By the way if aamir khan supports a movie, it fails. Example Race 3 and Zero. And his own films.
She is hugely talented and she will come up with more good films in future. No doubt about it.
Janhvi Kapoor To Debut In Kollywood Opposite Ajith In Pink Remake?
As the official announcement about the project is yet to be out, it will be interesting to see how the young actress paves her way in Kollywood.
As per the reports flowing in, Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in a cameo in Tamil remake of Pink. The untitled film is being produced by Janhvi’s father, Boney Kapoor and will be directed by H Vinoth. The film will feature superstar Ajith essaying the character played by Bachchan in the social thriller. It is also been said that Vikram Vedha fame Shraddha Srinath to play the character essayed by Taapsee Pannu. The untitled remake is expected to go on floors during March and aiming for Dussehra release this year.

Salman Khan is on the roll. The actor, who is currently busy with the shooting of Bharat, is set to star in a cop thriller. The film will be a Hindi remake of the Korean hit film, Veteran. The makers of the film Atul Agnihotri’s Reel Life Production have acquired rights from Korean production, CJ Entertainment. While the actor is officially yet to make an announcement, it seems like aside from being Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg franchise, Salman Khan is once again ready to don the cop avatar.
The Korean film Veteran went onto become the fourth highest grossing film in South Korean cinema history. It was helmed by Ryoo Seung-wan and starred one of the famous actors Hwang Jung-min as the veteran cop and Yoo Ah-in as his nemesis. The story revolves around a detective Seo Do-cheol who is merciless and tough when it comes to crime. But, during a high-profile case, Seo meets an arrogant young millionaire Jo Tae-oh who happens to be his nemesis.
Just this morning, Ranveer Singh introduced the fans to his character Murad. The actor is essaying the role of a Muslim boy who dreams to become a rapper. Wearing a ‘taqiyah’ on his head, soorma in his eyes, he is seen in a pretty different look. Ranveer captioned the image, “Gully ka Chokra. #apnatimeaayega.”
There was a top twenty star list started here a couple of quarters back and the last quarter has seen a rise for Ranveer Singh and Kangana Ranaut. The jury is still out as to who is a bigger star between Ranveer Singh and Tiger Shroff as on fair value the opening of Baaghi 2 is as good if not better than Simmba which had a huge bonus od a top director front lining the film. But for the moment the lifetime success of Simmba and Tiger Shroff not consolidating the mega success of Baaghi 2 as yet means Ranveer Singh edges past for rankings..
The other change is Kangana Ranaut going up a few places. The film Marnikarnika may not be be a huge HIT but its a plus for the Kangana Ranaut as she was the only face of the film. It managed a 39 crore nett holiday weekend (32 crore nett fair value) which is a solid opening for a heroine film and will also put up a healthy final total. The top six stars remains as they were though the films of the top three did not perform last year though that is more about the films.

It takes everything into account and reflects that scenario. The positions of the last quarter are in brackets. The next update will be in Apr / May 2019.

Vicky Kaushal, Kartik, Sara are relatively new and Ayushman had only Vicky Donor from the past.
Vicky as a solo hero is yet to be accepted inspite of Uri and Masaan.
so we have Ranbir/Ranveer who will replace Khan trios and then u have an entire range of 2nd order stars with all those guys mentioned there…..akki/devgn will remain around with khan trios….but both the Rs will replace the superstars.
Didn’t read the article but the headline is a fact. The movie was flop before release especially when they made it around huge joint families and feel good family movies tonality. If it was something like ‘Fire’ it could still work at some level.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga took a dull opening of 5-7.5% which is pretty much on the expected lines. The film is named after a HIT song from a flop film 1942 – A Love Story. The film is very niche and basically been made due to the recovery from digital which is 20 crore so ensures the film wont be a big financial burden on the makers but the audience is a different kettle of fish and they will not be easily pleased.
The theme of the film will have very few takers with only some section of the metro audience coming for the film. The film has no face value or stars so that is a plus as a film like this with stars could be asking for big trouble.
The banner Vinod Chopra Films and Anil Kapoor combination sent the 90’s audience to sleep with two duds like Parinda (1989) and 1942 – A Love Story (1994) and it remains to be seen if results are any different in 2019.
There will be a three way fight at the box office to be the top film with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Manikarnika and Uri – The Surgical Strike. Manikarnika had a negative response from the audience generally at a ground level though the business held up post Monday but the Delhi / UP collections cracked on the eighth day which will mean a drop in collections as that was the best circuit.
Uri – The Surgical Strike is super strong on its fourth Friday and will give the new release and Manikarnika a good fight and could turn out to be the top film.

The second half, while still a bit predictable, engages in a sensitive and beautiful portrayal of a girl feeling trapped by her own emotions. The story’s track of a father coming to terms with the sexuality and the suppressed emotions of his daughter is touching. Though a bit theatrical, ‘ELKDTAL’ puts forth a progressive and important conversation around personal feelings and the true liberating nature of love. All of this plays out, in the most fun and entertaining fashion, which in a way is the strength of the movie, too.
The bulk of the entertainment comes through the performances by Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao. Sonam K Ahuja plays the central role and while she does manage to bring in the required vulnerability to her character, she doesn’t always convince you of Sweety’s emotional conflict. But, some staggering performances by Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao add a veritable punch to the proceedings. The adorable romantic comedy between Kapoor and Chawla is a sure-shot winner, too. Supporting performances by Madhumalti Kapoor, Abhishek Duhan, Regina, Seema Pahwa and Brijendra Kala are all top notch.
Writer-director Shelly Chopra Dhar and co-writer Gazal Dhaliwal (who previously wrote Irrfan’s ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’) manage to spark off some pretty interesting ideas of love. Yes, their film deals with sexuality and seeking acceptance from the older and more-conservative family members, but at the core, ‘ELKDTAL’ talks about love being a universal feeling, one that cannot be shackled by societal norms and diktats. The writing isn’t all top-grade, but this film has its heart in the right place and sometimes that’s all that really matters.

Uri – The Surgical Strike is heading for business over 200 crore nett as it hardly sees a fall on the fourth Friday with business in the 3 crore nett range as per early estimates. The film will be the first small – medium film to cross the 200 crore nett mark but more than it has also crossed the footfalls of Tanu Weds Manu Returns on the fourth Friday to become the biggest small – medium blockbuster of recent times.
The 200 crore nett figure will probably be achieved by many small – medium films in the future but Uri – The Surgical Strike has hit 1.5 crore in terms of footfalls with more to come and this will be huge task in the future. The film is probably among the biggest small – medium films in the history of Hindi cinema with the 1975 mythological historic blockbuster Jai Santoshi Maa (1975) leading the way.
The weak competition from the new releases means that Uri – The Surgical Strike will be the top film at the box office this weekend.

‘Manikarnika’ Producer Kamal Jain slams director Krish for attacking Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut starrer period drama ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ has opened to good reviews and has managed to impress the audience with Kangana’s portrayal of the warrior queen. However, the controversies surrounding the film ever since the project went on the floors doesn’t seem to die out. Co-directed by Kangana and Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish), the film hit the theaters on January 25. Krish had expressed displeasure at Kangana’s name appearing ahead of his in the film’s credits.
The director had also accused the actress of blatantly reducing the length of her co-stars’ parts. He revealed that Kangana wanted everything to herself and took over the reins. Krish also challenged Kangana’s sister Rangoli’s claim that 70% of the film is Kangana’s hard work.
Speaking on the controversies surrounding the film, producer Kamal Jain slammed Krish and said it is very sad how Krish is trying to claim credit for what he doesn’t deserve. Jain said it was his and studio’s collective decision to give credits the way they are. Kangana stood by the film from beginning to end and whatever she did could have not done without production and creative team’s consent.
Jain also argued that why doesn’t Krish go legal way if he is speaking the truth and prove his claims. He accuses him of making it a media trial after huge critical claim and box office success of the film.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga collected 2.75-3 crore nett at the box office on the first day which is a low collection. The film had nothing really going for it so its actually not too bad of a number. The cast was not there and the music had not worked also. Even the story from the trailer looks weak and not relatable.
The film only has chances at selct multiplexes of the five metros and because of that there should be growth on Saturday and it could even be big growth as the multiplexes where this film can do better are the ones which see best growth on Saturday. But the key is that can Sunday grow well and what happens Monday. The film grossed around 85 and 75 lakh in Mumbai and Delhi / UP respectively and these were the main main markets.

Abhishek Bachchan approached to play lead role in remake of French film Nuit Blanche

Over the past year, we have seen numerous foreign films being adapted to fit Bollywood sensibilities. Now we hear that Shailesh R Singh, the man behind films like Tanu Weds Manu, Aligarh, Simran and others has acquired the rights of the French film Nuit Blanche that will be adapted to a Bollywood feature film. If that wasn’t all we also hear that Singh has approached by none other than Abhishek Bachchan to essay the lead role in the film.
Commenting on the same, a source close to the developments says, “Yes, Shailesh Singh has acquired the right of Nuit Blanche. The film is a thriller about a cop who gets caught. It is a fast paced action thriller and is a perfect fit for a Bollywood actioner.” Further talking about the casting of the film the source adds, “As of now Abhishek Bachchan has been approached for the lead role, as he is perfect for the role.”
As for the film, Nuit Blanche or Sleepless Night follows the story of a detective who steals from a drug lord only to be told that he is supposed to return the stolen merchandise or his son’s life is in jeopardy. In 2017, the film was remade in English by Swiss director Baran bo Odar starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan. If that wasn’t all, Nuit Blanche which hit screens in 2011 was remade in Tamil and Telugu in 2015 as Thoongaa Vanam (Sleepless Jungle). Directed by Rajesh M. Selva starring Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj, Trisha Krishnan, Kishore, Sampath Raj, Yugi Sethu, Asha Sarath and Madhu Shalini, the film was dubbed in Hindi as Khakee: The Real Police.

He didn’t want to hold the producers up and waste their time. He told them up front he can’t accommodate that film. They want to go on floors as soon as possible and Akki has already blocked his dates for as many as seven projects in the coming one and half years. Plus, he is already part of R Balki’s Mission Mangal and didn’t want to crowd his filmography with another space film just as yet,” a source revealed.
Right now, the musical chairs are on between Vicky Kaushal, Rajkumar Rao, and Sushant Singh Rajput. It needs to be seen who finally plays the cosmonaut in the film.

Watched Kaabil. Inspite of all the ridicule it received.
Even I was hesitating but atlast watched it on Netflix. The suspense was well maintained. I will not talk about the actors but about the thriller aspect of it.
First it was difficult to believe baby faced Rohit Roy as villain but then he justified his role.
Felt how helpless sightlessness makes people. That is the reality. The revenge is a fairy story to satisfy the audience. Why to open the cards to the police? It is foolishness. They could have easily finished him with Shelar’s help.
Mom and Kaabil both deal with rape and revenge. If you dont hate Hritik, you can watch it. I dont hate any actors but just watch a movie and enjoy it.
Decided not to read reviews but just try to watch a movie and decide for myself.
I feel critics are sadists and they try to justify their writings and pose as intellectuals. And most of them are negative people posing as critics.
Both Raees and Kaabil were interesting movies. So what if they were not blockbusters?
Everyone is going wah wah on Andhadhun. But emotionally I connected to Kaabil more than Andhadhun. Maybe I am not pseudo intellectual like those critics and critical minded.Posted on another thread.

Kaabil did not fail and it was quite an appreciated movie overall. I liked Hritik’s stunts which were believable.
The Roy brothers along with Jha and Girish Kulkarni were good as antagonists.
The music was not memorable. Is Rajesh Roshan losing the touch?
Hritik did a good job without going overboard.
They took efforts to make the blindness of the leads to be believable. Yami was too sweet and too smiling. And in the beginning, Hritik also did not impress much. Only after the tragedy, he came alive as an actor.
There are many glitches but overall the film worked for me.
There are so many blind or partially blind people around. Why not give them a chance to play those roles instead? It would have given more authenticity.
Without competition, it could have done better.

I do not know if you all together argued against Kangana just for the sake of it because quite clearly you were taking side without understanding that Krish left the project midway after working like a dog. Now he is feeling bad because producers gave credit to Kangana and then to Krish.
Quite a bizarre arguments were presented which mostly were around Human Rights violations. I think by quiting the project, Krish showed the highest degree of unprofessionalism.
In the case of 2.0, Shankar stuck with the project for 2 more years. Imagine he lost out on another blockbuster but he stuck with the producers. never left him.
But here Krish does the opposite and now the MCP is looking for last minute mileage. Few others like Miss Chakrabarty got free PR.
Overall Kangana seems to have won the war for her high dregree of being with the project, working for the betterment and seeing it thru.

Uri – The Surgical Strike continues its insane run as it breaks records by margins. The fourth Saturday will go to 6 crore nett plus which easily smashes each outright Hindi film out of sight as 3 Idiots was around 3.90 crore on its fourth Saturday. So a non Bahubali – The Conclusion record is there for the fourth Saturday.
But Bahubali – The Conclusion grossed 6.20 crore nett on its fourth Saturday and Uri – The Surgical Strike could actually beat it when final collections come in the morning. The importance of this is that Bahubali – the Conclusion holds all daily records from the first Monday till the fifth Thursday. This is 32 days in a row where it has daily all time records. Now there is a chance this record run may be broken by Uri – The Surgical Strike.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has faced the expected rejection at the box office. The film will grow around 40% to 4 crore nett but today this is nothing for a film opening to such low numbers. These subjects on gays and lesbians are not relatable but more on that on another day.
As mentioned earlier in a column here that the combo of Vinod Chopra Films and Anil Kapoor gave the 90’s audience insomnia with Parinda (1989) and 1942 – A Love Story (1994) and things have not changed a couple of decades later. It takes really great minds to make a film on a subject that should be scrapped on paper but sadly many of these great minds actually do exist in the Hindi film industry and the other industries across India will be praying that these great minds stay put.

So true! People expected it to fold under 70Cr. But it’s first week was pretty decent and weekdays trending good so it was a pragmatic approach to wait for 2nd weekend at minimum and now even the third weekend. It could still reach 100Cr with all regional collections using Taran’s numbers and it is contending with URI which itself is pretty historic with it’s run.

From BOI on Friday’s collections. That’s a ridiculous standard to set! It’s done AVERAGE to them but the commentary has been like that of a flop film. They’ve predicted expected drop in collections throughout entire first week weekdays but it was the 2nd Fri where it dropped and practically EVERY film drops on Fri by a number of factors! And if it’s flop trending 2nd Saturday wouldn’t increase this much. It’s basically AVERAGE. Neither flop or hit.
Maybe considering the reviews it has underperformed a little but I suspect URI has something to do with that.

The problem is that from BOI’s own numbers, it still does not look like going past 80cr. And it needs to much more than that. According to a post from BOI earlier, the regional versions have also not fared too well as per the economics.
It has trended alright at lower levels. But this was also predicted in the last BO thread as there were 80cr lifetime predictions here.
I do think for a film that does around 80cr business from reported production costs of 125cr, then BOI are in fact quite kind to call it average. It is as leniently average BO-wise as Ra1 was a hit for them.
On the other hand, the comments by BOI on ELKAL were really in bad taste. Agreed the film is a flop, but there was no need to once again use it to attack the banner, the actors and the director of Parinda and 1942 A Love Story.

6.25 crores
Uri – The Surgical Strike is setting the box office ablaze as it collected 6.25 crore nett on its fourth Saturday which is an ALL TIME RECORD as it edged past Bahubali – The Conclusion which grossed 6.20 crore nett. It is not a record in GROSS numbers but just to be around Bahubali – The Conclusion is a big achievement. The highest outright Hindi film is 3 idiots at 3.90 crore nett and Uri – The Surgical Strike is 60% better than that. When any Bahubali – The Conclusion record is broken it means the film has done something special.
The film is breaking records now of all outright Hindi films and is unstoppable at the box office. the film has topped 180 crore nett and the 200 crore nett mark will probably be hit next weekend and even then the film will have some legs. The growth on Saturday was a huge 90% with South India giving huge performance and with more prints than week one in some South circuits.

British officials have revived Cold War emergency plans to relocate the royal family should there be riots in London if Britain suffers a disruptive departure from the European Union next month, two Sunday newspapers reported.
“These emergency evacuation plans have been in existence since the Cold War, but have now been repurposed in the event of civil disorder following a no-deal Brexit,” the Sunday Times said, quoting an unnamed source from the government’s Cabinet Office, which handles sensitive administrative issues.
The Mail on Sunday also said it had learnt of plans to move the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth, to safe locations away from London.
Britain’s government is struggling to get parliamentary support for a Brexit transition agreement with the EU before the departure date of March 29, and the government and businesses are preparing contingency plans for a ‘no-deal’ Brexit.
Business groups have warned of widespread disruption if there are lengthy delays to EU imports due to new customs checks, and even possible shortages of food and medicine.
Last month an annual speech by the 92-year-old queen to a local women’s group was widely interpreted in Britain as a call for politicians to reach agreement over Brexit.

The asterisk is always important. BB2 was pre GST changes so ideally gross is key. But URI being a much smaller film than any film close to 200Cr mark justifiably puts it in another league GST changes or not. There is no reason to believe even under old GST rates this one could have chased 250Cr! A strong trending film has to be given the benefit of the doubt whatever price of ticket as demand will always be there.

Our sources have confirmed that the movie is going to be a biopic and that Karan Johar will be backing the project with Dharma Productions. The project is most likely to go on floors in August 2019 and the final details are yet to come. All we know for now is that Sara is going to be the lead actress in this upcoming biopic. I watched it on hotstar. It is a collection of three real life incidents with a 360 degree perspective. I only liked the first and second narrations. Agree with Idea’s statement that slowly the socialist in Aamir is takimg over the entertainer in him

I think aamir khan is a laid-back guy now – not really in the race to do many films. And too much of these tear-jerkers have taken a toll on him. Hope he does atleast 2-3 more commercial films before he also starts getting rejected by audience like SRK…..fingers crossed….what goes up has to come down….

LS here. I am writing here after a long time ; peeped in today.
Aamir has repeatedly said that he is an entertainer. He makes films to provide entertainment. The social activist is different. He has said, more than once, that he spends half the year on films and half on his social work. On screen he attempts to entertain and succeeds. Even his tv ads are mini stories, funny, wacky, fun. Aamir was absolutely hilarious and entertaining in TOH. And he was rejected by many, other than a bunch of loyal fans who have understood what he was trying to do. His very first Firangi look saw the knives coming out. He wasn’t even given a chance. Aamir as Firangi Mallah, Katrina as the saucy Suraiya — their chemistry …👌 Also loved the wacky Sanichar, the interaction between these three. They entertained. The rest of the film was uneven, dumb, barely held together. Amitabh was impressive, but surely he has done better films and roles.
Roobaru Roshni is something that is the brainchild of its writer director Svati Chakraborty Bhatkal. Aamir has produced it. Yes, it is a docu drama. Loved the first story, yet to watch the second story fully, third one too. Will do do today, maybe.
Aamir is not going down. He is as always making films at his own pace. And he was never in the race. His next film should be announced soon,in a month. He has said that he is going through four scripts.

I don’t think this film is a career setback for Kangana. It’s actually a step up from the box office disasters of Rangoon and Simran.

As Rahul said Boi is not that unkind to it compared to its reaction Anil Kapoor’s film. European cinema? Lesbians’ story is unimportant and not worth watching? Anil Kapoor’s filmography is forgotten. He was part of a film(only known face for Indians in that film) which won Oscars. He also won national award for Pukaar. And he acted in many masala movies. He retains his look and still can carry a loverboy role without raising eyebows. Parinda is an iconic film. Beta was pure masala.

They spent 35 crores on re-shooting I believe. Period movies have huge budget and there’s no way around it unless you want it to look fake. Irrespective of trend the movie was made to at least make 200 crores for it to be clear hit. Even limping if it does 90-95 crores, its not. successful movie IMO.

The rehearsals began at 7 am and ended at around 2 am. While trying to perfect his moves, he ended up doing the particular knee-drop step for over 15 times and landed with severe leg cramps and a busted knee. The actor has been advised to lay low and rest for speedy recovery. He is going to continue to shoot but will try his best not to damage his knee further. Varun was supposed to shoot with three different dance crews on that day, V Unbeatable, Urban Crew, and N House Crew.
The team is gearing up for their London schedule which commences on February 8. Not only Varun, but Shraddha is also learning 5 different dance forms for the movie. Let’s just all take a bow for Varun for being thoroughly professional and also, we wish him a speedy recovery!

Earlier to this, there was a news of her being approached for Baaghi 3 alongside Tiger Shroff but seems Sara wasn’t too interested either. The super-hit franchise who earlier had Shraddha Kapoor in Baaghi and Disha Patani in Baaghi 2, had minimal scope for Sara to perform opposite Tiger Shroff, the whole-sole owner of the films.
Though Sara was appreciated for her role in Simbaa but her screen time was questioned. Looks like the actress doesn’t want to bare the brunt of Simbaa anymore hence she walked out of Baaghi 3. Sara was even offered Coolie No. 1 remake alongside Varun Dhawan but the actress wasn’t sure either hence didn’t pay heed to the offer.
Seems like, Sara is scared of being overshadowed with her male costars.

Just came back from URI. It is a very well made movie by Bollywood standards with the war sequences being shot beautifully. The BG score could have been milder though. Vicky Kaushal is quite effective and I liked Mohit Raina as well

Uri – The Surgical Strike had a historic fourth weekend as it recorded fourth weekend figures of 18.25 crore nett. This is only second to Bahubali – The Conclusion and has beaten every outright Hindi film be it Dangal, PK, Sanju or Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The 2009 film 3 Idiots had the highest fourth weekend at a little over 9.50 crore nett.
Not only has Uri – The Surgical Strike beaten the fourth weekend numbers of the above films it has beaten the fourth week numbers of all those films in the weekend itself. 3 idiots collected a little under 16 crore nett in week four which is the best fourth week figure.
The film now has a running total of 189 crore nett and it will cruise past the 200 crore nett mark next weekend and if it continues at this trend then even 225 crore nett cannot be ruled out.

Currently, a film takes between 18 and 24 months from script to screen, and a large part of this, almost six months, goes into pre-production.

With the introduction of the single window clearance provision, pre-production windows are expected to reduce significantly.

Uri – The Surgical Strike continues to break all records on Monday with collections higher than any other film on its fourth Monday outside Bahubali – The Conclusion. The final fourth weekend collections were an ALL TIME RECORD just edging past Bahubali – The Conclusion. The film has collected 2.75 crore nett on its fourth Monday and is now has a total of 192 crore.
The film is very steady and it could be that it reaches the 200 crore mark at the end of the week. There is plenty of gas left it in the tank it could be a finish that is around the 225 crore nett mark. The film has put up phenomenal numbers in South. If we take the all South Indian circuits then it will do business double of Simmba there or at least very close to double. Simmba did 19 crore nett in Nizam / Andhra, Mysore and Tamil Nadu / Kerala and this will do 35 crore nett on a worse scenario.
The film is also chasing the fourth week record of Bahubali – The Conclusion which was a little over 29 crore nett. More than 200 crore nett this would be the achievement.. The collections of Uri – The Surgical Strike are as follows.

Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi (Hindi) remained steady on its second Monday with 2 crore nett. The drop is around 30% from Friday and its second week total in four days is a decent 15.75 crore nett. it will comfortably cross 20 crore nett in week two and probably even 21 crore nett.
The final number will be a good one for a female driven film beating all the films barring Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Raazi leaving with Kangana Ranaut with two out of the top three. The only difference is that no other female driven film has gone over 50 crore in terms of costs while this one is way over.
The problem becomes even if you go over in terms of costs the initial is still difficult unless backed by a combination of action and music and for a female driven film this probably has to be thought out cleverly and cant be done in the regular way like for the hero driven actioners. Manikarnika despite the bigger canvas could not push the initial much higher than other female driven films. The collections of Manikarnika – The Queen Of Jhansi till date are as follows

Kangana Ranaut’s recent release Manikarnika has been into lots of controversies.
We all witnessed an ugly feud between Kangana and the Manikarnika director Krish. The actress has now targeted Bollywood beauties like Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone for being insecure.
Talking about how people send her their trailers to see and praise on social media, Kangana Ranaut said, “These girls send me their trailers like Alia (Bhatt) sent me the trailer of Raazi and said, ‘Please watch it’. For me, it was not a Karan Johar film or Alia film, for me, it was a film on Sehmat Khan, the girl who has given her everything to the country.”
Kangana further added that she spoke with Alia Bhatt and Meghna Gulzar for half-an-hour during Raazi, but, when the time came for her film to be promoted on social media, she didn’t receive the same favours.
Talking about how she never feels threatened by anyone around, the actress said that she praised Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and almost everyone in the industry.

A news report in Mid-day shows pictures from the event in which a few women can be seen lying on the floor after taking a fall. One is even seen tending to her hurt head. “Grow up Ranveer Singh and stop your childish antics,” wrote a Twitter user, sharing the news clipping online. “Tbh, I was there I wouldn’t have tried to catch you. Humpty would have suffered a great fall,” wrote another.

I think not many here know about a similar incident decade back. Rap singer – Coolio jumped into the crowd and then he got robbed of all his belongings and beaten by the crowd, LOL!

According to reports, Sudeep will be seen as an antagonist in the third instalment of the hit cop franchise Dabangg. A source adds that Prabhudheva recently narrated the basic premise of Dabangg 3 to the actor who liked what he heard and gave his verbal nod to the film. He will sign the project on the dotted line soon.
“Sudeep and Salman have been planning to team up on a film for a long time and things have finally fallen in place. The two will engage in Tom and Jerry kind of skirmishes in Dabangg 3. Sudeep’s character has shades of grey,” a well-placed source reveals.
Dabangg 3, which is being directed by actor-choreographer-filmmaker Prabhudeva, is set to start rolling in the month of April. If the source is to be believed, the film will be wrapped up within 90-100 days. There are also reports that Salman is planning to release the cop-drama around the festivities of Christmas later this year.

What Srk said indirectly was that he does not want to become like Akshay churning out 4 movies per year according to the below statement by him.
And now; in a recent interview to Deccan Chronicle, SRK has revealed what he fears the most. Elaborating about the same; the ‘Baazigar’ actor revealed,” My biggest fear is what if I became mundane and start doing boring things and films. I get very scared at times what I start doing mundane films.”
Shahrukh; who has possibly the most versatile characters to his credits further said,” I hope the day never comes when I am so tired that I tell myself that it is ok to do just a regular film which will get made in 40 days, release soon, become a box office hit and I can buy myself a new car and be happy. That thought scares me.”
And what he said according to the quote you said was that he cant do a film with Akshay because their sleep patterns differ!
These are two different statements.
And not all Khans are alike. Aamir will not do 3 films in a year because he takes his own time to do each film in a specifice manner.
Only Salman can do 3 films in a year if he wants.
Srk would have done atleast 2 films per year if his films were great successes and if he does not mind small setups.
Akshay is successful in doing too many films at a stretch while Anil Kapoor is not successful attempting the same 3 to 4 films per year. For Bachchan success or failure does not matter and he just wants to do as many films as possible.

Talks have been rife about the possibility of Andaz Apna Apna remake with Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan. Now, Aamir Khan has spoken about it which makes us pretty hopeful about this film which has not been announced officially. When asked about the possibility of seeing Ranveer and Varun together reprising the roles of him and Salman, Aamir said that it would be great for young actors to be featured in a classic comedy like this. He later added that he is not sure whether the project is being made or not but if it is, then it is definitely a great news and he would love to see both Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan in the film.

There are rumours that he is also approached by director Madhur Bhandarkar for the film Inspector Ghalib. But it is being said that the Dilwale actor is ready not one or two but 10 scripts at the moment. According to Pinkvilla, a source quoted, “Shah Rukh is reading around 10 scripts currently. While the one with Madhur Bhandarkar is already known, he has also been approached by Andhadun director Sriram Raghavan, Amit Sharma, Amar Kaushik, Sanjay Leela Bhansali among others.”

Boi and Taran gave manikarnika( approx 2 cr.) numbers and EkL (1.3 cro) numbers for tuesday. Nothing was given about Uri by them According to addatoday Uri tuesday is 2. cr.
Acording boi, worldwide Uri is in the 5th position.
1. Sanju – 578 crore
2. Padmaavat – 546 crore
3. Simmba – 393 crore (35 Days)
4. Race 3 – 306 crore

It has not been a good week for the Tv industry. As in the very beginning we lost two of the actors par excellence. After Ramesh Bhatkar, the news of veteran actor Syed Badr-ul Hasan aka Pappu Polyester has come in. The actor who played many prolific roles all through out his career, breathed his last in Lucknow yesterday. Much is still not known about the cause of his demise.
He was an acclaimed actor and was known for his roles in TV show The Sword of Tipu Sultan and movies like Darmiyaan: In Between (1997), Ittefaq (2001) and Dhund: The Fog (2003). He was not a common man but had the lineage of Nawabs of Awadh. He was the descendant of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the tenth Nawab of Awadh.
He worked in the industry for an enormous period of 25 years and even won a National Award for his performance as Maharaja of Mysore in the 1990 television series The Sword of Tipu Sultan. Apart from being an actor, he was a classical dancer too and had won an award for best classical dance by Birju Maharaj himself.
He was fluent in not one or two but more than eight languages. In his span of career he worked in many films like Jodha Akbar, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Mann, Khoya Khoya Chand, Farishtey, Maharaja, Phool Aur Angaar, Tere Mere Sapne, Badal, Andha Inteqaam, Tumse Achcha Kaun, Mrs Shrimati, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage and Hero Hindustan.
Our TV and Bollywood industry is unfortunate to have lost such a gem. May his soul rest in peace.

It seems that Aamir Khan was the Dark Knight that helped Kangana Ranaut through her tumultuous phase with Hrithik Roshan, as per a report on SpotBoye.com. The report further said that during moments of alienation in the industry, Aamir could have possibly been her confidant. Both of them seem to have bonded well before the release of ‘Katti Batti’ when she reportedly broke down, venting about her personal life. The report also mentions that Aamir was deeply concerned about Kangana and advised her about Hrithik while also requesting her sister to be by her side.

As for Alia, Alia’s family had Kangana starring in many of their hits. Mahesh Bhatt himself was very kind to her when Hritik thing happenend.
By the way Kangana praised Sehmat more than praising alia.
And everyone knows about the competition and bad blood between DP and Kangana.
Kangana wanted Manikarnika to be the answer for Padmaavat. But Manikarnika is struggling to reach 100 cr. with all the support from critics and fans. And no karni sena ban and all states playing her film unlike Padmaavat which lost out making 400 cr. because 3 to 4 states refused to play the movie.
If at all, blame Uri. Without Uri for competition, maybe Manikarnika would have crossed 100 cr. by this time.
Clearly the underperformance of Manikarnika must have made her bitter and lash out against everyone. and also the running controversy with Krish and others.
By the way if aamir khan supports a movie, it fails. Example Race 3 and Zero. And his own films.
She is hugely talented and she will come up with more good films in future. No doubt about it.

It is also been said that Vikram Vedha fame Shraddha Srinath to play the character essayed by Taapsee Pannu. The untitled remake is expected to go on floors during March and aiming for Dussehra release this year.

Salman Khan is on the roll. The actor, who is currently busy with the shooting of Bharat, is set to star in a cop thriller. The film will be a Hindi remake of the Korean hit film, Veteran. The story revolves around a detective Seo Do-cheol who is merciless and tough when it comes to crime. But, during a high-profile case, Seo meets an arrogant young millionaire Jo Tae-oh who happens to be his nemesis.

There was a top twenty star list started here a couple of quarters back and the last quarter has seen a rise for Ranveer Singh and Kangana Ranaut. The jury is still out as to who is a bigger star between Ranveer Singh and Tiger Shroff as on fair value the opening of Baaghi 2 is as good if not better than Simmba which had a huge bonus od a top director front lining the film. But for the moment the lifetime success of Simmba and Tiger Shroff not consolidating the mega success of Baaghi 2 as yet means Ranveer Singh edges past for rankings..
The other change is Kangana Ranaut going up a few places. The film Marnikarnika may not be be a huge HIT but its a plus for the Kangana Ranaut as she was the only face of the film. It managed a 39 crore nett holiday weekend (32 crore nett fair value) which is a solid opening for a heroine film and will also put up a healthy final total. The top six stars remains as they were though the films of the top three did not perform last year though that is more about the films.

The below positions are not based on just box office numbers as its difficult to bring in female stars that way as the credit (there will be a heroine top ten due to the number of people demanding one for heroines) has to be calculated and even male stars (barring Akshay Kumar in last few films) are padded with other elements and are not totally depending on themselves for the numbers. It takes everything into account and reflects that scenario. The positions of the last quarter are in brackets. The next update will be in Apr / May 2019.

It also depends on the number of years as a mid range star.
Vicky Kaushal, Kartik, Sara are relatively new and Ayushman had only Vicky Donor from the past.
Vicky as a solo hero is yet to be accepted inspite of Uri and Masaan.
