No 2.0 release in China on May 2. Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar film postponed?

Director Shankar’s 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar was supposed to release in China on May 2. Rumour has it that the film has been postponed to the end of May or June

Director Shankar’s magnum opus film 2.0 starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson hit the theatres on November 29, 2019, and became a blockbuster hit. The film, which was produced on an extravagant budget of Rs 543 crore, is said to be India’s costliest film.

It was earlier reported that 2.0 will release in China in a record number of screens on May 2. However, it looks like the film has been postponed for unknown reasons. Word has it that the makers are planning a grand release by the end of May or in the month of June this year.

Earlier, Lyca Productions, who bankrolled the film, announced that 2.0 will release in 56,000 screens, including 47,000 3D screens. The distribution rights were snapped up by HY Media.

An official announcement on 2.0’s release date in China is yet to be made. We will have to wait and see what the makers have in store for the Chinese audience.

2.0 is a sci-fi flick which addressed the perils of the harmful radiation emanating from cell phone towers and its effect on human beings and birds.

A good weekend in china will take it closer to $600M. Domestically also its projected to ccross $600M in this weekend.

    Spoilers

BLANK is just 111 minutes long but it seems quite lengthy. The film starts off well at a crucial moment and then goes on a flashback mode. The first half doesn’t go on a high but is decent and sans complaints. Hanif’s fight sequence in the hospital is nicely done. His interrogation sequence gets a bit dragging but keeps viewers engaged. The intermission point however is the best part of the film. Three developments are happening simultaneously here – Husna is searching Hanif’s house, Rohit is in search of the godown whereas Dewan is about to execute Hanif. And all these episodes are well directed. Post-interval however, the film goes downhill. A track is needlessly added about Hanif’s father during the 2002 riots. Remove this bit and the film still would have made sense. The action scene in the tourist office is quite long and well executed. The climax is quite unexpected and unpredictable. That is a plus but at the same time, logic goes out of the window. The masses especially would find it difficult to understand the developments regarding the bomb attached on Hanif’s body.

Karan Kapadia makes a fine debut. He succeeds in pulling off this uni-dimensional character. Shockingly, the film is marketed extensively on his name but for most of the second half, he is not there on the screen. Sunny Deol is excellent and after a string of bad films and acts [YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA PHIR SE, MOHALLA ASSI, BHAIAJI SUPERHIT], he finally proves his worth in this film. The audiences will get to see the Deol they love, in this film. Ishita Dutta gives her best shot. Karanvir Sharma looks dashing and makes his presence felt. Jameel Khan (Maqsood) is entertaining. But his act might remind one of his character in BABY [2015]. Kishori Shahane (Dewan’s wife) is wasted. The actors playing Farukh, Bashir, Aruna Gupta and Dewan’s son Raunaq are average.

Music has no scope. ‘Ali Ali’, featuring Akshay Kumar, appears in the end. ‘Himmat Karja’ is wasted and the way Sunny Deol and others start doing a particular hand movement in a serious moment looks out of place. ‘Warning Nahi Dunga’ is played during the opening credits and goes well with it. Rooshin Dalal and Kaizad Gherd’s background score however is quite powerful and escalates impact.

Avengers Endgame Has Extraordinary Week One
    Friday 03 May 2019 11.30 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Avengers – Endgame had and extraordinary first week as it collected nearly 260 crore nett though the film did see its first big drop on Thursday. The film has smashed records of all Hindi film for the first week by leaps and bounds as Sultan holds the records at 208 crore nett.

The drop on thursday means that the 400 crore nett mark will probably not be reached as the film looks to be following a similar trend as the Iast Avengers film Infinity War. It is probably looking at a 350-375 crore nett finish but a lot will depend on the second Friday number. The last Avengers film had collected 155 crore nett apprx in week one and this film has done 67% more.

Avengers Endgame is the biggest blockbuster of 2019 in India and is also probably going to be the biggest blockbuster ever from Hollywood and maybe the first one to get footfalls of 2 crore plus. It may beat the marks set by Titanic, The Jungle Book and Avengers – Infinity War. The collections of Avengers – Endgame till date are as follows.

    Friday – 53,50,00,000 apprx

    Saturday – 52,25,00,000 apprx

    Sunday – 53,75,00,000 apprx

    Monday – 30,50,00,000 apprx

    Tuesday – 26,00,00,000 apprx

    Wednesday – 28,00,00,000 apprx

    Thursday – 15,50,00,000 apprx

    TOTAL – 2,59,50,00,000 apprx

The Tashkent Files has done steady business for three weeks despite Kalnak releasing in its second week and Avengers – Endgame releasing in its third. On top these low grossing films need the reviewers to support with the stars to to do some business but this film is doing without media support. The third week business of the film is better than the first week and it has done 11.50 crore nett business till now with more to come. The business of this film is till date is as follows.

    First Week – 3,49,00,000

    Second Week – 4,17,00,000

    Friday – 3,75,00,000 apprx

A film’s success or failure will not be a tight slap for any one commie or otherwise. Do you think that they have no business but keep track of a film? Their business is over once they receive their cheque for their write up. For raja sen, even a cheque does not matter. Maybe they may change their stance after a few years.

yes, people like Swara and Tanushree are the commie brigade, and so are people who criticize the government. because in some Atlantis-like parallel world, government = country. someone complains about it, and he’s a urban terrorist. Can’t blame you, you’ve been too brainwashed to see through common sense, and you’re led to believe all criticizers are opposition supporters.

because on one hand we have the likes of sadhvi pragya, Yogi adityanath, Vivek Agnihotri, Modi, Amit Shah and sambit patra who’re “great people” and want good of the nation but terrorists like Late Jawaharlal Nehru, Amartya Sen, Swara Bhaskar and Tanushree Dutta are proving to be such great obstacles.

Man, it’s a challenge replying to you! Because I seriously don’t know where to begin pointing out the idiocy to someone who considers a disaster of a film iconic enough to be used as a username.

No wonder we can never have a central wing in a nation full of a billion plus dimwits and imbeciles. Because its assumed (even when the assumptions are unwelcome) that if you’re positive of 1 individual, you’re inclined to the entire right wing and the vice versa which I face whenever I defend Manmohan Singh for his legendary reforms in 1991.

More recently, when the actor was asked about the situation he finds himself him, which restricts him from voting in the elections, he declined to comment. In a 2017 interview to Times Now, he said, “About the Canadian thing, I am an honorary citizen. I’ve been given an honorary thing. I think it’s a thing that people should be proud about. I have an honorary doctorate also but I am not a Doctor. So this is what people have to understand.”

He wrote, “I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal, non-political, and of no consequence to others. Lastly, I would like to continue contributing in my small way to the causes that I believe in and make India stronger and stronger.”

Avengers – Endgame has continued its dominant run at the box office on its second Friday with collections holding up pretty well from Thursday. It has been helped that the other new releases are nonstarters and fill not be able to do anything at the box office.

Blank like its name has fired blanks at the box office while Setters unlike its name is definitely not settled at the box office. Both films had nothing going for them and will struggle with Blank probably getting the better opening day collections although they will not be much.

There were two Punjabi films releases with Blackia and Dil Diyan Gallan with the former taking a better start though big cities like Chandigarh and Ludhiana were not that good for Blackia.

Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios get jittery on Student Of The Year 2, CUT DOWN on film’s marketing budget?

If the truth be told, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and their partner Fox Star Studios are jittery over the release of their splashy college romantic-musical Student Of The Year 2. “Why should they not be jittery after the crippling blow that was dealt by the failure of Kalank?” argues a source close to Dharma.

But then comes the surprising revelation. “Kalank has made Dharma all the more determined to make a success out of Student Of The Year 2. Naak kaa sawaal hai (it’s a matter of prestige). They are going all-out to ensure the film gets a big box office boost,” says the source.

Apparently Alia Bhatt’s dance number with Tiger Shroff was an afterthought. Admitting this, one of the prominent players in the project says, “I agree Alia came in at the last minute. They wanted a big star to dance with Tiger. The Alia-Tiger song and dance is a big boost to the film. As far as cutting marketing budgets is concerned, they (Dharma Productions – Fox Star Studios) have taken a voluntary decision to go slow on publicity during the last phase so as to not create an over expectation in the audience. There’s no budget cut as such.”

The show will no longer go on at the iconic 71-year-old RK Studios. It will now make way for a swank residential complex-cum-shopping plaza through its new owner, realty major Godrej Properties Ltd., an official said here on Friday.

The GPL has purchased the 2.20 acres (roughly, 100,000 sq. feet) RK Studios premises in Chembur, north-east Mumbai — founded in 1948 — which were gutted in a major fire that engulfed it on September 16, 2017.

GPL, which has inked the deal for an undisclosed amount with the Bollywood’s Kapoor clan — plan to now convert it into a modern residential apartments complex and a luxury retail centre spread over a saleable area of around 350,000 sq. feet.

Leading realty players though point out that the current commercial property rates in and around Chembur are in the range of Rs 24,000-Rs 28,000 per sq. feet depending on the locality.

Executive Chairman of GPL, Pirojsha Godrej, said the deal fits with the company’s strategy of deepening its presence in key locations across India’s leading cities.

“We will seek to ensure we celebrate the remarkable legacy of this site with the goal of delivering an outstanding lifestyle for its residents,” Godrej said.

Veteran Bollywood actor Randhir Kapoor, son of the founder of RK Studios, the legendary Raj Kapoor, said: “This property in Chembur, has been of tremendous significance to my family over the many decades that RK Studios has operated from there. We are excited to have chosen GPL to script a new chapter for this location and build upon its rich history.”

Blank recorded poor collections on its first day as it grossed around 40-45 lakhs nett. The film did por business all over but was far better than the other new release Setters which was around the 10-15 lakh nett mark. Both the films have no chance as the first day business is too low and reports do not suggest manifold growth.

Kalank saw another big drop in business with collections of 15-20 lakh nett and is looking to add another 1-1.50 crore nett for a finish of only 80 crore nett which will mean around 25% of its business came on day one. The business of Kalank till date is as follows.

The Tashkent Files is steady and is an AVERAGE fair. the collections of this film on the fourth Friday were pretty similar to the first day. It picked up around 30-35 lakhs nett on its fourth Friday. The film is looking to comfortably cross the 15 crore nett mark and may even get close to 20 crore nett depending on how the next few weeks unfold. “It attempted an emergency landing but did not succeed the first time, and on the second time the landing gear hit (the ground), then the nose did, and it caught fire,” the source added.

    By – Pooja BediUpdated: May 8, 2019, 12:46 ISTfacebooktwitterincom
Pooja Bedi on Karan Oberoi rape charges: It’s time to begin a #mentoo movement
My best friend Karan Oberoi has been arrested for “rape & extortion” and drugging and filming the complainant. The publicly known facts of the case are that they met end 2016 on a dating app. In October 2018, Oberoi filed an NC against the woman for harassment. In her interview to TOI in November 2018, she states they had been in “a relationship”, that she had showered him with gifts and done up his apartment, and that she felt bad to pressure him for marriage because he was in a bad financial position. However, this week in May 2019 she has filed a case of rape and extortion, claiming it happened sometime in January 2017. Statements in her interview in November 2018 are in direct contrast to her FIR in May 2019 which says the “alleged” crime took place in 2017. We cannot term it a fake case until proven, but what happens in the interim? She has lodged the FIR the day the Bombay high court went on holiday, so he can’t apply for bail for a month.
The media has jumped onto it, hashtags of #rapist, loss of his reputation, damage to his career, his family in turmoil, the physical distress given conditions of lock up… the list goes on. We showed the police overwhelming evidence in regard to her messages on his phone, but the saddest part is even if the police can see that the man is innocent of the charges, they have to take action based on the FIR, arrest him and follow due process of law. Even more bizarre was that he and she were both sent for medical tests even though the alleged incident happened 2.5 years ago, because it’s due process.

An extremely intriguing and well researched plot and a solid screenplay has been somewhat messed up by the extreme hamming by a solid support cast and dialogues filled with propaganda and over the top histrionics. Somewhat of an opportunity missed, I wonder how brilliant this film could have been with the same plot line and the same actors but in the hands of a more mature film maker who understand the nuances of film making more than Agnihotri. Nevertheless, for its novelty, enlightening plot and the extremely sensitive aspect it touches upon, I’d give this flawed yet courageous film a 7/10 rating.

Avatar 2’s Release Date Postponed, Here’s The Fresh Schedule Of Series Till Avatar 5

James Cameron’s long-awaited and often delayed follow-up to Avatar has been pushed back by another year.

Avatar 2 will now release internationally on December 17, 2021 instead of December 18, 2020 as originally planned.

The delay means that Avatar 3 will open on December 22, 2023 as opposed to December 17, 2021 while Avatar 4 will release on December 19, 2025 instead of December 20, 2024 and Avatar 5 will open on December 17, 2027, reports variety.com.

The news comes as part of a larger shift in release dates unveiled by Walt Disney Studios. The company is moving around the debuts of various movies it inherited after buying the bulk of 21st Century Fox’s film and television assets in a $71.3 billion mega-merger deal.

As part of the release date shake-up, Disney announced there will be three yet-untitled Star Wars movies.

They will hit theatres after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brings the Skywalker spin-off saga to a close in December this year.

The first of the new three films will hit the big screen on December 16, 2022. There will be two other follow-ups that will premiere on December 20, 2024 and December 18, 2026.

Following the success of Avengers: Endgame, Disney has also adjusted a few upcoming Marvel releases. Fox’s “The New Mutants” has been pushed back from August 2, 2019 to April 3, 2020.

Why Akshay Kumar fans are super cool about the controversy with the actor?

Brouhaha was created by Aamir Khan Fans when he was trolled for his statement made on TV. Aamir fans took it as an insult and fought for months among themselves and with faceless trolls.

Similar self trolling was done in the past by SRK fans as well when Americans searched him at the airport, must to the amazement of others. The tinge also has a communal touch which damaged the Khan brand.

But Akshay Kumar fans are super cool. The star is at the peak of his career and he has managed the reply in the most sensible manner.

Other stars let unleashed trolls even on Satyamshot. They ignorantly ranted about Aamir being a nationalist. Akshay kumar has not done anything similar. It comes from being in control and not having self-doubt.

Every brouhaha has a root. Even with aamir and srk. And also with akshay. They say there cant be smoke without fire. The stars are not gods. They have biases and they have weaknesses. All part of life. If they receive bouquets, let them also receive brickbats. Some 10 years back, stars were not polarised this much with the exception of during the period of emergency.

    • Every controversy has a root. I agree.

But brouhaha is needless. Hundreds of senseless comments. Copying the tweets which we saw Aamir Khan fans doing is quite a sign of insecurity among the fans. Not sure how many were unleashed by the actor himself.

Well, the brouhaha is inevitable if you are a celebrity. If you are Rajpal Yadav, no one cares. Aamir is still facing it on SM. The bigger the celebrity, the bigger is the backlash.
As for aamir unleashing some of the comments, you should ask him as you are close to him and advise him too!

In previous films, Malaika Arora has made a cameo with peppy dance numbers including ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ and ‘Fevicol Se’. But this time around, it will feature Salman Khan who will reportedly feature in an item number and the song will be recreated as ‘Munna Badnaam Hua’. Malaika Arora’s dance number was a rage after Dabangg and this time Salman Khan will showcase his dancing prowess with the new song. The lyrics will undergo changes and Salman is reportedly set for ‘Munna Badnaam Hua’.
