  6. The female lead requires some good acting skills (if one goes by the Korean film). If they want a star in there, there aren’t too many choices available. Deepika can bring in the audience as well as good performance but there are not too many options who can bring both to the table. Kareena is stale. Katrina is a star but poor performer. The likes of Jaqueline, Sonakshi do not bring anything.

  11. Acting wise Salman has never disappointed. He has tremendous screen presence which more than makes up for little shortcomings.
Earlier in scenes like Sajan he was found short of acting as the director never presented him to capture his screen presence.
But now with his superstardom he is superbly adequate.

This could be Salman’s award winning act. No sure about the box office as Salman’s films are sold at higher price and this is not the typical Eid release to suffice the expectations of the kind of crowd that comes to the theatre with their Eidi. This should have been a christmas release and Dabangg3 an Eid release.

Paying public is braver these days – so much so that after rejecting SRK in all his last outings, they have dared to do the same with Sallu over a few years now – Jai Ho, Race 3….and to complete the list – they rejected aamir as well with TOH. So now only star power will not work with these guys…may first 2-3 days BO opening will come…..again, Sallu still has tremendous screen presence…Bharat looks safe

      • I think Bharat is safe because of Ali Abbas Zafar, and the fact that Sallu bhai has hopefully not interfered much with the casting and the screenplay.
Aside : a movie like Dabang is actually helped by Sallu’s inputs.

There is no comparison and Kamal remained one of the finest till he started to write, produce and direct all by himself and audience was “treated” to the man’s incurable narcissism which has now made him inconsequential. ‘Immateriality’ of many of these past stalwarts has relegated and confined them to ‘Marg Darshak Mandal’. A course is being charted for New India which is at a bigger level with bigger reach and longevity. Data on these new age superstars show the way it is done to establish the longest streak at the Bollywood top. Looking at future serving, their plate seems full and position safe for another 5 years until at least 2024 which is the next cycle. Until then let’s just hold horses, sit tight and enjoy these defunct as ‘Marg Darshak’ to Hindi cinema.

Bharat trailer launch: Salman Khan’s five looks to be unveiled before the grand launch

In the run-up to Bharat’s trailer launch, Salman Khan to release a series of posters displaying his five different looks in the film

The countdown to the trailer launch of Salman Khan’s Bharat began yesterday as he unveiled the first poster of the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed venture. The poster sees the superstar as an old man, replete with grey hair, facial fuzz and glasses. Now, mid-day has learnt that Khan has devised a special strategy to grab maximum eyeballs for his passion project — in the run-up to the promo launch on April 24, the team will release 10 posters over the next 10 days, each showcasing a different look of Khan, leading lady Katrina Kaif and other principal characters.

Says a trade source, “The film charts India’s journey from its independence in 1947 to 2010, as witnessed by Salman’s character Bharat. Both Salman and Katrina will sport five different looks as they age in the course of the narrative. Since there has been immense curiosity around their on-screen avatars, Salman suggested that each look be released individually. So, over the next five days, the team will unveil five posters, each depicting a decade of his life. While one sees him as a young acrobat in a circus, another has him as a middle-aged naval officer, and one more as a miner. This will be followed by a poster each of Katrina, Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover.”

Bharat Poster Featuring ‘Young’ Salman Khan Has An International Fan – Paris Hilton
In the latest poster of Bharat, Salman Khan appears as a daredevil stuntman of a circus

“Guess who thinks the latest poster of Bharat, featuring Salman Khan, is cool? Paris Hilton! Soon after Salman Khan shared the new poster, in which he features as the title character from the year 1964, Paris Hilton posted a ‘cool’ emoticon.

“….In 2014, Salman Khan and Paris Hilton attended Venkateshwara Hatcheries owner Balaji Rao’s birthday in Hyderabad after which several pictures of them dancing to Mika Singh’s live music trended on the Internet. At that time, Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan Sharma had also posted pictures of Paris Hilton wearing Salman’s lucky bracelet.”

I am responding to LIVEWIRE in regard to this provocative and dumb statement: And this will be my last one..

Romeo Walter Akbar, the rest of the box office

So, according to him, he got to my goats and hit it where it hurts the most! So, folks like saket, Jayshah, etc., etc., would also have been hit in the solar-plexus right?! I cannot imagine the stupidity of the sentences, the words, the so-called ‘real-world’ dynamics that have been put forth here.

I always used to feel Satyam was way-harsh on SRK or SK fans — and that he should not categorize these folks as some indulging in bad-faith debate. Now I realize, very late, actually, that THIS’S the kind of treatment they deserve; because they are arguing very dis-honestly!!

So Amitabh, Hassan, are all immaterial and their films post-60 are ‘immaterial’ according to the resident statistician: Lo and behold, unfortunately, BADLA grosses close to 80 crores; an ‘immaterial’ film with only 4-5 characters and typically characterized as a chamber-drama with universally acknowledged performance from Bachchan at age 76.

So this is the person that posts a stupid article about Aamir having a bastard-child! Who cares? This is the person who is the first to post ANYTHING anti-Vivek Oberoi!? Why? You figure…In spite of the fact that he maintained his class and took the so-called journalist Rajdeep Sardesai to the clearers..

You Sir, are a contrarian JUST because you fetish in being a CONTRARIAN. None of the articles, the postings, are actually convincing and cerebrally contest anything. You just use popular figures like Amitabh or Sachin, pasting BS tweets from even more BS-iing people, just for controversies’ sake.

There’s absolute 0 CONTRIBUTION from you in enriching this blog; your agenda is revealed quite well when you paste articles of Aamir’s so-called illegitimate child; Who Cares? who said Aamir is a role model?

My suggestion will be not to get personal and clean up some of the hate bottled up there. The extra pegs you keep mentioning should have eased some of your pain or tensions in life….change the label 🙂 .

Now there is a stand up comedian on YouTube, Sanjay Rajoura a Jat from Ghaziabad who is a US returned / IT field professional and has a very good read for NRIs like you and me. Hear him out if you get time though I am not sure you will have guts to digest his raw philosophy and videos beyond a couple of minutes. He is gutsy and even went to Pakistan a month back and called them out esp Jinnah and Imran in front of Paki crowd. His take on the hate NRI generate is very true which surprises him – firstly because of the educated background of the NRIs and secondly how regular India is different and people living in India live in harmony. I am not sure which part of America you reside but if it’s Baltimore or the adjoining industrial areas which you had mentioned some time back,I suggest try to relocate to get a new perspective and sense of real America to life…..in short ease up 🙂

Yes I have had issues as to why Sachin / Bachchan treated as holy cows here and keep getting free pass to whatever they do. Till today even after all those litigation /court cases won by Bachchan, few unanswered question will remain on Bofors…. as to why Ajitabh suddenly decided to relocate and move with all bags/baggage to Sweden which is where Bofors originated . Abhi’s schooling in that zone, the Rajiv Gandhi – Sonia Italian angle. These connections are well laid out by Late Atal Vajpayee videos on YouTube and they are all pertinent questions. Check them out if you are inclined that way. All those in / out of Sahara dealings – Amar Singh angle – Anil Ambani to the Panama leaks are all a free pass which is troubling ….My comments will be never ending if we start to talk about each of these in details. (I have done this in the past at regular intervals)

Coming back to movies I continue to believe, Bachchan is now irrelevant to bollywood and has been so for last 20-25 years in real terms. We are in 2019 and a Kalank or Kesari will be discussed more than a Badlaa and that is a fact one cannot deny. His tweets recently to srk attest to that fact. I always maintain he was a formidable lead, a phenomena until late 80s/ early 90s and unparalleled but from Jaadugar / GJS / Toofan onward it’s been going through the motions on screen and ups and downs don’t matter much as long as he follows the routine and keeps him available. He is phenomenally talented and will remain on top of any Bollywood list ever prepared. But hear me out when i compare a superlative and natural cool act of Don with a very hammy Agneepath in same genre to see where I am coming from…..His TV / ad stint is even better and one must commend his discipline and dedication to continue to act as many get exhausted or take to other passions. Tbh he did try politics, went on to do a business and then spent time pushing his son but never succeeded in any so came back to doing what he does best. This gives him the anchor to keep going till he departs to the other side. On the roles offered if not him then an Anupam Kher or Nana or even Naseer would fit who are technically sounder in terms of craft….but his preeminence, awe and stature helps to connect faster and deeper and is inarguable. But as I said there is an expiry date to everything. I wrote earlier why BJP party relegated its founding members like Vajpayee & Advani as ‘Marg Darshak Mandal’ for a reason to let loose firebrand politics of Modi to chart a course for a new India. If one is accepting that as a normal way of succession then a Salman or for that matter whoever comes next and does his own thing in his own signature style at the top should be easily digestible.

      • I don’t support Trump as such but he has done what the Americans need at this point in time for the job assigned to him. I have since early days talked about his ‘appointment’ for a job at hand and take the required turn for the Americans keeping the parameters Americans had set for the world. They had to do few things out of the box and he is a perfect fit for that. I have posted few articles 2-3 years back how Chinese due to gigantic leaps are the real targets for the Americans and why Chinese-Russian collaboration would doom them further ( Chinese still lack the highest technological know how /ingenuity in terms of arms development) which Russians can easily pave the way for them. With Trump in more ways than others Americans have given Russia the impression that they have a US President on their side and they keep flirting with them either to buy time or to de clutch them from China or other such possible dangers. Russians hacking / sypware is simply too dangerous and a simple hacking could harm the American systems/ businesses without even detonating a single bomb and Americans need them on their side. Just yesterday The Weather Channel got knocked off air by ‘malicious software attack’ which is a big thing but kept low on the news. l have also shared my comments on how the Americans / Chinese in general will use India and Pak in the equation and now with Pak clearly in the Chinese gang battle lines are pretty clear now though Americans will always be wary of Pak as they are not as dumb as the Arabs and will play their own games and Americans will keep humoring them from time to time…..its all a complex web of world politics but we all need to have some perspective as we comment here is all i say……

Since I now reside in America and my bread butter is here I see Trump making a lot of difference to my world of living and future of my family / kids and all that is working in a good way, so I will give him the due for keeping America ahead from the rest of the world and safeguarding its interest……….I don’t know what all I have typed here but let me post nonetheless…. Enough for today Happy Easter weekend all!

    • Yes Sanjana and Saket. I have realized it late and fallen prey to it. I will surely stay away. I have been staying away from talking to this ‘person’, but what finally got my goat was the relentless, deliberate attack of his now suddenly including Madhuri in the ‘hamminess’ brigade after AB. This is quite rich, coming from being a fan of a non-actor. The Guru, as is in the most cases, seems to be wiser than the chelas.

The comparison of AB in DON to AB in Agneepath is so, so ridiculous I don’t even know where to start: Every nuance, every parameter like the director, milieu, time, intention is thrown away to the winds! AGNEEPATH was literally a violent remake of DEEWAR with AB playing Vijay the complete opposite of DEEWAR. Guess such nuances are lost on people. No surprise at all here. Such kind of statements have been very revealing and really have exposed the agenda as a faux-contrarian; a contrarian just filling in for the dictionary meaning – never in action.

The re-posting of BADLA’s tweets are so, so immature that one can only laugh at them: AB has a history of disagreeing with producers including an issue as trivial as wearing a blazer in Shahenshah as mentioned by Tinnu Anand. And remember, the cheapness of this situation, he posted the tweet even after the fact that he had talked of AB’s immateriality, not before!! Whatever ‘corruption’ AB has indulged in, the courts will take care of it; Panama, Boforts or add XYZ to the list….Amitabh is NO role-model to me; he is merely an artist I am a big fan of. I will definitely be disappointed if he turns out to be a corrupt person, mainly looking at his conduct in public, aided by the fact that he paid back to Canara Bank whatever he owed even though he had the easier option of shutting up his sick company and starting a new life. There are things I hate about him, and things I like about him; I envy his passion at this age to keep working — relegated to miracles of medicine; as described by you in another one of your barbs — and not taking the profession lightly.

I have lived in 12 places in my 10 years of stay here; including the so-called ‘real’ America. I have lived for 5 years in the bible belt: I don’t need lectures from you or your ilk about staying in America and being ‘protected’ by a surrogate father like the tramp Trump. And if I can write a review on ZERO facing the opposition of almost 99% of this blog, including Aamir fans, I can very well digest whatever the fish your promoted comedian says; so don’t need your advice on that.

May you and your kids enjoy the ‘protection’  of the job-doer Trump, and I mean it with all good-will, and no sarcasm.

I will no longer continue this dishonest, ‘bad-faith’ conversation with the likes of you. May God bless you…and hopefully you will tighten up. Unlike you, I do believe in ‘Swacch Bharat‘ and don’t wish to mess up this blog with useless talks to a stone…

I pretty much knew you were going to respond because the hate within is not easily suppressed and it’s been coming my way from you for a few years now. Even visiting & posting at sanitized Rangan blog could not suppress your propensity to engage in mudslinging because this is what you are and enjoy 🙂 :-).
Your responses continue proving pot calling the kettle black. I will continue to comment the way I feel about public faces / figures and they will never be out of bounds here. Until of course if it does not suit the politics of this blog and I am debarred from posting. It’s up to blog owners / members to take that call.

Bachchan or any other big guns in India milking the system is nothing new and textbooks can be written on the changing dynamics of white collar crimes in India with not even a ‘single’ holy cow…just none ! An evidence keep popping at regular intervals and Indian pubic is known to be selective is my assertion all the time. Today we refer our media as ‘Godi’ media because they have so many corrupt practices within their own system that they don’t have the balls to take on a govt or entity to clean up our system. Mind you this includes the so called ‘civilized’ NDTV a known liberal outlet but has corrupted corporates like Prannoy Roy masquerading as journalists.

Holding a complete a.hole like Vivek Oberoi in high esteem is the lowest one can ethically think…..That fckers name is synonym with opportunism and licking balls in public. I just wrote a comment with evidence that it freakin took nearly 15 years for this guy to come on public forum and continue asking for forgiveness and ‘Time” has taught him that lesson .This type of corrupt bastards are easily what ails our present system.

Re responding to ‘only’ your barbs we regularly teach our kids difference between a ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ when they are with strangers. Similarly it’s very easy to decode a ‘good faith’ and a ‘bad faith’ discussion. To you I have from time to time given sufficient evidence of all the theatrical, hammy scenes of Bachchan and will now continue to talk about Mrs. Nene since she is back to being a public figure now. Fortunately until now the paying public relates to my tastes and keeps rejecting these idiocies at the box office. I rant about ‘immateriality’ because a Varun bankrupting a Kjo is a much bigger deal today than a Bachchan doing same with an Aag, Buddha Tera Baap and numerous other crap fest to put RGV out of business.

On my kids thanks for your concerns. I did not migrate to America for a Trump and his new found ethos is not what built America’s foundation. This is what I keep referring here that if Trump like figures were in power in America for last 200 odd years it wouldn’t be what it is today……Even with Trump at the helm the country’s law&Order, judiciary (a basic necessity for a society to function) remains firm, solid to core where common man can continue to live and earn their living with dignity – where people have a different, just different perspective about what life is and how we should live it.sure some people will be very vocal about showing their displeasure about your way of life, but you can be of any race, follow any religion, speak any language, look however different still, in United States of America you will be treated as equal, as a citizen, as a person. you can be ugly, fat, dorky, disabled or just awkward, still you will have equal rights as anyone else and you will be treated as anyone else. this is one thing that truly, Truly sets Americans apart from the Europeans and rest of the world.

Further to my earlier comment on the age factor with superstars, Don is part of the youthful state of mind…vigor of the emotions and freshness which is not easily replicated….Agneepath nuances be damned, everything was loud, excessively overdone and the whole cast obnoxious and the movie was rightfully rejected by the regular moviegoers. As to winning a national award, time and again it has been proven these are bought and sold by the powers-that-be and regime at the helm.

I personally know some lucky women who dont age much compared to other women. When these women stand with their teenage daughters, they more or less look like siblings. And they exchange their dresses too. It all depends on genes, health, lifestyle and luck. Some with baby faces like late Sridevi can easily cheat their looks and age. The first signs of visible ageing are face, eyes, skin and then the figure. The freshness of youth maybe absent but otherwise nothing changes much for some years. Some grey can be concealed by dyeing.
I will not ask you to agree with me because your experience maybe different.

  34. Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat is being talked about, especially for how it will show Salman Khan as an ageing man, over several decades. But it is not just Salman, even his co-star Katrina Kaif will be seen growing old in the film and she has undergone a drastic transformation for the portions of the film that show her as an old woman. It took her two hours daily to get ready with all the prosthetics, her stylist has revealed.

Katrina’s stylist, Veera Kapur, told Mid Day in an interview that the look is inspired by Bollywood actors of the ‘60s and ‘70s, including Nutan. “We watched many old films and looked at images of yesteryear Bollywood actresses, like Nutan. Katrina also loved the idea of having curls. She thought it would create an image different from her previous characters,” she told the tabloid.

Elaborating on how Katrina’s looks were changed for the parts where she will be seen as older woman, she said “We used prosthetics to show the ageing process. While Katrina sports a chiselled jawline in the younger portions, we made it less defined as the story progressed. In the latter portions, you can see her with fuller cheeks, under-eye wrinkles and grey hair. It would take us about two hours to attain the look. We also conveyed her maturity by the use of different fabrics. In the young portions, she is seen wearing delicate chiffon sarees, and as the character ages, she gravitates towards deep-hued cotton sarees.”
