Why Akshay Kumar fans are super cool about the controversy with the actor?
Brouhaha was created by Aamir Khan Fans when he was trolled by few for his statement made on TV. 100s of Aamir fans took it as an insult and fought for months among themselves and with few of the faceless trolls.
Similar self trolling was done in the past by SRK fans as well when Americans searched him at the airport, much to the amazement of others. The publicity stunt also had a communal touch which damaged the Khan brand.
But Akshay Kumar fans are super cool. The star is at the peak of his career and he has managed the reply in the most sensible manner. His fans are relaxed because they know others are only chansing the No 1 star.
Previous No 1 stars had unleashed trolls even on Satyamshot. They ignorantly ranted about Aamir being a nationalist which everyone knew he is.
Akshay kumar has not done anything similar. It comes from being in control and not having self-doubt.
Other stars and their fans have to again learn from this. Brouhaha sounds as stupid as it is. Isnât it?

Student Of The Year 2 took an average of opening of around 20-25%. Its a good start for the economics of the film as it does not have a big budget but its the next release after Baaghi 2 when Tiger Shroff smashed the box office and because of his presence the expectations are probably there for a better start.
The opening in the multiplexes is pretty much in the range of a Total Dhamaal but the collections in Central India and Gujarat are well short of Total Dhamaal. The film is not in the zone of a Baaghi 2 and even though it might have action in it, the film is more of a college musical romance which limits that mass audience. Tiger Shroff has a huge following in CP, Nizam, Maharashtra and East India which could be second to Salman Khan only but this film probably holds less appeal for them which could be reflected in the figures. It will be interesting to see at what levels the mass circuits come in at.
This will probably leave the film as more of a multiplex film and dependent on the growth over the weekend. There is a big IPL match today which could affect collections. The collections were hit of all films on Tuesday which saw a big match. The film opened on around 2000 theatres with 3100 screens.

Student Of The Year 2 had decent first day as it grossed in the 11-12 crore nett range. The film will cross the 11 crore nett mark and may even go to 12 crore nett depending on where the collections land in the mass circuits. Its a solid number for the costs of the film but has no comparison to what the last Tiger Shroff film did on the opening day.
Tiger Shroff films normally outperform in the likes of CP Berar, Assam, Odisha, Nizma / Andhra due to the action and although this film is in a slightly different zone but still the figures at these places could be better than expected. On the other side some places of these areas could be affected by Ramadan especially Nizam / Andhra.
The collections did slow a little in the evening due to the IPL match at the big multiplexes and this happened on Tuesday as well but the affect will be just 5% and the film can make it up on Saturday. The film will need to show an uptrend on Saturday and multiplexes could show a jump in business.

Student Of The Year showed around 15% growth on its second day as it collected around 13.50 crore nett on Saturday to take its lifetime total to over 25 crore nett. The film would be in a better position if the growth was in the 20-30% range but its is an upward trend nevertheless so it ensures a decent first weekend.
The film has grown around 25% at multiplexes while business in the smaller centres is down especially where it opened better. But the circuit figures are generally higher or flat barring the Bihars and Odishas where there is a limited multiplex presence. The bigger circuits of Mumbai and Delhi / UP have decent growth of around 20%.
The film is probably looking at a 40 crore nett plus weekend and then it will be down to the Monday and what sort of number it can get.

Woah! That is a lot of news in one and also quite star studded we had say! Rohit Shetty aims to make his production with Farah Khan grand and if sources are to be believed, the filmmaker has already kicked off on his ambitious project, which is said to be a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan â Hema Malini starrer Satte Pe Satta and locked in the cast. Well, considering that it is going to be extensive, it hardly comes as a surprise that the director-producer was keen on Bollywood bigwigs and now sources have it that he has finalized Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif as the lead pair of the film.
If the news is true, Katrina Kaif will reunite with Shah Rukh Khan for the third time after the recent release Zero and the 2012 release Jab Tak Hai Jaan. A source close to the project said, âFarah Khan always loves to work with Shah Rukh Khan. And she thinks what better way to make a comeback after Happy New Year. She has been keen on working with the actor since a while now and feels that this will be a good opportunity. Rohit is absolutely on board with the idea. And Farah has always liked Katrina and is quite comfortable her. The two actors have shown keen interest on the script and they are yet to sign on the dotted line. So if all goes well, the four of them will come together for the first time.â
The film in question will be a remake of the 70s cult film Satte Pe Satta which starred Amitabh Bachchan in a double role along with Hema Malini as the leading lady and a host of other actors. Besides Shah Rukh and Katrina, the source mentioned that the makers are looking for other actors who will be playing the role of the supporting cast. An official announcement is yet to be made on these details!
Remakes and sequels are now the way to go for KHANS.
Pressure for high grossers will kill the creativity. None of the three are daring to start a fresh project with new ideas. It is a pity as they are in a position to do wonders.

Avengers – Endgame Doubles Up On Third Saturday

Avengers – Endgame doubled up on its third Saturday to collected 5.50 crore nett and it is now among the top five all films across India on all formats in terms of NETT business with collections of 342 crore nett plus. The films ahead of its are Bahubali – The Conclusion, Bahubali – The Beginning, 2.0 and Dangal. It will not reach the numbers of these four films.
This now means that there is only one Hindi film among the top five and it will be no surprise if in a few years time there are no Hindi films unless the game is upped with better and larger cinema. Avengers Endgame cross the 400 crore gross mark on Saturday also making it the 10th film in India to hit this number. The collections of Avengers – Endgame till date are as follows.

Student Of The Year got hit on Sunday due to IPL final which turned out to be a tight match and cinemas in Delhi remaining shut till the evening due to elections. The film will have a drop in collections of around 10% and collect in the 12-12.50 crore nett range. This will take the film to around 37.50 crore nett for the first three days but with everything being normal it would have done around 40 crore nett.
The other releases have also been hit on Sunday but they are holdovers and most of the business has been done and if Sunday growth does not come then it does not really matter while its a different story for this film. Student of The Year 2 will have to cover this 2-3 crore loss over the weekdays but it remains to seen whether it can as the Saturday trend was not bad but it was not good either.
There are areas like Gujarat and Eastern India which have shown growth on Sunday but most other pasts have been affected one way or the other.
A Myanmar pilot saved the day after his aircraftâs landing gear failed, forcing the jet into an emergency landing with no front wheels on Sunday morning, an official said.
Avengers – Endgame had a solid third weekend with collections of 13,75 crore nett which takes its total to 348.50 crore nett. The film would have seen 30% plus growth on Sunday if it was not for IPl final and elections which would have take it to 350 crore nett. Still the loss here on Sunday hardly matters as the job was done long time back for the film.
This drops are there but as the film is coming of such high levels the collections themselves are still pretty good. It is probably heading for another 70% plus drop in week three and the lifetime number for the film is probably looking to be 365 crore nett now which is a 60% gain in NETT collections from the last film though footfalls will be just 20% more. The collections of Avengers – Endgame till date are as follows.

Student Of The Year 2 dropped 55% on Monday as it collected 5.25-5.50 crore nett apprx. The collections have dropped more than they should have but it could have been worse as it looked the film would just about get over 4 crore nett in the afternoon.
The film has now collected around 43 crore nett in four days and the week should be able to go to 55 crore nett or more. The Monday total ensures it will not cover the ground that it lost on Sunday but it could still end up an Average fare depending on how the film goes in the second week.
The bigger drops have come in the multiplexes of North which were affected by the elections on Sunday but the markets are just not covering the lost ground. Delhi city and East Punjab are down with UP holding collections at around 50% down from Friday. The holds are better in places like Gujarat and CP Berar.
Student of The Year 2 dropped 55% on Monday which means it has dropped more than normal but a 5 crore nett plus total on Monday is still pretty decent and it depends if the can continue with these average collections into the second week.
The drop is mainly in Delhi and Punjab while other places have dropped less. The public has not really liked the film but the collections are just about hanging on and if the film sees a bigger than normal drop over next few days it may even struggle to do AVERAGE business.
Andhadhun with a blind man as a protagonist has worked. Kaabil is also a story of blind man plus revenge angle like Mom which is also working well. Let us see.
I think Kaabil might have worked better in India minus the psychologically affecting rape scenes of a helpless blind girl. Found it utterly disturbing for a commercial masala potboiler. Hritik was fab, though.
history says that films based on Rape-revenge theme fail in India – maybe a rare exception can be there! Mom, Kaabil…were recent entries in the long list there…one reason cud be that we read almost daily about rapes in newspaper, hear about that on media – so ppl really dont want to be told the same thing again in films….unless one is Rohit Shetty and mixes up that serious subject nicely in a potboiler like Simbaa….

Student Of The Year showed around 15% growth on its second day as it collected around 13.50 crore nett on Saturday to take its lifetime total to over 25 crore nett. The film would be in a better position if the growth was in the 20-30% range but its is an upward trend nevertheless so it ensures a decent first weekend.
The film has grown around 25% at multiplexes while business in the smaller centres is down especially where it opened better. But the circuit figures are generally higher or flat barring the Bihars and Odishas where there is a limited multiplex presence. The bigger circuits of Mumbai and Delhi / UP have decent growth of around 20%.
The film is probably looking at a 40 crore nett plus weekend and then it will be down to the Monday and what sort of number it can get.

Satte Pe Satta Remake: Shah Rukh Khan â Katrina Kaif may come together again for this Rohit Shetty, Farah Khan film?

Woah! That is a lot of news in one and also quite star studded we had say! Rohit Shetty aims to make his production with Farah Khan grand and if sources are to be believed, the filmmaker has already kicked off on his ambitious project, which is said to be a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan â Hema Malini starrer Satte Pe Satta and locked in the cast. Well, considering that it is going to be extensive, it hardly comes as a surprise that the director-producer was keen on Bollywood bigwigs and now sources have it that he has finalized Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif as the lead pair of the film.
If the news is true, Katrina Kaif will reunite with Shah Rukh Khan for the third time after the recent release Zero and the 2012 release Jab Tak Hai Jaan. A source close to the project said, âFarah Khan always loves to work with Shah Rukh Khan. And she thinks what better way to make a comeback after Happy New Year. She has been keen on working with the actor since a while now and feels that this will be a good opportunity. Rohit is absolutely on board with the idea. And Farah has always liked Katrina and is quite comfortable her. The two actors have shown keen interest on the script and they are yet to sign on the dotted line. So if all goes well, the four of them will come together for the first time.â
The film in question will be a remake of the 70s cult film Satte Pe Satta which starred Amitabh Bachchan in a double role along with Hema Malini as the leading lady and a host of other actors. Besides Shah Rukh and Katrina, the source mentioned that the makers are looking for other actors who will be playing the role of the supporting cast. An official announcement is yet to be made on these details!

Pressure for high grossers will kill the creativity. None of the three are daring to start a fresh project with new ideas. It is a pity as they are in a position to do wonders.

Avengers – Endgame doubled up on its third Saturday to collected 5.50 crore nett and it is now among the top five all films across India on all formats in terms of NETT business with collections of 342 crore nett plus. The films ahead of its are Bahubali – The Conclusion, Bahubali – The Beginning, 2.0 and Dangal. It will not reach the numbers of these four films.
This now means that there is only one Hindi film among the top five and it will be no surprise if in a few years time there are no Hindi films unless the game is upped with better and larger cinema. Avengers Endgame cross the 400 crore gross mark on Saturday also making it the 10th film in India to hit this number. The collections of Avengers – Endgame till date are as follows.

Student Of The Year got hit on Sunday due to IPL final which turned out to be a tight match and cinemas in Delhi remaining shut till the evening due to elections. The film will have a drop in collections of around 10% and collect in the 12-12.50 crore nett range. This will take the film to around 37.50 crore nett for the first three days but with everything being normal it would have done around 40 crore nett.
The other releases have also been hit on Sunday but they are holdovers and most of the business has been done and if Sunday growth does not come then it does not really matter while its a different story for this film. Student of The Year 2 will have to cover this 2-3 crore loss over the weekdays but it remains to seen whether it can as the Saturday trend was not bad but it was not good either.
There are areas like Gujarat and Eastern India which have shown growth on Sunday but most other pasts have been affected one way or the other.

Avengers – Endgame had a solid third weekend with collections of 13,75 crore nett which takes its total to 348.50 crore nett. The film would have seen 30% plus growth on Sunday if it was not for IPl final and elections which would have take it to 350 crore nett. Still the loss here on Sunday hardly matters as the job was done long time back for the film.
This drops are there but as the film is coming of such high levels the collections themselves are still pretty good. It is probably heading for another 70% plus drop in week three and the lifetime number for the film is probably looking to be 365 crore nett now which is a 60% gain in NETT collections from the last film though footfalls will be just 20% more. The collections of Avengers – Endgame till date are as follows.

Student Of The Year 2 dropped 55% on Monday as it collected 5.25-5.50 crore nett apprx. The collections have dropped more than they should have but it could have been worse as it looked the film would just about get over 4 crore nett in the afternoon.
The film has now collected around 43 crore nett in four days and the week should be able to go to 55 crore nett or more. The Monday total ensures it will not cover the ground that it lost on Sunday but it could still end up an Average fare depending on how the film goes in the second week.
The bigger drops have come in the multiplexes of North which were affected by the elections on Sunday but the markets are just not covering the lost ground. Delhi city and East Punjab are down with UP holding collections at around 50% down from Friday. The holds are better in places like Gujarat and CP Berar.

The drop is mainly in Delhi and Punjab while other places have dropped less. The public has not really liked the film but the collections are just about hanging on and if the film sees a bigger than normal drop over next few days it may even struggle to do AVERAGE business.

Andhadhun with a blind man as a protagonist has worked. Kaabil is also a story of blind man plus revenge angle like Mom which is also working well. Let us see.

I think Kaabil might have worked better in India minus the psychologically affecting rape scenes of a helpless blind girl. Found it utterly disturbing for a commercial masala potboiler. Hritik was fab, though.

history says that films based on Rape-revenge theme fail in India – maybe a rare exception can be there! Mom, Kaabil…were recent entries in the long list there…one reason cud be that we read almost daily about rapes in newspaper, hear about that on media – so ppl really dont want to be told the same thing again in films….unless one is Rohit Shetty and mixes up that serious subject nicely in a potboiler like Simbaa….

Another Milestone For Aamir Khan In China; Taare Zameen Par To Be Remade!
The project is currently in the process and will be produced by Chinese local banner and will be directed by Ma Duo.
Taare Zameen Par was one of the nine Indian films to be showcased with English subtitles in China during the 60th anniversary of Indo-China diplomatic ties. Also despite being officially released in the country, the movie is amongst the most pirated movies playing in China. The movie was also attempted to release with Mandarin subtitles.
The source added, âBut China does not permit the release of foreign films that are older than two years so that move was scuttled. But since the film rides on universal emotions, a collective decision of remaking it with a local star cast was taken recently,â reports Mumbai Mirror.

The period drama revolves around the rise of a Chola King and Ashâs role is that of his rivalâs manipulative wife who makes devious plans against the good king to bring him down. Now, that is something which is completely out of character for Ash and therefore, it would be fun to see what Ratnam brings out in her on screen.
The movie will be based on the novel Ponniyin Selvan and is on the life and times of Arulmozhi Varman, the Chola emperor. The film is set in the 10th century.
