Haha…Have reduced cinema going a lot now. But still manage to see all event films (Hindi & English) in theatre. Have few friends who join in case family is not interested. Rest in satellites.
Star Wars is next. Despite the average reviews, cannot miss it.
Munna, Why is referring to Akshay by his current nationality considered derogatory that you have edited the same? Are you a Canadian and that comment offended you?
Personally, I don’t have problem. But not on site.
What do you want to achieve by calling Akshay as Canadian ? Do you call Aamir – Muslim? or Hrithik – Hindu?
Once or twice I could let it pass but not on regular basis. Actors have name, please use it.
It will be interesting to see how Soryavanshi does. Rohit Shetty has positioned it as a franchise film in his cop universe with the teaser trailers. This is a big film for a change for Akshay. Last year Mission Mangal and Good Newwz were small films which did 200 cr or so and were superhits or blockbusters or what have you. Housefull 4 was a bigger film than those and considering all the over-reporting perhaps did around 180-190 cr. Overall it was a success. And Kesari was a small hit at 150 cr, which is what a flop from aamir or salman does at this point of time (TOH, Dabangg 3, Race 3, etc).
But Sooryavanshi is a different ballgame and a bigger film by all means. It shud deliver at Tanhaji level (275-280 cr) to be a superhit. If well accepted it may crack 300 cr like War did last year and be a blockbuster that Akshay needs to be fully accepted in the highest league of stardom. Minimally, it shud surpass Simmba (240 cr) to be considered a Hit. Else a commission earner like Housefull 4.
Wont be around to watch all the fun though. Have some issues to sort out over next few months. Dont think i will have time to keep up with bollywood news. Will catch up later at some point.
This looks like a lazily cut trailor…just some random action shots…no punch at all….and in the end just getting Simba and Singham to help the main hero is so convenient..I had same issue with Simba…The whole Singham angle was just too convenient. Shetty is better off making a proper movie with three heros rather than making a movie about one cops heroism and then suddenly getting help from some random other cop to help him in the end. Its sort of dishonest I think.
And I think I might be one of the biggest Rohit shetty fan here
I hope the movie is lot better than the trailer. There’s no flow or anything in the trailer and this one looks way over the top.
I think it will do amazing business in maharastra circuit but not sure how well it will do everywhere else, i think this one will not reach War collection.
Quite surprising. They go bonkers for such kind of movie. Full promoting Baaghi 3 now. But nothing for this..not even negative tweet about this which is surprising.
They are probably disappointed. Kadel is throwing the lowest totals for Thappad as if he got his predictions wrong based on his reviews he’d lose his credibility. With this movie obviously they expect big things so staying quiet seems easiest option.
Both of them didn’t get trailer link to promote on twitter. They are upset that the marketing team ignored them but shared it to other twitter journos!
Theatres and crowded trains are fertile grounds for CV to spread quickly from person to person. And theatres are like planes with closed dorrs and no fresh air from outside.Fortunately the virus is slow and it is in dying stages. And people are recovering also.
Meh…did not like it much in first view.
Looks to be a collection of 4 one-minute promos combined into one. If i consider my opinion then 300 Cr can be ruled out now.
Not sure if i am in minority because the social media is going gaga over this trailer. Is it because they are starved?
The Sooryavanshi entry scene in Simba itself was under-whelming. The trailer carries that feel forward. IMHO, the main culprit is Akshay’s dialog delivery here. Very flat, no voice projection/emotion etc. He had to do a RR or Khakee, but seems to have approached this with a Baby template. RS perhaps is banking on his ever reliable stunt sequences, with the Mumbai background.
Well Baby was a far superior film compared to a filthy disgusting RR, although in the Shetty universe a Baby might not fit in entirely. Only time will tell whether Shetty’s opted for a Neeraj Pandey narrative or is this a mash of both.
Good point NyKavi, was thinking samething that this looks lot like Baby part 2, it’s not until Ranveer and Devgan entry that you get sense of it being singham franchise.
Things can go heywire when too many cooks are involved (Dilwale)
I hope rohit stays true to his craft and not try to make it too smart of a movie, at the same time I think this will be his most over the top movie with at least 3 over the top, extremely loud music entry.
Amusing to see Shetty fans who want Shetty to remain Shetty and continue making Sh(i)tty films like Golmaal and Simbaa without evolving into a more refined cinematic zone by merging content and entertainment in equal measure like Sooryavanshi looks like. There is no harm in emulating a solid film like Baby and I’d rather have a film maker take inspiration from Baby than corrosive single screen pukeworthy junk like Lousy Rathore. As of now Rohit Shetty seems to the antithesis of Anurag Kashyap (both equally trashy in opposite extremes), but I do hope Sooryavanshi changes that.

I will watch it too. Shetty’s movies have always been entertaining for me.
And I believe he has reached a stage where people can just walk into any theatre screening “A Rohit Shetty Film” irrespective of the actors.
This has the potential to become Akki’s highest grossing film till date.
