In the kidnapping. if no ransom call within 2 days, revenge on parents motive should have been explored followed by doubting the parents themselves. But the Delhi cops did no such thing.

There was no benefit of them relocating the entire premise to New Delhi instead could have remained in Mumbai. Only what they achieved was the Baju joke in the discussion among the sub inspectors.

I was hoping that they have further turns in the finale with Gayatri being the MPD version of Abha. That would have been quite a twist. Also J should have been played by another similar looking actor till the finale.

In the Chef’s meeting that Kabir has with Abha at the hotel, he could have asked her “do you think Avinash is capable of hurting Siya? That could have scared Abha and she goes to check on Siya and Kabir could have followed her to get the secret location.

In the secret location Abha could have broken the glass mirror with a chair instead of trying to find the keys.

I was thinking the girl against whom Avinash testified initially would come back as the main antagonist for revenge but didn’t happen.

There was a fight in the prison in which there was a beefed up man. what was that for?

A few changes here and there could have made the series much more engrossing and realistic.

In a tweet today, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope announced that Aishwarya, who is married to Abhishek Bachchan, had tested positive as had the couple’s young daughter; Jaya Bachchan tested negative, Mr Tope announced – just minutes later, however, he deleted the tweet. Meantime, Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar said Aishwarya and Aaradhya had tested negative, news agency PTI reports. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek tested positive yesterday and are in Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. Cant understand how abha is so cold hearted as to actively assist in killing others and not feeling any substantial remorse. And she is not even punished. with a jail term.
The first death violence could have been less graphic.
Shruti Bapna who played Natasha Garewal was quite attractive and acted very well.
Breathe with Madhavan also depicted killings to save son’s life.
Some organ donors were put off by Breathe.
Your Honour also is the same trope of saving son.

    • Apologies if this sounds little harsh…

Nepotism has always been around, you can go back to the oldest days and find that king son is a prince. Not some ordinary joe/moe.

It’s really sad what happened to him but at some point you also have to look at beyond the easy target of picking out high caliber celebrity to put false on.

Here’s a guy who had a decent TV career, got a nice start with Kai Po che, got a film from Yash Raj, Dharma Production, VVC/Raju Hirani, etc. Life wasn’t all that bad. It’s not like you didn’t get a chance and wasn’t making a living. What does this mean for thousands who don’t even get a chance in TV serials. What about the person who didn’t get a chance to star in Kai Po Che because you already had a chance due to your TV career, that’s a form of nepotism. You were doing lot better than Jeetendra, Sunny deol, Anil Kapoor sons among many other.

Bullyism is disturbing and that could be in play here. But at that point, pack up and leave. Life is too precious to waste. Go back to your parents/family. No need to take your life for few losers…

          Like

        • Yes meant clinical depression and its totally different. Farmers suiciding or Siya Kakkar suicide is not depression, its spur of the moment to not handle a situation in life. If someone breaks up, you feel to do suicide, if you have no way out for paying back money and run out of options you feel to end your life. Clinical depression happens to even successful people. Deepika Padukone got it when she was climbing ladders and reaching top and not during her initial years. Sushant got it from last year end and Anthony Bourdain was in relationship and then shooting his fav thing in the world – the Unknown series and in between shooting days and alone in night, he hanged himself. He was perfectly fine the whole day and missed dinner and went and ended his life midnight without speaking to his current gf or anyone.

All of them keep getting thoughts to end your life and thoughts this is all meaningless, success is also meaningless. Most of them do get these thoughts once in a while and in depression you get very often. Best advise is not be ever alone and speak to someone. If you are alone very often, you will end up doing suicide like incase of SSR and Anthony.

Farmers dying is not depression, every suicide is not depression again. Most of them end their lives as there’s no easy way out.

        • SSR even in depression., if he was shooting a movie, it would have been fine to an extent. This lockdown for 3 plus months aided him to get more depressed and end his life as you have nothing else to do to divert yourself and you get the same thoughts again n again.

For the rest, lockdowns are nothing more than a way of demolishing basic human ethic and the ultimate society fabric. No pandemic in the past has evoked such a ridiculous response as this (thanks to the curse of technology, social media & fake science). I can only hope & prey common sense prevails & we get back to a semblance of humanity with civilized & safe measures of course (crowds of thousands at pubs & processions, classrooms with a 100 students is definitely not the way a civilized society functions but nor does it function by locking everyone up in their houses till eternity. In a binary world of 0’s & 1’s, left’s & right’s, heads & tails, the centrist would always be neglected).

Movie watching in cinemas is something akin to test cricket. Just like tests have survived the odi & t20 onslaught & continue to co exist carving a niche (like the recent eng wi test or last year’s ashes) cinemas too would co exist with digital & satellite media (just like they did with vcr’s & dvd era). In relative terms the theatrical footfalls have diminished over the decades wrt the national population but in absolute terms a 3cr+ footfall film was a Super hit in the 70’s & will continue being a Super hit even in the 2030’s when India’s population might go over 1.5 billion.

Mark my words, the pandemic would be past us in a year or 2 from now but the repercussions on socio-economic life & the global economic depression leading to loss of livelihoods would lead to a lot higher mortality over the next DECADE of not more. I’m not even getting into the psychological aspect of things.

Well, the fear psychosis cant be blamed for self created socio economic problems. Our economic problems are due to excessive consumerism and wrecklessness. No discipline. Plastic is destroying the environment. Greenhouse gases are leading to change in climate. Every nation is piling up weapons and advanced nations are creating situations where they are selling weapons to nations by offering fake concessions. Producing cars in lakhs on a daily basis when infrastructure remains abysmal. Giving precedence to industries over agriculture. The builders want every inch of earth. Piling up nuclear weapons by whipping up fear psychosis. . Humanity is already on the brink due to selfish individuals and their agendas.
The shrill clamour for return to economic madness is as bad as fear psychosis created by the pandemic. We want to close our eyes to uncomfortable realities and build sand castles. The pandemic is dismantling our sand castles and showing us the temporariness of our lives and aspirations.

Locking down & staying indoors permanently still does not feature in this scheme of things (unless someone wants to voluntarily do so, not by compulsions from rogue govts around the world). Although even indoors you might just get bitten by a Dengi virus & have the same consequence as that of a Corona, H1N1 influenza or measles virus.

Amusing that certain doomsday predictors on this forum & beyond call this the end of movie theatres but wouldn’t say the same about schools (for obvious reasons). Sooryavanshi is slated for Diwali & 83 for Xmas. Its high time the govt reopens theaters by Diwali, even if it means running at 5% occupancy. Kudos to Rohit Shetty & Kabir Khan for standing with the exhibitors & theater staff in this hour of need.

‘97% Mumbai parents against reopening schools’

    https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/mumbai/97-mumbai-parents-against-reopening-schools/article32132717.ece

In absence of physical classes, 88% want institutions to revise fee structure: survey
An overwhelming 97% of parents in Mumbai are opposed to the idea of reopening schools in the city anytime soon, according to a survey by LocalCircles, a community social media platform.

Over 10,500 parents — 61% men and 39% women — took the survey, which sought their opinion on the right time to allow children to return to schools. While 26% of respondents said physical classes should begin only after a vaccine for COVID-19 is found, 33% said students should stay away from school till there are no new cases in Mumbai and its 20-km radius.

No wonder we haven’t gotten the pandemic under control yet despite 4 months of lockdown while our European counterparts go about their lives with business as usual with safety precautions & discipline (including reopening of schools). I don’t see schools reopening in India till next academic year May/June even if cases are down to 2 digits by November and/or if we get effective treatment or a vaccine by Jan.

  49. Coronavirus: Mumbai’s Ganeshotsav likely to be a muted affair
While some organisers are postponing the celebrations to next year in February, others are planning to bring small idols, but with minimum or no celebrations.

For instance, the Khetwadi Ganpati organisers, who usually make Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations a grand affair, have decided to go with a small Ganesh ideal. Five people will be responsible for offering puja while maintaining social distancing.

However, there will be no musical instruments, lightings or even gatherings. The Ganesh idols will be immersed in water inside the pandal in drums.

Mumbaikars await for Ganesh Chaturthi with much eagerness every year, but the coronavirus crisis has spoilt all their plans for this year. With the highest number of cases in Mumbai, it is unlikely that Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with the same grandeur this year.

Muted Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai will also have deep economic consequences as it offers temporary employment to many individuals.

    • I read whole thread..I am not sure how you can be unlucky that none of them was reasonable?

Well there are two ways to marry, either find yourself or parents will find it for you. Other options would be not to marry.

I have met fair share of NRI people in last two decades; people have quirks but mostly reasonable. Things could be complex when parents come into picture.

And yes people go to vacation in India for 2-3 weeks and they to find some match. Now you may feel commodity but other way is also true. If guy says that you have rejected so many, I am commodity for you.

Marriages don’t work like that, you have to adjust.

    • Agree , it works both ways however it is kind of harder on the girl always.
Although a friend’s friend went to India for two-three weeks and got married , the girl was having an affair but married under pressure.

Nepotism is a way of life in many of the world’s societies, esp in South Asia. A businessman would almost always want his sons/daughters to carry forward his legacy than involve outsiders. Ditto for politicians, sportspersons, journalists etc. Heck I’ve witnessed nepotism even in the Army & the Air Force (requests for back door entries). Targeting the film industry alone for something so ingrained & deep rooted at a societal level is a bit unfair in my opinion. That being said, certain habits of bigwigs to deliberately shun outsiders despite being proven performers would obviously harm the industry in more ways than one.

    • nepotism happens everywhere but it becomes much more pronounced in film industry because of high threshold to make a movie (money, knowledge, connections). In other professions there are more options for a new comer. You can ignore nepotism but high threshold makes a cartel where whistleblower activities are nipped at bud. I don’t think only people named in MeToo are only culprits but list is manifold but no one would come and talk because their career and reputation would be ruined. It works at many level apart from getting roles, negative campaign (twitter trend it is a bad movie, Box office manipulation, blind items).

    • Great comment @shivaay. Again I feel we are missing trees for the forest. Rocky has posted Harinder Sikka’s tweet and Saket has posted tweets about Kangana. It is a debate beyond this. Getting a chance in the industry by being an insider is not at all a question. As you said, this happens in all fields. But the issue is regarding systemic blocking of talent and driving them to despair. As Kangana mentioned, folks are aware of what can and cannot damage your career! So by slapping a case, you can be rid of contracts and endorsements! Half the job is done! If a successful actor like SSR goes through this, I shudder to think what a newcomer acting as an extra amidst 20 background dancers goes through.

I do support Kangana but yes she has to be called in and asked for proofs regarding the accusations she makes; otherwise she’s only going to damage her reputation. As it is, with this interview, she has sealed her fate. It’s not at all going to be easy for her working in Bombay. Just like anyone of us, she’s not a black and white person and is morally gray. But that doesn’t mean whatever she’s saying doesn’t have some semblance of truths. The difference between Kangana removing Sonu Sood or the director of MANIKARNIKA and her views on nepotism and blocking talents is vast! A director, an actor, can be highly egoistic. We talk of the greatness of Raj Kapoor. In real life, he was despicable. You can get information as to how he used to treat women – merely as people with breasts. Does that take away from his greatness as an artist? Tolstoy was a horrible husband but can you take away the fact he wrote a bloody 3000 odd page brilliant Anna Karenina? Raj Kapoor once called Dilip Kumar at the height of Dilip’s success to his home, had him drunk, and when passed out, thrown him into a gutter and called media to take pics. So trying to put Kangana in a bad light because of her obvious deficiencies isn’t fair. By just painting Kangana with our own moral paint-brushes, it doesn’t undo the fact that such bullying exists in the industry.

I am soul-shattered that somebody as talented and as gifted as Gulzar Saab changed the climax of Raazi to please the left-lobby and got an author bullied. I still do not want to believe it. But I don’t know any longer…

Ron DeSantis and Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran, in an effort to stop schools from reopening for in-person instruction.

Earlier this month, Corcoran issued an executive order requiring that all schools open in August for five days a week for families who want their children to attend in-person classes, even as COVID-19 cases in the state continue to surge. Families have the option of participating in remote learning if they prefer.

  58. Asked why the Civil Aviation Authority was helming the project, the official — asking not to be named — said: “We are the main aviation regulatory authority in Sri Lanka. Since there are multiple stories over the years about Ravana flying aircrafts and covering these routes, we want to study this matter.”

While Sri Lanka’s tourism sector promotes the ‘Ramayana trail’ for visitors from India — one of Sri Lanka’s largest tourism markets — it is the epic’s antagonist King Ravana that the majority Sinhala-Buddhists hail, like Dravidian party icons in Tamil Nadu, including former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi did. Both socio-religious organisations in Sri Lanka and the state venerate and acknowledge Ravana as “the brave king” from the island nation.

A hard-line Sinhala Buddhist group calls itself ‘Ravana Balaya’, while Sri Lanka named its first satellite, launched into orbit last June, ‘Ravana-1’. Addressing a conference civil aviation specialists in Colombo in 2016, then Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva had remarked that while the modern history of global aviation began with the Wright Brothers, it was common legend in Sri Lanka that a brave king called Ravana, used a flying machine called “Dandu monara” to fly not only within the country, but also in the region.
