Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday’s latest dance number “Beyonce Sharma Jayegi” from their upcoming movie Khaali Peeli seems to have left netizens disappointed, with many criticising the lyrics for being racist. The song, which released on September 6, features the two actors grooving to the peppy music composed by Vishal-Shekhar.
However, it is the lyrics — Chamkeeli lachkeeli tu jo kamar yeh hilayegi, tujhe dekh ke goriya Beyonce sharma jayegi (which translates to “after looking at you fair woman, Beyonce will feel shy”) that triggered an outrage among netizens, with many calling out the song for its racist implications.

I dont think this is a Komaram Bheem, Ramaraju story. That story wont have any resonance outside Andhra. This seems something more on lines of RDB where the lead characters will have shades of those characters from olden times but the setting will be present. I am more interested in such a story than a freedom struggle movie from Andhra.

Krish: All wrong. You are prompting me to tell the story now. It’s too early but here it is. 🙂 RRR story is set in 1920. I know the story as well but it’s the execution which matters. It is a fictional tale of 2 real freedom fighters of Telugu region. What if they had combined forces that time and not fought individually, we could have kicked out British from India. It is exactly a fictional setting of real characters like Tarantino does in his movies like Inglorious Bastards where a team of men end up killing Hitler in the end. It’s imagination of history.
Rajamouli had tons of story ideas but once he put Telugu film industry on map, the best thing he could do next is to put Telugu freedom fighters on India’s map and show their sacrifice and fight for freedom. But then he set them in fictional alternate history and it will resonate with pan-India and then create a riveting mass story about 2 freedom fighters fighting with British and hence we have some northern freedom fighters as well (Ajay Devgn.. ) in the story. Overall it’s the execution which will matter. So, the 2 characters will be based on real life but everything else about them will be fictional in this movie.

Bahubali 2 had the same corrosive retrograde third grade mass heropanti that symbolizes most lousy Telugu films at large. Bahubali 1’s excellence in storytelling, narrative & visuals was an exception for an otherwise mediocre film maker lime Rajamouli. Lets not forget this is the same film maker who gave us a pukey rape-happy sadistic Vikramarkudu & an Ekta Kapoor version of a mythology film in Magadheera.

I agree. So far bith RRR and RS are giv8ng the same Over the Top sequences. We do not see these in Hindi cinema so an obvious wow factor comes initially but when one remembers the disastrous Saaho or cringeworthy 2.0 2D ( 3D was another level and some terrific performance from Akshay), we realise there is often a gap between the tea cup and the lip.
I will still bet on RRR for Rajamouli as i belong to his separate fan group.

“Even with everything going wrong, especially in America, Tenet is playing almost on par with Interstellar in key overseas territories and is already one of the biggest live-action Hollywood originals since Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity.”
“With $66 million in China, $23 million in Japan and $22 million in the UK, Tenet is playing at around 75% of what it would have overseas under normal circumstances.”
Simply extraordinary! And to think this is one of Nolan’s “weaker” films.

LOL Nawaz is terrific in the trailer..sadly no EROS..
—–
The big city lets the people on its fringes hide themselves and their true feelings but offers them no solace. But Anwar isn’t one to give up on his hopes and principles. One case establishes Anwar’s broadmindedness, another brings to the fore his generous spirit, and a third helps him get in touch with his innermost urges.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is absolutely brilliant in this parable of pain and pining. The actor’s captivating, acutely angular interpretation of a man who darts seamlessly back and forth between earnestness and resignation and Dasgupta’s mastery over the medium make Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa a must watch.

Actually I’m 17 and even i feel very disappointed in how Hindi Cinema has become Bollywood and is offering nothing superlative these days.
I’d say the same for Hollywood too, when was the last time Disney made an original film? Plenty of tech updates and pandering to wokes by adding superficial diversity is not too better than the Dhawans.
I wish one of these big budget remakes flops hugely, so that they stop cashing in and try something original. Make no mistake, anything coming on OTT in 2020, especially big budget films are sure to be crapshows. So, that settles the fate of Coolie No.1.
OTT is another factor, their original content is far more interesting these days than theatrical releases and some of the Tamil and Malayalam releases are putting their bigger brothers like Hindi and Telugu to shame in terms of content and craft.

Most of it is just C grade sexually explicit sadistic & foul junk like Sacred Games & Mirzapur. These guys really need to rewatch Satya or Gangajal to know how to make crime themes, yet keep it watchable.

Primarily because the director of Tumbbad would never get to direct a billion rupee film while pretentious one’s like Anurag Kashyap get a billion & a half to make a Bombay Velvet. Mediocrity of Rohit Shetty & Farah Khan is celebrated while the likes of Sid Anand & Viktor Acharya get film after film despite delivering countless turkey’s. Even proven performers like Shoojit Sircar, Nitesh Tiwari or Sriram Raghavan find it tough to get the big banner backing.

WTF was that trailer – PAURUSHPUR??? Bejesus; man, the crap that Hindi film industry is coming up with these days in the name of ‘creative freedom.’ Is it trying to be a f!@#$ng CALIGULA? Caligula had Helen Mirren!!
Annu Kapoor, the talented but ‘tharki’ isn’t tired of fornicating past his retirement-age. Hopefully he is taking something good to keep ‘up’ with the times. He tried to bang Priyanka in 7 KHOON MAAF and got insulted publicly and rejected and humiliated by PC. Now he is banging unestablished actresses!! Good for you man! All your Shakespearean knowledge and that program regarding old-is-gold is, wow, so, ethereal!
Completely supporting SHIVAAY here. It is pathetic. While the US shows are leaping lengths in terms of story-telling and covering fine topics – inspite of the ‘liberal’ left-wing agenda – they at least have a finely structured screen-play and story to tell! And our ‘guys’ and ‘gals’!!
SACRED GAMES, MIRZAPUR, trashy shows that survive on shock-value and making a scape-goat of fine actors. They are there for the pay-check, but Goddamn!
I really hope the Government speeds up and brings OTT-vomit-inducing stuff under control.
Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Man Desai, Raj Kapoor, Alfred Hitchcock, Marty, sab se badla lega re ‘BC’ yeh tera AK..
