2021 YRF releases. Prithviraj, their biggest investment till date (incl their 2022 movies on the floor like Pathaan (90 cr)and Tiger, a 100 cr cost hyped to be over 300 cr) is a Diwali release.
Smart investment but only with Pathaan.
Between Pathaan or Tiger , i will take Pathaan anyday.
Tiger is a spent franchisee now…like Danbangg3 , Tiger 3 would fizzle out.
Pathaan is surely sounding more interesting and with Deepika, SRK and John this is actually my biggest film of 2022.
I finished watching it last night around 1.30, climax twist hit me so hard that I couldn’t sleep entire night thinking about it.. such was an IMPACT.. Climax suspense unfolds preety fast in #Drishyam2 but its better than its prequel climax twist. Mindblasting writing.. Hats off

The big mistake the media makes with Modi, and it’s something I’ve seen even Chomsky allude to, is compare Modi with the far right batch of Orban, Salzini, Erdogan, Putin and Trump. MUMBAI: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s residence in Jalsa witnessed an increase in its security, following Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole’s threat to stop the shoot of the star’s films.
Outside the 78-year-old actor’s Juhu residence, a police car could be seen stationed along with two police officers and barriers. Amitabh’s personal security guards were also commissioned along with increased security.
This increase in security comes after Patole took an aggressive stand against celebrities who during the Congress rule had been critical of the Central government over fuel prices but are now perceived to be mute even though the rates have only shot up higher than ever before.
The state party chief went on to the extent of threatening to stop the screening and shooting of movies involving stars like Bachchan and Akshay Kumar if they didn’t speak up now as they did before.
This good for nothing, pathetic sham of a coalition government has no other work except for dance around pointless matters like Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Kangana & Akshay Kumar. Covid management in Maharashtra is a complete joke. Even an infrastructurally inferior UP with double the population density has handled the pandemic better than this so called commercial hub of India boasting of 2 major metros and few of the most economically developed tier 2 cities. The only response these BMC clowns and their corrupt political hooligans know is that of curfews and lockdowns. Actor Abhishek Bachchan on Monday announced that he will be seen in Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming social comedy, Dasvi, next. The actor would play the character the character of Ganga Ram Chaudhary in the film, which also features Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur.
Dasvi, written by Ritesh Shah, went on floors on Monday. It is being directed by debutante Tushar Jalota. Abhishek took to Instagram to share his look from the film. Sporting a muffler and wearing a stud, Abhishek as Ganga Ram Chaudhary stares right at the camera displaying a certain smugness.
So Rangan feels “sameness” in Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk & Tenet. I guess he’s better off sticking to cheap retrograde Tamil masala film reviews. And the lack of emotional connect nonsense about Dunkirk has been done to death. Dunkirk is an unconventional masterpiece that’s a theme based war movie than a character oriented one. Full metal jacket, SPR, Fury etc are essentially similar in narrative. Dunkirk took a different bolder & unconventional approach where you don’t feel for one but 400000 characters at once just like how it is in a war. Saying that Dunkirk’s not immersive on the imax screen is complete bs! I’ve read quite a few BR reviews but sorry to say, barring reviewing masala genre he’s a complete hack masquerading as an intellect.
I wouldn’t be so harsh on BR. He does say he really loves Nolan’s thinking. He has lot of admiration for him. He has the right to say what he doesn’t like in his latter-films. But I agree totally with you, he totally missed the point with DUNKIRK. It was just not about a single character; it was about a collective fight and large swath of folks caught in a situation where there are contradictory feelings like being brave for the country while fearing for one’s life. It was never about a ‘memorable’ character to walk away with. Even a Shakespearean actor like Kenneth Branagh was reduced to a character, and rightly so.
But yes, I do agree with BR that I would love to see Nolan take on a non-scientific, a fun film – since for me at least, the most serious of film-makers have a fantastic sense of humor that is highly subtle: Case in point – Martin Scorsese – ‘THE KING OF COMEDY’

PLANO, Texas (AP) — A misdemeanor charge has been dropped against a Black man who was arrested last week for walking home on a street during a snowstorm in Texas.
Rodney Reese, 18, was arrested Feb. 16 in Plano and charged with being a pedestrian in the roadway, news outlets reported.
Police said officers received a call about a Black man seen stumbling along in the middle of the snowy street wearing a short-sleeved shirt and were sent to perform a wellness check.

Drishyam 2 : Classic case of a needless sequel. Bizarre over the top plot twists inserted into a 153 minute snoozefest that’s neither got the edge of the prequel and not the thrill. The climax is silly enough to make you hate every character associated with the story. Part 1 had the near perfect climax that neither required nor deserved a sequel that’s more in tune with cheap thrills from Abbas Mustan films. 2/5
Last night I watched the Kapil Sharma show on ‘Chichore’ and I was jolted by SSR’s behavior. He appeared extremely fidgety, nervous, hesitant, and anxious. It looked like he was pretending he was enjoying the show.
And it was shocking to see even Kapil ignore SSR! There were more questions and more appreciation for Shraddha Kapoor! Even Varun Sharma and Naveen Polishetty got more time!!!!

In a recent announcement made, it has been revealed that Fatima Sana Shaikh will be seen playing the lead role in the official Hindi remake of the Tamil film, Aruvi. The film will be under the banner of Applause Entertainment and is co-produced by Viki Rajani of Faith Films. Supreme Court Relief For Amazon India Head; Says “No Teeth” In OTT Rules
Government rules on social media and OTT (Over The Top) platforms “have no teeth” and thus no power for prosecution, said the Supreme Court as it granted relief from arrest to India head of Amazon Aparna Purohit in the ongoing investigation against the web series ‘Tandav’.
“There is no mechanism to control social media platforms. Without legislation you (government ) cannot control it,” said the top court bench while hearing Ms Purohit’s appeal against the Allahabad High Court’s February 25 order declining anticipatory bail to her.
So its more than likely confirmed that #Sooryavanshi wont be arriving on 2nd april 2021 fearing rising cases of Covid-19 in Maharashtra. Though makers can eye for mid-april release which is also lying vacant as of now.
The release date decision of Sooryavanshi is imminent now and is likely to happen sometime next week. It is a much awaited film as its the one which is expected to bring back a larger audience to the theatres across the circuits where Hindi films dominate.
Sooryavanshi has had a roller coaster ride this year as the film did not look like meeting its Holi / Easter date in early January but then the occupancy rise to 100% changed that in late January. Then most of February was spent with the makers and exhibitors unable to come to an agreement. This was sorted at the end of the month as makers agreed to most of the terms of the exhibitors.
But just as terms were settled verbally then the rise in covid19 cases in Maharashtra has put its release in doubt. There are many restrictions in some cities of Maharashtra with a big city like Pune on night curfew till March 14th. Mumbai city is fine at the moment in terms of restrictions but it is not known what will happen in the near future.
There were also rumours in the market last week that a film like Roohi due for release in a week may get pushed but that can probably get away a with it but for Sooryavanshi it will be Maharashtra leading the way which is the case for most Rohit Shetty films. Maharashtra will contribute a near 40% ratio for the film rather than the 28% normal average which means the film cannot afford Maharashtra cities to be heavily restricted in the state.
In January when the 50% occupancy restrictions were lifted it was hoped that by April most of the states would be allowing 100% occupancy including Maharashtra. Now this looks impossible and in all likelihood if Sooryavanshi releases in April it will be with Maharashtra theatres screening it with 50% occupancy. Maybe with just this the makers may have taken a chance but now there is fear of further restrictions in cities of Maharashtra which does put the release of the film in doubt in April.
At present its a 50-50 call for an April release and a drop in cases in Maharashtra over the next few days could swing it in a favour of an April release. According the grapevine the decision will me made in the next few days and if it is to be an Easter release then the announcement will come next week with the trailer to follow. If the film gets pushed which will be likely to be June and the date of 1983 then there could also be confirmation or the studio may just wait to announce.
Local trains sometimes are running almost empty during non peak hours which was unseen before the pandemic. The seats are marked with social distancing norms kept in mind. Many are getting accustomed to travel by roads which takes longer time. Let us see what happens when a really big bollywood film releases here in Maharashtra. Who will be the first one to take the challenge?

I am not sure where one can make such a blanket statement like that.

The Black women in my family and office wondered aloud: Will a helicopter land in the Peckham or Seven Sisters neighborhoods of London so Meghan can go buy hair and skin care products? Will she be allowed to go natural, or will royal protocol demand she straighten her hair? Will she be allowed to speak on Black issues? When something is happening in the community, will she be able to be a voice for us?
Some of this was in jest, but the thinking was obvious: Would she be allowed to be herself, a woman of color? Following Meghan’s interview, they now have a resounding answer to their overarching question.

When Bollywood producers procrastinated and chickened out of a release during X’mas/New Year while the Covid situation was much better and now are struggling to find a release with Maharashtra cities going into night curfews. Serves them right, but as usual its the exhibitors & distributors who’re gonna take the hit for the misadventures of the rogue producers. Distributors of Master & Krack are having the last laugh as expected.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan on Monday announced that he will be seen in Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming social comedy, Dasvi, next. The actor would play the character the character of Ganga Ram Chaudhary in the film, which also features Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur.

So Rangan feels “sameness” in Inception, Interstellar, Dunkirk & Tenet. I guess he’s better off sticking to cheap retrograde Tamil masala film reviews. And the lack of emotional connect nonsense about Dunkirk has been done to death. Dunkirk is an unconventional masterpiece that’s a theme based war movie than a character oriented one. Full metal jacket, SPR, Fury etc are essentially similar in narrative. Dunkirk took a different bolder & unconventional approach where you don’t feel for one but 400000 characters at once just like how it is in a war. Saying that Dunkirk’s not immersive on the imax screen is complete bs! I’ve read quite a few BR reviews but sorry to say, barring reviewing masala genre he’s a complete hack masquerading as an intellect.

I wouldn’t be so harsh on BR. He does say he really loves Nolan’s thinking. He has lot of admiration for him. He has the right to say what he doesn’t like in his latter-films. But I agree totally with you, he totally missed the point with DUNKIRK. It was just not about a single character; it was about a collective fight and large swath of folks caught in a situation where there are contradictory feelings like being brave for the country while fearing for one’s life. It was never about a ‘memorable’ character to walk away with. Even a Shakespearean actor like Kenneth Branagh was reduced to a character, and rightly so.
But yes, I do agree with BR that I would love to see Nolan take on a non-scientific, a fun film – since for me at least, the most serious of film-makers have a fantastic sense of humor that is highly subtle: Case in point – Martin Scorsese – ‘THE KING OF COMEDY’

PLANO, Texas (AP) — A misdemeanor charge has been dropped against a Black man who was arrested last week for walking home on a street during a snowstorm in Texas.
Rodney Reese, 18, was arrested Feb. 16 in Plano and charged with being a pedestrian in the roadway, news outlets reported.
Police said officers received a call about a Black man seen stumbling along in the middle of the snowy street wearing a short-sleeved shirt and were sent to perform a wellness check.

Drishyam 2 : Classic case of a needless sequel. Bizarre over the top plot twists inserted into a 153 minute snoozefest that’s neither got the edge of the prequel and not the thrill. The climax is silly enough to make you hate every character associated with the story. Part 1 had the near perfect climax that neither required nor deserved a sequel that’s more in tune with cheap thrills from Abbas Mustan films. 2/5

Last night I watched the Kapil Sharma show on ‘Chichore’ and I was jolted by SSR’s behavior. He appeared extremely fidgety, nervous, hesitant, and anxious. It looked like he was pretending he was enjoying the show.
And it was shocking to see even Kapil ignore SSR! There were more questions and more appreciation for Shraddha Kapoor! Even Varun Sharma and Naveen Polishetty got more time!!!!
It is hardly shocking that tu@#$t like Karan Johar do these kind of things, but didn’t know this attitude toward SSR had seeped so, so, deeply in Bollywood…

Vaccination is helping a lot in UK. The positive cases are dropping big. Now a plan with dates is in place to open things up. By June 21st the target is everything to be open. Till then it is step by step reduction in restrictions. This is the only thing UK has done well – Vaccinations. All my uncles and aunts are pretty much done with 1st dose.
Unfortunately my dad’s brother in law did pass away a couple of weeks ago. He had loads of health issues but going to hospital and catching covid there was an awful end.
Even 40 somethings are getting vaccines. This is the best way out.

Supreme Court Relief For Amazon India Head; Says “No Teeth” In OTT Rules
Government rules on social media and OTT (Over The Top) platforms “have no teeth” and thus no power for prosecution, said the Supreme Court as it granted relief from arrest to India head of Amazon Aparna Purohit in the ongoing investigation against the web series ‘Tandav’.
“There is no mechanism to control social media platforms. Without legislation you (government ) cannot control it,” said the top court bench while hearing Ms Purohit’s appeal against the Allahabad High Court’s February 25 order declining anticipatory bail to her.

The release date decision of Sooryavanshi is imminent now and is likely to happen sometime next week. It is a much awaited film as its the one which is expected to bring back a larger audience to the theatres across the circuits where Hindi films dominate.
Sooryavanshi has had a roller coaster ride this year as the film did not look like meeting its Holi / Easter date in early January but then the occupancy rise to 100% changed that in late January. Then most of February was spent with the makers and exhibitors unable to come to an agreement. This was sorted at the end of the month as makers agreed to most of the terms of the exhibitors.
But just as terms were settled verbally then the rise in covid19 cases in Maharashtra has put its release in doubt. There are many restrictions in some cities of Maharashtra with a big city like Pune on night curfew till March 14th. Mumbai city is fine at the moment in terms of restrictions but it is not known what will happen in the near future.
There were also rumours in the market last week that a film like Roohi due for release in a week may get pushed but that can probably get away a with it but for Sooryavanshi it will be Maharashtra leading the way which is the case for most Rohit Shetty films. Maharashtra will contribute a near 40% ratio for the film rather than the 28% normal average which means the film cannot afford Maharashtra cities to be heavily restricted in the state.
In January when the 50% occupancy restrictions were lifted it was hoped that by April most of the states would be allowing 100% occupancy including Maharashtra. Now this looks impossible and in all likelihood if Sooryavanshi releases in April it will be with Maharashtra theatres screening it with 50% occupancy. Maybe with just this the makers may have taken a chance but now there is fear of further restrictions in cities of Maharashtra which does put the release of the film in doubt in April.
At present its a 50-50 call for an April release and a drop in cases in Maharashtra over the next few days could swing it in a favour of an April release. According the grapevine the decision will me made in the next few days and if it is to be an Easter release then the announcement will come next week with the trailer to follow. If the film gets pushed which will be likely to be June and the date of 1983 then there could also be confirmation or the studio may just wait to announce.

Many are getting accustomed to travel by roads which takes longer time. Let us see what happens when a really big bollywood film releases here in Maharashtra. Bombay Begums has an interesting story and there are unexpected twists till the end. All have acted well. Watch it.
There are too many sex scenes. So family watching is ruled out. There are cliches. But not boring. Overall an interesting series and there is a cliff hanger which may lead to another series.

London: Meghan’s father Thomas Markle said on Tuesday that he did not think the British royal family was racist, and hoped that an alleged remark from a family member about the darkness of the skin of Meghan’s son was just a “dumb question”.
Meghan said that her son Archie, now aged one, had been denied the title of prince because there were concerns within the royal family about “about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.
“I have great respect for the royals, and I don’t think the British royal family are racist at all. I don’t think the British are racist, I think Los Angeles is racist, California is a racist, but I don’t think the Brits are,” Markle told ITV.

Britain has a racism problem for sure. It’s maybe not as in your face and obvious as USA, or say structural but there is a racism issue.
I am not sure where one can make such a blanket statement like that.

For Black women in particular, Meghan’s arrival at Buckingham Palace was a truly profound moment. The Black women in my family and office wondered aloud: Will a helicopter land in the Peckham or Seven Sisters neighborhoods of London so Meghan can go buy hair and skin care products? Will she be allowed to go natural, or will royal protocol demand she straighten her hair? Will she be allowed to speak on Black issues? When something is happening in the community, will she be able to be a voice for us?
Some of this was in jest, but the thinking was obvious: Would she be allowed to be herself, a woman of color? Following Meghan’s interview, they now have a resounding answer to their overarching question.

Enlightening read. I’m quite shocked by the UK stats but not surprised.
I’ve worked with a couple of black people in my jobs, I’ve no influence on their wage but I’m very surprised to learn the money they get vis a vis counterparts. 2 people is a tiny sample of course.
With Brexit and Mexit, UK is really getting awful press.
Definitely this issue should NEVER have found its way onto TV.
I’m not feeling sorry for 2 very rich, entitled people but I can see how easily this could unfold like this.
This is The Crown material for Season 9. That show is obviously not factual but it does give a glimpse of how Royals live life. There is suffocation if you are not next in line.
UK has missed an opportunity here IMO.
100% these 2 are milking it and earning money via scandal.
Weird situation where no one seems to be right in any sense. All a bunch of idiots.

There is a point to be made that Harry and Meghan have had it much much worse than pedo Epstein’s pal Prince Andrew. Nothing raises red flags like this, and I think that’s also why the US has been more anti-RF.

Quite amusing to witness all the Woman’s day rhetoric in a nation where a woman’s biggest enemy is a woman herself. At least discuss the skewed gender ratio for a change instead of harping about female CEOs and sportswomen that the media’s been doing for 20 years now. You cannot celebrate the success of 0.01% of the privileged urban women while allow the remaining 99.9% to fend for themselves. Every public place, bazaar, mall, mandi, public bus, airplane etc and hotel has a 70:30 outdoor gender ratio in this country. Even a lingerie store has more than half the salespersons who’re male! So much for woman empowerment rants.

When Bollywood producers procrastinated and chickened out of a release during X’mas/New Year while the Covid situation was much better and now are struggling to find a release with Maharashtra cities going into night curfews. Serves them right, but as usual its the exhibitors & distributors who’re gonna take the hit for the misadventures of the rogue producers. Distributors of Master & Krack are having the last laugh as expected.
