    • I thought Simmba was all right. The first half was quite funny and, dare I say, interesting.

    • Because in his genre, he is good to average. I liked Chennai Express and his Golmal series as light-hearted comedies. I preferred Devgan’s Singham as well; and Ranveer’s performance in Simbaa.

      • Simmbaa is the kind I’d give a -50/5 along with all the Golmaal garbage barring the first one. Sooryavanshi gave me Neeraj Pandey vibes for a large part. I don’t know what me or you missed but I thought Sooryavanshi was actually alright till the last 30 minutes and of course the lousy humor.

I like Shetty’s movies the best when they’re self referential, spoofy and don’t take themselves seriously. Like the Golmaal series.

Let truth be told: he’s a harmless but a poor filmmaker who has no understanding of masala or the basics. Not the kind who’d want to work hard in the process. The scripts are lazily put together or rip offs, not layered at any level.

Dont even remember the last time he even had good, original music in his movies. Everything he seems to do lately is a gimmick meant to bring in numbers.

He’s judged mostly for his box office successes, for otherwise there’s nothing to write home about his lackluster efforts.

  4. Also Ajay Devgn is highly overrated; can’t believe the guy has two National Awards to his name! Akshay is way better though his National Award for Rustom is the worst.

Now that I think, this film’s cast has three National Awards to its credit LOL

  5. That Sooryavanshi is raking in the moolah shows our country is so devoid of mass entertainment. Even with the digital platforms, people still risking lives for entertainment

    • Its a decent masala film and far better than the last 3 Golmaal ones or Singham 2. I’m kinda shocked how AnJo & Saket managed to piss on it so much while being able to accept the intolerable junk of Simmba. I guess that’s where personal opinions vary (:

    • Digital platforms cannot hold a candle compared to the big screen experience as proved by the global response to Black Widow, Dune, Shang Chi, No Time to Die, Eternals and now domestically to Master, Vakeel Saab, Sooryavanshi & Annathe.

  7. .As per a report in a Hindi daily, the film’s story begins in the year 1968, when the protagonist is a child and ends in the year 2018. Some of the significant episodes of post-independent India like the Emergency, 1983 Cricket World Cup, Operation Blue Star, the Rath Yatra, the 1999 Kargil War, etc have also been incorporated in the script.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan also has a cameo. As per reports, Laal Singh Chaddha is shown interacting with the younger Shah Rukh and it’s said to be one of the most memorable sequences in the film.

A trade expert says, “It’s an interesting idea and by showing the bygone era, the film will also appeal to the older generation and the old-timers. Aamir Khan is known for being the box office king. Laal Singh Chaddha has the potential to be yet another grosser if these details are anything to go through.”
