      2. Australia have known for at least a year about this. Why does it have to come about AFTER Djokovic is in Australia itself.
      3) if chain of pictures is true why is Djokovic out AFTER testing positive and risking others
      4) Is Djokovic actually covid positive or is it a fake positive to get into Australia?

Why Why Why do people have to make things complicated?

I’m more on Djokovic side here because like many people they can see how government don’t even obey there own rules and regulations. So he’s probably trying to pull one off here from under the carpet. Fair play but at same time it’s very irresponsible if he’s covid positive on Dec 16th.

  4. Well, I hope he is not allowed to play after all the drama by his country and his parents.
If it was an Indian or Pakistani celebrity, he would not have received the same treatment on the Australian soil. They would have been deported immediately.
A day after Australia cancelled the visa of men’s tennis world No.1 Novak Djokovic because is unvaccinated, the Australian Border Force (ABF) is now checking the entry details of other foreign players in the country for the Australian Open.
Australia mandates not just a Covid vaccine certificate but also a negative RT-PCR test 72 hours prior to arriving in the country.
Czech player Renata Voracova had joined Novak Djokovic in the immigration detention on Thursday despite already having been allowed into the country and playing in a match before having her visa cancelled.

He has tested positive on Dec 16th
Next 2days he is out at some school charity event and then with French magazine L’Equipe.

1)On Section 501 Australia should kick Djokovic back home after failing character test of human being. This is not even a moral quandary anymore.

      Djokovic has either
      1) falsified PCR test – quite easily possible in a country where he is considered a GOD
      2) He tested positive and hung around children and magazines for next 2 days

Tell me which option is worse.

Australia can still invoke S501 but I prefer to see fellow colleagues shun Djokovic and refuse to play him and let him celebrate his victory 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

And that’s how far he has taken Indian cricket forward, and that will be his legacy. Congratulations on successful reign @imVkohli 👏🏻 https://t.co/My2MOXNwMc

        • Strong batting line ups help you set up games and save games. Exactly why we played so many respectable draws overseas in the 2000s despite having just 2 match winning bowlers in Kumble & Zaheer, the batsmen made sure we got huge runs on board. Today’s incompetent batting line up is incapable of batting even 90 overs a day to set up the game for their bowlers. Most seem to be batting in T20 mode in tests. They need to watch Dean Elger’s performance or some of their coach’s innings.

Also role of Gaguly has come our negative. Virat got under unnecessary pressure after Sourav became BCCI president. The hunger for power and dominance instead of focussing on administration and well being of players, can destroy talent, captains and teams.

        • Kohli’s atrocious on field behavior is the real long rope. This guy needs to be banned for a year for his ridiculous antics. He’s as much a disgrace to the game as Ricky Ponting during his infamous days as captain. Today’s 2 minute noodle T20 gen has no idea of Ganguly’s contribution to shaping Indian cricket.

        • Accountability is the reason why Sourav was sacked in 2005 and Rahul resigned in 2007 despite winning in England against a formidable English side, something that Kohli’s side would never manage anyway. Barring having the record of not losing a single home series in his tenure, his performance as captain has been mediocrity of the highest level. 2 series defeats against a second rung South Africa, a 1-4 result in England, disgraceful losses to NZ and even the Aussie win was under Rahane (36 all out with him at the helm!). Not to forget the shocking WC semi final exit against a lackluster Kiwi side which was on a losing spree at the time (compare this with 2003s run).

    • Easily Indias best test captain by a mile. Walked the talk, was okay to play 5 bowlers, was never worried about his own average anytime, played for a win every time he walked out. 40 test wins will never be crossed ever. A bit sad that he has to resign due to external factors. As such he could have continued in tests for sometime and let Rahul continue in white ball. Amazing dedication to fitness and probably his vision of creating a wolf pack of pace bowlers who are fit will help the next captain. He can walk way with his head held high. The wins in Aus, Eng, Wi, SL are all special and in home he never even drew a single series forget losing one

      • He did lose the first Test against England at Chennai by selecting Shahbaaz Nadeem. His selections were disappointing. Supporting talent such as Bumrah, Shami, Siraj is one thing but selecting rank non performers was the cause of this fall as a captain

        Like

        • I mean he never lost a SERIES in India. Not even a Drawn one. Every series in India is a win. Anyways i dont think he was being asked to resign. We are leading vs England 2-1 and that was just the last over seas series. We have finished No 1 last 6 years and have won 6 test maces on the trot. These are outstanding numbers which will stand the test of time. He has resigned on his own and we can respect that decision and move on. Yes he clinged on to Rahane for too long but then now the younger lots will get their chance. Virat as a batsman still remains very important for the team.
Contrary to misconceptions, Kohli didnt inherit anything from Dhoni. Shami and Umesh were 10 test old, Jadeja was 12 test old, Ashwin was 23 test old but had presided over the 2012 test series loss in India. The only fully developed bowler he got was Ishant Sharma who had played 54 tests but was averaging over 39 at that time. Less said about the batters the better that he got. No Fab 4 nothing. And he leaves behind probably atleast 6 or 7 pace bowlers who will perform for the next captain. The side he inherited was No 7 in test ranking, the side he leaves behind is No 1 in test rankings. The vision of having fast 5 bowlers was put into place from the very first he managed. Kohli shouts in the face of classic middle class values: shyness, conformity, niceness. He is more Australian and will never appeal to people who will rather keep Rahane in the team who has no tattoos. He defied convention. No wonder Australians like him as much as any other cricketer they like.Kohli stood for test cricket, he gave it importance and the next captain has to do the same for it to thrive in India.
I dont want to compare him with any predecessor but for me he is the best. And i have seen cricket since the Kerry Packer era. One can have their opinion and no point debating that. I will stand with mine

The journalist said the official did so by inviting himself to selection committee meeting despite knowing that he had no business attending those meetings.

The former India captain not just rejected the accusations thrown at him but also offered a gentle reminder to his critics — much before becoming the BCCI boss, he was a celebrated India cricketer and played in a whopping 424 international matches — 113 of them Tests.

Sitting on his chair at the changeover he yelled across the court, accusing his team, sat close by the Royal guests, of not offering him enough support. “Why? Why?” he shouted repeatedly.

Saurav Ganguly’s bold decision of playing a 7-4 combination with Dravid keeping wickets not only led Team India to glory in England but a subsequent Champions Trophy win and a memorable 2003 world cup campaign as well. Storming into a World cup final played in South Africa with the level of confidence and dominance our team did was perhaps a greater achievement than winning the championship at home in 2011 in my opinion.

The bureau arrived at the decision after the Supreme Court repealed the CoA and handed the management of AIFF to the football federation.
A ban from the apex body of world football, FIFA was imposed on India on the 15th of August, 2022. This mainly happened due to third-party interference in the daily affairs of the AIFF. Also, as per FIFA statutes the presence of eminent footballers in the committee is not permitted unless they are co-opted.

The Bureau of the FIFA Council has decided to lift the suspension that was imposed on the All India Football Federation (AIFF) due to undue third-party influence.

he decision was taken after FIFA received confirmation that the mandate of the committee of administrators that was set up to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee had been terminated and that the AIFF administration had regained full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs. FIFA and the AFC will continue to monitor the situation and will support the AIFF in organising its elections in a timely manner.

As a consequence, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022™ scheduled to take place on 11-30 October 2022 will be held in India as planned.

Ban lifted on 25th August, 2022
A letter signed by FIFA’s General Secretary, Fatma Samoura reached the AIFF this evening. The Bureau was informed that the mandate the Committee of Administrators (CoA) had been terminated and the daily affairs were now in control of the AIFF again. Hence the decision to uplift the ban came from the apex body. The Government of India played an influential part in the process of revoking the FIFA ban.

    • Removal of the golden goal is what’s leading to multiple penalty shoot outs. Doesn’t make sense to have an entire 90 minute game and give additional 30 mins mandatorily. They should either bring back the golden goal (sudden death) in extra time or increase the length of each game to 120 mins itself. Feeling sad for Neymar & Brazil fans, Croatia and Morocco are there by complete fluke.

      Liked by 1 person

      • Croatia are there on merit. They reached 2018 finals and in Modric, Brozovic and Kovacic they have arguably the best combination of midfielders in tournament.
Morocco too have 3-4 good players.

The gap between minnows and big teams is closing for years.

        1) fitness is better allround
        2) 5 subs means a minnow has the engine to go deep
        3) mid season WC helps all as players are already in good shape
        4) Brazil and Spain both were not clinical enough. Spain especially didn’t take enough risks

Argentina vs Netherlands – wow what a classic.

    • I think Argentina definitely struggled – mentally they checked out into semi. Brazil simply got caught by a sucker punch. But Croatia’s euros and WC track record is crazy. They have been to extra time in at least 5 matches in knockouts football and won 4 out 4 penalty shootouts! They just never give up. It used to be 1 goal is enough to put away a weaker side. But now 2 goals minimum. But against good opposition even 2 may not be enough just as Netherlands proved. So you just have to kill your opposition’s spirit either by keeping on scoring or keeping the ball.

Argentina were lucky today. Netherlands stopped playing in extra time. No idea why because Argentina were on the ropes and Netherlands should have delivered the knockout punch. They had to carry on loading the ball to the tall players. Ironic tactic from Louis Van Gaal – total football disciple.

      Like

      • In extra time, both Neds played defensive, probably a strategy to worn out Argentines before the shoot outs.

        Like

        • I think Netherlands put so much into the last 20mins and just forgot how they got to extra time. They played old fashioned 80s football, sticking the ball up and it worked to create panic for Argentina. Instead of carrying that on they gave Argentina the ball and Argentina were the dominant side in extra time. Complete unnecessary momentum shift.

But very good from Argentina not to buckle in extra time. Penalties are just a lottery and more drama than anything else. None of the shootouts have been impressive. One side has missed penalties from beginning. Japan, Brazil and Netherlands – pretty sure they all missed 1st penalty. A bad start is hard to clawback. You miss first 2 and you need miracles.

  72. Politics aside – this has been the best international football tournament in my memory. I started in Italia 90 and for sheer drama and upsets this is at the top as an entire tournament. France lost to Tunisia, Argentina to Saudi Arabia, Brazil to Cameroon, Portugal to South Korea. Japan beat both Germany and Spain. Morocco beat Belgium, Spain and Portugal. You normally get 1 or 2 shocks but here the tide turned towards the lesser nations. Remember reigning Euro champions Italy didn’t even qualify because they got knocked out by North Macedonia! Denmark in 92 and Greece in 04 were indeed shock wins but in less dramatic matches. The former still had world class players in Schmeichel and Laudrup. WC throw up shocks since 90 – Cameroon beating Argentina, 02 Senegal beating France, SK knocking Italy out etc but the collective shocks in 2022 are more than possibly entire history of WC.

But the cream rise to the top. It’s France’s WC to lose now. Can’t see Morocco pulling off another upset.
Croatia v Argentina is Modric v Messi.

Fyi the 2 best matches of WC 2018 were France v Argentina R16 which France won 4-3 and the WC final where France beat Croatia 4-2.

  73. Vijay Shivaay Says:

Teams that focus most of their resources on the imbecile T20 format are often unable to compete at the highest and purest form of the game. Pakistan is a typical example of one such cricketing structure. Unfortunate that India doesn’t play test cricket against them any longer else we might have a few easy test wins on our hands.

    • Pretty dominating game by Argentina. Messi is indeed magical. And I believe with today’s match, he has moved to 1st spot pulling Batistuta down. But it’s taken 25 matches for Messi while just 12 for Batistuta!! That’s no mean feat!

      • Battigoal was an out and out striker.
Messi has 11 WC goals and 8 WC assists. I believe that G+A amount is either #1 or #2 with Klose now. Klose has 20 or 19 goal contributions.

So Messi’s own currency is simply not his goal return. He’s far more than that.

Whether he wins or not I think the debate between CR7 and Messi has ended…IMO it wasn’t even a legitimate debate to begin with.

Messi is either going to be the player of the tournament or Mbappe will be but the tournament has showcased Messi’s array of talent despite him losing a yard of pace at the age of 35.

Messi (11 goals, 8 assists) has the most goal involvements in a World Cup (since 1966), joining Miroslav Klose (16 goals, 3 assists), Ronaldo Nazario (15 goals, 4 assists) and Gerd Müller (14 goals, 5 assists).

Joint top ever now. Top of assists in knockouts in WC ever since data started in 1966.

On Sun he beats Lothar Mattheus alltime WC appearance record with #26.

  75. Messi has carried this Argentina side but Alvarez has stepped up. Now that assist challenges the one vs Netherlands.
Heck Messi nudged the ball to Alvarez for the first but I think because Alvarez didn’t finish it cleanly it wasn’t a Messi assist.

Be one crazy final if France get there.

  76. Messi- classic. These two best assists ( one against Netherlands) will always remain on highlight reels. One win away to the GOAT.

  77. Morocco just lacked that quality a top seasoned side has. They got into great positions but lacked the final ball or shot whereas France just seem to be able to go through in normal gears and turn it on when it matters.

Messi vs Mbappe. Passing of the torch or date with destiny? Both on 5 goals and Messi on 3 assists vs 2 for Mbappe.

France edge it on paper and I think back to back world cups, first time since Brazil in 58 and 62 will happen. Argentina to miss out on Sunday!

    • Yes Morocco somehow alarmingly was a bit subdued in today’s game. They should have gone out all guns blazing. Nothing to take away from the French though.

I am rooting for Messi/Argentina since he already declared today that this would be his last WC.

      • Rooting for the little master too! It would cap off his career. Mbappe though is entering himself into Pele territory if he wins again. Pele did the back to back aged 17 and 21, Mbappe has a legitimate shot at equally this and in future going for 3 WC’s. At 23 he’s got 2 WC’s after this.
But save this time for Messi I hope!

      • Morocco is a fluke team that got a lucky break against the Spainards and a lacklustre Portugal. Thankfully we’ve got 2 competent football teams in the Finale (although I’d have loved to have seen Brazil and Spain/Portugal in the last 4) much to the disappointment of the locals.

        • Hakimi – the right back who did a good job on Mbappe plays for PSG and before that Inter Milan
Amrabat- silky midfielder plays for Fiorentina and was hugely sought out in summer
Boufal and Ounahi play for Angers in French league and will definitely be sought out now
Ziyech – plays for Chelsea and was an asset for Ajax in their run to semi finals of champions league in 2019

There are others playing in Spain, Italy and France.

You don’t fluke Belgium (golden generation including De Bruyne, Lukaku, Hazard etc), Spain and Portugal (once is a fluke, twice a coincidence and thrice a pattern). Spain flopped as they didn’t finish Japan off and tried to avoid the side of the draw with Brazil, Croatia and Argentina. Spain flopped in 2018 in against Russia too in round of 16. They play one way and struggle against an organised defensive unit. Portugal missed too many chances. In both matches Morocco had clear cut chances.

This is football now. Minnows have players playing in Europe. They are fit and organised. They are capable of upsets. France too yesterday after going ahead were also under pressure. They lost to France because in the key moments they just weren’t experienced enough.

Decades ago a big team taking a lead against a minnow would win comfortably. Now these teams can be sticky and stay in the match. Calling it a fluke is like saying India fluked 83! A disservice!

Aside – for decades players of African or Asian birth chose to play for other national teams. Zidane is born in Algeria but played for France. Now the players are a bit more picky and more choose the country of birth. Someone like Sadio Mane could easily have ended up playing elsewhere but he plays for Senegal. Eventually Asia and Africa will catch up especially Africa. They produce good players.

  81. Best finals and what a crazy match. Mbappe was fantastic. No one can believe that you score 3 goals in world cup final and yet you are on losing side. But always wanted Messi to own this world cup and even win Golden boot(which he lost to Mbappe) but at least Messi ends his world cup journey on a high with additional player of the world cup. Truly memorable and historic win for Argentina’s history and fans all over the world. Messi can now retire!

  83. What did I just witness? Argentina can count themselves lucky or unlucky? Tbh France were awful for 75mins and Argentina outplayed them. Mbappe’s 2nd goal was extraordinary and I fully expected France to win. But the 2nd time Argentina have found something in extra time where they were the protagonist and more likely to win. The Martinez save was unbelievable and how atrocious was Lautaro Martinez’s finishing? He’s had at least 3 opportunities in the tournament laid on a platter by Messi and he’s scuffed all of them.

Messi deserved to win this 3-2 but Argentina once again found a way to not win. The referee made the right decisions today.

Penalties are a lottery but Martinez was always going to be a better bet than Lloris.

The final confirms Messi ascension to the top of the pile now. Mbappe is now on his heels. Poor guy scores a hattrick and loses.

However, France didn’t deserve to win overall. I think England played better than France and should have beaten France in the QF. Argentina for 75mins outplayed them and extra time still Argentina created more.

Messi had the 2nd international tournament of his life at 35! At 34 he dominated the Copa America with his name at the top of all the key stats; goals, assists, key passes, dribbles etc. Here of course he ended 1st or 2nd across the same (my guess). Undoubtedly the pass of the tournament vs Netherlands, the dribble of the tournament vs Croatia. One of the moment of the tournaments was the goal vs Mexico which really sent the stadium into lift off and triggered Argentina into this great run. However, I would give the moment of the WC to Mbappe in this final to extend it into extra time with that extraordinary 2nd goal.

Greatest WC ever and definitely the greatest WC final I’ve witnessed. In an alltime greatest 10 football matches, I’m sure this match enters the list, more for drama than spectacular quality.
