  3. Looks good. Ranbir appears surprisingly convincing. Bobby could be the surprise package. Who would have thought a year back that SRK and Ranbir would end up playing out and out action roles. Amazing transformation.

  5. Sandeep’s characters will be great. Ranbir Kapoor’s character already looks great and this will be huge role and I’ve seen his interview, if the character connects, it’s easier to navigate with the story, similar to Kabir Singh. Looking forward 👌

  6. Finally after 30 years, Bobby Deol can surprise everyone in this one. Sandeep is great in extracting performances from even average actors. Ranbir and Anil Kapoor anyways will blow it out.

  8. Thriving on sadistic violence, toxic Punjabi masculinity and Jaat buddhis as usual. With an element of commercial Telugu perversions of Vanga Reddy. Aur yeh papa papa papa kya hai! This is perhaps what pretty boy Kapoor & Bobby Deol do in their dreams 😛

    • Well there is certainly a big audience for this toxicity all over India, given Kabir Singh made almost 300 crore, a figure that seems untouchable now for any film in this genre. I think Sandeep Reddy has definitely got some skills; he also understands the power of good music, and knows how to ratchet up the tension better than almost any other director in Bollywood.

Despite the toxic content, some scenes in Kabir Singh were very well directed with extreme intensity, and one can see the same in the first sequence in this trailer, which is also very well acted by both Kapoors.

And this whole papa papa business definitely looks strange but Indian boys having toxic, co-dependent relationships with their mothers at least is all too common.

If single screens latches on to it like they did KGF2, it could go past 350 cr.

  13. Extraordinary trailer and Sandeep Vanga proves that if the main character is strong, it’ll hold the audience interest. He’s so young and coming as outsider made revolutionary Arjun Reddy and then Kabir Singh. When I first watched Arjun Reddy, I felt the movie could have been 4 hours and I could have easily watched it. We were just flowing with the journey with of the main character and 3 hours never looked long. Similarly in Kabir Singh. Now, with Animal he’s taking to next level and if Ranbir’s character clicks, 3 hrs 20 mins will easily go by. It’s astonishing for a new film maker to be in complete control and not run down by the industry and needs strong voice to control every aspect of his film. He’s written, produced, directed and edited more in the lines of Raju Hirani who’s the other director who does it all. Even today’s interview, Rashmika mentioned same..this is my movie and it’ll happen only my way. Movies can go wrong once in a while but he sure is great addition to the movie industry with unique style and voice and very layered and deep scenes as seen in his debut movie. After Bhansali, we have such crazy director who wants to control everything about his movie. I’m excited and waiting for Animal. The best part is that he took truly an able actor to do the job and Ranbir Kapoor will kill it and sweep all the awards next year!

    • By which angle this trailer is extra ordinary. Yes, Ranbir seems to have acted well but Sanju hangover is visible here. Too much voilence and length can be issue for many. Plus A certificate may add more fuel to the fire.

      • Not a fan of these movies but it is a well cut trailer to generate curiosity and it is going to help in opening. At my end I see booking has already started (though it is not houseful as some are claiming; Hindi or Telugu ).
I have seen Arjun Reddy after much hesitation and I could see it is a well made movie though not necessary agreeing with content. I didn’t bother to check Kabir Singh.

      • Zero: Even Kabir Singh was A certificate. If his love story with 3 hours and also remake gets A certificate and still do near to 300 crs, why would his action movie be not A certificate? It makes no sense to make tamer version of his vision. Comparing to other films is futile as we have seen that SRV has unique talent and its hard to describe in words. Just simple scenes you’ll never find it any movie. He completely makes the movie based on character thinking at that moment. I know Kabir Singh has Devdas shades and all that arc but still it connected hugely. Imagine A rated movie doing almost 300 crs. Nikhil Advani claimed this is DDLJ for millennials. It was the big craze. Definitely the content here is again unique that son’s love for his father going extreme which is not covered often in movie. Sons takes revenge for father but not love him at this level and get extreme. I see nothing which suggests a bad film. If the director is gutsy to make 201 mins movie, all props for him. Even KS at 3 hrs run did exceptionally well and I already said it just flies if you love the main character. Here, if you buy Ranbir.. you can’t wait to see what he’ll do next and the time flies. Obviously if the main character is not well acted or written, it will looked dragged and long movie. Here, Ranbir looks to nail the character. Next discussion is after movie releases.

    • My thoughts are similar..just loved the trailor after watching it few more times..can’t get over the BGM..
The boxoffice part is a bit tricky not due to the clash or due to the length and A rating but because of the intensity. Kabir Singh was probably only exception when an intense drama with no breather has worked of late. This is not an action movie in a true sense I would think. Even a great khakhee was too much for the hindi audience. Rockstar was also too intense and I would even put Vikram vedha in this bracket…won’t call it an actioner more of a drama. Also family audience not sure..vanga will need help of the young crowd here big time..
He clearly hasn’t tried to make a BO friendly movie and that’s quite gutsy..I really hope it does well and is also a good film..you surely need more such directors..
I really don’t find the action and masculinity troubling considering that’s how our society is specially the masculinity part..
This will open close to 35 cr in my opinion no doubt..

      • The intensity point is good one. It’s hard to keep the intensity drawn out for 201 mins and that is the only reason from boxoffice prospects might suffer but overall I don’t see it not well made movie from the trailer. If the content and Ranbir’s character conne cts, it has chance to do well even with 201 mins length. Regarding the masculinity issue, I don’t see it and it’s just pointless at this stage. Only clip which I didn’t find convincing is the huge machine gun but I’m thinking that could be dream sequence as the setting of the movie doesn’t give the need for such gun fight. As I said, the trailer is great and let’s wait for the movie and it’s just 1 week away.

A very effective trailer and SRV certainly has directing chops but the film also seems highly problematic like KS. Where are we going with the highly impressionable audience of today for whom hyper masculinity is associated either with criminal, violent behaviour or misogyny?

    • Far cry from anti establishment cinema of the 60s & 70s where even criminals had a code of ethics.

    • The end might be well like Shakti where the father kills the son. But i especially like that Vanga is not treading a safe path atleast in terms of BO dynamics.
There was a time when Shakti, Trishul, Deewar kind of movies were made which were intense and not really action movies. BW stopped doing that, i dont blame them if the audiences reject a Khakee which would have been a Blockbuster in Dewar days. In many ways Animal kind of subject evn with the masculinity is a throwback to those kind of movies. You can talk about it being toxic but the masculinity cant be milder in todays age like say a Deewar. I am not comparing the greatness of Deewar with Animal and Animal might well turn out to be bad but i like what is being done here.

      • None of the one’s u mentioned have sadistic violence & limb chopping scenes. They are extremely well written films where violence is channelized psychologically than rabid shouting, screaming & melodrama. Vanga Reddy sort of stuff is more towards the 80s brand of cinema since that’s what sells today (like a Kgf 2 or those disgustingly sadistic scenes in the otherwise well written Kanagaraj films). Aesthetics matter for me, one of the reasons I feel Tarantino is a bit of a f@rt.

    • Let’s everyone make Sooraj Barjatya type of movies where everyone is goody goody? Lol. I mean, seriously how do you make movies with flawed characters? You don’t want movies with such characters? I never understood the debate about KS except few scenes of fat shaking but overall it’s so artifical debate IMO.

    • Agree with your view point here. First of all family audience will stay away from it due to A certificate. Father son angle is deginetly there but that won’t be enough to keep audience glued with seats for three hours. Rest let’s wait for the film and then only clear picture will surface.

@Zero…this trailer is extra ordinary because we havn’t seen a trailer like this since ages. All your Pathaan, Jawan, Tiger, Gadar, RRR or KGF are/were been there/done that type trailer. Tell us honestly have we seen a trailer where the intensity remains same in whole 3 minute. OK may be Rashmika Mandana part is poor, other then that you watch Animal trailer with holding your breath. It’s a proper box office blast paper. This Trailer single handedly incrases intrest for the Animal.

    • Intensity obviously magnified by the number of Papa Pappa’s which is more in a 3 min trailer than the entire duration of Geeta Babita’s screen time in Dangal. Alongside B Praak’s predictably bugging voice in the background 🙄

      • Agree with Vijay Shivaay here though we disagree with eachother most of the times. But in Animal’s case we two seem to be sail8ng in the same boat. Rest i don’t know are blowing it out of proportion. If you keenly look at Ranbir’s expression right from start of trailer, Sanjay Dutt hangover will be quite visible before your eyes. But i think majority here has decided to support this film irrespective of merits/ demerits. This really is quite strange.

        • You are talking about Ranbir Kapoor’s hangover from Sanju movie. I’m mostly looking forward for the movie for SVR’s unique voice (however controversial that is) and have hopes that Ranbir will deliver the goods. The long hair and style does remind of Sanju but that has nothing to do with the movie directly. If you didn’t like Kabir Singh, I think you will not find Animal anything special. As simple as that which is totally fine.

        • Yes it does look like some parts of Sanju but don’t see it as an issue. Most actors will have a similar kind of expression when they are showing a similar emotion..this is not uncommon..Aamir Khan would have walked from sets of 3 idiots to Dhoom 2 to PK to LSC with that same wide eyed simpleton expression and no one would have bothered..srk would use same expression in many movies..just look beyond that and there is so much to like in this trailor..I even found rashmikas dialogues quite impactful..
