No Sarkar Raj 3 at the moment

After much hype about Ram Gopal Varma planning another sequel to Sarkar, it seems the project is not on the director’s priority list. Till recently, it was believed that after the success of Sarkar and its sequel Sarkar Raaj, Ramu was keen on making Sarkar 3, but it looks like he has no inclination to make the film right now.
Ramu was recently invited to speak on the cult film The Godfather during the The Godfather Film Festival, organised by the The Enlighten Film Society.
At the one-of-a-kind interactive session, Ramu spoke about the story behind the making of Sarkar. He said he would not attempt another sequel till it has the required subjects, characters and the treatment needed for the film, which is in a way a remake of The Godfather. However, journalist Bhavna Somaya, who was present on the occasion, said,” The audience won’t be surprised if he suddenly comes up with Sarkar 3. That’s Ramu for you – unpredictable!” Rumours were ripe that RGV was keen on making Sarkar 3, and if the buzz is to be believed, even the Bachchans had agreed to work in it. But, it now looks Ramu wants to keep it in cold storage for a while, till he gets an interesting plot to take it forward.
Right now Ramu is concentrating on Agyaat, which he claims is a true horror film.
The film is said to be inspired by acclaimed international thrillers like Ridley Scott’s Alien, Daniel Myrick’s Blair Witch Project and John Carpenter’s The Thing. Recently, he was in the news for the national anthem controversy in his film Rann. He is also shooting his much talked about film with Vivek Oberoi, Raktacharitra.

No abhishek, no sarkar! This should always have been obvious to RGV!

MM can’t resist lobbing their negative slant in their articles. Sarkar Raj fared well with the critics. The movie did not fare as well as it should have because RGV made the stupid mistake and error in judgment by killing off Shanker. Shanker’s death changed the entire meaning and ideology of the trilogy. It sucked all of the air out of the trilogy. It also brassed off many in the audience who expected to see Abhishek and his character Shankar continue the family line in the trilogy.
Without Abhishek and Shankar the trilogy can’t believably go forward indeed. RGV shot himself in the foot with his mishandling of the trilogy and his mishandling of Abhishek and Aishwarya’s characters in the movie. So it’s better that Sarkar 3 is shelved. IF RGV does indeed make another movie in future with the Bachchans then he better have a topnotch script and theme that appeals to the audience. And more importantly he better utilise the Bachchan’s talents in the proper manner. He needs to understand what the audience is expecting from such a casting coup. Until that happens then its best that RGV and the Bachchans as a group not work together.
