Anurag Basu’s next, post his superhit Barfi, is a family entertainer titled Jagga Jasoos.
We have learnt that after much speculation, Katrina Kaif will play the leading lady opposite the charming Ranbir Kapoor.
While the film was originally to be shot in 2014, our sources tell us that all efforts are being made to start shooting the film this year itself to ensure that it releases next year.
We had already reported earlier that Ranbir and Anurag are partners on this one.
The trade is excited about Ranbir and Kat teaming up for the third time, especially because their earlier two film outings — Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti — were both well received at the box office.

First Look: Jagga Jasoos
The first look of Bollywood’s most talked about off screen couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is finally out. The first poster of Jagga Jasoos was shared by Ranbir Kapoor on Instagram where the actor and actress are seen fooling with funky props. While both the stars are seen wearing a similar pair of glasses, Ranbir also holds a prop that gives the impression of a mustache on his face.
The film is being helmed by Anurag Basu whose last outing with Ranbir, Barfi turned out to be a roaring success. Kapoor plays a detective in the movie with Katrina as his trusty aide. In the film the two actors will go on a lookout for Ranbir’s missing father played by Govinda.
Ranbir Kapoor’s journey from a teenager to a 40 year old man will also be depicted in the film. The actors will also through special make-up sessions to look the part. While Ranbir will play a 19-year-old, Katrina’s role in Jagga Jasoos is that of a 22-year-old.
The film will be a musical and is slated to release in August in the coming year

Jagga Jasoos To Re-Shoot

Anurag Basu is known to re-shoot his scenes unless he is satisfied with them but it seems like his next Jagga Jasoos is being shot for a very long time. The film went on the floors in 2013 end but still hasn’t been completed. The film was supposed to release on May 29 and then got pushed for an August 2015 release. But once again the release has got pushed further to November 27, 2015.
But it seems a lot of work is still pending and many portions from the film will be re-shot during June-July of this year. A source close to the film reveals, “There are some scenes which Anurag and Ranbir thought could have been better and decided to re-shoot them in June-July, post which the final post production of the film will start.”
Well, we trust Basu and his movies and the film may be taking time to release but whenever it will be out we’re very sure that it would be a treat for cinema lovers.

Amitabh in discussion with Anurag Basu
Anurag Basu’s ‘Jagga Jasoos’ has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Initially the film was making headlines due to the delay in its shooting schedule and release of the movie. And now if the reports are to be believed, the film is again in trouble, what with actor Govinda backing out of the film at the nth hour.
Govinda, who was playing the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s foster father in the movie, had a fall out with director Anurag Basu and hence walked out of the film.
Reportedly, Anurag Basu is considering actors Anil Kapoor or Amitabh Bachchan to step into Govinda’s role. While Anil Kapoor is currently in Malaysia for IIFA, Big B has revealed to a leading daily that Basu has approached him for the role.
Amitabh Bachchan told Mumbai Mirror, “I’ve had a meeting with Anurag Basu for ‘Jagga Jasoos’ but he’s still in the writing process.”
However, nothing has been officially declared yet. Whether Big B steps in to Govinda’s shoes or not, is something to watch out for!

I think I’ve said before but I think Anil Kapoor is more apt casting than Amitabh Bachchan for Ranbir’s father’s role.
