All those who are criticising Bachchan and going gaga over one film wonders must think about. Must ponder over.
A mega star cant be compared to one film wonders.
Sanjana,
Among old age grouph, if anyone is worth to be called a megastar then it is only Rajni sir..It is the Rajni whoes film still opens to 100% response despite being 65..This is called stardom and star power.
this whole discovery of Rajnikant in Bollywood (which is to say in the media and among various fans online) has always struck me as a deeply suspicious and cynical move. To elide all the differences and to simply ask ‘who produced the bigger hit at 60?’ or whatever is absurd. There are very many other things that need to be taken into account. For instance Bachchan’s incredible vitality even at his age and in ways that for many reasons are simply not measurable by the box office. Put differently Bachchan became the kind of figure over time who quite literally transcended the box office. It simply does not matter for him. What people consider to be Rajnikant’s great strength is of course so but in an obvious sense. Which is to say that any time you can produce box office results you are of course proving something. However Rajnikant isn’t the kind of box office star he was in the 80s or even the 90s. Now it’s a different kind of construction which produces the result but it is completely different in kind and most people simply don’t understand this. Bachchan on the other hand is even here the unique figure who can keep maintaining a certain vol despite having results that often seem divorced from the usual box office logic. It is not possible I think to come up with another figure either in India or outside who displays this same ‘curious’ career. Put differently if he was for the longest time the ultimate box office force (still unsurpassable in India or elsewhere once one accounts for all the distinctions) the flip side of this is his career over the last twenty-five years or so. Now I have often argued that he made some very poor decisions in this period and so forth but nonetheless I have to acknowledge this larger trajectory. Which is that Bachchan conquers any ordinary notion of the box office. No matter how respected you are as a senior star you must be able to produce some sort of result fairly regularly or else you lose your significance. This is true in Bombay as well as in Hollywood or anywhere else. But Bachchan doesn’t just survive, he continues to be absolutely vital. He remains the horizon in ways that stars after him cannot even hope to approach. And this fascinates me. But in any case if one doesn’t account for all this in the Rajnikant comparison and one simply looks at how much Paa did versus how much Enthiran did one has simply been brain-dead. This really has to be put in the harshest terms possible. Now of course I would be willing to defend Rajnikant in every way imaginable otherwise (much as I am also a very strong critic of many aspects of Bachchan’s career in other contexts) but those debates cannot happen when things are framed so opportunistically and cynically.
Satyam: Loved the way you have framed your comment here. I think the Bombay media played the Rajni-Bachchan game during Sivaji’s release and I have a strong suspicion that Sena-MNS folks were behind this mischief (remember AB and Sena were having issues then. I mean, think of it, these guys, who literally used to force theatre-owners in Bombay to screen Marathi films, were suddenly fine with the shows of Marathi films being replaced with the ones of Shivaji. And then suddenly this fact was ‘disclosed’ to the people via media that Rajni is a Maharashtrian by birth). And I am pretty sure that Rajni himself would have disliked any such comparisons- it’s very clear Rajni genuinely respects Bachchan. And he will the first to remember how Bachchan’s assistance was used to ‘introduce’ him to the Bollywood audience in Andha Kanoon- I am not aware of any other Indian film where a ‘supporting character’ not just has the first 30-40 minutes completely to himself, but also has an entire story-arc completely separated from the main plot devoted to himself (alongwith the title track picturised on him)
And ‘vital’ is the right word for Bachchan. What is really interesting is that a plethora of new directors are dying to work with him even today. Sujoy Ghosh says that he doesn’t ever want to make a film which doesn’t have Bachchan in one form or the other. And this is even true for the ‘new-age’ directors (I mean the ones who are considered ‘cutting edge’ ones)- Bejoy Nambiar (who made Shaitan and David) has now cast Bachchan with Farhan in a VVC production (Bachchan apparently plays a paralysed chess grandmaster who will be coaching Farhan’s character. Bachchan said that he will begin shooting for it later this year once he is done with Balki’s and Shoojit Sircar’s films). Kashyap made Bombay Talkies with him, is now doing that TV show with him in lead. Even the ‘female action heroines/avengers’ in Bollywood seem to be germinating from his characters- Revolver Rani’s tagline says it all (and if the industry still remembers something Mard, which is not even close to his top-flight stuff, it says a lot). And this influence has extended to other industries as well. I am not just talking about the South Indian ones (Sudeep who is one of the biggest Kannada stars, just 2 years back had a film titled “Bachchan”. And if there was any doubt so as to whom the film was alluding to, Sudeep’s character here is a ‘cop’ who is introduced literally as ‘the angry young man’), but even something like Bengali industry. there is a reason why someone like Rituparno Ghosh, who was one of the stalwarts of the Bengali cinema-revival movement, decided to cast him in The Last Lear- This was based on Utpal Dutt’s play so he could have gone for any famous Bengali actor.
BTW looks like we might have a Bachchan film to look forward to this year since he has started shooting for the Balki film (and would be a treat to watch Dhanush alongside him) so it might release sometime later in the year. Also really looking forward to Sircar’s Piku with Irrfan (though wish they would have chosen someone who is more of an ‘actor’ than Deepika here considering she plays the title-role here and it looks like a performance oriented part. I like Deepika, but Vidya would have been perfect. She worked very well AB in Paa and even in the few scenes she had with him in Eklavya). On a different note, the one regret I have always had is that Bachchan could not do that Ketan Mehta film in the 80’s (they had everything planned, but somehow the film never happened). Always believed Mehta is a very fine director (Mirch Masala is one of the pinnacles of that decade. And both Holi and Mangal Pandey are strong films), but somehow has never realised his potential.
Very apt comment,Satyam. Nothing against Rajni and certainly his BO prowess is commendable but yes, this sudden discovery of Rajni’s
BO power is cynical and oppurtunistic as if it could be used somehow to minimise AB’s stature. Little do they realise, it doesnt work!
@samar,
dude ,I am a saif ali khan fan and been a fan of his for
number of years, between bachan and rajnikant ,bachan has far more impressive stardom then rajni,in his early years bachan films were doing blockbusting business, when it comes to opening
bachan is far in top,
one more thing dude, bachan in his peak career he was from 1-10, 11 was rajesh khanna,12 was jeetendra,so dude when bachan stands thats where the line appears.
1. zanzeer
2. deewar
3. sholay
4. AAA
5.MKS
did rajni starred with amitabh in 3 films, andha kanoon, geeraftaar and hum, correct me if i wrong.
rajni is like a god in the south but bachan is popular every part of the world, can you imagine people in egypt will know rajni,no way its either srk or amitabh.
With Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan’s PHANTOM going all the way to April next year and Saif Ali Khan and Sunil Lulla’s HAPPY ENDING too moving ahead to September, Saif can now afford to relax a little. Otherwise he would have been from one set to another, and that too across countries, what with Sajid Khan and Vashu Bhagnani’s HUMSHAKALS already keeping him occupied.
Mohn,
I am not talking about 70’s or 80’s when Bachchan used to be on top..If you carefully read my comment then you ll see i have mentioned about Rajni’s stardom at the age of 65..He still delivers blockbusters and his films open to 100% response whereas, Bachchan is unable to get an opening for his film..Bachchan himself must not be knowing the exact date when he delivered the last clean hit at boxoffice.
If you check the overseas collections of Rajni’s films, you can see the success story there as well, so he is liked by the obverseas audience also..I think we must judge the popularity of film stars by taking their popularity at ticket window into consideration and that only is the right way.In case if one goes by views of fans then Bachchan is still 1 to 10.
Revolver Rani Slow Start Kaanchi Dull
Friday 25 April 2014 12.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Revolver Rani started started poorly with occupancies around the 15% mark while Kaanchi and Samrat & co. were even lower. Revolver Rani may have chances if it can pick up in the evening but the other two have hardly collected so the pick up has to be miraculous.
The last Kangana Ranaut starrer Queen also started poorly and picked up and Revolver Rani has similar occupancies in the morning to Queen but with a wider release.
The scope for the Queen type of pick up is much less for Revolver Rani as that film had a specific target audience which took to it. The release is around the double the screens of Queen with Revolver Rani going to around 1500 screens while Kaanchi is being screened on around 300-350 less screens than Revolver Rani. Samrat and Co.is a 500 screen approx release.
BO update: Revolver Rani takes the lead
By Bollywood Hungama News Network, April 25, 2014 – 14:30 IST
After last week’s release 2 STATES took the box office by storm, this week’s three releases REVOLVER RANI, KAANCHI and SAMRAT & CO. have got off on a slow start. Though reviews for the Kangna Ranut starrer REVOLVER RANI have been good, the audience turnout has been relatively low. While for the other two films, below average reviews and low key buzz surrounding the films have severely affected collections.
One reason for REVOLVER RANI faring better than the other releases could be the recent success of the film’s lead actress Kangna had with QUEEN. Apart from this, reports suggest that though the film has started off slow, it will be much like QUEEN, with business picking up over the weekend. On the other hand, last week’s release 2 STATES featuring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has continued its run at the box office. While the film has been relegated to the second choice for cinegoers, it continues to enjoy a higher share of audiences as compared to KAANCHI and SAMRAT & CO.
Overall good word of mouth will play a very crucial role for all three films; however, KAANCHI and SAMRAT & CO. will have to battle it out for the third spot, considering that the first two have been occupied by REVOLVER RANI and 2 STATES.
Robot was a Tamil film and you are throwing its nos of Hindi dubbed version.Do gou know how much it collected in South? I hope you know that. Anway, it was a nice joke from you.
This is Hindi movie discussion form .. and we discussed bollywood movies only .. Robot was released in Hindi in 2010 with 1100 Prints and grossed 11 Crore with superb WOM .. otherwise opening was 25%.
Before Robot .. His last 5 Hindi movies were … Bulandi, Atank Hi Atank, Insaniyat Ke Davta, Tyaagi, Phool Baney Angaare … no need to tell the disaster fate of all these movies.
Rajinikant has only four Hindi Hits .. 3 was gifted by Amitabh (Andha Kanoon, Gireftaar and Hum) .. 1 was gifted by Shri Devi (Chaalbaz).
Yakuza,
Amitabh Bachchan is famous in Bollywood and Rajni in South..Both have hardcore fan base in their respective places.By your logic if we start counting boxoffice fate of Bachchan’s movies in South then there will be a big zero..But that is totally wrong..Lets check the pull of both the stars in their respective zones i.e bollywood for Bachchan and South for Rajni..Plus, we are discussing old age star power of both where Rajni is miles ahead..
I think Rajni is the only star whoe’s boxoffice pull is in tact after 60..He enjoys same B.O power that he used to enjoy in younger days..Nobody can deny Bachchan’s star power during 70’s and 80’s but after 60 he couldn’t get a huge opening which is a normal..Same thing is going to happen with Khans and Hrithik as well. But hefe one must give credit to Rajni whoes star power is increasing day by day.
samar,
are you comparing the at 63 where rajni giving hits, then what about at the age of 63 when amitabh gave several hits, films like black, sarkar and bunty aur babli, infact he was given the best actor for BLACK in 2006.
rajni is only know in india ,particular south, amitabh and srk are known world-wide,infact in uk no one bothered to watch rajnikant film.
2 States Has Excellent First Week
Friday 25 April 2014 11.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
2 States had an excellent first week of around 58.50 crore as the weekdays were rock steady. The Monday to Thursday period saw each recording business between the 5-6 crore nett mark which meant the four days collected similar numbers.
The first week figures are similar to Gunday which had the second highest first week total of the year after Jai Ho. The weekday figures were rock steady across all circuits which means a strong hold in week two is on the cards.
The second Friday will be affected slightly by new releases but the Saturday should see huge gains and a good numbers throughout the rest of the week.
Vijay,
The Bachchan films you mentioned were never clean hits barring BNB..Rajnikanth still gives 100% opening and 90% of his films are blockbusters..How many flops Rajni has given in last decade apart from Kuselan where he played ectended cameo?? The answer is none whereas Bachchan has delivered countless boxoffice duds since last decade and if one starts counting those, he really feels fatigue..Show me one Bachchan solo movie apart from black which has done any business in overseas..Rajnikant’s next movie is releasing in 6000 screens worldwide..Now tell me if he isnot popuplar in overseas then why are they releasing it there?? Can you imagine a 65+ man’s film getting this much wide release? How many Bachchan movies have got this much wide release after he turned 60?
@samar,
Amitabh Bachan is the superstar of Bollywood while Rajnikanth is the superstar of South.
Both are Best but they are not compared to each other .
it is like comparing Sachin Tendulkar to Ronaldo.
as they both belong to different sports one belong to Cricket and other to Football.
but they both are sports man.
Similarly Amitab Bachan belongs to Bollywood movies and Rajnikant belongs to South movies
Some people like Football and some like Cricket.
so if people loves cricket they love Sachin instead of Ronaldo
similarly people loves football they love ronaldo.
“so these two great persons cannot be compared”
Answer is simple North people watch bollywood movies loves amitab bachan
and the people who like tamil movies loves to watch rajnikanth.
No problem in comparing say Mohammed Ali in his autumn years Vs Michael Jordan in his autumn years,
But yes, I am tired of seeing people try to make Bachchan Sr less than he was, as well as all the effort to make him look more than he was. What he WAS is no longer THAT relevant, hence give the poor old man a rest.
If you want to start a “flame war” there are so many current topics
1. Who amongst the top three Khans will burn out first ?
2. Has Deepika already outdone Sridevi & Maduri at their peak ?
3. ………
Deepika is somewhat like Zeenat aman at her peak. Madhuri and Sridevi are fabulous classical dancers besides being extremely talented actresses.
The 3 Khans will last for another couple of years.
As for comparison between Bachchan and rajni, one should not forget that rajni has no major health issues nor he had an incident like Coolie which has crippled Bachchan for a long time. Bachchan’s spirit and enthusiasm in the face of his health issues has to be kept in mind. They also cater to different audience.
Bandra NRI,
Here are some people who want everybody to say” there was, there is and there will remain Bachchan in Indian film industry”..There moment you start praising anyother star here, you’ll be attcked by these gentlemen.. Nobody should deny what Bachchan has achieved in the industry but the credit should be given to such extent one deserves not like this..
In the words of the legendary actress Anna Scott, “this fame thing is not real”. At the end of the day, nothing that anyone says is as loud as the statement from the BO.
Mohn,
Your example of Sachin and Ronaldo is totally illogical as both belong to different world of sports..This example would have been valied if i had made a comparision of Sunil Gavasker and Vishunathan Anand..But i haven’t done that..Rajni and Amitabh are actors, movies of both release in cinemas and both are 65+..Rajni has his fan base in South and Bachchan in North..Here the difference is Rajni fans leave their all work when his film releases whereas Bachchan fans prefer to stay at home whenever his film releases..So Rajni is far ahead in terms of Stardom.
Was revisiting some 90’s stuff and came across this after ages from one of my favourite films of that decade)- I adore this song-video (even if Jatin-lalit have lifted the tune from Rasputin). And watching this I realised that at a point of time I somewhat liked SRK…love him in this video-
None of the Srk movies is worth to qualify as somebody’s favourite movie.Srk,Salman and Bachchan fall in same category as far as script sense is concerned.Amir being the exception here followed by Hrithik. Both have done some quality movies whereas, others selected craps.
samar,
what quality film do ritik falls for, what was that name he did for sanjay leela bansali, cannot remember now, asume that was quality, failed at the boxoffice,I remember now “GUZAARISH”
Revolver is going to flop for sure. Will be surprised if it is another Queen. Sometimes you feel movies try to be quirky for the sake of it.
Happy for 2 States as inspite of not being bowled over, it has some merits and the lead pair is likeable.
Will work kill us b4 we kill it?
Anyhow folks -u all seem to have reached mars
I’ve jus enuf reached the next song of the album-poor me
Well done SEL & benny Dayal
And above all amitabh bhatt acharya (lyrics)
To all my beloved gals…
Tere aane se pehle theek tha

Pehle tha banda kitna kaam ka
Khaali refill jaisa ab fizool hoon
Raaton ko.. main jaagun, main jaagun

2 States Heading Towards 100 Crore
Saturday 26 April 2014 12.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
2 states had a solid eight day grossing around 3.25 crore nett and going over the 60 crore nett mark. The collections are around 61.50 crore nett in eight days.
The film will show a huge jump on Saturday as the drop on Friday from Thursday was mainly due to the three new releases who combined hit nearly 3000 screens across India. Still the collections of 2 States was more than the three films combined total.
2 States has a shot at the 100 crore nett mark although it will depend on what happens in week three and four. Although the 100 crore mark is not the same as a few years back as business has gone up and then there are films whose totals get inflated to show a 100 crore but for a film like 2 States a century will be a big achievement and it has a chance on being a genuine 100 crore grosser.
evolver Rani And Kaanchi First Day Business
Saturday 26 April 2014 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Kaanchi and Revolver Rani had low first day collections although the latter came out on top by a margin. The collections of Kaanchi were in 75 lakhs nett range as per early estimates while Revolver Rani was around the 1.75 crore nett range.
Kaanchi is a poor show and the opening day figures are less than the Subhash Ghai films released 10-15 years ago like Yaadien and Kisna which both grossed around 1.50 crore nett on day one and these films were failures..
Revolver Rani made little impact despite the heroine Kangana Ranaut’s last film Queen doing well. The success of Queen was expected to get a better opening for Revolver Rani from the trade point of view but the box office does not work like that and the collections of Revolver Rani were similar to Queen on day one despite twice the screen count.
Samrat and Co. was very dull and collections should be around the 25 lakhs nett mark.
yes I guess you were right here.. doesn’t look like this is going anywhere. Unless it puts up surprising numbers over Sat and Sun. the thing is that Queen’s success story was itself unusual. You normally don’t get such strong trending for any kind of film at any level. It’s certainly rare. And so replicating it would always have been improbable. The only way then was to start off with stronger numbers and RR clearly hasn’t done it.
“It’s certainly rare. And so replicating it would always have been improbable. “-
What is also astonishing is the way people have strongly ‘identified’ with the film and Kangana’s character- I have never seen such a phenomenon happen before. Quite a few acquaintances have told me that they have had experiences similar to Kangana’s in their lives…there are some very fine pieces in the blogosphere on the same. I liked the film (and I think Kangana’s performance was absolutely stellar), but what I don’t understand is that something like Udaan never elicited this sort of public reaction inspite of being a far better film (though one of the reasons for this is that it was not a mainstream work like Queen so few people saw it at the time of release. But even then it doesn’t get the love it deserves).
BTW earlier life-altering experiences happened on the battlefield (Vijeta), now they happen infront of Eiffel Tower or in a Tomatina festival (ZNMD). Ye Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum!
And I still believe that Gangs of Wasseypur’s (especially the first part. The second part underperformed comparatively, but one should remember that it faced competition from Ek Tha Tiger. This sort of competition is really lethal to films which depend on word-of-mouth publicity) box-office achievement is a pretty singular one. Irrespective of the fact whether one likes the film or not, the sort of impact this film has created has to be realised. It has already become a modern-day Bollywood film classic of sorts and has really developed a very strong cult audience. Also Kashyap, after this film,is being seen in a completely new light.
I’ve really enjoyed Draft Day. Unfortunately, they don’t make too many movies like these days. Another winner for Cosner here after Bull Durham, Field of Dreams and Tin Cup. As much as Costner seems to be synonymous with huge 3 hours epics and westerns, I think these sports movies have been marvellous with him.
Saturday Box Office Figures – 2 States Dominates
Sunday 27 April 2014 14.00
Box Office India Trade Network
2 States is totally dominating the box office this weekend and can go to around 15 crore nett for its second weekend which will be more than the three new releases combined. Kaanchi, Revolver Rani and Samraat & co. have failed to make any impact.
Revolver Rani is the best of the lot but it failed to make much gain on Saturday which was expected as Friday did not show an upturn in the evening.
Kaanchi is a poor fare while Samraat & co. hardly has any collections. The two day collections of 2 States, Kaanchi and Revolver Rani are as follows.
2 States (Second Weekend)
Friday – 3,25,00,000
Saturday – 5,00,00,000
TOTAL – 8,25,00,000
Kaanchi
Friday – 70,00,000
Saturday – 80,00,000
TOTAL – 1,50,00,000
‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ won the Best Cinematography (Binod Pradhan), Best Screenplay (Prasoon Joshi), Best Dialogue (Prasoon Joshi), Best Editing (PS Bharti), Best Sound Design (Nakul Kamte), Best Sound Mixing (Pranav Shukla), Best Background Score (Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy), Best Costume Designing (Dolly Ahluwalia), and Best Make-Up (Vikram Gaikwad). Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone won best performance in a leading role (female) for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani as well as took home the best entertainer of the year award.

Films like Revolver Rani and Rajjo showcase feminism just for the heck of it, without any concern for the gentry, the milieu or the part of the world they want to showcase. They’re bound to fail. This film had shades of Death Proof in terms of the mood captured and importance/relevance of the female characters, and probaly also Sherni (the Sridevi film) and Daku Hasina. But still not sure a film with a woman as lead character would find favor with the audience, at least on the first day of its release. Kahaani made good money. But what was the first day total? 2.5 crores?
And this is the problem with some hindi film directors today.. look I made a female-centric film! I must be applauded. So what’s the film about?
Ans: uhmm.. well.. u seee…
Went to the IIFA, fun stuff enjoyed it but was lacking in star power. JT danced great and surprisingly Kevin Spacey danced pretty good.
PC and HR had high octane performances, rest ok. Siddharth Malhotra scuks at dancing.
Frikking IST in vogue there. Tickets said 6.30 start time and then website said 8 pm, show finally started around 9.45 or so. Show ended around 3 am , reached home around. Pretty f..d up, don’t know why we can never learn to respect time.
Thanks Ravi for your first hand report and it matches a foreign correspondent’s perspective here –
“The show started on time by IIFA standards, 100 or so minutes after the 8 p.m. printed on tickets. It lasted long enough to forget where you parked your car, at 3 a.m.
The IIFA show was exhausting, extravagant, exhilarating, and expensive and more words starting with “ex-” — a spectacular so sloppy that it could never be shown on live television. Cues were botched. Clips were run out of order. All this music and not a single acceptance speech was played off the stage.”
The IIFA show has become like other shows where stars do shows for a fee. Instead of fee, they will get awards, exposure, freebies. The desis get a glimpse of stars to spice up their routine life. Who complains?
2 states is a well-deserved suxess. As for Alia-she is neither ‘leggy’ nor ‘endowed’ (as per nykavis criteria) but has a different appeal.
Also she doesn’t even try to hold an acting masterclass ala vidya balan in every scene. Someone was criticising her for that. But at her st/age– it’s best to go with the flow & not try to ‘dominate’ every scene. For eg apparently she was good in the ‘sex in the dorm’ scene…
Song number 3 imo
Ishq ki dhooni roz jalaaye
Uthta dhuaan toh kaise chhupaaye..
Now I do not know how many of you have seen this underrated gem of a film. However, after having watched this film yet again (for probably the sixth or the seventh time), I must say that it has aged pretty well. It was a box-office washout when it released, probably owing to the huge costs and lack of any major star, but this one has terrific repeat value. With Damini, Ghayal, Ghatak, China Gate, and Khakee, pretty darn good flicks all, I am convinced that very few filmmakers of the current generation understand masala cinema better than Rajkumar Santoshi.
This one was a solid remake of Seven Samurai and also had some really good performances from a perfect ensemble cast. With the likes of Om Puri, Naseer, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, and Danny sharing space, what more can one ask for? The film also, thankfully, had no songs to hamper the narrative, except for the perfectly placed and catchy Chamma Chamma.
A damn good action film. This is how they’re supposed to be made!
The Amazing Spiderman 2 Has Good Start
Thursday 1 May 2014 15.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
The Amazing Spiderman 2 took a good to very good initial of around 50-60% at multiplexes. The film had an early release as it is a holiday in many states in India for various reasons. In Maharashtra it is Maharashtra Day, in UP it is Maharshi Parasuram Jayanti and in states like Andhra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal it is a bank holiday for May Day.
Though the opening is good it could have been better as some places have opened a bit low considering it is holiday. The release on Thursday is practically full out with the possibility some single screens added on Friday
It will be a big figure on Thursday even going to record levels for Hollywood films. Due to the holiday it should be setting a record comfortably but that remains to be seen. The Hindi releases will have a Friday release as none really have the face value to take benefit a holiday.

Why Saif Ali Khan can now take it easy?
With Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan’s PHANTOM going all the way to April next year and Saif Ali Khan and Sunil Lulla’s HAPPY ENDING too moving ahead to September, Saif can now afford to relax a little. Otherwise he would have been from one set to another, and that too across countries, what with Sajid Khan and Vashu Bhagnani’s HUMSHAKALS already keeping him occupied.

But yes, I am tired of seeing people try to make Bachchan Sr less than he was, as well as all the effort to make him look more than he was. What he WAS is no longer THAT relevant, hence give the poor old man a rest.

2 States is totally dominating the box office this weekend and can go to around 15 crore nett for its second weekend which will be more than the three new releases combined. Kaanchi, Revolver Rani and Samraat & co. have failed to make any impact.

Ans: uhmm.. well.. u seee…

A 60+ yr old JT Vs a 30+ (maybe 40+) yr old Roshan. Clearly the deck is loaded against JT, but he seems to be up to it.

Does anyone remember China Gate?
