yes sanjana.. it was total chaos out inside n outside ikea hyd store.. i live few blocks away from the store. i can vouch for it.. ideally it takes 15 mins for me to reach home from ofc. however yesterday night it took more than an hour to reach my place.. phew..
I meant Kamal hasan. He is wearing too many hats thereby neglecting the central thing called a coherent film. At the end of the day a good boxoffice success will not harm anyone.
I don’t buy this story. This is the sort of thing which is fed to the media when you’re not in a big film (for whatever reason) and you pretend you yourself walked out it. yes, things don’t work out for all sorts of reasons at different points but the story is usually much more complicated than presented in such pieces. So ‘I didn’t do it because I didn’t get 60 crores’ is hard to believe! As if Hrithik has so many other projects better than this one! According to some of the other stories he’s even willing to do a Yashraj film with Tiger. TOH would be a no brainer for any actor. As the younger star you get to do everything. If you’re seen as overshadowed by Bachchan in some important sequences well there’s hardly any shame in that!
At some point i read something being written on the lines that hrithik was upset that yrf did not go back to him after the initial discussions. The reason maybe that adi rolled his eyes at the 60 cr demand or maybe victor said no to the script changes that hritik supposedly wanted. The fact remains that yrf went to aamir instead and then the script was reworked.
With Hrithik this would be maximum 500 Cr WW, now it has potential to be 2000 Cr WW. YRF will have the last laugh & Hrithik is better off in the dance film with Tiger which will be good for both of them.
Yes, but it’s a fact that he was offered the film and he dithered on it for several months. It was widely reported back then. When the film was then offered to Aamir, the latter sat down to make modifications on the script and signed on the dotted lines.
It’s a fact that Hrithik has been making terrible decisions. Lack of volume accompanied by poor choices. His current line-up is far less impressive than even the likes of Devgan or Tiger Shroff.
Having watched some movies at recent film festivals. I can say
Puzzle and Searching are the best movie this year so far.
Puzzle – stars Irfaan khan in a strong supporting role. Got a chance to see this at advance screening in May after its sundance film festival premier. This is about a housewife’s daily life and struggle with herself. Masterclass dialogues and performances standout.
Searching – I had watched its trailer long back, but got a chance to see it at advance screening in Texas University last month. I still can’t get over riveting plot and twists in the story.
And More than Anything, Biggest Surprise came from Rohit Karn Batra. Saw ‘The Field’ in a private screening in Austin Last week. Though, it is Hinglish movie than Hindi or English creates barrier and caters only to those who have command in both. Nonetheless, This will remain one of the best film this year regardless of the language barrier.

Hi . Quite fascinating to watch or rather read peoples comments here and I am surprised how things have changed in indian cinema. I first came here many moons ago when i came to read Satyams posts from bigb yahoo group. Didn’t really bother to write anything but today I guess I got nothing better to do :). I wonder what age group most of the people are here.
Watched Rahasya. Another angle of that famous double murder case which is still dragging. Liked it. And all the arty actors from Kay Kay to Mita Vashisht made it worth watching. Rahasya and Talvar. Two sides of a coin. The real one is out there in the courts with the latest news of the case getting fresh life.
Not good. Hindi version has done roughly 1.75 cr nett on day one, while Chennai collections are just 70 lakhs (Kaala did 1.76 cr @CBO on opening day). Seems like a flop show for Kamal. At least Kaala had an average run at BO.
yes it’s somewhat underrated. Did need a sharper script (of course it’s derivative, off some Korean film or the other) but I do like the overall feel here. I’m more likely to revisit this film than Pink.
The child walking away with foot-steps bloodied is Manjule’s way of metaphorically depicting a bloodied limbo for the child in terms of what could be left of its remaining life [Being an orphan, what will become of the child? The family has dis-owned it. It might end up as a juvenile or a rag-picker or whatever. Who knows?]; of a child that’s as yet not been printed with the bearings of a divided society. Any form of art is allowed to manipulate the audience to convey the greater arc of societal moorings via the limited time the medium of cinema or a play offers. The kid’s parents started running with a danger to their lives ever-since they met, and Manjule, through the child’s bloodied foot-steps, conveys 2 things: The child is not just the blood and flesh of its parents but also will forever carry forward the legacy of their ‘bloodied’ life.
I remember reading this review and once again I went through it. I enjoyed the film immensely as it brought back some personal memories. The film is a visual treat as well. No words to describe Bachchan’s middleclass act. This is how some middleclass families live and go through their chores. Aamir Khan May Co-Produce Biopic On Gulshan Kumar If Underworld References Are Toned Down
Aamir Khan reportedly wants the film to focus on Gulshan Kumar’s rags to riches story
Aamir Khan has suggested changes in the script of Mogul
Earlier, Akshay was signed to play the lead role in the film
Mogul is written by Subhash Kapoor, who will also direct the film
The biopic on T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar appears to have got a new helping hand none other than Aamir Khan. The Dangal actor is reportedly considering to co-produce the biopic, titled Mogul, if Subhash Kapoor, the film’s writer and director, agrees to make a few changes to the script. A source told mid-day that Aamir wants the film to focus on Gulshan Kumar’s “underdog story” with minimal references to the underworld. “The screenplay is currently being tweaked to make it more about Gulshan’s rise from being a fruit juice vendor to the owner of the biggest music label in the country. Aamir is a big believer in underdog stories,” a source told mid-day.
“Aamir wanted the underworld details to be reduced. The alleged role of the underworld in Gulshan’s death will be eliminated. The film will just touch upon these topics,” the source added. Subhash Kapoor declined to comment on the latest development saying, “I am under an NDA with T-Series.”
Initially, Akshay Kumar was signed to play the role of Gulshan Kumar in Mogul. However, due to creative differences Akshay opted out of the film and also returned the signing amount. Before Akshay had quit, Tulsi Kumar (daughter of Gulshan Kumar) had said that Akshay was the “perfect” choice for the role. As per the mid-day report, the filmmakers are still looking for an actor to play the role of Gulshan Kumar.
Says a source close to the development, “They are looking at Salman Khan or Ajay Devgan. It has to be an A-lister. Bhushan wants to immortalize his father through this bio-pic.”
The problem is there are grey areas in Gulshan Kumar’s bio-pic (for example, his alleged hand in popularizing music piracy). And top-notch actors are wary of going there.
Just came back from Mission Impossible (Imax). A good watch, had some good moments but overall left little unsatisfied. I guess due to sky high praises I’ve been hearing about it. I don’t see what makes it better than any other MI. Certainly it’s not better than the first part.
The bathroom fight sequence was well done. Best since the True Lies.
was watching Fanaa interviews – any old write-ups here about the movie and its reviews? That was a lovely movie and if it were released in today’s times – would have raced away to 350 cr easily
Fanaa was not reviewed very well. Very minimal promotion as well. It is a guilty pleasure for me. A still unsolved mystery is why Aamir looks the way he does in the first half. A small gripe that I have is Aamir almost always never mentions Fanaa when he talks of his sucessful films.
yeah it is like old wine…..amazing chemistry between both the lead actors and songs were superb! That is becoze of his foolish stance against Narmada during release – movie never released in Gujarat and he faced lot flak from Gujju ppl that time for not understanding the whole picture!
When a film is banned in gujarat, it does stupendous business. Whether it is Fanaa or Padmaavat. Many gujjus travelled to mumbai just to watch this film according to some reports. We have to differentiate between politicians and people.
I am not sure of the shooting timelines (been so long), but he had a bit of bloated look (but not so much!) in RDB also if you look closely. The RDB haircut did not make it that obvious i guess. By the time he was shooting Fanaa second half, he was back in shape.
Aamir …drinking problem? 🤔 Well, he was said to be depressed and drinking ‘ a Bacardi a day’ after his divorce in Dec 2002 ( as per a Kaveri Bamzai interview cum cover story in India Today a few years back). And I think that would have been the ONE phase of his life when he had this problem. Fanaa released in May 2006. I have a feeling he got his drinks under control after Kiran and he started off together some months after his divorce. They got married in Dec 2005 — and he looked trim enough.
In fact a RDB was a Republic Day 2006 release. 2006 was the only year in recent times, to have had two Aamir releases in one year. Now he releases one film every two years.
May not be just the drinking problem during that break. He may had been under anti-depressants too. My frd gained lot of wt when he underwent such a therapy.
LS – better to ignore Marcus’ comments 🙂 if u see last few weeks comments from him – it is a one-point-agenda: Criticize Aamir. Better indulge in a more constructive arguments with others 🙂
Lol where did i criticize aamir? By bringing out some of his history that u may be ignorant of, or because i said fanaa is one of his weaker films in post lagaan phase?
Its sad that for most indian fans their idols have to be infallible figures and fans need to worship their failures too. Instead, think of what he must have gone through in that phase of his life and yet he came back so strongly.
According to sources, Reliance bought the film off Kamal Haasan as a premium product after Kamal Haasan personally requested them to help with the financially troubled project. “Reliance took on the project on faith. They were not allowed to see a single frame. Nor were they invited to make suggestions. It was presumed that Vishwaroop 2 would live up to the reputation of the first part released in 2013. However, the sequel turned out to be cut-and-paste follow-up with some footage repeated from the first part,” says a source in the know.
will Gold work with it’s patriotism and jingoism against the English when Indian cricketers are at the receiving end from the English? I honestly don’t feel like going and cheering an India win when reality is way different .
LOS ANGELES — Going into the weekend, “The Meg” looked like a big, fat belly flop for Warner Bros.
Surveys indicated minimal interest in the killer shark movie, which cost at least $200 million to make and market. Rival studios snickered that Warner’s new marketing chief had made a rookie mistake in backing “The Meg” with a campy ad campaign: Make a joke of your own noncomedic movie, the Hollywood conventional wisdom holds, and ticket buyers will stay home.
Guess who is getting the last laugh? “The Meg,” a brassy, brainless, computer-generated mishmash, took in $44.5 million at North American theaters — roughly 120 percent more than most analysts had expected. “The Meg” collected an additional $97 million overseas, with China contributing half of that total.
“The Meg” was co-financed and co-produced by Gravity Pictures, a Chinese company, and designed to sell tickets in China. The movie co-stars a Chinese actress, Li Bingbing, and the 70-foot shark at its center threatens a crowded Chinese beach in one action sequence. “The Meg” stars Jason Statham and was directed by Jon Turteltaub, whose last big-budget movie was the 2010 flop “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
Thank you for this link. India’s history, it’s crumbling monuments, some so unique, all need to be preserved. We have such a wealth of historical reality still standing. Amit Parischa is doing a good job, documenting them, in his special Panasonic style.
The article mentions a Chausath ( 64) Yogini temple, in Madhya Pradesh, near Gwalior. Some four years back I visited a similar Chausath Yogini temple in Hirapur, near Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. The place was clean, green, rural, not overrun with tourists unlike the big temples in the city. And this Shakti sthal gave off to me, a pleasantly unnerving energy. Check it out on google.
wow. Talking about Yoginis…..I came across a person in Guj. few years ago. My friend took me to him. He said he was in active touch with one of those 64 Yoginis. Obviously, I had no reason to believe him. But then, he did not take any money from any one and when one-to-one, he started telling everything about my past and things which no one knew…..!! well…these things are real for sure me now….having experienced many concrete miracles after that when that fellow helped me out with few life-situations….would love to visit that 64 Yoginis temple LS…

On the whole, SATYAMEVA JAYATE is a powerful and gripping drama that leaves an impact as it resonates with the problems of the common man. It is sure to work big time in the single screens where the various scenes are bound to induce claps and whistles. This one is for the masses!
For the uninitiated, Kajol was last seen sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna which featured her in a cameo. She was only seen grooving to a portion of the track in the film. In fact, Amitabh too will be seen in a guest appearance in Helicopter Eela. He is expected to feature in an integral role for an important sequence in the film. However, further details on his role are being kept under wraps. The filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar revealed in recent reports that they required him to be a part of a particular scene in the film and that the megastar agreed to do it instantly. Sarkar added that he already shares a great camaraderie with Amitabh and the latter is also quite close with Kajol and her actor hubby Ajay Devgn.
Speaking of Helicopter Eela, the film is an adaptation of the Gujarati play Beta Kaagdo. The film also stars Neha Dhupia in an important role and is slated to release on September 7, 2018. It is produced under the banners of Ajay Devgn and Jayantilal Gada.
Citing prior research, the study said, “The reason why we respond socially and naturally to media is that for thousands of years humans lived in a world where they were the only ones exhibiting rich social behavior. Thus, our brain learned to react to social cues in a certain way and is not used to differentiate between real and fake cues.”

JHA:

Rest of it was pretty much same as others.

It was not an usual run on the mill romance, but one of his weaker films since his comeback from depression. Better than dhoom 3 for sure!

He was coming off a drinking problem when he was shooting the first half. That may be the reason why he looked so bloated.

‘The Meg’ Is a Surprise Box-Office Monster
