He was one of my favorites & I’ve watched almost all his films, the last one being Angrezi Medium. Acting came so effortlessly to him, he was just terrific. May his soul Rest In Peace. Condolences to his loved ones,” he wrote.

Just a few weeks back I showed my daughters the two scenes from Angrezi Medium where he goes to her daughter’s house with a box of peda , and she telss him knock karna chaiye thaa na !, and another one with Kareena Kapoor in the hospital.
those are scenes are extremely moving , specially the way Irfan enacted them.
I first noticed him in Banegi Apni Baat.

  14. Very sad news. The last comment I posted was on Angrezi Medium trailer that its our privilege to witness an actor like Irrfan and he’s coming back for couple of years in his sickness to do a movie and wish to see him more. Never expected that would turn out to his last movie. He reached his peak with Hindi Medium and also won Best Actor Filmfare award and then got sick and never able to capitalize that success. He did one off sequel with same team in sickness but he’s not was never going to come back fully till he recovers completely.

Truly sad and how life writes the screenplay. With no health issues you suddenly discover you are sick and gone in couple of years!

Irrfan, you will be remembered by movie fans always!

  16. Rangan on Irfan-

He got flavourful Kamlesh Pandey lines to chew on, and he spat them out with unbelievable flair: Neend mashooqa ki tarah hoti hai. Waqt na do to rooth ke chali jaati hai. It’s not easy to walk this prose-poetry tightrope. The world-weariness he channels here made me think of another equally unconventional-looking (and tall) leading man: Amitabh Bachchan.

It was possibly the closest Bollywood has gotten to the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers dynamic, of which it was said: He gives her class, she gives him sex.

Numbness, yes. That’s the feeling now. As the grown-up protagonist of Life of Pi, Irrfan gets to say these prescient words: “I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.” He wrote his own epitaph. Too soon, dear Irrfan, too soon!

Irrfan Khan’s HEART-BREAKING Last Words To Brother: “Fikar Na Karo, Mai Aoonga”

Irrfan Khan’s younger brother, Salman, took shared a beautiful memory with the actor. “Even after cancer he was frequently into calling us up. He used to cheer us up by saying lot of things,” he revealed.

The actor’s last words reportedly were “Amma has come to take me.”

  21. A great actor, indeed. One of the two best Hindi film actors of his generation — the other being Manoj Bajpai.

Together, they kind of rekindled memories of Naseer and Om Puri in their prime. With Om Puri also gone, we are running on thin ice, indeed.

The way he said, “Everyday since then has been a… gift” in The Namesake remains etched in my heart, to this date. Perhaps forever.

Irrfan Khan redefined poise on screen. RIP, master.

I never imagined I’d feel this way about an actor, that the emotions I’m experiencing now. And not did I once realise in all these years leading up to his demise what a presence he was in all our hearts. I knew he was ailing but post the release of Angrezi Medium thought that was well on the road to recovery. One day greeted me with news of his being hospitalized, while the next day I woke up to that if his death. It had been so quickly that it came a sudden shock. Truth be told, never had I ever felt that for another actor.

He was a man of extreme talent, a wistfulness and a casual, hypnotic charm that made his performances look so easy. I doubt if I ever saw any bad performance of his, right from his Salaam Bombay and Chandrakanta days. In the latter he was particularly hypnotic and Badrinath and Somnath: the twin roles he carried with majesty and elan. After watching him in a few episodes of Star Bestsellers, I wondered why he was not so effectively utilized. He was a bundle of talent, waiting to explode in screen. People believe that The Warrior was his turning point, but filmmakers in India took particular note of him with Haasil: finally a great role that brought him to the limelight, where he just swallowed everyone with his sheer presence. He owned every single scene he was in, and made even the other good actors pale in comparison. Maqbool followed, and so did a slew of other great works: The Namesake, Life in a Metro, Pan Singh Tomar and so on. There were a few films that could have been simply unwatchable without him in them: Karwaan, Qarib Qarib Single and even the disastrous Thank You, where his scenes alone made it watchable in only those portions

A rare and gifted actor who, unlike many other Indian actors who claim to be known to an international audience, was taken note of by the big players in Hollywood, and given meaty enough parts in their biggest productions: Jurassic World, Amazing Spiderman Life of Pi, Slumdog and Inferno. Always felt that his best was yet to come and he left for heavenly abode a bit too early. His rise, which he so deserved in his early years, was only witnessed 10-15 years ago.

Villagers in Maharashtra’s Igatpuri have decided to pay a tribute to late actor Irrfan Khan. They have renamed the area where his farmhouse stands to Hero-chi-Wadi (neighbourhood of a hero in Marathi).

According to a report in India Today, the villagers were grateful for all that Irrfan had done for them. The actor gifted the villagers an ambulance, computers, books, raincoats, sweaters for their kids and would also send sweets on festivals.

“He was a guardian angel to so many families. He never said no whenever anyone asked for help,” Gorakh Bodke, a member of the Zilla Parishad told the website. Irrfan bought his house in Igatpuri a decade ago when the met the locals and decided to help them.

He was so impressed with Irrfan’s acting style that he even tried to copy him. He continued, “And as soon as I walked up to him I said, ‘Irrfan Khan, I’m going to steal from you everything I possibly can. I’m going to start speaking very quietly in films. I’m going to wear very nice suits. And I will draw out the last sound of every sentence that I say.’ And by doing that, I will be doing a very pale imitation of the coolest guy in the room.”
