I would like to mention that almost all the award functions demoted me and Farhan from main leads, and nominated us as “supporting actors”. Hrithik and Katrina were nominated as “actors in a leading role”. So by the industry’s own logic, this was a film about a man and a woman falling in love, with the man supported by his friends for whatever decisions he takes. There are many covert and overt ways in which people in the industry lobby against you. In this case it was shamelessly overt. I of course boycotted the awards but Farhan was ok with it. #familyfareawards Very creative artwork @kalakkii

  5. The film, a lighthearted drama with a strong emotional cord running through, is set against the backdrop of immigration. It’s an untitled social satire that marks the first collaboration between the filmmaker and actor after two unsuccessful attempts to work together during Hirani’s Munna Bhai MBBS and 3 Idiots days.

SRK reportedly has planned a blockbuster comeback with multiple projects that he intends to shoot next whole year. However, he has so far okayed only Hirani’s film while other speculative projects by Raj & DK, Siddharth Malhotra and others are still in the discussion stage. SRK has asked these filmmakers to wait for normalcy to return to decide how he wants to go ahead with their offers.

Finished watching all the episodes of Your Honour.
Confusing movie about fairness and unfairness.
Timepass. One time watch. Jimmy Shergill, Mita Vasisht, Suhasini Mulay were good as expected. And there is Varun Badola with a substantial role.

And Yashpal Sharma and the one who played the brother of the accident victim are also quite good.
But there are many unanswered questions. How can the judge escape inquiry and dismissal for his role in protecting his son?
While the usual rogues are rogues, the judge and his cronies are real rogues and I dont have an iota of sympathy for them.
The son readily accepts his father while shedding crocodile tears and so is his girlfriend lawyer.

Oscar-nominated British actor Ian Holm, famed for his roles in Hollywood blockbusters Lord Of The Rings and Alien, died on Friday aged 88, his agent said.
Nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal as the coach Sam Mussabini in the 1981 award-winning film Chariots Of Fire — which also saw him earn his second BAFTA and best supporting actor award at the Cannes Film Festival — Holm appeared in a host of top international films.

Dumping to product cloning to debt traps in economically backward nations to currency manipulation, the Chinese rogues have pretty much taken over the entire world in the last 20 years. A systematic strategically organized economic war needs to be declared on these thugs with the likes of US, Australia, UK, India, Rest of Europe forming an alliance to impose strict tariffs on Chinese imports and broadening the horizon of trade. China’s blatant misuse of the WTO has been evident since the last 2 decades, more appalling is how the so called global powers have fallen into their dirty trap.

So now Ghayal > Dil post repeat runs in 1992. Complete manipulation, blatant lies as usual.

    • There is no manipulation. I saw Ghayal’s re-run figures on Trade Guide at time of its release and the figures were excellent. It beat a big film’s first week figures (I don’t remember which film exactly, but IIRC, it was either a Govinda or Vinod Khanna film) on its re-run first week. Week after week, it was beating new releases. It was even beating multi-starrrers.

      The re-run figures were humongous.

Sonu Nigam on Monday warned T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar against maligning his name. The singer came down heavily on the music honcho in a new video titled “Laaton ke MAFIA baaton se nahi maante.”
In his new vlog, Sonu Nigam warned Bhushan Kumar against maligning his name. “Now, I need to take Bhushan Kumar’s name. You’ve instigated the wrong person. You forgot that time when you came to my home and pleaded me to do one album for you, pleaded me to introduce you to Subrata Roy, Smita Thackeray, Bal Thackeray… Pleaded me to save you from Abu Salem. Do you remember all this? I’m warning you not to engage with me in any manner. Hope you remember Marina Kuwar. I don’t know why she backed out, though the media knows. That’s how mafia functions. I still have her video. Now if you mess with me, I will post that video on my YouTube channel. Don’t you dare mess with me,” Sonu said to Bhushan Kumar in the video.

Aamir Khan would not have any such problems as Khan cartel is hands in gloves. They just beleive in crishing the opposition to keep theor fort intact. The current beginning of the downfall (for actors it had begun few years ago) and prestige of such cartels is now rightfully picking momentum.

I am sure all big stars have done this but the Khans and TSeried specially stand out for getting away despite doing it vigorously, purposefully, openly and annoyingly over the year.

Compete but dont marginalise. Same goes with their fans who dont decry the idiocy of their stars and keep supporting them. Apne pe aayi hoti to watt lag jaati.

Why are you doing it now for publicity? I, myself, have directed so many of your father’s music videos and he was always grateful for that)… But some people r thankless. #achasiladiyatunemerepyaarka,” she wrote.

In my Mani Ratnam movie watching spree, I checked out what remains two of the crowning glories in his oeuvre.

Thalapathi is a Rajnikant show and does justice to the movie watching sensibilities of the Tamil audience of the early 90s. With characters resembling those of the Mahabharata, in particular Duryodhana, Karna, Kunti, Draupadi and Arjun, it is a fine spin-off and a solid masala entertainer.

A grand takeaway: such an awesome display of colours and tints and shades to represent and build moods. And the cast is just splendid. I am not much versed with Mamoothy’s performances, but he just brings so much of personality and character to a role that could have easily ended up being one dimensional. As already mentioned, Rajnikant is overbearing in his screen presence, the camera loves him, and there is just a strong connect with the viewer, even when he might be a lesser actor than Mamoothy on a textbook level. Shobhana, meanwhile, is grace personified. She moves like a goddess in her dances, and has a rather expressive face.

A tight pacing and a strong emotional masala movie connect is what Thalapathi is. For those who haven’t watched it still, it is strongly recommended.

Did watch Nayakan too, and thought it was a superior film, so writing on it alone might not do justice to the masterpiece. Many scenes are Godfather-like. But it seems that it couldn’t have originated elsewhere except the Indian milieu: the dock mafia, the Tamilian who, despite being an ‘outsider’, becomes the darling of the masses in the alien land of Mumbai, the class oppression, and so on.
P.S. Kamal Hassan’s portrayal of Velu Naicker is one of the best acting stints I’ve ever seen in Indian cinema. There’s no other way to describe it.

  23. Watched SDR. Too much bhaashan too much smoking, too much everything. I liked only rishi kapoor’s dialogues and acting.
Even web series have this stock smoking scenes and smooching scenes which are so boring to watch series after series, episode after episode. Why do we imitate west so blindly? Why, why , why?
Cant people or ladies be rebellious without using all these gimmicks and cuss words to boot? Cant directors use a bit of imagination than going for the same thing lazily? In otherwise good drams, these forceful inclusion of all these gimmicks spoils the viewing.
Well, this is my conservative self speaking.
Anything in moderation is good. Anything excess is not good.

And do westerners stopped fantasizing about India as a land of magic and ropetricks now? Have we impressed them by our progressive content?

SDR is Shuddh Desi Romance. There is nothing shuddh or desi about it.
