On one occasion, she says, Freeman “kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear”. Alan Arkin, a co-star on the film, reportedly told Freeman to stop. “Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say,” the accuser, who chose to remain anonymous, added.

Another woman, who was part of the production staff on the 2012 heist thriller Now You See Me, alleges that Freeman harassed her and an assistant by make crude comments about their bodies.

“We knew that if he was coming by … not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted,” she said.

In a statement, Freeman said: “Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected – that was never my intent.”

  7. BULBBUL: It’s been a while where I have watched a movie 2 times back to back. It was possible coz of its short length of 90 mins. Totally loved and even though not perfect(near the ending), it has enough meat and great script, extraordinary sets and camerawork, you would be hard to blink anywhere in the movie. The dialogues are very smartly written and background score is also brilliant and haunting. Overall, recommended watch and its on Netflix!

      • It is not at all a horror film, not sure why it’s being wrongly publicized. It has little gore(just 1 scene) but overall very layered feminist drama!

I want to add that Tripti in title role of Bulbbul is simply great performance and would love to see her more. It’s her 2nd movie with same leading actor of her debut Laila Majnu, Avinash Tiwary here!

  10. Amitabh Bachchan fondly recalled his co-star running around ‘enthusiastically ready to carry my bags for me’ while filming a blink-and-miss scene for his first film.

Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan revealed how Mithun’s entry on the sets of Om Shanti Om, where he pitches in an appearance along with 30 other Bollywood stars, caused a near stampede.

‘All the light boys and spot boys rushed to take pictures and autographs,’ she stated in its ‘making of’ video.

    These are lovely memories.

But when we think of Mithun Chakraborty, we rarely think of his collaborators.

No, we think of his fans whose love, loyalty and excitement for his erratic, eclectic cinema, going the whole hog between terrific to trashy, led to the cult of Mithun Chakraborty, the people’s hero.

  11. Abhishek continued, “I’m thankful for it, because as it is, I was very uncomfortable doing romantic scenes. So I’m not comfortable doing any intimate scenes, and I’d rather not.” The actor has said that he has made this a stipulation. “I say that to my directors before signing on, that if there’s a scene which has a lot of physical intimacy, that’s something I’m not willing to do, so you have a choice.” He said that a 100% of the times, the directors did away with the scenes altogether. “If they say this is integral to my storytelling and they really can’t wrap their heads around doing it in a differently aesthetic way, then I say ‘look, you have a choice, I’m very happy to bow out’.”

Alia Bhatt’s Sadak 2 to get direct-to-OTT release, Mukesh Bhatt says ‘This is the only option left’
Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur’s film Sadak 2 will be released online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The uncertainty around the reopening of theatres, which were shut down in the wake of coronavirus pandemic has pushed the makers to consider a digital release. “It (number of COVID-19 cases) is increasing day-by-day instead of subsiding. In this situation do you think the theatres will open? And even if they do and Sadak 2 is released, will people go to watch it? People have to protect their families. Today, life is more important,” Mukesh Bhatt told PTI.

The producer said the team is yet to finish the shooting on the film, and they are planning to resume the work in July. “We have a two-day shoot left which we intend to begin next month. The post-production is going on in full swing simultaneously,” he added.

Bulbull is a fine film.. Don’t quite understand what people were expecting from it. Eerie, wistful and backed with strong performances. A little too stylized, perhaps, which turns the focus away from storytelling. This is no Tumbbad, but yet a compelling watch

    **SPOILER ALERT**
An unanswered question: Was the ‘badi bahu’ living as the chudail all this while after the incident? If that was the case, it’s an interesting thought, but one that is still far-fetched even for a horror movie.
The one scene of sexual violence was, however, very disturbing for me. Left a bad taste.

This could be a small shop in a village or a huge pharmaceutical company and if these are doing well then you will want your own to continue with them rather than selling up or letting others run it. Its called keeping it in the family as no one wants to let go of a good thing and that is irrespective if the off springs have the knowledge or talent to take the business forward.

  27. As OTT gains prominence, we need to ask if due diligence is followed by content creators specific to the Indian context- Prasoon Joshi.

    https://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/content-on-ott-platforms-moderation-india-entertainment-industry-prasoon-joshi-6484009/

Let me reiterate, no matter how frantically we want our entertainment products to succeed, certain things must be non-negotiable. Many of us talk about women’s empowerment and give lofty lectures. However, when it comes to the portrayal of women in cinema and entertainment products, we turn a blind eye. There has to be a correction — dare one say, over-correction — in this regard. Also, we cannot, in the name of art, and for commercial gains, compromise the vulnerable section of our society like children. As makers, let’s not take clever shelter under “context” or other such nomenclature; or conveniently blame it on the audience’s muddied understanding. This should be the last justification for creators, especially when concerns loom about a trust deficit between them and the audience.
Whilst we collectively explore the next phase, for starters, I believe we need to stop defending missteps. And with an open mind, course correct and discuss the emerging reality, genuinely and honestly.

    Sufiyum Sujatayum.
Always had a special love for malayalam films. Maybe the greenery, the water, down to earth depictions drew me to malayalam films and kannada films which showcases the beauty of wayanad, malnad and other green scapes.
Sufiyum sujatayum starts with alla hu akbar prayer sung by a young, handsome sufi. He has a master, an old man who is also a musician with an insturment, clarinet.
A mute hindu girl, only daughter of doting parents is a teacher who teaches dance. She is attracted to the voice and prayer of sufi and falls for him too in due course.
Their love is not approved and Sujatha is married off to a well educated and understanding person chosen by the elders. Sujatha leads a reslless life and 10 years pass by.
    And then…..
The beauty of the film is its music, songs, dances, forbidden love and an interesting climax. A moody film with some sunshine thrown in.
God gives pain and he also takes away the pain. I am substituting allah by the generic term god which will apply to all believers.

Bollywood gossip columnists and film ‘critics’ are like the mainstream media where the royal babies are pampered and given a free pass, because how dare an outsider try to lay claim on something that is inherently theirs.
Unfortunately, Masand isn’t the only one with nasty bone. Pinkvilla, another online Bollywood gossip blog wrote a blind item on 30th May, 14 days before Rajput committed suicide. In the column titled “Guess Who: This actor has been asked to vacate his apartment after neighbours complain of his lifestyle”, Pinkvilla describes this actor as ‘weird’.

And when he was not being painted as a molester, he was portrayed as a difficult person. Remember that Subhash K Jha’s really nasty piece in Congress mouthpiece National Herald, barely a day after Sushant committed suicide? Subhash K Jha had gone to great lengths to prove that Sushant Singh Rajput was having major psychological issues. Citing some unheard of woman as filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s close associate, Jha wrote how Mahesh Bhatt thought Sushant Singh Rajput is reaching Parvin Babi level of paranoid schizophrenia.

  45. Do Words Have the Power To Kill? – Apurva Asrani
    https://urbanturban21.blogspot.com/2020/07/do-words-have-power-to-kill.html

I am among the few from the film industry that continues to question why Sushant Singh Rajput was bullied in the period leading to his death. Some of my friends have come to the conclusion that Sushant was depressed, couldn’t handle the stress that came with the movie industry, and therefore took his own life

All sorts of nonsense was written about me. One piece claimed that I didn’t edit Satya, my first film that I also won a major editing award for. Another claimed that I didn’t co write Shahid, a film I jointly won a screenwriting award for. My name as co-writer was suddenly dropped from Shahid’s IMDB page (its still remains taken off). One portal, Spot Boye! tried to claim that even Aligarh, my most personal work, was stolen from another writer. This journalist called my writing collaborator, Ishani Banerji, and tried to get her to talk against me. When she refused, they carried a headline that seemed like she had implied that I shortchanged her. I was really upset.

I tweeted to name the people/publications behind the sustained blind items against Sushant. I also named popular journalist Rajeev Masand in my tweets, because most of the blind items about Sushant doing the rounds, some of them incredibly mean, were written by him in his Open Magazine column. But by no means do I intend for him, or any portal to be singled out. There is a bigger system at play, with so many different kinds of characters functioning oppressively since time immemorial. How then, can one person be held responsible for Sushant’s death? But to accept this system as the norm, and to shut people up from calling out the wrong doers, that is unacceptable too.

I am not surprised to see that I am being ostracised by many of my industry peers for taking on this fight and naming names. Besides Manoj Bajpayee (thank god for him!), not one industry person has reached out (so far), even privately, to say that they are with me. Soon, someone will try to discredit me with some slander on a portal or a tabloid. But that doesn’t scare me, I’ve seen these games played before.
