Commentary is from the WC game between Eng-SA for this catch.
This will come as a surprise to absolutely no one, but just to make it official, congratulations to Ben Stokes who is the first winner of @Nissan#POTD for his outrageous catch against South Africa at The Oval! 🔥🏏 pic.twitter.com/hvJOSDrljI
I have been saying for ages, inspire of #1 ranking, our batsmen cannot deal with bouncy or swing conditions. Australia would have been same but for Pujara and some degree Kohli, we came back 2-1.
Our bowling has been a disappointment well. The inability to get the tail out cheaply continues to haunt us. Meanwhile a full strength Australia with Smith, Warner and Labu is waiting for us later this year. Will be another thrashing.
Kohli and his abstinence from eating meat impacting his game? he still is hitting a leather ball. he should not play cricket as a matter of vegan principles. only tennis ball cricket for virat.
No need to eat meat to hit a ball. Was he not doing fine during T20 matches? And there are protein shakes and soya products.
What about his meat eater team mates? Why they are not getting it right?
I know. But there is a difference between eating meat and using animal products. We all use belts, shoes, purses, bags, medicines which also has animal origin. Some prefer vegan diet because it is more healthy according to them than for any moral or ethical consideration. Kohli may belong to that category of vegans. And leather products are made mostly from dead animals than living animals.
haha…I have never followed Football except playoffs; he shows up ever year along with his coach. I think he should have retired as Patriot.
Kobe has legacy with Lakers which Shaq cannot have; even though I think Kobe taking lots of share of salary cap contributed to Lakers being dismal towards end of Kobe’s career.
In a good news for football, that has been brought to a halt worldwide due to the outbreak of coronavirus, Ajax star Abdelhak Nouri, who collapsed during a friendly against Werder Bremen almost three years ago, recovered from coma, his family confirmed, adding that he had been responding to football on TV since he woke up.
The footballer, who suffered permanent brain damage, is now being treated from home. Nourie had collapsed during Ajax’s pre-season friendly against German club Werder Bremen. He required emergency treatment from paramedics on the field and had to be airlifted from the field.
I have been very fortunate throughout my career to have played alongside men who inspired through their deeds. There are lessons to be learnt, like I did, from the way they carried themselves. Over the next few days, I’ll be paying tribute to teammates who influenced me immensely
His trail-blazing career is the stuff legends are made of,but even more endearing is his commitment, passion & respect for the game that made him what he is.Staying grounded despite the adulation he received is a remarkable quality, one of the hallmarks of his greatness @sachin_rtpic.twitter.com/J0ZJX6AOZ1
A giant in every sense, he rose above and beyond the call of duty. The grit, drive and bravery displayed through this picture is quintessential @anilkumble1074 .Never giving up, no matter what, was a trait which made Anil the cricketer he became. pic.twitter.com/pEPNgVRcPA
Unconventional and fiercely proud, @SGanguly99 wore his heart on his sleeve. And, sometimes, bared it too! Empowering youngsters who went on to do wonders for the country was credit to his great leadership qualities. pic.twitter.com/wCVuRctqPD
The game’s most committed student, Rahul was the ultimate team man, responding to every challenge with complete dedication. Despite being in a position to say ‘no’, he not only kept wicket in white-ball cricket and opened the batting in Tests, but did so with utmost diligence. pic.twitter.com/W7eEyK53DX
A tearaway fast bowler from a relative cricketing outpost of Mysore,he triggered a revolution in Indian pace bowling. Even in most unhelpful conditions,he always responded to the team’s needs with unflinching zeal. Sri’s strength was his hunger to perform under adverse conditions pic.twitter.com/zEwy36lrDT
It stoked their political consciousness, especially that of Richards. He wore a wristband in the colours of the Rastafari movement. “Green for the land of Africa. Gold for the wealth that was stripped away. Red for the blood that was shed,” Richards explained in the documentary ‘Fire in Babylon’. He was a friend of Bob Marley and the Wailers and used their protest song ‘Get Up, Stand Up’ as his personal anthem.
From Greig’s verbal taunt arose a cold, hard fury. Like every one of his teammates, Richards took it personally, savaging the English bowlers, plundering 829 runs in seven innings, with two double hundreds including his highest of 291, forewarning bowlers around the world of the brutality he was to subject them in years to come.
When I saw Rahul Dravid for the first time, it was in a match held at Sharjah probably in 1998. My first impression was that he had a ‘compact’ name – the name did not end with a consonant as most Indian names do (was a ‘compact’ name according to a 13-year old me). The second thing that struck me was his helmet which was different from that of others with a grey rectangular patch that protected the batsman’s ears. The helmet fit his persona like a Tee along with a compact stance with no part of his slender body protruding outward as to disturb his poise. When he stood to face a bowler, he looked like he was sculpted like an automaton whose only purpose of existence was to face balls with a sturdy bat.
If all these initial impressions sound like they are positive, I must clarify that they certainly were not, owing to the way he paced his innings that day. I don’t remember exactly how much he scored but all I felt about him that day was that he was blocking not only easy deliveries but also my opportunity to see my idol Mohammed Azharuddin bat. I still cannot define precisely why I loved watching Azharuddin who was in complete contrast to Dravid but what amazes me even more today was my adolescent fascination to mimic the former’s singular gait – raised shoulders and a slightly hunched back that made him look taller than even an actually taller Venkatesh Prasad.
Afridi said he always got a kick out of playing against the Indian cricket team and that some of the cricket he’s enjoyed the most in his career has come while playing against India and Australia.
These are two different things. To make an educated guess or taking a chance with probability factored in is one thing, but to persevere amidst ruins is a different thing altogether! One can say, with Dada, in terms of strategies, and with Tendulkar, in terms of taking on the opposition head-on, things changed for India. That I agree, but to take a chance, first, one needs to ‘survive.’ Champions are built of a different mettle. Without Laxman and Dravid’s defeat-defying knocks, the match was gone. You can only build a house if you have a solid foundation!!
Dada, Tendulkar, Dravid, VVS – each one of them had a unique gift that they adorned the team with…
Good to see Test match is resume in England. Amazing show by Holder, Gabriel. I kind of like Holder. He is the best all rounder there is today and very suited to English conditions. Over other all rounders such as Ben Stokes, Shakib Al Hasan (the later is only suitable on doctored pitches in Bangladesh)
your thoughts on the home side umpire? 5 out of 6 lbw appeals were overturned by DRS after the English umpires gave the decisions against Windies. A few umpires call also went in favour of England. A case for giving the visitors umpires call since umpires are showing obvious bias?
What % of the ball hits the stumps doesn’t matter, if DRS shows us that the ball is hitting the stumps, it should be given out, regardless of the on-field call. That's the motive of using technology in Cricket. As we know technology isn’t 100% right but neither are humans.#ENGvWIpic.twitter.com/8At80AtRs5
England Pakistan what a Test. Abbas bowled the ball of the summer to Stokes in the first innings. Shan Masood wonderful 150+.
A injured Stokes comes back to get a couple in the second innings. England depend on him so much. A world cup win followed by an unbelievable Ashes winning 100 in the fourth innings. Stokes is a superhero this year.
Yaseer Shah with four wickets shows what a dust bowl bully Ashwin is. Since India faced problems with England tail last time they were in the UK for Tests.
England need to revise their batting order for next innings. Pope at 3, Buttler at 4. Since Buttler seems to bat best with Pope at the other end. Let’s see. Chasing 250+ against the Pakistani attack with the ball gripping and spinning will not be easy. Pakistan pacers are looking threatening as well. This promises to be a humdinger of a series of Test cricket.
Holder, what were you thinking putting England to bat on winning the toss twice? For only that goof did WI lose both their Tests at Old Trafford, Manchester this year.
After MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina announces retirement from international cricket
Suresh Raina has announced his retirement, less than one hour after MS Dhoni announced his. Both players were seen reaching Chennai for an IPL training camp earlier this week.
Fabulous rearguard century by Azhar Ali. with so many criticism about his captaincy really a brilliant 141* and he is still going strong is 2nd innings.
Reminiscent of Gambhir’s 137 in Hamilton in 2nd innings.
Jimmy Anderson on the cusp of 600. What a career for a fast bowler.
A draw will be helpful for India and Australia as it would keep a distance between England and India. I guess the only other team with a realistic chance to get to the final is NZ since they play Pakistan and WI at home. They are hard to compete at home
as a lefty, a leg spinner for a right hander turning the ball into the on side for the lefty to target cow corner would be a good opportunity not to miss out. if Pooran was given the opportunity again, he would have asked for Sodhi to be the bowler
Don’t think Sodhi bowls the wrong’un as much. or for that matter has many variations
It’s the rule.
United States Tennis Association statement said: “In accordance with the Grand Slam rulebook, following his actions of intentionally hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly within the court or hitting a ball with negligent disregard of the consequences, the tournament referee defaulted Novak Djokovic from the 2020 US Open
Think referees had no choice. If they don’t follow the rules – they’d get drawn into special treatment debate.
I’ve seen the video of the incident and it is rather innocuous. But do note 5 mins earlier he has hit the ball back even harder and hit the advertising board instead.
Right decision for sure even if for something silly.
1) The rules should be common knowledge to a professional tennis player period
2) It’s clearly an accident with no malicious intent involved
3) However he’s vented frustration already in the match. The 2nd time he has done harm
4) The bigger picture is if the referee doesn’t default him what does every other tennis player think? Or fans too? It would reek of favouritism and the fall out even greater than following rules and protocol.
5) Official can’t mid way just determine rule is stupid
Read the BBC articles on this. 90% of ex players BJK, Navratilova and others have agreed with the decision. Everyone accepts it’s an accident but he has broken the rule.
Djokovic 5mins earlier does same thing. There are examples when players have been defaulted. Bottom line it’s part of rules.
If you’re saying it’s a silly rule – fine. Djokovic can negotiate his way out but if officials sign that off…assume a lot of players would be pissed too. This decision was following rules. And I think it’s the better option then giving special treatment.
not asking for any special treatment. it’s like capital punishment for a petty robbery. Give him a point/game penalty but the entire match and tournament is unfair
any rule or law should be accompanied with common sense in judgment (clearly lacking in this case). Each law should have a disclaimer saying to be used only by those match referees with common sense.
Do you know in FL it is illegal to wear masks covering face in public. If cops went around writing tickets in 2020 for each case of violation, FL would be the richest and sickest state during the pandemic
You have common sense laws you expose everything to negotiation, fraud and corruption. Some laws have to be black and white and some are filled with judgement for good reason.
Djokovic is the world’s #1. He is supposed to set the example, the tone for the sport.
I think you should read what every ex tennis player or commentator has said about this. It’s not a trivial thing.
Media is inaccurately reporting that Djokovic smashed the ball into the lineswoman. Not true. He gently lobbed it towards her think she is one of the ballgirls who would catch it. it is a very reflexive shot. No anger or dissent on display from the Champion. For that very reason he should have been acquitted imho
can’t disagree more with you munna. she was in same colors as a bb/bg. also linesmen and women should be taught to catch and duck effectively to prevent such accidents
‘She’s done nothing wrong at all’: Novak Djokovic extends support to line judge after online trolling
Novak Djokovic, who was disqualified from the US Open, has extended support to the line judge whom he accidentally hit during his fourth-round match against Pablo Carreño Busta.
All the best to @ChennaiIPL & @mipaltan for today’s match. Wishing all the players to be healthy and have a good game. Do well @ImRo45 & @msdhoni Can’t wait to watch you boys! Big hug from 6 feet away.
two overseas players cost KXIP the match against DC
Chris Jordan leaks 30 runs in the final over against Stonios. When he gets his chance to score 1 run in 1 ball against Stonios he ends up offering a catch of a full toss. This in an over that saw KXIP lose a run due to a short run called by on field umpire against Jordan.
Nicolas Pooran duck in the innings followed by another first ball duck in the Super Over bringing curtains on KXIP hopes.
What a knock by Mayank Agrawal though. Too bad it’s in vain but he had got them almost there single handedly. He should have been more circumspect with 1 required of 3 balls

“Tendulkar has Mumbai and Kolkata, Kohli has Delhi and Bengaluru but when you talk of Dhoni it’s whole India.”
The great Sunil Gavaskar on Saturday said Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s popularity in India has exceeded the level of fandom even the great Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli enjoy in the cricket-crazy nation.
Speaking about Dhoni before the IPL opener, Gavaskar said, “Since MSD comes from Ranchi, which doesn’t have a cricket culture as such, the whole India loves him. Tendulkar has Mumbai and Kolkata, Kohli has Delhi and Bengaluru but when you talk of Dhoni it’s whole India.”
Staying in self isolation for the first six days after spending five months with family was the hardest phase, according to Dhoni, who spoke for the first time in months.
If Kohli had 'practiced' say with his driver, and Gavaskar had pointed that out, then it would have become about 'class' and 'caste'. Saala it's about lockdown. At least Gavaskar ko toh chhod do. He was also being woke about boycott of Pakistan during World Cup.
On Friday, legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar found himself in the middle of a controversy for allegedly making an unsavoury comment against Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma after RCB captain’s worst performance during an IPL game on Thursday.
While commentating during the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab, the former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar criticised Virat Kohli over his poor performance against Kings XI Punjab after the RCB captain dropped two important catches and also got out much early in the game.
Gavaskar, who was commentating when Virat Kohli came to bat at the third over of the second innings, made a remark that involved Virat Kohli’s actor wife Anushka.
Referring to the poor form of Virat Kohli, Gavaskar wittingly said, “Lockdown tha to sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki unhone, wo video dekhi hai, usse to kuch nahi hona hai.” (He only faced Anushka’s bowling during the lockdown, I have watched that video, nothing is going to happen from that)”. Sunil Gavaskar was referring to a video that had gone viral on social media in May this year, where Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were seen playing cricket on the terrace of their house. A full Lockdown was in force at that time, and sportspersons were not allowed to visit playgrounds.
Gavaskar's exact words were that Virat was so desperate for practice that he was playing cricket in the lockdown with Anoushka & neighbours had actually taken a video of that. What exactly did he say that was demeaning? Or did you hear something that I obviously missed? https://t.co/KQK2TT5MCh
IMO Anushka would not have made that statement without the approval of Virat .
So may be something is not right between Virat and Gavaskar.
they need to sort it out.
Gavaskar is too senior, experienced and classy to make the kind of statement which people with dirty minds are making it out to be.
Even I thought something similar lines but then I saw the footage, it is harmless…
But I think commentators shouldn’t bring family member as a rule…they are not party to happenings on field.
Amusing that we never see nonsense like 8 sixes in 11 deliveries in an international game (saw Andre Russell do the same last IPL against RCB before his pajamas became langot in the ICC World Cup). Nor would a fielding captain bowl his second fast bowler instead of a spinner in the penultimate over when his first fast bowler’s gone for 5 sixes in an over. Just seems fishy!
Chetan Sharma has a smirk on his face after this result. Sharjah is easy ground to be hit for 6s and he was vilified for 34 years for that infamous 6 off his bowling
Well Sharjah was never as batsman friendly as this during the 80’s & 90’s. Nor do we see International T20 have freak incidents like 8 sixes in 2 overs or 7 in 9 deliveries (Russell vs Rcb in 2019) or the perpetual slow coach MSD (whose lost India more games batting at a snail’s pace at no. 6/7 in the last 5 years than he won the team during his prime when he batted at 3/4/5) almost getting 26 off the final over to win a game. Either the quality of death bowling is totally pathetic or the IPL games are pre planned for an anti climax. Coz even by the usually mediocre T20 standards, these events are way to repetitive.
what makes you think international matches were not fixed in 80s? Miandad’s son is married to Dawood’s daughter. Plus Salim Malik we all know his reputation
Where did i claim the matches of the 80’s & 90’s in Sharjah weren’t fixed? However spot fixing was impossible in the pre digital era & it took more than half the team to fix a result entirely (something that even Cronje & Azhar struggled with despite being captains). T20 cricket as a format is a gold mine for rampant spot fixing & with the technology we have today coupled with the subtle nature of the game, its impossible to detect (unlike a test match where obvious efforts of throwing a game can be observed as a pattern like Mohd Amir’s no balls in 2010).
it was 21 off 2 overs. If the spinner had conceded 18 to 20 runs, no use of having Shami save a few deliveries of last over. Maybe KL Rahul should have held back Neesham’s over
Overseas players hurting KXIP likes of Jordan. Cottrell leaking 30 runs in one over at the death. Maxwell and Pooran not being able to accelerate in at key junctions. They need to do some soul searching.
For CSK pathetic openers and their management (including captain) willingness to give them unlimited opportunities. Pace bowlers also a concern with a fragile middle order.
Rahul’s not a full time keeper. Samson is a good choice for now although I still believe in Pant being a long term option (test hundred’s in UK & Aus in the first 2 years of his intl career, something which MSD’s worthless test career couldn’t achieve in 11 years!).
I rather take a match saving 76* of Dhoni in 4th innings at Lords “being 9 down” over a couple of centuries on flat tracks – in UK we still lost and Aus we didn’t win where even Jadeja came close to getting a century . Dhoni’s effort ensured India won the series.
If Dhoni was so conscious about milestones why would he retire from Tests after playing 95 Tests without going for the 100.
Plus Dhoni at the same stage Rishabh Pant is in achieved much more in white ball cricket than Pant today.
Dhoni gave up on test cricket post the 8 consecutive defeats in UK & Aus in 2011-12 & in fact, never bothered reinventing himself or the team in the longest format. He almost went on record saying he had no desire to play test cricket further, yet continued captaining till 2014 in Srinivasan’s influence (including an embarrassing home series defeat to Eng in 2012). Post test retirement in 2014 even hid ODI game went slack batting lower down the order at 6/7 & never being able to accelerate. He was never the Yuvraj or Pandya kinda stricker who’d get you a 20 ball 40. Even in his prime he needed 5-6 overs to get his eye in before changing gears. Which is one of the biggest reasons Ganguly continued insisting he bat at 4/5 in odi’s. But MSD’s defiance & carelessness batting lower down the order cost India dearly. Just the lack of intent was appalling in the 2nd half of MSD’s career for a player of his experience & calibre (just like scoring 10 off 13 in a run chase & then hitting 3 sixes when your team needs 36 off 4).
The 76* would never have been as great as what MSD worshippers make it seem like had it not been for the rain & Bucknor’s pathetic umpiring where he saved India the test by turning down a plumb lbw appeal against Sreesanth. Dhoni was a great odi batsman till 2013-14 batting at 3/4/5 but in tests he never took himself as seriously as he ought to have.
“Plus Dhoni at the same stage Rishabh Pant is in achieved much more in white ball cricket than Pant today.” – Pant’s 22. MSD played his first ODI at 23. Pant’s UK hundred in the 4th innings which almost revived India’s chances (with Rahul’s 149) was a classic. We eventually lost but the fight put up by the 2 was memorable.
Ishan Kishan should get a serious look in as the World Cup wicket keeper over Rishabh Pant. 516 runs in IPL 2020 at 57.33 and strike rate of 145+. Been the rock for MI in the middle orders along with SKY
CSK are at the bottom pit. They need to make a couple of revolutionary signings for replacing Rains and Bhajji. Maybe Pujara for stability in the middle, Yusuf Pathan or Jalaj Saxena.
What a joke innings by CSK. Like I said when Raina and Bhajji pulled out CSK should have taken Yusuf and Jalaj. They wouldn’t have to play Jadhav at 7 behind Jadeja and Dhoni as a pure batsman.
Also somebody as Yusuf would have kept Jadhav on his toes. But now complacency has set in. He can just be invisible and get away with making 7.8 cr
He is the poster boy for hygiene after Toilet Ek Prem Katha l, a brilliant social drama touched the hearts of every indian. His superb acting ensured several ads for him post the success.
“a brilliant social drama touched the hearts of every indian”
Lol at ‘every Indian’. Yes the footfalls of this movie was 150 crores! The statement is not true even for every ‘SS’ user, forget dreaming about every Indian.
A movie which is entertaining and with a very good message is rare.
The last such movie of similar genre couldnt cross 100cr.
This is like a blockbuster in this genre.
If someone havent watched becasue of ideological, political, economical or jealousy reason then we are omit them.
“Yodha Says:

tell that to the person who constantly tries pumping and injecting Akshay is every discussion/thread/topic.”
LOL
Akshay has 7 release in 12 months. This is like other actor’s number of movies in 10 years.
So what Akshay is doing is creating 7 times the content of other stars.
Trailer, songs, analysis…it is Akshay all the way.
Bhaukaal machaa diya hai re….
Problem with Yodha, Master and Z (all three have shown annoyance with this) is that there is no solution other than covid which can stop the unstoppable.
Content is raining, infact pouting. I i do not share, others will. Nahin Bach paaoge. Dukhi hona tai hai. Switch Maaroge nahin lekin complain karoge, Brouhahahaha….
what a disgraceful IPL 2020 CSK has had. The team that always made it to the knockout stage till now is almost on brink of failing this time around. Batsmen to blame Jadhav and Dhoni. Dhoni failed as captain and Fleming as coach. Why is Jadhav even selected in the XI?
Shivalay, get your knives out and have another stab at Dhoni
The shortest format, over the years, has witnessed the dominance of batsmen across the globe with bowlers having little to play for on flat decks with short boundaries.
Does the legendary Gavaskar foresee see a rule change to ease the pressure off of bowlers?
“The T20 game is doing very well and there’s no need to tinker with it,” Gavaskar told PTI during an exclusive interview from the UAE where he is working as a broadcaster for the Indian Premier League.
Great accomplishment. Looks like both Nadal and Djokovic will finish ahead of Federer. I think they are capable of chasing Serena’s 23 GS post modern era record too.
Finally a much needed win for US🥳 Wish our team wouldn’t give heart attacks to people in the name of cricket. Statutory Warning @lionsdenkxip games are not for the faint hearted. I really admired the fight back from the RCB Bowlers in the end. #Ipl20#Dream11#RCBvKXIP#Ting ❤️
Bumrah and Shami are yorker specialist..
I see Tyagi (RR) doing good in future. Mavi is better as of now but in long run Tyagi will do better..
Rahul Chahar and Bishnoi are good.
For effort, Tewatia and Sam Curran..
I still don’t get how RR have been paying so much to Unadkat.
reminds me of Williamson of what little i’ve seen of Ruturaj. you heard it first from me.
that 6 was caught by a KKR player outside the boundary. if only he was in play 😉
anyways CSK should hold back only limited players for 2021 including Gaikwad, Jadeja, Dhoni(c), Du Plessis, Chahar, Rayadu and dump the rest. they carried too many passengers this season like Watson, Vijay, Jadhav(worst of the lot), Jagdeesan, Chawla, Ngidi, K Sharma, Thakur, Curran, Tahir.
maybe try out Santner to see if he performs in the last match of 2020 against KXIP.
Lol, why is that an issue? So if he retires today, he can’t teach youngsters? Just FYI: Imran Tahir was highest wicket ticket just last season – 26 wickets in IPL 2019 and Purple Cap winner. He just played 2 matches this year. He’s 41 years as well.
why none of the franchise selected Kyle Jamieson who troubled Indian batsmen during their NZ tour. Given that Baz McCullum and Fleming as NZ. And Fleming’s team is awful, they could have looked at him as Bravo’s replacement for remaining series
Tall and quick. What CSK are missing. Plus he can bat
support Indian coach and Indian captain in the IPL – KXIP with Kumble and Rahul, both from Bangalore city
KKR – McCullum and Morgan
RR – Smith and MacDonald
MI – Pollard (after Rohit’s injury) and Jayawardene
RCB – Kohli and Katich
DC – Iyer and Ponting
SRH – Warner and Bayliss
CSK – Dhoni and Fleming
no use wasting sleep. This match is gone from India’s hands. They are playing horribly with no respect to the Australian score.
Kohli, again, horrible.
LOL Jay. 375 was a humongous target and needed significant contribution from Kohli. Rohit Sharma not present will be a factor. I don’t understand when Kohli will start valuing his wicket; at least in big chases. The lack of another bowler is another factor as well.
Aussie batsmen are in fine form. This is an uphill tour for India.
Vaughan even went on to say that Australia will ‘convincingly’ defeat India in all formats.
“Early call … I think Australia will beat India this tour in all formats convincingly … #AUSvIND,” Vaughan tweeted.
India’s chase did not start well as they lost skipper Virat Kohli for just 21 while youngsters Shreyas Iyer (2) and KL Rahul (12) failed to rise to the challenge.
why Kohli keeps selecting Chahal in playing XI? Just cause He is RCB teammate? Chahal may have a good cricketing brain but limited cricketing skills. His cricketing brain can be out to use from outside the playing XI as well.
Saini, Chahal and Siraj selection because of their proximity to Kohli? All play for RCB and we seen how dependent they are on ABD and VK for bailing when bowlers have leaked runs
Chorus for Rohit for white ball captain till 2023 WC is only gonna grow now. Esp since MI’s performances in the IPL and the fact that India’s only major tournament win in ODI cricket since the 2013 ICC Trophy has been the 2018 Asia Cup under Rohit Sharma himself. Kohli’s team selection right since the 2019 WC Vijay Shankar/Dinesh Karthik blunder has been extremely directionless and lacks basic sense.
Didn’t expect this. Great shots and understanding between Jadeja and Pandya. That 6 from Jadeja at 47.6 where he moved to his feet all the way was a gem; a very difficult shot for a left-hander; it calls for a total circular motion of the lower back.
Liked it. Hopefully, India win. Nevertheless, unlike the other 2 games, India has given its best. So good luck India.
Things that work in T20 doesn’t necessarily work in ODIs; even yesterday, Pandya was gasping for breath with all the running. Even though he scored 90+, his strokes were not clean unlike Jadeja. Same goes for bowlers in terms of stamina ; Hazlewood is a mediocre T20 bowler but very good ODI and Test bowler. With Kuldeep, he starts with bang in any series but people tend to figure him out as series go on.
Pandya was India:s most consistent batsman of the ODI series with probably the best series average. I felt Jadeja should have been MoM yesterday for his quick runs, wicket and catch. Also completed his quota of overs in a series which has been a bowlers nightmare
“I was always available for white ball cricket but I have had shabby treatment from the team management who have mentally tortured me, and that’s unacceptable.”
“PCB chief executive Wasim Khan spoke with Amir this afternoon who confirmed that he has no desires or intensions of playing international cricket and, as such, he should not be considered for future international matches,” a PCB release said.
“This is a personal decision of Amir, which the PCB respects.”
Amir angered head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis with his abrupt decision to retire from Test cricket in July last year.
Younis accused Amir of “ditching Pakistan” while continuing to play league cricket to earn money.
"If he does have a chink in his armour it's the ball which does come back into him…
"Quite often leaves a big gap between bat and pad and that's where the Aussies will target." @RickyPonting at his peerless best for the Prithvi Shaw wicket #AUSvINDpic.twitter.com/4nh67zBcpU
Oh man! Nathan Lyon was almost gone! India has done well to take Aus down to 8 wickets with a 97 run lead, albeit with some poor fielding. Tim Paine looks to go for the long haul though with his 50!
Hopefully India doesn’t let them get a lead below 70 at least..Still 18 overs to go today…
let’s talk about P Shaw. Bowled for no score both innings and dropping a dolly of Labuschagne. Whoever made the decision to play him in XI should be sacked
Choosing a T20 specialist Prithvi Shaw over an in form KL Rahul (whose more of a traditionalist) is brainchild of legend, some of which we saw in the 2019 world cup with the selection of Vijay Shankar ahead of Rayudu or Rahane.
Playing quality seam is a bane for this batting line up, we’re back to the 90s and far off from the era of Sachin, Dravid, Laxman & Ganguly. Pujara’s been ineffective overseas except for 1 series while Rahane’s Indian cricket’s biggest disappointment in the last 5 years. Exact reason why we lost in SA & Eng in 2018, NZ in 2020 & now might lose 4-0 in this Aus series.
Am watching Pak – NZ T20; First Guptil and now Seifert is clobbering the Pak bowlers all over the part – Wahab Riaz was particularly singled out by Seifert. And they aren’t slogging shots that have been glamorized in the ugly, gully cricket named T20.
From, PAK, a brilliant innings by Mohammed Hafeez – 99 of 50 odd balls. A great innings with cricketing strokes.
Thank you God; since all fathers-to-be from Indian team are out on paternity leave, I have something at least in terms of cricket..
However, it is stunning to see the crowd – ABSOLUTELY no social distancing; feels like I am watching a game pre-2019!!
Technology being what it was in 1974, I heard rather than saw India fold up for 42, the previous lowest score, on the radio. The ‘Summer of 42’ is what college wits called it, after a mildly titillating movie of the same name released a couple of years earlier. Unlike Virat Kohli’s men, one of those vintage losers managed the distinction of double figures: Eknath Solkar made eighteen. He even hit a six. Then, as now, we didn’t lose all ten wickets because our No. 11 was injured.
The psychological difference was that in 1974, we were the poor relations of world cricket, not its paymasters. We didn’t expect to win. Ajit Wadekar had done wonders with his team over the previous three years, defeating West Indies and England in away series in 1971 and then beating England at home, but Indian expectations were shaped by decades of defeat. The Indian team had been hammered in the first Test that summer, so when they collapsed in the second, we were disconsolate but not surprised. Despite three magical spinners-Bishan Bedi, Erapalli Prasanna and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar – and two first-rate batsmen in Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Viswanath, a win was always a nice surprise. Post-defeat depression was our default setting.
The BCCI must rush Dravid to Australia to help the team. No one can guide the batsmen better on how to play the moving ball in those conditions. His presence will be a huge boost to the Indian team in the nets. In any case, the NCA has been shut due to Covid for the past nine months, leaving him with little to do,” Vengsarkar was quoted as saying by The Times Of India.
It’s for the first time an indian captain has been deservingly named captain of icc ODI and T20 team of the decade. No mean achievement this. Sad to see it getting dominated by Big 4 countries and for the first time no one from Pak.
Team of the 21st century: Real Madrid First place medal
Player of the 21st century: Cristiano Ronaldo First place medal
Coach of the 21st century: Pep Guardiola First place medal
This is pathetic again. Horrible thinking from Jadeja to get Rahane out and now he couldn’t even focus on the ‘real’ goal of getting India to a 200 lead. Starc is now on fire like anything.
That’s why the trio of Sachin, Rahul, Laxman were the last leg of players who could easily slide in and slide of a 1 day format to T20 to tests.
even 36 run target in India 2nd innings would be tricky. Given how they catapulted at Adelaide. India’s s cond innings batting is extremely brittle overseas. I had posted a list few months back. Add to that the 36 run at Adelaide
for Ashwin to confirm his competitiveness, he needs to perform strongly with bat as well. he is batting like a tail ender. unacceptable. he seems bit casual with the bat not putting a price on his wicket

The footballer, who suffered permanent brain damage, is now being treated from home. Nourie had collapsed during Ajax’s pre-season friendly against German club Werder Bremen. He required emergency treatment from paramedics on the field and had to be airlifted from the field.

Staying in self isolation for the first six days after spending five months with family was the hardest phase, according to Dhoni, who spoke for the first time in months.

https://www.opindia.com/2020/09/fact-check-on-alleged-sexist-comment-on-anushka-sharma-by-sunil-gavaskar/

IMO Anushka would not have made that statement without the approval of Virat .
So may be something is not right between Virat and Gavaskar.
they need to sort it out.
Gavaskar is too senior, experienced and classy to make the kind of statement which people with dirty minds are making it out to be.

“I was always available for white ball cricket but I have had shabby treatment from the team management who have mentally tortured me, and that’s unacceptable.”
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Amir’s decision.

I don’t even see a 150 lead now.

Ajinkya Rahane: 112 and 27*. Also captained brilliantly after the Adelaide disaster, loosing Kohli, Shami and the toss
Mohd Siraj: Impressive debit. He definitely challenges UY and IS for the support seamer to JB and MS
Shubman Gill: 45 and 35*. His 45 laid the platform for Jinx and Jaddu and likes of Pant, Vihari to cash in
Jadeja: 57 runs and 3 wickets and a good catch. UY’s breakdown wasn’t much of a problem due to 5 bowler practice
Ashwin: Great bowler, needs to improve his batting though
JB ‘Boom’: He’s played important role in all Tests won in Australia last time. Continues to do so now too
