The film’s overall tone is obviously high on patriotism. Many combat scenes don’t reflect the large canvas that the film is set up on, perhaps more deserving of a big screen experience. Yet, as an industry, Bollywood has seldom churned out epic war films that have been critically and commercially acclaimed. By those standards, ‘Shershaah’ ranks high than most of the recent war dramas and tells an inspiring story that needs to be told.
The source material of this film is so strong that it is bound to grip you once the men in uniform take it upon themselves to drive out the enemy and reclaim our land. ‘Shershaah’s biggest victory is its effort to recreate one of the most important chapters of our recent history with characters, who lead the way to a rousing climax.
The boycott Bollywood, boycott K. Johar gang’s now sucking up to watch his movie despite mediocre reviews & a cardboard whose a disgrace to the memory of Vikram Batra. Only Hindi cinema’s capable of giving a war martyr a tribute that’s so much of a sham. Last year it was Gunjan Saxena this year its Shershaah, don’t be surprised if he casts Arjun Rampal as Sam Manekshaw in his next based on 1971.

Finally done with watching Scam 1992. If ever there is a swadesi online classic in the true sense, this is the one. A stellar cast led by a flawless Pratik Gandhi & co (brilliant cameo by Rajat Kapoor in there), a breezy edge of the seat screenplay and memorable dialogues with a no nonsense apolitical approach that calls a spade, a spade. After Raj & DK, Hansal Mehta’s the next Bollywood director whose proved that making elaborated content is his forte and comfort zone than making 2 hour films. Scam 92 however leaves every other Indian television show far far behind by leaps and bounds. Not only is this the best of 21st century Indian television, it wouldn’t be an understatement to call this one of India’s greatest web/TV shows ever. 10/10
Delhi Crime is very predictable and politically correct. Nothing much to watch there apart from stellar performances from the leads. Better to watch a 1 hour youtube documentary on the Nirbhaya investigation than the 8 episode series. Haven’t watched Asur.
This right here, the transition from reel to real and back to reel is the level of screenplay that elevates content to an altogether different level. The lack of political correctness only makes it better!

Pretty sure everyone would give up & leave it to god’s mercy (except the doomsayers &rogue media) if this nonsense continues till 2023. Urban parents would be pretty happy to leave their kids at the mercy of online learning (making them retards in the process) while suicide rates among rural kids would exponentially increase (and go unreported just like today). This was one of the best movie of my childhood where only thing that mattered was fight. I was small then and remember watching it in theatre. The songs used to play every where. It was an even film. With virtually newcomers as stars and coming close to Khalnayak (’93 release) black market ticket sales was unheard of.
This was possibly the biggest opening (Day 1) that the next gen Salman/SRK/Aamir/Akshay got. Akshay/Suneil were then not even in Top 10. Of course same year HAHK came but it had a different box office trajectory as the WoM took over the smaller release. But Mohra still ran for 15 weeks + across several mass centres.
Naseer was the surprise packet as we thought Gulshan grover and Raza Muraad were the main villains. The twist was outstanding.
The climax where Naseer beats the hell out of the top 2 action star of that time was unbelievable. Before the movie Tu cheez was the craze. After the release Tip Tip became more popular.
Na Kazare ki dhaar remain one of my favourite till date as a dim and wine moment song.
There used to be fights between Akshay and Suneil shetty fans. Many call it Akshay’s movie as he’s leading man and cop but then Suneil Shetty fans cliam that he has the title role as ‘Mohra’!

During independence day, there is a barrage of anti-pakistan movies and most of the paid critics will give huge ratings for anything anti-pak and call them patriotic and nationalist movie even if the movie is bad. Bhuj’s director is being such bad reviews that it’ll be tough to get 2nd movie.
On other hand, With the amount of such movies, soon future generations will think India got iwdependence from Pakistan and that’s why we celebrate Aug 15th with such movies!

Laxmii was a terrible movie, wud hv flopped it theaters. Only ott releases that missed out on box office are dil bechara, mimi and shershaah. Likes of Radhe, Laxmii, Bhuj wud have all flopped. Ott saved them from embarrassment.
Tenet wasn’t a flop anywhere except the US due to poor release timing there. Its still doing well online & trending at 7.4 on imdb, nowhere near what we call a ‘rejected’ film despite being called Nolan’s weakest (which it clearly isn’t).

Yes it is. In terms of the fact that Velu had simmering tension with a known member and same here with Ali, through his nephew … but otherwise, it is superbly and blatantly/unabashedly communal — which I loved — movie and quite, quite superior to Nayagan.

There are many faults:
1. How does 75k soldiers defeat better armed 300k Soldiers?
2. Why US didn’t apply pressure to defund Taliban in 20 years. When US attacked Afghanitan in 2001, Taliban took refuse in Pakistan.
3. If US wanted to come out they should have made sure systems worked or at least have some kind of support system if indigenous armed fighters are not capable.

Taliban was allowing Terrorists safe harbor; that was a big problem.
Now people want democracy or not is a different question. US has tried this in many places but it has to come internally. We have to thankful to our leaders at onset of independence that even in chaos we have had institutions which worked for democracy.
The point is any moment terrorists are found to take safe harbor with the Taliban again, the US can strike.
It’s hypocritical to say you are fighting for human rights against the Taliban when there is no better deal in Saudi Arabia. I can live with an Taliban ruled Afghanistan that has the same rights as Saudi and doesn’t give itself to terrorists. However, countries across the world must take as many educated refugees as possible. Shouldn’t be a problem since Afghans are not that brown or black.

Big B ‘s appreciation is not necessarily coming because of recent box office etc. It comes from his 50 years old body of work, “respect” that he still commands in the industry and his visibility on various entertainment platforms via movies, ads, TV shows, interviews etc.
Respect is the key word here. In India it is highly valued. You do not get respect easily. There are certain values that one needs to have.
There are parts of UP and Bihar where Bachchan is still the most favourite star. These people prefer watching TV reruns of Bachchan’s classics to visiting theatres. Also indicates that a film’s box office performance isn’t necessarily a true reflection of a star’s impact on the masses at large.
He also has Chehre coming up next week; a huge, huge project with Prabhas in the works, Jhund, Brahmastra (whenever it’ll release LOL), GoodBye and Mayday.
Out of these, Chehre is most likely to flop and Jhund could be a huge surprise blockbuster.

USA – Anyone in power who is known to have supported/encouraged black slavery/killings based on race, etc. Naming your dog as Django, for example.

The film’s overall tone is obviously high on patriotism. Many combat scenes don’t reflect the large canvas that the film is set up on, perhaps more deserving of a big screen experience. Yet, as an industry, Bollywood has seldom churned out epic war films that have been critically and commercially acclaimed. By those standards, ‘Shershaah’ ranks high than most of the recent war dramas and tells an inspiring story that needs to be told.
The source material of this film is so strong that it is bound to grip you once the men in uniform take it upon themselves to drive out the enemy and reclaim our land. ‘Shershaah’s biggest victory is its effort to recreate one of the most important chapters of our recent history with characters, who lead the way to a rousing climax.

The boycott Bollywood, boycott K. Johar gang’s now sucking up to watch his movie despite mediocre reviews & a cardboard whose a disgrace to the memory of Vikram Batra. Only Hindi cinema’s capable of giving a war martyr a tribute that’s so much of a sham. Last year it was Gunjan Saxena this year its Shershaah, don’t be surprised if he casts Arjun Rampal as Sam Manekshaw in his next based on 1971.

Finally done with watching Scam 1992. If ever there is a swadesi online classic in the true sense, this is the one. A stellar cast led by a flawless Pratik Gandhi & co (brilliant cameo by Rajat Kapoor in there), a breezy edge of the seat screenplay and memorable dialogues with a no nonsense apolitical approach that calls a spade, a spade. After Raj & DK, Hansal Mehta’s the next Bollywood director whose proved that making elaborated content is his forte and comfort zone than making 2 hour films. Scam 92 however leaves every other Indian television show far far behind by leaps and bounds. Not only is this the best of 21st century Indian television, it wouldn’t be an understatement to call this one of India’s greatest web/TV shows ever. 10/10

This was one of the best movie of my childhood where only thing that mattered was fight. I was small then and remember watching it in theatre. The songs used to play every where. It was an even film. With virtually newcomers as stars and coming close to Khalnayak (’93 release) black market ticket sales was unheard of.
This was possibly the biggest opening (Day 1) that the next gen Salman/SRK/Aamir/Akshay got. Akshay/Suneil were then not even in Top 10. Of course same year HAHK came but it had a different box office trajectory as the WoM took over the smaller release. But Mohra still ran for 15 weeks + across several mass centres.
Naseer was the surprise packet as we thought Gulshan grover and Raza Muraad were the main villains. The twist was outstanding.
The climax where Naseer beats the hell out of the top 2 action star of that time was unbelievable. Before the movie Tu cheez was the craze. After the release Tip Tip became more popular.
Na Kazare ki dhaar remain one of my favourite till date as a dim and wine moment song.

During independence day, there is a barrage of anti-pakistan movies and most of the paid critics will give huge ratings for anything anti-pak and call them patriotic and nationalist movie even if the movie is bad. Bhuj’s director is being such bad reviews that it’ll be tough to get 2nd movie.

Don’t know Sanjana. This OTT, while giving salary and chance to under-rated actors and some good stories, has also unleashed the inner demons in a human being: Abuses, Violence — of course thanks to the great ‘Marty’ recognized Kashyap and his ilk.
If EVER there was one mistake that Marty did in his cinematic career, it was praising a mediocre film-maker like AK..
However, I have to agree, AK has good writing skills. In fact, he has very good writing skills. How I wish he could channel them properly …

Cant see it doing anymore than 35-40 cr nett. It will flop like Tenet did.
Laxmii was a terrible movie, wud hv flopped it theaters. Only ott releases that missed out on box office are dil bechara, mimi and shershaah. Likes of Radhe, Laxmii, Bhuj wud have all flopped. Ott saved them from embarrassment.

Cant blame America. It is the destiny of multi party rule where decisions are taken by different rulers in different ways. Each regime change makes continuity not possible even to save women and kids of other countries. Ghani should have consolidated his hold on the army while he was ruling. Too much dependence on other countries in matters of defence is a sign of weakness.

Sometimes one has to look at things broadly and with many different lenses.
Ask Brits about pulling out of india after dividing the country, they’ll say it was a great success. how many years has it been? and neighbors are still fighting. Mission accomplished…
on same line, this is all business for the super power countries. they could careless about the people of whichever country they have occupied or have their bases there.
I must say in most cases, USA takes care of it’s own citizen. Not sure one can say same about most countries including india, pakistan and so on.

There are many faults:
1. How does 75k soldiers defeat better armed 300k Soldiers?
2. Why US didn’t apply pressure to defund Taliban in 20 years. When US attacked Afghanitan in 2001, Taliban took refuse in Pakistan.
3. If US wanted to come out they should have made sure systems worked or at least have some kind of support system if indigenous armed fighters are not capable.
It seems you have left people who are incapable to defend, rudderless.

It’s hypocritical to say you are fighting for human rights against the Taliban when there is no better deal in Saudi Arabia. I can live with an Taliban ruled Afghanistan that has the same rights as Saudi and doesn’t give itself to terrorists. However, countries across the world must take as many educated refugees as possible. Shouldn’t be a problem since Afghans are not that brown or black.

In July Biden says a complete overtaking of Afghanistan by the Taliban is just not possible. What changed in 30 days? How does it matter that Vietnam and US are allies now? How many lives were lost? How many tax dollars? What’s the tangible benefit?
Either way, the US has to face the issue now of Delhi-to-Daulatabad and Daulatabad-to-Delhi a la-Tughlaq. It is ‘fleeing’ back its soldiers to Afghanistan and it is laughable to say the least.
Forget me, even CNN and its ilk are questioning Biden! When CNN and Wa Po get pissed, Biden better beware! This will be a big wake-up call for Biden. How he handles the ‘eastern’ part of the world, who are his enemies, and who are his friends.
And for the so-called statement that America takes care of its citizens: Yes it does, we have seen that with African-Americans. Also, that ‘taking care’ comes at the cost of murder and loot of civilizations across the world…

The reference to corpses and India’s 2nd wave is not a true representation of government.
It is a cultural issue where society due to rumours were not allowing cremation of bodies departing due to virus.
Cremation grounds for Muslims, Hindus, Christians etc had huge resistance from locals living nearby who claimed that the virus may enter their home via soild, air etc.
Hence even those who can afford cremation did so in the river.
So have an understanding.
Also, the 2nd wave was like a cloud burst even. With thousands lining up at hospital, it was not possible for any government to be prepared for the tragedy.
The overnight cases shot by 20 times at places which were already working at 80% capacity.
I think we undermine our work in failures.
There are heroes even when wars are lost. Here the war is with an invisible unknown.

Bengal elections etc were mistakes. Government made the mistake for being complacent. Not starting vaccination at war foot level was a mistake aided by callous opposition raising questions on credibility of vaccines akd spread of rumours among Muslims that this BJP vaccine will make them infertile (As if Jannat ki hoprnis ready for the mankind).
However no expert were able to tell when and in what capacity covid 2 was coming.
Consider these elections etc were not there in 7 phases. Would it have made covid 2 less painful ?

Countries, especially Western, seem to be retreating and lusting to look after oneself now. Look across Europe with Brexit and you have Scandinavian Countries looking to ditch EU. Then you got EU leaders posting Olympic tables with EU on top! Some self reflection is needed by West as powers in East grow.
West is full of people from everywhere so opinions vary and clash more, call it lack of unity and genuine love for country one lives in.
If you are born in Japan, India or China you’re surrounded by like minded, like looking people. A lot of familiarity. In West it’s a khichdi. Some people like khichdi, some don’t. I don’t like khichdi but I like Western society but adore Eastern too.

Bengal elections etc were mistakes. Government made the mistake for being complacent. Not starting vaccination at war foot level was a mistake aided by callous opposition raising questions on credibility of vaccines akd spread of rumours among Muslims that this BJP vaccine will make them infertile (As if Jannat ki hoors are ready on planet earth for the mankind wearing skull cap).
However no expert were able to tell when and in what capacity covid 2 was coming.
Consider these elections etc were not there in 7 phases. Would it have made covid 2 less painful ?
No. Not at all.
Can we prepare for Covid 3 if it were to be twice as forceful as covid 2?
No, we cannot. Noone can.
We need to understand failures due to man made corruption and failures due to extraordinary natural calamity.

Firstly, 500 million is not the figure. The total number of people given at least one dose are some 420 million and those fully vaccinated are 120 million. If they’re coming at 500 million+ by adding both or the figures on google are wrong, then thank God the international media didn’t cover this and make Indians seem to have their math talent also in the thrall of Modi.

I am surprised, is all..with nothing in his hands. In GULABO he was appreciated for sure but I don’t think it made any profits…by OTT financial standards I mean. His last hit was BADLA and the one people will remember a lot was way back in 2016 for PIKU.
So apart from KBC and the barrage of ads, he really doesn’t have anything…that’s why I am surprised that he can top some poll! Out of sight, out of mind doesn’t seem to apply to him…
BTW, no news on JHUND. Big B ‘s appreciation is not necessarily coming because of recent box office etc. It comes from his 50 years old body of work, “respect” that he still commands in the industry and his visibility on various entertainment platforms via movies, ads, TV shows, interviews etc.
Respect is the key word here. In India it is highly valued. You do not get respect easily. There are certain values that one needs to have.

There are parts of UP and Bihar where Bachchan is still the most favourite star. These people prefer watching TV reruns of Bachchan’s classics to visiting theatres. Also indicates that a film’s box office performance isn’t necessarily a true reflection of a star’s impact on the masses at large.

Anyone who has done the following would not be an obvious choice for naming a child –
USA – Anyone in power who is known to have supported/encouraged black slavery/killings based on race, etc. Naming your dog as Django, for example.
Israel – Anyone in power who has supported / encouraged Nazis
South Africa – Any one in power who has supported / encouraged racial abuse
Same way in india who who have done atrocities on religious lines is not the name you would want to have for your child. Again this is totally parent’s choice. But u do keep local sentiments right?
In Israel, you won’t name your child Hitler, isn’t it?

I thought Kareena’s 2nd kid’s name is only ‘Jeh Ali Khan’. Not sure if the reports for Jeh being short form for Jehangir is true or not, haven’t seen the confirmation. Either ways, not going into of history of the kings – how can the name of Hindi movies eternal love story of Mughal-E-Azam leading hero is a bad thing? Salim-Anarkali or Jehangir-Anarkali is a great folklore 🙂

Indian catholics have overcome this name problem by naming their kids Vikram, Shyamala, Pavitra, Suguna, Sunanda, Pratap, Raj, Anand, Vijay etc. Remember Amritraj brothers? Ashok, Vijay and Anand?

For that matter every film’s success is a sort of lottery. Every weekend used to be a draw to decide the fate of a film. Kjo helped Alia, Varun Dhawan, Jahnavi K. Only Alia was able to sustain her success working with big directors.
Now it is Sidharth’s turn.
If a Salman Khan can become a mega star with little acting skills, I dont have a problem with others who get some success.
