So PVR will be doing live screening the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 scheduled from October 17 and the final will be played on November 14. To be screened in 35 Leading Cities All Over India! @_PVRCinemas#ICCT20WorldCup2021
India pretty comfortably messed up England and Aussies in the warm-up: Let’s wait for the emotionally-charged match versus Pak…
On another note, I never watch IPL but watched this guy – https://www.espncricinfo.com/player/ruturaj-gaikwad-1060380 – and found him technically proficient with the bat; i.e. has the capacity and cerebellum to play test and one-days. [I don’t know if he has already played; Yodha please educate me…}
Wishing the Indian team all the best….will be one cracker of a T20…as always, since I have been a bad luck persona for Team India, I don’t think I will be watching this one….
I had always said never to take Pak lightly in a T20 series. They have terrific ammunition. They are hardly good in 1-days and test matches. Looks like India is facing a record-breaking moment of never succumbed to Pakistan here…
I was worried whether I was calling it too early, but my gut feeling was right. Terrible selections like Pandya and test bowlers have pulled the team down.
Totally a depressing Sunday. But full marks to Pakistan and congrats to the team for an astounding win. They were clinical and ruthless and India was defensive from the word go. I can understand that it was India under pressure and never Pakistan but still, this will be an embarrassing defeat from India; considering that this is a wicket-less win for Pakistan.
It seems Kohli lost his cool — if he ever had one — when asked by a reporter as to why Rohit was in the team. And he answered, as per his nature, : What do you expect me to do? Do you want me to replace Sharma?”
Why wasn’t Ishan played today replacing Sharma? If anything Kohli should have learnt from Dhoni, it is risk-taking. Dhoni was ready to show the door to Tendulkar and Dravid!!!
I feel that Kohli — thanks to the drunkard Shastri — is getting into a shell; where, no, matter what the circumstances of the game demand, he would run down to Rohit and his yes-men…He is not ready to take bold chances…
Its is a fighting loss for India. They did try after the initial setback to post a decent total.
However it was not enough more so due to due and sensible and once in a life time batting by Pakistani openers. They are playing for their pride after the drubbing they received when teams left them dry.
Yeah…who knows?
I am looking at a hopeful situation here. Jayshah knows that i am the eternal optimistic and he is jealous of me for this.
My hope is,
India does have a knack to start a series with a loss, and then from the kickback received after that loss regroup and perform. So am hoping for a strong comeback in the next important game against NZL.
Good to see these pictures and moments coming out. Both MS Dhoni and @imVkohli maintained grace even in face of defeat. Also, Pakistani players should be appreciated for interacting with one of the best cricketing brains even after winning and not being cocky about it. pic.twitter.com/6ovBB7bQID
When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11 is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have.
Very graceful. It is quite uncanny and whether you believe it or not, I had the same discussion with a playing cricketer last night…when Rohit went to Babar and started the talk of kneeling, I immediately knew there is a high, higher chance that India will succumb. It seemed like the news, social media, took a lot of hits on the team. Of course, we can say sitting on our arm-rests, oh they are professionals, they can take any pressure, they have therapists etc., etc.,but then….
These are all pro player making lots of money and are best of best. Yes, we can debate on this player should have been taken, this one should have been dropped, etc. but at the end of the day, all of these players are pro and good enough that’s why they’re in team India.
Putting up 150 is not a bad total. It was decent.
I don’t have issue with us losing, it’s just getting to me that at least one wicket was not taken.
Not sure why Shami is getting trolled, it’s not like india lost in that one last over by shami. The result was pretty clear even before shami last over started.
Gambling industry probably made a fortune on this one game. Bets are not just on win/loss, there’s how many runs will be score by each team, by each player, wickets, etc… They made money on just about every parlor.
Yeh kya uttappa hai boss? In the middle of the tournament? Our great Dhoni announced retirement in the 4th test in England. This fellow is kneeling in the midst of a match. Rohit is more concentrated on kneeling than in fighting. The nuts in India wanted the India-Pak match to be canceled. In the words of the great Tiku Talsaniya: ‘ Arre yeh kya ho raha hai bhai?’
‘In the heat of the moment, I said something’: Waqar apologises for his ‘namaz’ remark
I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake: Waqar Younis
We’re human, I’ve said things to my wife in the heat of the moment which i feel very bad about a day later.
As an analyst by profession, i try to analyze it later what trigerred my response, what i can do differently next time and so on.
But then there are times in life where you just lose control over yourself and things comes out of your mouth.
When you’re in public eye, you have to be even more cautious on what you say.
Agree. People will not forget certain things. There are too many examples. Like saying sorry for Jallianwalabagh incident, sikh riots and other riots etc. A simple sorry will not erase history. But not saying sorry is also wrong. It shows that there is no repentance. And not to repeat the mistake is also very important to show real regret. That is why they say to be careful with words.
@Sanjana we all know very well how the Pakistani team works. So far, as I said, I only saw SA talk gracefully. And I support him when he says some idiot Indian commentator asked who are these Rizwan and Babar? “Abhi samajh mein aaya, yeh kaun hai?” I will completely support him for that: If an Indian cricket commentator can say such third-rate stuff, what can you say? SA was completely right in pulling him in up.
And I would NOT support WY statement when he referred to religious BS as something he would regret in the past and compare it with a husband-wife heated argument. He has years, years of experience in cricket. He KNOWS that India/Pak cricket is charged. I will NOT forgive him. If a zealot like Inzamam makes that statement — who tortured the only Christian in the Pak team, Yousuf Youhana, to come and offer namaz – before start of a play, I can understand. But never, ever players like Akram, Akhtar, Abbas and many more who are such terrific cricketers loved by Indians.
And for those who are trolling Shami, they are IMPOTENT folks who have nothing to do better in their life than sit idle and get a so-called-life in the disgusting social media.
Great comment at Shivaay. After all, the very founding reason of the nation is quite well known…
Who exactly is SA? Definitely not that clown Shahid Afridi (with more ducks than Courtney Walsh I guess) or that charsi Shoaib Akhtar whose taken more needles than Rakhi Sawant’s botox.
Am talking about Shoaib Akthar (SA) only in terms of the rare mature statement he made on this T20 regarding media pressure et.al; …Afridi, Jagdeep is a far better comedian than him….
I had another question about T20. I know debates and discussions have been around that by being exposed to international players, their fitness regimes and tactis, Indians have learnt. But then, how would you explain Azhar’s terrific fielding, Sachin’s total devotion to fielding [find me more than 5 instances where he has misfielded or dropped catches], and of course, the cheetah Jonty Rhodes and to an extent, the oft-forgotten Robin Sharma. How did they give importance to fielding and fitness? Or are they mere exceptions?
Robin Singh? original finisher for sometime in ODIs?
Fielding in Azhar and Sachin days was more within certain body reach. In new era, that reach has increased. Catching sometime in new era is atrocious especially at night with dropped catches. Now almost everyone dives and stop boundaries, I don’t think I had seen that in old era except some Australians and then Srilankan mimicked them.
If you are talking of people jumping over the shoulder-boundary passing over catches like Cotterel, yes, that’s a different athletic standard. But still, my point is we had it in us. Why were Prabhkar or Manjarekar or anybody weren’t as good as Azhar or Sachin?
Robin Singh was better than many as he was born and brought up in west indies and then moved to India around the age of 20. So, all his cricket training and coaching was done overseas. Indian fielders were not diving during 80’s as the grounds were not good enough and they can seriously injure themselves. That slowly changed in 90’s and later. Robin Singh was good but it was for another reason and he even played like international player.
“Sedition case will be filed against anyone who celebrates Pakistan winning: Yogi Adityanath ji Maharaj” says a release from Chief Ministers office pic.twitter.com/Q28EGlu3Wg
I actually agree with this law. no reason for anyone to celebrate pakistan victory in india, however, coming from yogi, he is a raciest bigot so you know where this is coming from and the motives behind it…
It is game but more importantly, it’s not about the law. It is the misuse of law and they can arrest anyone saying we saw some crackers near your house!
But agree something should be done to see if there are such celebrations and to restrict them.
Have lived in Kanpur for four years and there were celebrations with Pakistan victory. There is no real issue but the reason for celebration were obviously religious affinity than good play. I think that is morally wrong. Having said that it is a two way street. Majority community shouldn’t ask for allegiance for every instance because someone belongs to a particular community. But with some much polarization everywhere people are asked to do stuff which causes more division.
Munna; I am from Bombay and have lived in Bangalore and in Rajinder Nagar in Delhi and in Kolhapur and many, many other cities and have seen the celebrations when Pak won and the religious war-cries called out. The celebrations, are, TOTALLY RELIGIOUS and as that ass-hole mentioned, ‘KUFR TOOT GAYA.’ Live with that, and deal with it.
I don’t think there is any solution; except education and economic prosperity. In future, I think more people are going to be atheist than follow any religion.
IF THIS IS TRUE, totally agree on the misuse of law. But folks celebrating the Pak victory to incite riots and there are such uneducated filth so many of such kind in India, they NEED to be put behind bars. PERIOD. Like in JNU and the state of J&K.
A lesson for Indians, DON’T fall to the level of idiots like Waqar and a smart-person turned idiot like SA, be greater than them. Always remember the foundational reasons of this country versus the other nation.
Pakistan played terrific cricket, they won fair and square. Indians lost. Put an end to this idiotic debate.
selection issues. why Hardik Pandya getting selected when not fit to bowl. Venkat Iyer would have been such an asset given the fragile batting line up. Would have played Kallis kind of role giving stability at the top.
Kohli’s conversion to vegeterianism or veganism is impacting his game.
India played IPL in these conditions. Ditched a test match for IPL to prepare for WC. Good riddance I say. The defeat to Pakistan will hurt most but seriously for a team that has played here in these conditions more than the rest the 2 defeats are embarrassing – margin of defeat quite shocking.
BCCI should have never kept IPL close to ICC tournament. All those shots goes for six in IPL and here they got caught on the boundary due to ground size? Kohli and Rohit were in terrible form before the tournament so this is not so shocking. And even Rahul’s form is gone at the main time. Other batsmen are mostly sloggers. From yadav to pant to Pandya to Ishan. IPL caliber players and flat pitch bullies. Do not keep selecting based on IPL performance where the ground is smaller and even international bowlers do not put so much effort like they do when they play for their country. BCCI screwed up for the money and this is one of the most embarrassing tournament for India.
Tournament is over for India now. Remaining matches won’t do anything as they are out. May be another embarrassment they can get when they lose even against Afghan. Absolutely shameful and disgusting performance. Shame on you BCCI and Kohli.
They are just tired and not motivated. Kohli is like..I already told this is my last and Rohit is like..this is Kohli’s world cup and not mine. Not fair to say but I don’t see intent to even win the match. Kohli grinning images with opponents is like salt on wounds! He’s getting bashed the most.
But given the disaster performance, somebody has to be held accountable Shastri, Kohli, Dhoni, Chetan Sharma etc. why was Venky Iyer floen back so a complacent Hardik could relax without another all rounder breathing down his neck? Whoever took the decision to fly back Venky must be fired
If Kiwis lose to afghanistan, than india has a chance based on RR.
India was put in good Group 2 where you have nimibia, scotland, afghanistan, pakistan (which many thought isn’t any good) and NZ. So it was slotted where India should have walked into semis. Now they need luck where NZ has to lose.
I thought I saw her in the stands yesterday sitting beside Rohit’s wife I think; didn’t know they were banging officially.
On another note, Aussies comfortably thrash WI. ENG/SA; let’s see.
It SHOULD be Pak in the finals and most likely walking away with the cup. About match-fixing as Sanjana mentioned, that won’t happen; NZ is not some minnow that will succumb to match-fixing.
New Zealand Beat Afghanistan To Reach Semifinals; India Out Of Last Four Race
Better to be out of race than bear the brunt of snide remarks.
Reputation is saved.
Manika-Archana win their maiden women’s doubles title in Slovenia
The world number 36 pairing beat the 23rd-ranked combine of Melanie Diaz and Adriana Diaz from Puerto Rico 11-3, 11-8, 12-10.
Djokovic beats Medvedev for record 37th Masters title
Djokovic moved one clear of fellow 20-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal for Masters trophies, and nine ahead of Roger Federer, the other tennis great with 20 majors.
When Ian Bishop asked on Star Sports about the takeaways from the poor campaign during which India lost to Pakistan and New Zealand, Shastri replied: “All I can think first of is rest.”
“I am mentally drained, but I expect that at my age but these guys are physically and mentally drained. Six months in a bubble… What we would have ideally liked was a bigger gap between the IPL and the T20 World Cup…(because) when the big games come, when pressure hits you, you are not that switched on as you should be.”
The 59-year-old has said that Team India’s poor outing in the 2021 T20 World Cup is partly due to the exhaustion due to an extended bio-secure bubble.
“I won’t give excuse, but we are living in the bio-secure bubble for the past six months. We would have ideally liked a bigger gap between the IPL and the World Cup. These are all human beings, they don’t run on petrol!” Shastri said on Star Sports before India’s last Super 12 match against Namibia which they won by 9 wickets.
The Indian players had their first taste of life in a bio-bubble before the IPL last year.
IPL 2020, which was originally scheduled to be held in April-May, was postponed to September-November and was shifted to the UAE.
Since then, Indian players have mostly been on the road enduring the rigours of a bio-bubble, which has seen them getting virtually cut-off from the outside world and at times their own families.
T20 is not a game for the veterans. Someone needs to remind the current selectors that the team that won in 2007 was full of under 27s (except the 29 year old Sehwag) and the likes of Sachin, Sourav and Dravid were dropped for this specific purpose. T20 must be treated as a testing ground for upcoming talent who can play fearless cricket without much expectation (just what T20 demands). Making a 34 year old Rohit Sharma the captain is a farce. Sharma needs to take over the ODI format till the 2023 world cup and allow the under 25s to form the T20 core base.
CORRECTION | Name of the man arrested for giving online rape threats to daughter of an Indian cricketer is Ramnagesh Srinivas Akubathini and not Ramnagesh Alibathini as tweeted earlier.
This creep was an IIT graduate with good pay, there’s this cognitive sickness that’s driving people. I hope more people are arrested, so that online anonymity doesn’t give free pass to all sorts of disgusting thoughts.
You need variations in fast balling or this is going to be chased down…
Starc bowled poor; he should have seen what Cummins was doing for Fakhar..outside his reach wide into the pitch balls..Trying full speed Yorker will lead to slots. They were not even wide Yorkers. I think Pakistan scored 15-20 runs more in big boundary stadium.
Think for world cricket it would be good if NZ or Pakistan win this. The big 3 have too much power.
1) It was wrong of India to abandon the last test in England. They got what they deserved here
2) England should have gone to Pakistan for their series. They are out too.
3) The stuff happening at Yorkshire cricket club is awful
4) Australia for years of arrogance deserve any loss coming
A little bit of a victory for the minnows would be good and a good middle finger to the Big 3.
Shami is a classic test bowler. He’s not even cut out for ODIs, forget T20s. T20 is an ideal platform to try IPL noobs like Chahar & Harshal Patel and prepare them for international cricket. T20 is sasti sharaab where you play with young rowdies who have no shame or fear of losing. Its not a Jack Daniels for the likes of Kohli, Sharma or Shami. Exactly why India won in 2007 in the absence of Sachin, Sourav, Rahul, Zaheer & Kumble.
What a twisty match!! Hats off to the Pak team though … They played incredibly well and are a force to reckon with as I mentioned even before the start of the series in the T20 format … All the best for future tournaments…
The Toss Jeeto Match Jeeto tournament made many weaker teams looks better and several stronger team look mediocre. Such tournaments should not happen on these manhoos venues. #DueFactor #ICCT20WC

Ashes: Both Australia and England are going through a rough patch that would have their board worried. With Australia, it is the sexting controversy of Tim Paine after Sandpaper gate. Who will be their next skipper? and next wicketkeeper? For England, Racism is a big concern they need to address soon. Plus health of key ashes players as well
Good 105 by Iyer. If we stuck to Shivaay’s strategy of giving a long rope to the oldies, we would never unearth fresh talent. Albeit, there were many rested and a few injuries. What happens when Kohli is back? I hope they don’t drop Iyer now to make way for Kohli.
Non Performing Indians from Ksnpur Test
1. Ishant Useless Sharma Zero wickets and zero runs. Passenger all the way. If India has 4just gone with 10 players, they would have won. Compare his performance to Southee’s or Jamieson
2. Mayank Agrawal: Failed as opener on both occasions
3. Rahane failed as captain and batsman
4. Pujara more was expected from his experience
5. Shubman Gill Apart from 50 in the first innings, need to convert small scores into big Daddy hundreds
6. Umesh Yadav one wicket in each innings crucial breakthroughs like Kane Williamson and the stubborn night watchman in the 2nd. plus scored a few runs with the bat in 1st innings
New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel scripted history on December 4 after dismissing all 10 Indian batters in an innings on Day 2 of the second India vs New Zealand Test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, becoming only the third cricketer to achieve the feat in Test cricket history.
Every country has different conditions. SO one test doesn’t make sense. NZ and England have similar conditions; Australia and SA have bouncy wickets. India/Lanka/Pakistan assist spin. I think best of three in different location or lottery way of selecting location should be chosen.
Tosses and conditions should also be factored in the WTC. Bangladesh will beat even the champion Test team in their own backyard if they win the toss. Bat first on a crumbling wicket and let their spinners do the job in the 4th innings is their template.
Starc is overrated imho. That wasn’t a any special delivery. It’s just Burns missing out a leg side half volley. Hazelwood and Cummins are Australia’s gun bowlers.
Nathan Lyon continues to wait for his 400th wicket. Ashwin was at 365 and Lyon at 391 at the start of India tour of Australia. Now Ashwin has 427 and Lyon still stuck on 399 for a long time (almost a year)
“The biggest problem with Virat has always been trust issues. He speaks about clear communication but where he had lost respect as a leader is lack of communication,” a player, who had been a part of the Indian dressing room a couple of years ago…
While former head coach Ravi Shastri, in recent interviews, has advised that Kohli would do better concentrating on his batting, but did he forget to question him during his tenure? Perhaps no because no one wants to rock the boat.
They should fast track Venkatesh Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad for the Test team. Their consistency and form is remarkable. Send back passengers like Ishant Sharma and others
Emma Raducanu positive for Covid; US Open champ out of exhibition
Organizers of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship announced Raducanu’s withdrawal, saying the British teenager is isolating and following protocols.
Kohli, who skipped training session in Mumbai on Monday (December 14), has informed the board that he will not be available for ODI series as he intends to celebrate his daughter Vamika’s first birthday with wife Anushka Sharma. Vamika will celebrate her first birthday on January 11, when Kohli will be playing the third Test in Cape Town against South Africa.
“Virat was obviously informed. But he hasn’t joined the camp. We expect him to join tomorrow. The players will enter a three-day bio-bubble before traveling to Johannesburg,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport website on Sunday (December 12).
Officials claim Kohli was informed about it, but he chose not to turn up. The BCCI official also informed InsideSport that several calls were made, but he did not receive them. https://zeenews.india.com/cricket/india-vs-south-africa-2021-22-is-virat-kohli-upset-at-losing-captaincy-former-skipper-out-of-odi-series-say-reports-2419111.html
Staring a 5-0 whitewash, ECB can pull out of the tour citing safety concerns. But they are likely to stay back and complete the tour unlike BCCI which failed miserably to complete the England tour

I had always said never to take Pak lightly in a T20 series. They have terrific ammunition. They are hardly good in 1-days and test matches. Looks like India is facing a record-breaking moment of never succumbed to Pakistan here…

Rohit is more concentrated on kneeling than in fighting. The nuts in India wanted the India-Pak match to be canceled. In the words of the great Tiku Talsaniya: ‘ Arre yeh kya ho raha hai bhai?’

Yes Robin Singh sorry.

A flop tournament because of the venue where Toss plays the most important role than skills.
Win the toss, win the match.
Its hardly superb…its predictable and unfair.
In Semis, both the teams which lost, if not for the toss were better teams.
It should have been Eng Vs Pak in the finals.
But hold on….had India won the toss in their first 2 matches….who know then?

Tosses and conditions should also be factored in the WTC. Bangladesh will beat even the champion Test team in their own backyard if they win the toss. Bat first on a crumbling wicket and let their spinners do the job in the 4th innings is their template.
