Also, when one says weekend, it should be Friday/Saturday/Sunday (not extended weekend which could be 4 days for movie like Jawan or 5 days for movie like Pathaan).
You can call HAHK flop if it was made or sold at 200 crore. Or if a movie is made at 100 crore and sold for 20 crore and does business of 100 crore; it probably will blockbuster in trade.
Trending has to do with WOM.
If two movies do same/similar business (Rocketry could be compared to Cirkus, Heropanti 2); say One in 2 weeks and another in 10 weeks. 10 weeks has better WOM. Hit and flop have relation with money involved (budget, sold price).
Interestingly Tuesday advance is just 2.22 cr and Monday was 3.5cr. and Tuesday is the real holiday as Maharashtra is involved. Doesn’t make much sense that
Unless it’s a holiday where people don’t have time for movies or avoid going out. Either ways, it’s touching 500 crs today, which is Day 13 for all India collections.

Recently elementals a Pixar production trended very well but is not considered as a success due to its budget. Infact there were some more in Hollywood this year itself. Ultimately if your trending starting point is too low vis-a-vis the budget it’s not a success no?
If jawan opened at 20cr and trended very well to get 249cr it would not be a hit. As it needed 250cr for breakeven. Even brahmastra trended well but was not a clear hit as per budget..should be many such example

1) there will be a lower amount of films in history that ‘trended very well’ AND flopped than
2) films that grossed huge AND flopped
The debacle disaster is much more of a frequent occurrence than a trending flop. I obviously understand the bar is lower for 1) and higher for 2) but then that is actually not my concern as an audience.
When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else.
Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it..:)

BOI gives worldwide of every film in HINDI version only.. the original format.. that’s the only good aspect of the site.. even bomojo does not give worldwide English only numbers the way BOI does for original format.. that’s why Pathan is 1009 Cr and not 1050 on boi as reported elsewhere.
800 Crs is Hindi only WW. Including original Telugu & Tamil formats its an 1800 Cr gross, the only movie to achieve such numbers without China assistance.
Baahubali 2 all languages is 1800 crore+. Is that correct? if yes, wouldn’t that be the highest collection for any Indian movie? Only a pan-India movie will be able to break that sort of record.

RRR is around 1200cr and Pathaan with a couple of more releases in few countries has genuine chance of going past RRR

This is better than doing a 2 hero movie with Salman. This has super pan India potential and he expands his reach into Telugu also. Pretty sure a smart script can be made with these two. There is also freshness in this pairing. Imagine Vijay and SRK in a dance song, that would be something. A 2 hero movie with Allu also would be great. If you are wanting to do a 2 hero movie atleast do something which increases your reach and potential.

A movie made on 400 Cr and grossing barely 425 Cr globally (all versions) is a colossal Flop. At this price it needed at least ₹ 600 Cr worldwide to have any chance of Average success.
More of a tribute than an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel. That seamlessly blends in elements of horror and fantasy. Despite the slow paced and partly lethargic screenplay, easily the best of Kenneth Branagh’s Poirot films and a far superior upgrade from the lackluster Orient Express and Death on the Nile. This will hurt the film more than it will benefit it.. 75 rupees on a Saturday instead of the high rates on weekend, especially when there is still a lot if steam left in it (its still earning in double digits everyday) will not be good

But on its 3rd saturday jawan is already targeting around 15cr, with a ticket rate at 75rps it will be very difficult to do that

It shouldn’t happen at all. It’s a completely rubbish promotion. The theatre cost also won’t get covered in 75rs. I can understand 150 200 types scheme but 75 doesn’t help any movie. Whats worse is the drop next day and the whole of the week is big. This was seen in brahmastra also. The week after this one is a 5 day weekend just keep normal rates till mid oct…
TN has 63 stall and 190 balcony rates and I really feel bad about those theatre owners. Atleast they have 190..here blanket 75 is just a loss for everyone
Jawan has a golden chance to do 575cr and 650cr all language. Participating in such schemes for short term benefit will just cut the golden goose. And they wil fall short of 540 too
That was to get audiences back from post-covid. I don’t think it’s needed now. The audiences are coming back anyways. Gadar2 and Jawan in back to back months. It’s totally pointless now. Agree.
Hindi alone will be less than 10cr today, drop is around 30%
Overall i think its same numbers of Day of consecutive double digit days for jawan and gadar
So, by the end of Week 2, Jawan will be 478-480 crs official and 465 crs in BOI with a huge 120 cr week 2 collections. Week 3 will be around 60 crs and just in 3 weeks, it’ll cross Pathaan’s record of 513 in BOI and 524 official number.
Afte that, it’s just additional and as I mentioned it’s looking at 560-570+ crs official collection overall lifetime or even more. I expect it to touch 550 crs in BOI as well.
Finally, SRK has proved what he has to with both Pathaan and Jawan. Now for next 4 outings, there is no pressure on SRK. In all the next 4 outings, if movies do well, SRK will get benefit and praise and for some reason, it doesn’t work well as expected, SRK will not be blamed directly.
1) Tiger 3
2) Dunki
3) Suhana’s movie
4) Tiger vs Pathaan
For Dunki, the onus now rests on Raju Hirani and for TvP, it’s again both Adi Chopra and Salman Khan as well. For Tiger3, Suhana’s movies – it will get great reviews for SRK’s cameos whatever the movies collect.
So, SRK fans can chill for next 2 to 2.5 years and just see the fun. Many records will be broken and many movies will touch 500 crs and break Pathaan and Jawan in India collection which all will be broken by TvP in 2025. Now, the wait is what SRK will sign after that movie for 2026 release.
Folks can say anything about festive releases, holidays and all that but Jawan breaking Pathaan’s total and highest grosser in 3 weeks flat without any national holiday is fantastic. Even before Salaar would have released. So, if you have 3 weeks gap and some national holidays, movies can do even 600 crs Nett in 3 weeks and 700 crs overall.
I’m more interested in Dunki. The truest test of how big the market is could be Dunki judging by Hirani’s track record. No greater moment for him to catch SRK than now. Pressure is on Hirani to deliver now. You could see something truly stupendous like a 200Cr 2nd week.
I guess so but to get 200Cr you can average 29Cr over 7 days. I think Hirani movie can land on 2nd Friday above 25Cr and target 3 day 100Cr+. If you get a holiday too it will be possible.
IMO both Pathaan and Jawan have left something back on weekdays of 1st week. Hirani movie might not open as big but that 2nd week I would bet will be bigger than Pathaan and Jawan IF movie is like previous Hirani movies.
Yes dunki has a chance to do 200 cr second week but it will be difficult, if 1st january was on tuesday instead of monday Then it would have been easier
Second friday will be more than 20cr ( keeping in mind RH track record)
More than second week, dunki first 11 days should be recording breaking by big big margin
It depends when it is done. Brahmastra requested it to change from Sep 16 to Sep 23 last time as it was just 2nd friday. It was a FRIDAY. For this year, there has been no talk and folks are assuming it’s Sep 23 based on last year’s date. I don’t think they would do it over weekend for India, it ‘ll be next friday if possible.
This is ok…as i said above dont try any tricks till mid oct. Mid oct is good…with WC on this is a good thing to do. Oct 15collection loss can be compensated a bit

Animal not doing well will be surprise. It’s just 2nd movie of Sandeep Reddy Vanga who gave blockbuster twice in Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. So, obviously expectations are huge and it’ll be great. He’s not a generic film maker and been dreaming to make true cool gangster saga in Bollywood.

Baahubali worldwide is including all languages. They are counting Hindi and then worldwide. Overseas, it is not released just in Hindi like Pathaan.

Pathaan released only in Hindi outside India. That 41 crs gross difference could be just Tamil/Telugu collections in India.
I checked worldwide for gross and BB2 is like 700 crs gross for Hindi and 100 crs for World collections making it 800 crs.

Budget : 4,00,00,00,000
India Gross: 2,87,65,00,000
Overseas Gross: $14,170,000
Worldwide Gross: 4,00,65,57,500
A movie made on 400 Cr and grossing barely 425 Cr globally (all versions) is a colossal Flop. At this price it needed at least ₹ 600 Cr worldwide to have any chance of Average success.

More of a tribute than an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel. That seamlessly blends in elements of horror and fantasy. Despite the slow paced and partly lethargic screenplay, easily the best of Kenneth Branagh’s Poirot films and a far superior upgrade from the lackluster Orient Express and Death on the Nile. A good solid 7/10.

This will hurt the film more than it will benefit it.. 75 rupees on a Saturday instead of the high rates on weekend, especially when there is still a lot if steam left in it (its still earning in double digits everyday) will not be good

On a weekday it would have been OK
But on its 3rd saturday jawan is already targeting around 15cr, with a ticket rate at 75rps it will be very difficult to do that

It shouldn’t happen at all. It’s a completely rubbish promotion. The theatre cost also won’t get covered in 75rs. I can understand 150 200 types scheme but 75 doesn’t help any movie. Whats worse is the drop next day and the whole of the week is big. This was seen in brahmastra also. The week after this one is a 5 day weekend just keep normal rates till mid oct…
TN has 63 stall and 190 balcony rates and I really feel bad about those theatre owners. Atleast they have 190..here blanket 75 is just a loss for everyone

Jawan has a golden chance to do 575cr and 650cr all language. Participating in such schemes for short term benefit will just cut the golden goose. And they wil fall short of 540 too

So, by the end of Week 2, Jawan will be 478-480 crs official and 465 crs in BOI with a huge 120 cr week 2 collections. Week 3 will be around 60 crs and just in 3 weeks, it’ll cross Pathaan’s record of 513 in BOI and 524 official number.
Afte that, it’s just additional and as I mentioned it’s looking at 560-570+ crs official collection overall lifetime or even more. I expect it to touch 550 crs in BOI as well.
Finally, SRK has proved what he has to with both Pathaan and Jawan. Now for next 4 outings, there is no pressure on SRK. In all the next 4 outings, if movies do well, SRK will get benefit and praise and for some reason, it doesn’t work well as expected, SRK will not be blamed directly.
1) Tiger 3
2) Dunki
3) Suhana’s movie
4) Tiger vs Pathaan
For Dunki, the onus now rests on Raju Hirani and for TvP, it’s again both Adi Chopra and Salman Khan as well. For Tiger3, Suhana’s movies – it will get great reviews for SRK’s cameos whatever the movies collect.
So, SRK fans can chill for next 2 to 2.5 years and just see the fun. Many records will be broken and many movies will touch 500 crs and break Pathaan and Jawan in India collection which all will be broken by TvP in 2025. Now, the wait is what SRK will sign after that movie for 2026 release.

Folks can say anything about festive releases, holidays and all that but Jawan breaking Pathaan’s total and highest grosser in 3 weeks flat without any national holiday is fantastic. Even before Salaar would have released. So, if you have 3 weeks gap and some national holidays, movies can do even 600 crs Nett in 3 weeks and 700 crs overall.

I’m more interested in Dunki. The truest test of how big the market is could be Dunki judging by Hirani’s track record. No greater moment for him to catch SRK than now. Pressure is on Hirani to deliver now. You could see something truly stupendous like a 200Cr 2nd week.

I guess so but to get 200Cr you can average 29Cr over 7 days. I think Hirani movie can land on 2nd Friday above 25Cr and target 3 day 100Cr+. If you get a holiday too it will be possible.
IMO both Pathaan and Jawan have left something back on weekdays of 1st week. Hirani movie might not open as big but that 2nd week I would bet will be bigger than Pathaan and Jawan IF movie is like previous Hirani movies.

Yes dunki has a chance to do 200 cr second week but it will be difficult, if 1st january was on tuesday instead of monday Then it would have been easier
Second friday will be more than 20cr ( keeping in mind RH track record)
More than second week, dunki first 11 days should be recording breaking by big big margin

It depends when it is done. Brahmastra requested it to change from Sep 16 to Sep 23 last time as it was just 2nd friday. It was a FRIDAY. For this year, there has been no talk and folks are assuming it’s Sep 23 based on last year’s date. I don’t think they would do it over weekend for India, it ‘ll be next friday if possible.

Gadar2 was 37 Cr and Pathaan was 30 Cr.
If Jawan does 30 Cr, it’ll be great.
If it gets to Gadar 2 3rd weekend number then that will be amazing.
There’s a new Yasjraj film but I don’t think it will have any impact on Jawan.

As audience taste has changed for the better now with Gadar 2 being a progressive film, this time is best for the release of forgotten classics that will do well in today’s time.
