  3. It would have remained a crap film, anyway. This folm defied the limits of boredom.

Imitiaz’s best film remains his debut film, Socha Na Tha, and every film of his after that have been backwards steps.

  4. What do you think of the trailer of Chandu Champion?

    – It’s an impressive trailer. Since the story is uplifting and inspirational, it will resonate well with the audience. The producers should keep the tempo of the promotion going till the release and, if need be, thereafter too.

  5. I do think the trailer is fine and there is some kind of promise in there. I just hope that the script does not try to bring in too many themes in there, as there always is a risk that it turns into a mess. As long as the story brings in the right things in the plate, without overdoing, and in a coherent manner at that, then it can be fine. That said, Aaryan seems to have a potential winner in BB3. Good times for him.

    • Chandu trailer is strictly average. Never thought too highly of Kabir Khan anyways.

But this film will have the advantage of releasing at a time when the moviegoer has absolutely no other option at all in the theaters.

Then Kalki is set for another big opening for Prabhas, but will probably his 5th consecutive Flop since Baahubali 2. Kalki budget is reportedly 600 cr -> will need 1000+ cr WW gross to be declared just a success!

Rani Mukerji was to have played Aamir’s heroine in Lagaan but a new heroine is now being finalised. “Date problems,” says Aamir, adding, “When we approached her for our film, she had already committed the dates we needed, to some other producers. She did try to adjust them for Lagaan but it was impossible for her. I, too, did not want her to cancel someone else’s dates for my film because, I wouldn’t have liked anyone doing that with dates allotted to me as a producer.”

    Crew:

A watchable, timepass film that doesn’t really elevate above the idea. There are three ambitious middle-class air hostesses with financial troubles (the clichéd background story) and a get-rich-quick scheme they plan to pull off. There’s trouble with the customs, an investigating officer, a former lover, a few other subplots involving their families, and a final ‘heist’ involving a filthy rich man on the run.

Where the film scores is in the production values. Every scene looks rich and glossy with a solid complementing BG score even when it becomes too repetitive after a while. It also pays to watch the camaraderie between the actresses: the fun banter between Tabu and Kareena with Kriti being her sassy self, all interacting and gossipping over drinks and sometimes over men. These are women owning the film with glamour, screen presence, and solid acting abilities. And I’d pay to watch them having fun even at the cost of watching n average film.

Which brings to the film’s misgivings. The glossiness is at once a thing to admire but one the viewer easily gets distracted by, coming in the way of watching a decent story unfold. The film attempts to be highly stylised with the back-and-forth narrative, but the coolness quotient isn’t as realised as they think it is. It’s of course watchable and funny in parts, but somehow it doesn’t really come together as it might have on paper.

Crew might be a good reference point for the Bechdel Test aficionados, but might not be too memorable as a solidly crafted heist movie. It, however, scores some brownie points at being a decent entertainer with the leading ladies making the most of the material at hand.

Anyways, the premise of Maharaj seems quite interesting. So, 14th June date with Netflix!

Anyone seen Panchayat S3 yet? Any reviews?

      • I said during my not-so-good review after theatrical watch that LL will find traction upon its OTT release and it has happened so. But theatrical run has been an average one to be honest. Anyways, the general reception has been a lot better than Aamir’s LSC. So its an upward curve now with SZP and Lahore 1947 to release next year (apart from Junaid’s film by AKP).

        • LL is a nice feel-good film but overall mediocre; nothing exceptional about it.

And the concept of mistaken identity of 2 rural women has been done and dusted before.
