Scattered notes on FIRAAQ (Hindi, 2008)

It’s amazing how sometimes the smallest films are often the finest made yet they tend to go unnoticed. At times, I feel in our obsession for “star-power” and Box-office we overlook some of the best films to come out. The Om Puri-Revathy starrer DHOOP (Hindi, 2003) falls in to that category and Nandita Das’s FIRAAQ also falls in to that category as no-one fluttered an eye-lid as this film came and went (Sandy’s fantastic review here as always offcourse).
