Rooney rejects this family! (0/5)
Well to be honest inspite of bad reviews i was hopeful, as i m eternal hopeful and believer in magic of cinema, and thus i get punished and deservingly. But more disappointing was the fact that as i had gone for my mom, and she also failed to connect with the movie.
I can describe my grievance on why australia, but hey we all knew it and so moving on .. but hey heck as Q bhai says if todays bollywood would make ramayan.. he would set it in america or europe, stating that ram and sita in India didnt made sense!!
But the problem i felt for movie was a good plot was wasted, as always u feel when good theme movies disappoint horribly and painfully like for recent eg. Khatta meetha. So instead of criticising i will just add what would have made difference for me. (spoilers, hell m sure no ones gonna watch it 😉 )
1. the story between kajol- kareena should have been devolop, especially that scene where former goes to meet later for help! u just dont get it how easily she says yup she would do it and all!
2. kareena being a motherless child should have been explained and required a good scene to express the pain, and that would have established that why a career women goes sympathic and fell for children.
3. Kajol, we required some background abt her what work she did, etc hell how do we connect with a person for whom they only provide she loves her children, and certainly some scenes of kareena- children reminded of thoda pyaar thoda magic.
4. the kid gets very less footage, and how kareena wins her is not shown imo properly, instead i would say leaving aside elder girl everything else a cake walk for kareena.
5. nothing is happening at any moment in the movie, theres no tension build up. leading to a climax where to everything is good, meaning the tension and rift between kajol- kareena is literally zero! though on screen u see something they want to potray but rift is not wholesome.
6. Lastly but not least m wondering why even m thinking and writing this, when i could go to sleep 🙂
Good night !!
ratings- u people know it by now.. no surprises 0/5
AFTERTHOUGHT
i felt if karan had himself directed there would have been great emotional scenes without any regret in this movie, what movie lacked was empotional sequences!! and i have always admired melodramatic karan johar movies like K3G, and produced one like Kal Ho na HO in all sense and thus indeed its more failure of director (Sid Anand) to create a better impact with such strong characters and actors at disposal.
In KHNH similarly Shahrukhs character was dying and unashamedly and true to the spirit he was given great scenes about death, and how he feared it and thus u connected cried a bucket lot for him, and how u hope there was even a single worthy sequence or scene or kajol like that, heck they dont even show us the death sequence of Kajol! How do u connect with her.. without giving her a single melodramatic sequence imo?? Its a tragedy and pain of a Mother and wife that u just fail to experience! U dont cry for her, and ofcourse i now rememeber with clarity how srk is spending and dying in those last moments in hospital and voiceover of Preity Zinta describing aman.. hey i guess instead of all this i should just go and see KHNH again 🙂
MUSIC
And yup the music, i still cant believe it was a johar movie, hes known for his music and background scores, and how one felt that if siddhart anand had seen earlier johar movies (even MNIK 😉 ) he would have atleast got music correct. M still shocked with this unhappening soundtrack!

prosaic movie and cast, especially kajol. she’s STILL the most overrated hindi film actress of all time. she did nothing for me before or after her comeback.

Don’t be so predictable Rooney.
The moment you started announcing that you were going to see this (with your mother) I knew what was coming 😉

A mixture of white + black (positive + negative) = grey
(I guess this is what munna means and I concur. A review needs that, but sorry munna if you meant anything else)

0 is an extreme rating. There must be some aspect which you probably liked about the movie even if you didn’t like the movie.
